Been here 5 times with different people at different times of day/week, over three years. Not a place we've enjoyed, even though our co-diners all raved about it. We felt that the food was overpriced for what we got. Each time, our dishes arrive luke warm and seeming to swim in cheese sauce. The portions are average. We've tried their soup, enchiladas, tacos and a couple of other entrees and... no thanks. Nothing we'd want to try again. Cleanliness is lax. A good overhaul of things like counter edges, the glass, floors under the tables and the bathrooms would make for a better experience, and a more positive review. The service? Meh... we did not feel that warm fuzzy feeling each time we have tried this place out (have been with a large group, another couple and just myself and a friend). We've felt like we were bothering the staff or that they had better things to do, or would rather attend another table than ours. It's a weird feeling when the staff ask how everything was without making eye contact, then not letting us answer because they're already handing us the receipt and wish us a good night and walking away. 2 stars for the chips and salsa, and free pop refills. So no, unless you LOVE this type of food and service, we do not recommend this place. read more

We stopped here on the way back home from Florida due to good reviews. We love all Latin American food so we're always in search of places to try when we travel. The ambience was good, pretty standard for a Mexican style restaurant. The only thing of note was that the bathroom had an odor of urine, so maybe some better cleaning there. The server seemed a bit casual, I think it's just a southern thing (calling us honey and such) which was fine just not something I prefer. But she was attentive and nice. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I came here several times while in the area. I miss getting the food here which was delicious. I got great fast customer service here too and they were all friendly. I would just walk in and they would speak to me and immediately seat me. Their bathrooms were clean too. Yep, I couldn't find nothing wrong with this place. Check out some of the pictures I took here. My favorite menu item to order was their tostado with nacho cheese and beef. We were on I-26 heading East in ridiculous traffic when I started to get hungry. We had just passed the Orangeburg exit, and there were only fast food options showing up on the map. Insert Yelp, I found this restaurant on our route just .6 miles off of I-95! We were able to jump off of I-26 (thanks Google maps) and take a cutover to get to I95. We pulled in on a Friday night at 5:30 and the parking lot was full! I think we hit the jackpot! The woman parking at the same time said, "park anywhere, you are in the country." Ok, good start, lots of people are here, and the customers are friendly. I referred back to one of the reviews and ordered the same combo. A taco, a chalupa, and a tostada. I wish I could show you how the meal arrived, but I immediately started in on the taco. Everything was good, and BONUS, we hit happy hour! My fabulous frozen, lime margarita with salt was a steal! While on the way to Savannah I pulled off I-95 thinking I was headed to another restaurant. Thankfully, I couldn't find a good parking place and decided to head for Armando's which I noticed on my way toward downtown St. George. Am I glad I did! This spot is the real thing from start to finish. Don't be sucked in thinking the hot shot Charleston chefs are the we only ones turning out great food. It might look like a feed store from the dusty parking lot but inside you'll find friendly, hard working people (including a manager who actually smiles and speaks with guests), fresh food from a sizable menus and clean restrooms. My only complaint about this restaurant is that I didn't find it sooner! IT IS SO GOOD! The service - both times it has been spectacular! Neither too nosy nor neglectful, the staff pops in at just the right moments to see if you need anything. Our drinks are always full and fresh beers offered at the exact right time. Chips and queso are delicious, but their salsa is DELICIOUS! It's so fresh and it's got to be homemade! My husband has gotten a variety of the combos, but always says it's great. I always get the Armando's Bowl - perfectly spiced steak with avocado, rice, and beans. It's always delicious. I can't wait to try the desserts, but I'm always too full to order! Maybe next time, I'll start with dessert and work my way backwards! read more

Stopped in tonight for dinner and had a great time. The food was good and the service was excellent!! Started off with chips and salsa as customary at mexican restaurants. The salsa was very good and extremely fresh ingredients. I also added cheese dip as well and of course it was also great. For the main course we had burritos, Chile Relenos, tacos, enchiladas, rice and beans. Everything was very good and well prepared. Will definitely be returning for more in the future and highly recommend them if your in the St.George area and in the mood for good Mexican. read more

Hubs & I had a late-ish lunch here today. It was great. Food was fresh, hot, & delicious; service was friendly & fast; prices were very reasonable & they have an large selection of deliciousness to choose from. Hubs had the California burrito with steak & chicken; I had Pollo Fundido with an extra side of refried beans. The town of St. George will definitely benefit from having this restaurant. They have few really good sit down restaurants & I hope Armando's is a huge success. The one (Shug's) preceding Armando's was good, too, but closed its doors a while back. If we had to lose that one, I'm glad there's another good restaurant to take its place. We will definitely return here. read more

We stopped in here just after 9pm on a Saturday after the other restaurants in town turned us away with a closed kitchen and a closed dining room respectively. Armando's on the other hand was happy to have us there. Service was above and beyond friendly and efficient as well. The food was all above expectations too. The salsa tasted fresh and bright. Each of our plates was packed with flavor. The Margarita was huge and very tasty too. We will be back next time we are passing through. read more

Food...ugh. Tacos were salty salty, I couldn't even swallow it and they brought me new order but they were they same! Molcajete plate was tasteless, no salt or seasoning felt in that! AND THE DIP!! It's Mexican food if your in a pinch. Was definitely no true traditional Mexican flavors or spices. Seemed to be dulled down "Americanized Mexican dished". The customer service and atmosphere was great. If they can get the food more flavorful and colorful it will be fantastic. First time I ever had white rice at a Mexican restaurant. Beans have very heavy onion flavor as well. My family and I went to this restaurant and and first off all the food was bland , and they not only didn't tell us the refills weren't free from the start but we didn't ask them to refill our drinks but they still tried to charge us for them . The side's like rice and salads were brought out to us with our meals and it wasn't until the check came out that we found out they changed all that separate ( not included with the main dishes ) but again we weren't told any of this until we questioned them about the check . In all this is one of the worst restaurants we've dined it . The customer service was horrible too , we talked to our server about all the extra charges and he said he didn't have anything to do with it .
