Overall, Rita's has a really nice atmosphere--we enjoyed the vibe and the setting. It's a great place to sit, relax, and enjoy a meal. Our server was very average. Nothing bad, but nothing that stood out either. For example, when my mother-in-law asked if they had Riesling, she responded, "No, our wine is very limited, which makes my job easier." It came off a little odd, but not a huge deal. The food and drinks were very good overall. One issue we had was with the tuna nachos. The menu says "blackened ahi tuna," so we expected it to be seared/rare, which is pretty standard. However, it came out fully cooked. When we mentioned it, the server said it's always prepared that way and not sushi-grade, so they don't serve it rare. That's totally fine--but the menu should definitely be clearer, because it was not what we expected. To her credit, she did offer to comp it if we didn't eat it, but we still ate it--it just wasn't what we had in mind. We also ordered lobster tails--five of us got the same entrée but with different sides. She seemed a bit scattered handling that, but everything did come out correctly, and again, the food itself was very good. The biggest issue came at the end. We asked about a military discount after the bill came out, so the check was adjusted. My uncle had already written in a tip on the original total. After the adjustment, the tip was changed, but it still came out to around 15%, which we felt was fair based on the service. After we left, our server actually chased us down the block asking what she did wrong and why we changed the tip. That was very uncomfortable and honestly unprofessional. It came across as if she thought she wasn't tipped at all, which wasn't the case. Because of that experience, we're adjusting our rating from what would have been 4 stars down to 3. Good food, nice atmosphere--but that final interaction left a bad impression. read more

Anytime I go to Folly Beach, stopping at Rita's is a must -- either before or after the beach. The energy inside is always fun and laid-back, and everyone is genuinely so nice every single time. The food is always so good. My go-to order is the shrimp po' boy, and their chili is surprisingly one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with a mimosa, but their signature crush cocktails are also a must-try and perfect for a Folly day. Stopped at Rita's after a four‑mile "death march" masquerading as our morning walk. By the time we hit we're back at Arctic we were both starved enough to chew on a beach chair. We were sat in under a minute, and the waitress hit the table with coffee before we could pretend to study the menu. Less than ten minutes later we had our order and drinks, which is about the time my legs remembered how to work again. Food was well prepared and appropriately seasoned, the kind of breakfast that makes you briefly believe in cardio. Great breakfast on Folly Beach, where the grits are real and the tourists are optional. Highly recommended, especially if you've earned it the hard way. Went here today after spending our day at the Angel Oak tree and the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. After walking on the Folly Beach Pier we went straight into the Rita's Seaside Grille and had an early dinner. The place is really nice and the staff was welcoming and very attentive. We were really happy that they had so many choices for vegetarian food on the menu and even have marked them. We were sitting outside where they also had life music. We immediately got iced water and then our order was taken. We ordered for drinks Ginger Ale, Pina Colada, and two non alcoholic Heineken. Further we ordered the Veggie Sandwich, twice the Seafood Tacos and the Chicken Wings with fries. The Tacos came also with fries. In total we paid $110.95, which is absolutely fine. We very enjoyed our dinner and give 5 well deserved stars. Would we come again? Definitely yes. read more

Went for lunch one day. Got the fish and chips. Batter on the fish was falling off and was under-seasoned. Not sure if they don't use a binder at all? Fries were nothing to write home about. Bartenders were reasonably efficient, although not particularly friendly. Kind of surprising, as I understand this place is owned by the same people who own Hall's Chophouse. Great location, lots of seating, diverse menu, great staff (the older gentleman in charge of our table was wonderful), and willing to accommodate food allergies. Ordered the prickly pickle Bloody Mary (delicious and well worth it!) and smoked turkey melt (minus cheese and had the onions, bread, etc, sautéed in oil instead of butter). so so so good omg!!! i got the diablo mussels and oysters on the half shell and finished it ALL not a drop was left. Everything was so good and the mussels were deliciously seasoned. I went back a second time by myself and sat at the bar to get some oysters and the bar staff was good, everyone was so nice and welcoming and the atmosphere was very beach restaurant but also nice inside. Only bad thing was my sisters order was wrong (gave her fried tenders instead of grilled) and by the time they fixed it (20+ min) we were all done with our meals. Lived my dining experience at Rita's! Came here with a group of 7 girls and a reservation is highly recommended. The place has indoor and outdoor seating available - we saw some cute pups dining outside which is always a nice treat. Large menu and hard to choose but settled on the tomato and Burrata salad which was good; big enough to share with 2-3 people. My table chose a lot of good dishes but I settled in with the shrimp and grits dish which was excellent; great portion and filling! Dinner of burger with fries (a bit too salty) and Chicken Thighs with beans and coleslaw were all delicious. The Rum-runner was made well, too! Rita's breakfast was good, but 1. They need more gluten free options and 2. The grits are too pasty. A little hot water and butter would have made these edible. We didn't eat until 10 so the grits were probably sitting around for a few hours. Ok, so I fixed them myself and they were perfect! Our server Lauren was in training but spot on! My husband I had been to Rita's years ago! We were on quick trip to Charleston and had to stop by and walk Folky Pier and eat at iconic Rita's. Place is still great with a fun funky beach vibe. The tropical mojito smelled and tasted just like Hawaiian tropics sunscreen (in a good way!) We each got the crab soup and split blackened tuna nachos. The soup was spot on with a little heat. Creamy with nice bits of crab meat. The nachos were huge - easily could have been shared by 4. Lots of cheese, grilled onions and jalapeños, and chunks flog blackened tuna. They were so good we boxed up the other half we couldn't finish to snack on at home. Staff was good and drinks and food were served quickly. My only complaint is there was a person sitting right behind us on a high top table with a dog that keep barking in my ear, it was very uncomfortable. Rita's on Folly Beach is a must-visit! My friends and I were seated right away by a welcoming hostess. We enjoyed our meal on the patio which was perfect as it was a beautiful day. Though nachos aren't usually my go-to, the watermelon salsa intrigued me. I also tried their margarita with jalapeño-infused tequila, which added a delightful kick. The nachos were enormous--$18 for a portion so generous that I barely made a dent, but I happily took the leftovers home. The watermelon salsa was definitely different but maybe not something I would regularly get. I highly recommend Rita's to anyone in the area. Solid 4 stars! While at Folly Beach my family and I dined at Rita's for dinner one night. We opted to sit on the covered patio as we have 2 littles who can be loud. First, the location and vibe of the restaurant was pretty good and all the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, it took 10 minutes before I got up and asked someone who our server was before anyone waited on us... it was 11 on a Friday and they were maybe 1/4 full. So that wasn't a great start. My wife and I tried the dip's appetizer and the guacamole and queso were pretty good and the chips had a nice flavor! The salsa was just something jarred from the grocery store. I had the burger which was good but not memorable, my wife had the shrimp tacos which she liked, but again were not memorable. I really liked the ribbon fries. Overall, it was a solid lunch spot and was good, just not great. I would go back, but no rush. To those about to dine, I hope your service is better than ours. read more

Fish & Shrimp Tacos are the best value in the area from what I have seen! Most places have a slightly lower price, but only include 2 tacos without a side. I highly recommend these! (much more flavorful than Taco Boy) Unfortunately the service wasn't amazing. We were not asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, and when we were sat outside we were placed right in front of the live music. It was not a very enjoyable experience, as it was quite loud and also happened to be a very windy evening.
