Best breakfast spot in Charleston. We go weekly when we can, their mimosas are fantastic, their food is always great, and while they're busy most of the time, they're not slow or rude. It's a well oiled machine and when I don't go for a week or two, I feel it pulling me back. Came here on an unseasonably hot Saturday. The wait was about 30 minutes. Had high expectations given the long wait. Unfortunately, the food was a let down. It was average to below average. The fruit parfait was good, with tons of fruits. The breakfast burrito was not good with overcooked peppers and extremely bland. The southern BLT was also disappointing with soggy fried green tomato (the crust fell off as soon as you bit into it). My husband and I went to lost dog cafe for breakfast on a weekend morning. We went early about 7:30-8. There was a wait but we got in pretty quickly . There's a cute little courtyard area around the restaurant and the restaurant itself is very cute and kitschy. I got the corned beef hash which was delicious. I had the best iced coffee i've maybe ever had from lost dog! This place is popular for a reason. I like that we can order a coffee from the coffee bar and enjoy it while waiting for a table. The wait on a Saturday morning is definitely worth it. The food and the coffee were so good. My croissant egg sandwich was perfect in every way. The cinnamon roll shared with the table was sooo warm and delicious. We were seated outside on a covered porch and service was fast. Absolutely loved my meal at Lost Dog! Such a staple in Folly Beach and definitely a must stop. I came with a group of 7 and they do not take reservations before hand, just walk ups so expect a long line when you arrived. Grab a drink at the bar until they call you. Took myself here on a solo date and the food did not disappoint! This might be one of my favorite/the best she crab soups I've had in Charleston. The Caesar wrap was delicious as well, but I recommend adding chicken to it because I did not. The ambience is very friendly and cozy--I loved all the pictures of dogs lol. I see my last review was about ten years ago, which makes sense because my wife and I are back for our second honeymoon on our tenth anniversary and the FIRST place we go is Lost Dog! I read my review and was completely amazed to see that nothing has changed whatsoever--I would bring anyone here at any time and never worry! I SO want to get a photo of our dog on their wall. . .but there are so few spaces left. I could spend hours in this cafe just looking at the photos of dogs everywhere. It was super busy but we (a party of two on a mid-Saturday morning) had zero wait! I was amazed at that. Bloody Mary mix is house made and so good. Must try! Another place with no Gluten Free substitutes so I had a burger no bun (I'll survive lol). We got here a little after 9 and the inside was completely full so we sat outside on the deck which was nice! When we were on our way out there was a line out the door and numerous parties waiting. I ordered a coffee and the breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. I felt that the prices were reasonable but you'll see on the menu they up charge for just about everything ($2 to split the plate, fee for bagging items to go, adding protein, etc). On a recent trip we had a late breakfast outside and it was a very positive experience! Our server was pretty efficient and even when it started getting bus she would have another runner/sever refill our drinks. Our food came out fast, fresh hot, and was all very delicious! My wife had the eggs Benedict, but got the fried tomatoes on the side - she loved it! We shared some things based off of reviews, the cinnamon roll is in fact incredible and the sausage gravy biscuit is super savory and flavorful! I had eggs, sausage, and grits that were excellent. Parking here is a nightmare. If you can find a spot and wait your turn, pick a seat inside. We ate on the patio and were swatting flies the whole time. The food was OK, nothing spectacular. I guess we might have too high of expectations when on vacation. The locals seem to enjoy this place. The workers seemed a bit aloof, at least compared to what we are used to, but they were nice. My husband and I popped in on a gray morning recently - and there was a decent wait, though not for just 2 people willing to sit outside! Hurrah. A waiter quickly brought over some really tasty coffee. On a lunch visit a couple days later, I'd have a fab latte. They have all kinda of flavors and even a special coffee drink each day on their specials menu. I ordered a special omelet that had cheese, sausage, and lots of diced veg. I got the "green chile" sauce on the side - but that was quite flavorful. Green chiles in a warm salsa-like sauce - with just a bit of a kick. My husband got their recommended eggs Benedict (I would've gotten the special that had a crab cake! But he didn't- boo!). He loved it, even though it looked a bit puny. He said it was flavorful. The absolute STAR for us, though, was this incredible, warm, flaky biscuit that would make my southern aunts jealous. Thank goodness I don't live near this place, or I'd be so fat! Eek! Totally lovely experience. As I said - we didn't like lunch quite as well. The shrimp and grits was just ok, and the special shrimp po' boy lacked flavor. First off, the food was inferior to other places I have found that most restaurants in this area are not that great. I had biscuits and gravy, the gravy tasted old and basic. The service was immaculate, I got my mother a mug to commemorate this restaurant. Inside there were pictures of dogs plastered on the wall very cute very unique. Came here on a whim after visiting downtown Charleston and the reviews were too good to pass this place up! I love the shaded areas and the dog friendly patio's. You 100% want to get here early, we showed up around 10:30AM and waited for about 30min. which was not terrible at all, the parking situation took the longest lol. The patio we sat down at was cool and protected from the sun. The service was fantastic and the food & coffee we got was well worth the wait!! We can't wait to come back with our pup. read more
