Enchiladas supreme
Amy N.

We were on the road trip and stopped by this place because my kids love Mexican food. Their food was excellent! We order Nachos supreme, Enchiladas supreme, and fajitas. They were all very good.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I came here several times while in the area. I miss getting the food here which was delicious. I got great fast customer service here too and they were all friendly. I would just walk in and they would speak to me and immediately seat me. Their bathrooms were clean too. Yep, I couldn't find nothing wrong with this place. Check out some of the pictures I took here. My favorite menu item to order was their tostado with nacho cheese and beef. It was so good and I would just about order it every time dined here.

Quessidilla Verde with beans...nice!

While on the way to Savannah I pulled off I-95 thinking I was headed to another restaurant. Thankfully, I couldn't find a good parking place and decided to head for Armando's which I noticed on my way toward downtown St. George. Am I glad I did! This spot is the real thing from start to finish. Don't be sucked in thinking the hot shot Charleston chefs are the we only ones turning out great food. It might look like a feed store from the dusty parking lot but inside you'll find friendly, hard working people (including a manager who actually smiles and speaks with guests), fresh food from a sizable menus and clean restrooms. I could eat this stuff every day and will be back anytime I'm within 100 miles. Hope you'll be there as well!

Tacos al pastor

Our new favorite stop on 95. Yummy food and right off of the highway. The tacos Al pastor are definitely recommended.

Dinner

Stopped in tonight for dinner and had a great time. The food was good and the service was excellent!! Started off with chips and salsa as customary at mexican restaurants. The salsa was very good and extremely fresh ingredients. I also added cheese dip as well and of course it was also great. For the main course we had burritos, Chile Relenos, tacos, enchiladas, rice and beans. Everything was very good and well prepared. Will definitely be returning for more in the future and highly recommend them if your in the St.George area and in the mood for good Mexican.

Small restaurant with great food and fantastic flavors…read more We were traveling and decided that we needed to stop for dinner, so we saw the great reviews for lost buenos and we gave you a try. Only about eight tables inside and they also have grocery items, including fruit and vegetables, candies, and baked goods. At first, we were gonna get get our items to go, but when we realized it would probably be hard to eat in the car so we stayed and had a wonderful meal. Did you really want to hear about the food: Salsa - fresh, mild kick, I would consider it more on that chunky side than the smooth side. Salsa - very thin, some more on the smooth side, but very tasty. Cucumber Pinapple Drink - refreshing, with a hint of the pineapple sweetness. Really delicious, and served in a small picture which threw me at first, but then I realized everybody else had them, and they were drinking through a straw. Problem solved. Tamarind Drink - not quite as refreshing as the cucumber, but the drink was good with that hint of tamarin flavor.. Burritto - serve with your choice of meat, it was enough to feed two people, two very large people. It also comes with fresh, cucumber and radishes, which was a really nice touch. We got ours with chicken and peach with our choice.. We decided to get a couple of the baked goods to go, so maybe I'll update my review after we give those a try in the morning. Great little fine. I think you'll enjoy it.

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.

And honestly? It's a bit of a mixed bag -- like a taco that's mostly good but missing that one key ingredient. The Good Stuff First off, the staff? Solid. Friendly, attentive, and quick on their feet -- the kind of service where your drink gets refilled before you even realize it's empty. That alone scores points. Food comes out fairly quick too, which is always a win when you're hungry enough to consider eating the chips basket itself. Pricing is also very reasonable. Around $15 per person, which in today's economy feels like you just got away with something. Decor? Let's call it "classic." Not bad, not great -- just kind of there doing its job. The Not-So-Good Now... let's talk about the salsa. This wasn't your typical Mexican restaurant salsa. This was... something else. It had a strong marinara vibe -- like it got lost on the way to an Italian restaurant and just decided to stay. Chips deserved better. The restaurant itself is showing its age a bit. "Dated" is the polite way to put it -- like stepping into a time capsule that hasn't been updated since flip phones were king. Bathrooms? Yeah... we're not writing home about those. And parking? Tight. Limited. A little rough around the edges -- literally. Think potholes and wear that's seen better days. Final Verdict Armando's isn't trying to be fancy -- and that's okay. It delivers on quick service, friendly staff, and affordable meals. But it definitely has some areas that could use attention (starting with that identity-crisis salsa). If you're in the area and want a quick, budget-friendly bite, it'll do the job. Just maybe don't go in expecting a life-changing Mexican food experience. 3.7 out of 5 Good service, fair prices... questionable salsa decisions.

I will say the waitress was attentive and got the orders right. However, I won't frequent this establishment again and can't recommend it to anyone.

I moved from NYC to San Francisco years ago and so have tried my fair share of Mexican food around California. This is better than almost all taquerias, and better than all taco trucks, I've tried. The food is fresh and very tasty. The staff is super nice. The setting is clean and pretty with tables in the shade and wildflowers around us (in September). We had: - veggie burrito and they had real veggies in there, not just peppers and onions, excellent burrito. - meat burrito, my cousin was very happy and she's a gourmet chef. - shredded beef quesadilla, more (well-seasoned tasty) meat than cheese, never seen that and now we're spoiled. Enjoy! P.S. The sauces on the table are the real thing: HOTTTT. So use with caution. I couldn't use them at all but I'm a sissy when it comes to Mexican hot pepper sauces..
