***4.5 Stars*** A great cafe located in Freshfields Village near Kiawah resort. Offers a simple, but good breakfast and also has many takeaway options such as salads, quiches, pasta, pastries and even alcohol (wine, beer). Our group of 4 came for breakfast just before 9 am. I would suggest getting there earlier, as a huge line formed at around 930am on a Saturday. I ordered the smoke salmon toast and my friends ordered the breakfast biscuit sandwiches. Everything was good and my friends even went back for lunch later on. Definitely a good breakfast spot to bookmark if you're staying at Kiawah and want to grab something casual outside the resort.

Now THIS is what I call a cafe! The coffee is incredible and the treats are fantastic as well. I wish I hadn't already eaten breakfast as the quiches look amazing. Do yourself a favor and order a sea salt dark chocolate cookie and a brown butter marshmallow bar. BLOODY DELICIOUS-- Cheers!

Update: came back after a couple of days. Yeah, it is still good In fact, I was still thinking about this place after coming the first time. We quickly packed and ran out of our place just to get a coffee before heading to the airport. Loved it even more this time !

We ordered a vanilla Iced latte and one of the sandwiches. We got a cold sandwich with ham slapped on it, too much cheese and they forgot the Dijon. Honestly, my first grader could've made a better sandwich. The coffee was fine, not special. We probably won't come back.

I'd have to say that Cafe Eugenia is definitely a place worth stopping, enjoying, and savoring. We went for a late brunch and boy, oh boy, this quaint eatery has some remarkably good food waiting behind the counter for both foodies and tourist alike. Being a local to the area, I really like the outdoor seating with a view of the marsh and Freshfields village. It was a great spot to take our toddler to with plenty of variety to choose from along with lots of house made items. If you are heading to Kiawah or Seabrook, this should be your go-to café for everything from coffee to a well stocked and supplied selection of choice wines from around the world. Make sure to check it out, you'll be glad you did!

Love this place! One of my fav coffee shops on Kiawah, coffee is good and so is food . Below is the frittata

Cafe Eugenia.. We love visiting Cafe Eugenia. Very nice people and the food is excellent. Sadly, they were out of crossants so we went for an egg and cheese of focatia and a chocolate cookie. Both were excellent

I had a lovely breakfast outside in the rain (under a protective eave AND a patio umbrella). From my seat I had a peaceful view of the pond across the street. I ordered the avocado toast with pickle vegetables. It hit the spot. Next time I might try the whipped feta toast or go back to the wonderful biscuit and jam. I also picked up a couple of tahini bars to cut up for a dessert tray this evening. They are delicious!

We really enjoyed this cafe in the Freshfields area of Kiawah Island. Sandwiches are simple (and not inexpensive). But food tastes great and is something slightly different from the norm. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. They have some seating outside and it overlooks the pond area. There is parallel parking out front and a parking lot on the side. They also offer catering!

Even the bathroom is well appointed!

Uh! My favorite place to stop on the way to Kiawah Island. Open for breakfast, lunch and/ or quick late afternoon bite - but do note: hours are 8:00am-6:00 pm Tuesday - Sunday. The FIRST thing I make sure I order when I step through the door at Cafe Eugenia is to order a slice of their homemade coffeecake as well as a slice of their zucchini bread...yum. The FIRST thing I make sure I order and take home when I'm LEAVING the island is the aforementioned!!! The baked goods at the Cafe are a must try! All menu items are made fresh daily and locally sourced. Fresh salads, quiches and sandwiches to name a few. Tuna salad, chicken salad and today they had "curried" chicken salad. Hard to find around the Charleston area and I love curry--it was delicious. Next time I will ask for it served on one of their freshly baked croissants. Several "Take and Bake" meals and "To Go" selections can also be purchased. For the hostess wanting to feed the weekend houseguests the Cafe offers great cocktail party items such as cheese and charcuterie boards and hors' d'oeuvres. You won't be disappointed with their selection of wines for sale either. The Cafe's interior is upscale in feel and very comfortable complete with pillows for the indoor window seat tables. You will find Eugenia's nestled on the "lakeside" area in Freshfields Village. With both indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas ~ views of the lake and the sky beyond makes for a pleasant lunch with your gal pals or for quiet business lunch. The staff keeps things lively and are friendly and eager to please. I highly recommend.

My favorite cheat cookie after long runs. I am obsessed with the dark chocolate cookie. It's a great combination of sweet and salty. It is huge. :). I've also sampled the homemade rice crispy treats. This place is always busy and has many menu options, including take-home meals. The cafe itself is well lit with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is quick, and the staff is very welcoming.

Need to switch up menu. Rely on your reading what is recipe in the service counter. Questions not welcome or it seems.

Nice breakfast sandwiches and espresso drinks. A little on the pricy side, but not exorbitant, especially for Freshfields.

I was not entirely sure what a "waffle pop" would turn out to be, but I ended up with two of them in an order, freshly made and topped with one fruit and one sauce of choice. Getting bananas with blueberry sauce was a good choice, one of many I expect. My strawberry matcha with boba was compromised by them running out of strawberry boba, but the regular tapioca balls did just fine soaked in a robustly flavored beverage. Their donut selection was appealing, but I simply did not have room. It would be tough to get out of there without getting a ton of sugar, and this place did not seem to have a ton for the more niche special dietary needs. However, it did have a lot of interesting messaging as a community space, with resources directed towards military families in particular, which moves me to look favorably on the place. And their stuff is delicious.

My web search for coffee found this place just a couple hundred feet from my hotel, opening in just…read more5 minutes (7:00). So I walked over. It was not at all what I expected in a strip mall near a chain hotel. What a cheerful place, the walls yellow, the windows decorated with big bright suns, the menu boards artfully illustrated, kitchy motivational signs everywhere. I was greeted with a geniality matching the overall vibe by a woman whom it was apparent was the owner. I complimented her on the name "Sunny Summers". She told me it was named after her two daughters. There was a young girl working with her so I asked her if she was Sunny or Summer. She didn't say anything. As it turned out she was neither - just an unrelated employee. I had only come in for a cup of coffee but I saw the donuts and couldn't resist. Many of them were outrageous sugar bombs - and beautiful to look at. But I settled on a more sedate cinnamon-sugar. Glad I did. It was fried to order then dusted with the topping and served not in a bag but in a cute box sized just right for the single. So when I ate it in the car 5 minutes later it was still warm, and fresh as can be. Does she always do this or was it because I arrived just after opening? Unsure, but it was a spectacularly good donut. The coffee, too, was excellent. Strong, no bitterness or sourness, and from a local independent roaster. The other foods mostly fit in the category of sweet indulgences: donuts with crazy toppings, "waffle pops", french toast. A few lunch items like panini. The burger offering was made with pancakes rather than the traditional bun! Now a few words about the proprietor. I was astonished by her outfit that left little to the imagination. At 7 in the morning! It was hard to keep my eyes where they belonged but I managed! (Sorry, I have no photos, for obvious reasons.) I realized later, when I did more research on the place, that this was part of her shtick, playing off her reputation as retired professional wrestler Lacey Evans. Before that she was in the Marine Corps serving in the military police force. An interesting choice of careers for sure. There's a board with prepaid receipts that the less-fortunate can use to get food. That's great. I wish I had known about it when I was there, not later during my research. I would definitely have prepaid a meal. Also, discounts for military and first responders. Not necessarily how I would do things but I know her intentions were good. The world needs more places like this. So a plea to anyone reading this: You may not be able to give up your Dunkin and Starbucks completely, as I have. But just try it for a month, or even a week: next time you need a fix check Google or Yelp for independent coffee shops, try something different, even if you have to go a little out of your way. You may just discover a new favorite hangout.
