My wife and I must have drove past this place dozens of times and we kind of judged a book by its cover. But Lolo's proved us completely wrong. This place isn't a dive but a true diamond in the rough. Located on the base of one of the last bridges heading into Folly Beach they are providing amazing seafood at great prices! We started with cocktails which arrived in mason jars and packed a boozy punch. I order the Whisky Business which had Jack Daniels, Grand Marnier, lemon juice, simple syrup and a dash of bitters. It was clean, slightly fruity and perfect for sipping. My wife ordered the Lolo's Lemonade which featured Signal Point Vodka, fresh squeezed lemonade. You could add cherry, peach, strawberry or blueberry if you want but we had it plain. Super refreshing on a hot sunny day. For our starter we ordered the Buffalo Fried shrimp with blue cheese crumbles. It packed just the right amount of heat and a generous sprinkling of chunky blue cheese. The shrimp were large and definitely fresh. Awesome start! My wife ordered the 1/3 pound of fried scallops and upgraded it to a meal with fries, slaw and hush puppies. The scallops were huge and seriously flavorful. She was very pleased. i tried one of their signature dishes, the New Orleans. Shrimp, crawfish, andouille sausage with bell peppers, onions in a creamy Cajun sauce and topped over a grit cake. It was a flavor explosion! Just the right level of heat with fresh ingredients that was like shrimp and grits on steroids. The grit cake was nice and crisp on the outside while maintaining creamy grits on the inside. I highly recommend this delight. Now they have homemade key lime pie so how could I say no. It was the perfect tart ending to a great meal and I would stop here just for this. LoLo's has a great vibe and a beautiful waterfront setting that makes it easy to relax and enjoy a meal. The seafood was fresh, and the crawfish were definitely the highlight of the table. The street corn was also very delicious. Service was friendly and welcoming, although things moved a little slower than expected during our visit. It wasn't a big issue since the view made the wait for our check more enjoyable, but it's something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry. A quiet little gem off of Folly Road that sits on a small body of water. I sat outside and the breeze felt amazing at 1pm. Tried the she crab soup which was very hearty. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which came with fries but the catch of the day was a whole headless and bone-in flounder or grouper bites or sandwich. For my liking, the crab cake sandwich could have been fried a little longer to further cook the batter. I suggest maybe trying the shrimp burger instead as it seems to be a customer favorite. The hushpuppies come with a side of honey butter. I also ordered the three-layer coconut cake which was light and fluffy and had a wonderful flavor for the palate. Not sure about the name of this place because we know it as LoLo's Seafood Shack. But regardless of the name, if you don't stop here?...you're missing out big time! The She Crab Soup was amazing! I had the shrimp and grits on the recommendation of the owner. It didn't disappoint. I typically don't like grits at lunch, but it was prepared as a cake with shrimp, and a spicy mushroom gravy over it. Delicious! My husband had the blackened grouper fish sandwich and said it was really good. The staff here are awesome and you can sit inside or outside with a serene view of the marshes. We found Locklear's (Lolo's) on Yelp on a recent vacation and went for lunch after a dolphin cruise nearby. It's a cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and water views. Our group of six was seated quickly. We ordered a few appetizers for the table: Brussels sprouts, hush puppies, and okra, all of which we enjoyed. The Brussels sprouts were particularly good. For the meal itself I had the 1/4 fried platter with oysters and scallops. I found the oysters a little oily but the scallops were quite good. Others had the crab cakes (good) and a few other menu items. Before our food was served, our server got reassigned to the bar, but no one replaced her as our server. While she tried to come by in between bar patrons, service dramatically declined. We ended up with no sauces for our meals and two drinks we ordered (and asked after a few times) didn't arrive until we'd finished the entire meal. When we arrived the gravel parking lot was packed. We got the last spot. There was seating available inside and outside. No reservations are needed. We were seated inside at the last table. It had a casual, rustic vibe and lots of windows to see the gorgeous view of the water. Our waitress was friendly. We both ordered the grouper sandwich special which came with fries and the broiled scallops. The food had absolutely no flavor. I mean NO flavor. The grouper was deep fried and served on a bun with lettuce and tomato and light sauce with old bay seasoning. I asked for some extra sauce and the waitress said it's on the bun. I said I would like more and she never brought it. Never checked on me, never refilled drinks. The scallops had no flavor. They could have been boiled in plain water. Tasted like nothing. The fries didn't even have any flavor so I just loaded them up with ketchup. I had water to drink. The bill was $68 for food with no flavor and no service from the waitress. The food was of poor quality, no taste, no service. The only thing Lolo's has going for it is the view. I will NOT be back. I do not recommend. read more

There were so many amazing things about Lolo's (as it's locally known) that I don't know where to start? The casual waterfront dining? Gorj. The indoor/outdoor hybrid of said waterfront dining? In addition to all of the wonderful things, the food itself was great. I wanted to have some authentic seafood while down near Folly Beach, and Lolo's did not disappoint. My brother and I left a lot of food behind (well... we took a lot of food home with us) because our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ordered too much. It was all too good to actually leave behind. We started with the crab cakes where were prepared to perfection with a delicious drizzle of some autumn-colored sauce. As an alternate appetizers, we also went with the Brussels sprouts, which came topped with bleu cheese, some veggies, and another tasty drizzle. For our entrees, my brother went with the shrimp Po Boy, basically a fried shrimp sub, and crispy French fries. I had the fried scallops. They were good, but in hindsight, I probably would have gotten a more authentic taste if I had gone with broiled instead of fried. This is my error and certainly nothing against the incredible staff at Lolo's. The staff was attentive and answered our questions for recommendations. I'll be generous because this place met our expectations. Metro DC folks visiting Folley Beach and passed by this place which had a sign "soft shell crabs." Just had to come back for this after visiting the beach. About a mile away and on its own, don't expect much out of ambience. Wooden picnic tables in an airy space beside a river (or swamp). This is what adds allure to the place. Then Lolo's had me with the fries alone. Hot and crunchy even as it gets cold. The soft shell crab was huge and tasted amazing as a sandwich. Ditto with breaded scallops as a po boy sandwich. My wife says the fried okra, substituted for her fries were equally good; just not a fan of okra. And these sandwiches cost less than $ 20! Not a drinker but they do have a bar and serve cocktails. I was here at 2:30 pm on a Thursday and the place was packed.
