It's good food. The reason why a star is missing is because when you order it for pickup, the order is always wrong.

The food was typical Mexican food you expect, nothing special. I have yet to find a margarita here that actually taste good. Literally every single time I have been here, I have seen roaches scurrying across the floor. Fortunately, we have found another Mexican resturant we will continue going to instead of this one. read more

Maybe its me but i had a plate of food (really good) and a couple beers an left a nice tip. It was 40$. Maybe its just inflation. Service was really good read more

The service is alway great because they are very attentive to the customers. The atmosphere is fine and I always order the same dish which I enjoy every time. Great place to bring a gathering of family and friends‼ read more

My previous accolades of El Pueblo were written back when I was a much more regular customer. I now only have the opportunity to enjoy the Pueb a few times a year. My opinion has not changed. There's something to be said for a restaurant who maintains the same employees for a decade or more. There are at least 4 different employees who know our drink order and Dad's go to lunch order. They know my preferred, but also know my other two backup orders. Sometimes I have to go hunt for my own napkin, but still 5/5. Keep it up, El Pueblo! My name is Thieme Hall, and I approve this message. read more

My family and I have eaten here almost every Sunday for years. Staff is always attentive and nice. Free chips and salsa (terrific salsa) to start every meal. They recently added birria selections to the menu and it is sooo good. The combinations have never been my favorite but we love everything else we have tried (90% of the menu). read more

The food was delicious. My husband and I had shrimp ceviche. Also the Corn ribs was delicious. We will return when traveling to Walterboro S.C. read more

Don't waste your time/money. Food had no taste, waiter was rude and really pushy. Luis, the waiter was incredibly rude, he acted as though we were imposing on his time. He really doesn't like his job. When we left, I saw the line at Taco Bell, I now know why their line was so long there. . . The food has TASTE! read more

Ambiance is always good. The place gets good business because of its location. In the past 6 years, quality of food has went down. Servers are rude, they have enough business now so they dont care. I prefer going elsewhere in Walterboro. read more

Food was good but again I ordered Chili Relleno and didn't get it. The waitress told me this is chili Relleno and if I want the full poblano I need to order that. The restaurants around town need to look up a chili Relleno and look at the pics and description. I fell in love with them when I spent time in Mexico. read more

Plenty of parking and seating was quick. They were busy but waiter was fast and intenative. Food was on point and plentiful. Please was clean and atmosphere was great. The Horchata tasted delicious. Would recommend and I will return. read more

We were passing through and decided to grab a quick lunch in Waterboro, SC. We totally lucked out; I had the best bowl of chicken soup I've ever eaten. The portion was enough for 2 people and it was filled with veggies, big chunks of chicken, firm avocado slices and rice. Wonderful place. read more

2 days ago New HORRIBLE! I would not recommend this restaurant for anyone! I went for the first time and upon entrance I was not greeted although there were 4 people standing up front, and even after speaking. The biggest issue came when my 17 year old cousin did not like her food (birria tacos). She ate two bites from 1 of her 3 tacos and ate nothing else. After letting the server know that she didn't like it and I wanted it to be taken off since she really didn't eat it she told me I had to speak with the manager about the issue and how another table ordered it and liked it and attempted to take the plate off the table. Once the manager came out he didn't want to speak to me, the adult, he began grilling the 17 year old. After explaining that she did not like the food because it didn't really have a taste he told her that he tasted it and he liked it (as if tastebuds are not subject) and that next time she is going to have to pay regardless of if she liked it or not. Very unprofessional. After the bill was brought out and the tacos were taken off but there was 18% gratuity added to the bill. There was only 3 individuals. When I went to pay I asked if gratuity is added to every check I was told "I'm not sure, you have to ask the manager". My experience was terrible and I will not be returning to this establishment. The manager is rude and unprofessional and the staff are very incompetent. read more

The food is always good here! I did order my food for pickup and when I got there it was ready. Service is amazing & they also have really nice staff. read more

Passing trough on our way home and got takeout from this "Mexican restaurant ". Not sure how they get away with calling the food we had Mexican because it resembles nothing like real Mexican food and I've had good Mexican food. The food is barely edible and I'm mean barely. We threw most of it out. Stale flour tortillas buried in cheese does not make a quesadilla. I could go on and on, but really don't waste your hard earned money at this place. Buy a frozen burrito at any grocery store and it will be better. read more

Great place for some great Mexican food at a good price! my girlfriend recommended this location and so we decided to go try it out yesterday. I got the cheesesteak burritos which were fantastic! When it's time to pay, walk back to the entrance and they'll pull your bill. read more

As travel from Virginia to Florida and back again twice a year. When we stay in Walterboro, we always go to El Pueblo. The staff is wonderful, the service is good and the food is delicious. I'm sure they have off days but that's never happened when we've eaten there. It's hidden and tricky to find but worth it!! read more

Good food, good prices and service. The specials are delish and the service is always spot price on.

Excellent food, margaritas and service. Very pleased and actually surprised as in small town with only fast food for choices. Had vegetarian taco salad - so tasty. Walked out a little bit tipsy from one house margarita - great tasting tequila. Salsa was spicy! Highly recommend El Pueblo in walterboro, SC read more

What a gem here in Walterboro! We were seated within Moments after being greeted WITHIN moments so the reception and service was five star! Within 5 minutes we had margueritas and placed our orders. Hubby and I shared Texas fajitas which was more than enough for two in one order. Great food, great service... loved server Jamie!! read more

Worst service I have received!! Like one of the worst ever in my life! I ordered a guava mojito & they made something else that wasn't that. So I asked for a different drink. The waiter said he had to get the manager. The manager was more than rude & had an attitude with me. He stood there and held the drink & I told him it was not right & it was just sour & I wanted something different. He told me I wouldn't like anything else they make either because everything they have is sour. So we decided we couldn't trust them with our food after this attitude we told him to cancel our order. He told me he didn't care if I left. I asked for the manager over him phone number & told me he wouldn't give me his manager number & walked off. I asked other employees & they said no. read more

Terrible, abrupt and rude service. They are MEAN and will actually openly laugh at you. Do not go. Their food is lackluster and it is a dirty restaurant with crappy service. I am from Walterboro as it's my hometown, and I am embarrassed that this "restaurant" exists there. There is a lot better places to go than this grubby little place in town. Try Castillos. read more

Our friends in Walterboro were excited on recent visit to have us try their New Mexican restaurant in town. However, it was mediocre at best. 3 of us had chicken fajitas- so dry there was no juice. When I asked for more sour cream I got charge $2.50. What a rip. Rice was also extremely dry. My husband, who is 1/2 Mexican, was not impressed with his meal either. Our server was not that pleasant. Would not stop here again. read more

Chilé réllénōs had the texture of potted meat. Chilé poblanos were vile. Like egg custard instead of cheese. Tamales were hard from microwaving. Like a rock. Texas dip was good read more

I'm very sad about the two stars I gave this review. We use to love this place. However I ordered the Texas dip with the shrimp on the side because I do not eat shrimp. It was not on the side however it was Chopped up in there so I couldn't even pick it out. To top it off it is lacking in the chicken and steak. The cheese is pure water and for nine bucks there is nothing in this pan. This is a picture before I tried to dig the shrimp out. The soup is okay. All the veggies in it are barely cooked. It's like they just threw everything together in seconds. Sadly I don't think we will return. read more

Absolutely nothing good to say about this place. Margarita was awful, service was mediocre at best and the food came out ice cold. After waiting 15 minutes to have someone even acknowledge something was wrong, I just asked for my check with just the margarita on it, paid my tab and left. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

We got stuck in a traffic accident and it derailed our lunch plans while heading to FL. We stopped at a different restaurant at first but they had an event. We ended up here and they didn't disappoint. The food was excellent. I have the fajita taco salad my husband had the Pollo con piña with added chorizo. The decor inside was nice and so was the service. read more

I usually just come here for their queso and drinks. I've tried a few different dishes and their chicken and steak are both hit or miss. Sometimes good, sometimes chewy and rubbery. Service can feel rushed every now and then. If you order the nachos they pile on the onions, tomatoes, and peppers with only a handful of chips, so I'm usually digging into the basket of chips to finish eating all of it. It's an alright place and I stick to what I know will be good. read more

Being from south Florida, I am always hesitant about random Mexican food in smaller southern towns. But this place was great! Just a wonderful meal for super cheap with nice service and a giant menu. Two downsides - table chips were stale. And my farts on the rest of our car ride were terrible. I don't blame the food for the farts, but I do for the stale chips. read more

Good was really good. I had the fried beef and chicken chimichangas. My 7 year old daughter doesn't like meat nut really liked the chicken chimichanga. We ate our food so fast that I didn't get to take any pictures. The restaurant had so much space and lots of seating in different wings. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. My boyfriend had the la paz steak and ate everything on his plate. We are passing through from out of town and was shocked at how cheap the prices were. Would definitely visit again. read more

Extremely bad service the last two times here! And plus there are a couple women who hang out at the bar or at a table just outside the door who cuss worse than a drunken sailor, so I would not recommend taking kids here ( especially if those women are there) I assume they work there because they are always there when I have been there. Very unprofessional and unfriendly. read more

This used to be a regular dinner option for me and my family, however, lately I'd rather go elsewhere. I think they are relying on the fact that they are practically the only Mexican restaurant in town for business. Over the past few years the food and service has been on a downward decline. The atmosphere is similar of many other Mexican restaurants I've been in, i.e. Mexico wall murals, vibrant color choices, and Mexican music. The dining area is clean (the bathroom could use a little more attention though). The wait staff seems to hang out around the bar and it sometimes takes a while to see them. One our last visit I ordered a combination plate (burrito, beans, rice) everything had the same flavor. Pretty bland and to top it off the chips were stale. Not the great seasons and flavors I'm looking for in Mexican food (and they once had). read more

Super fast service. Food was delicious. Loved the enchiladas. Will return for sure.

Maybe because I'm from Fl and there's just different standards but this was not good. Salsa wasn't good. Queso was pretty good. But I got the cheesy burrito and the steak was awful. No flavor. Wife got tacos and the beef was gross. Would've preferred fast food. Not the type to leave this review either read more
