    Folly Lover Sushi Roll
    James H.

Our group stopped by for lunch today while visiting Folly, and we couldn't have picked a better spot. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and the service was fantastic - super friendly and impressively quick. We decided to keep it light and ordered a bunch of appetizers to share after our dolphin tour. Everything came out fresh and hit the spot. I got the "Folly Lover" sushi roll, which was absolutely delicious - perfectly rolled and full of flavor. A lot of folks in our group went for the frozen drinks that came in fun souvenir cups, and everyone was raving about them. We also shared plates of fried calamari and chicken nachos. Both were packed with flavor and great for passing around the table. The atmosphere was laid-back and exactly what you'd want after a morning out on the water. I'd definitely come back here next time we're in the area - it's a perfect spot to relax, grab some tasty bites, and enjoy the Folly vibe.

    Peel and eat shrimp

We came in for a drink and some apps. Both of us got margaritas. The cup was filled to the brim with ice and they tasted like there was zero alcohol in them. Then we got peel and eat shrimp. The shrimp tasted great, but the price felt like a ripoff. We ended up heading out and not staying to order more like we wanted to. Our server was very kind, but seemed like she may have been under the influence. The whole experience felt kind of chaotic. The tables were all scuffed up and appeared dirty. Turning tables super fast with no cleaning in between. I'd checkout somewhere else if you're in the area.

Everything here was surprisingly solid. One of the best restaurant options in the Folly Beach area. Spicy tuna roll was great, and so was the grilled mahi and Mac n cheese

    Blackened mahi
    Kalyn M.

Service was slow. Too many people packed into a small space so they could maximize tables. The food was horrible. Paid a pretty penny for the blackened mahi meal - took one bite and the fish was like chewing rubber. WILDLY overcooked - it almost tasted frozen and like they reheated it multiple times. The rice tasted like plain microwaveable rice. Another person also got the blackened mahi and their fish was no better, so it was not a fluke. Would not recommend for the price, quality, or atmosphere.

Stopped by for the variety this restaurant had and it ended up being just okay. Their happy hour didn't really include much, no food, only like a dollar off certain beers so not great in that aspect. The burger was on special when we went and I got two rolls, spicy shrimp roll and the SC crunch roll, definitely preferred the crunch roll. Service was good but there also wasn't that many people in there either.

    Foggy day, still great.

Good service from Hannah, transplant from Atlanta. Excellent Bloody Mary Great view of ocean and more, even on a foggy day. They haven't quite got their kitchen humming yet.... We had to cancel our order calamari or continue to wait and order another round of cocktails... Too early in the day for that and still needed to bike ride the 2 miles home. They were nice about it. Be patient and look around, it's beautiful to gaze upon.

    Amazing Sushi rolls!

I have been a few times and have always loved Catch 23 since they opened! Great spot to grab food before or after you head to the beach. The rooftop is a great spot to see the sunset with a view of the water. All of their Sushi is delicious, but I've also tried the Folly Burger and recommend it with their special sauce on the side as well. Highly recommend!

Spicy tuna roll and another I can't remember. Good quality, but way too much mayo.

Well, this didn't go well. I'm not from the area, but judging by number and date of reviews, this is a new establishment. They gots some work to do! We stopped in craving some fish and chips. I'm partial to beer batter and the server assured me they were. The fish itself is cod. We also got a couple sushi rolls, hush puppies, and an order of snow crab along with some drinks. I'd say the restaurant and bar was moderately busy. We didn't have to wait for a table on a weeknight during spring break. It took a looooong time for the drinks to show up -- close to 15 minutes. They were fine. The food showed up a little after. When it did, sadness ensued. I knew when the fish & chips was put in front of me that I'd been had: this was not beer batter. Sigh. No matter, let's try it out... My first attempt to cut the fish with my fork barely worked. The batter was hard as a rock, and the fish inside was stringy. Obviously, seriously overcooked. It was completely inedible. I rarely send food back, but this was an exception. The server took it back to the kitchen where it was agreed this was a disaster. She apologized and comped it, which was nice. The hush puppies were flavorless bread balls. My friend who ordered the snow crab had to go at it like an animal since no crab crackers were provided. What a mess! We couldn't believe first of all that they forgot to bring them, and then couldn't locate a set anywhere in the restaurant. Umm... you guys are serving crab. Wtf? Fortunately, being from the northeast, she was able to shrug it off and get it in her mouth regardless. The sushi was probably the best part of the meal. We had two rolls: spicy tuna and something else I can't remember. They were both extremely heavy on the mayo. A real sushi chef would be horrified. It seemed very Americanized. But, the fish itself wasn't bad and we worked our way through it. Overall this was a big miss. We did like the vibe and our server, though a bit busy and overwhelmed, did her best to make sure we had a good time. Hope they can turn this place around.

    Tobago Roll (fantastic)
    Byron M.

This is a pretty nice upgrade from Snapper Jacks. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, we had a great experience! They have sushi. It is somewhat elusive, as they don't give you a sushi menu or have it online. It does exist though, and I'll post a pic of it since you can't find it anywhere else. We had the Tobago Roll and it was honestly much better than I expected it to be. I'd say it was on par with any of the really good sushi rolls I've had. It's much better than it should be for sushi on Folly Beach. You can tell the chef takes pride in the rolls and it shows. The sauces were all delicious, worked well with each other and the fish. Very nice execution. My only complaint (other than parking because, well, Folly...) is the draft beer list is only visible on a monitor in the corner that cycles through several other screens. It's not visible long enough to read it so you have to try and snap a picture. It should be on its own monitor or post it to Untappd, etc.

I repeat. STEAMED OYSTERS. I don't know why anyone will visit this place after 4pm (it's only available then) and not order the steamed oysters. $30 for probably 30-40 the freshest, sweetest oysters you can get. Now, you have to shuck them yourselves and they vary in size. But it's part of the fun, and they're just so, so good. The seafood platter for $33 is a steal too - excellently fried flounder, fresh firmed not-overcooked shrimp, some of the best hush puppies too. - Atmosphere: chill, coastal, laid-back. Live music on Wednesday adding to the vibe. - Environment: hole in the wall. Some comments said it's dirty - it's really not. It's not a fine dining establishment but it's honestly much cleaner than a lot of the ocean shacks I've been to. - Service: yes it's a lot of self-service (you kind of have to clean the table too) and probably not worth 20% tip. But everyone is friendly Anyway, there are a lot of good restaurants in Charleston. But this is the most unique experience. My no.1 recommendation if someone asks.

There's a room of wines for sale, beer, and a few dining tables. Then there's the fresh catch display case... And I must say, their selection is consistently great. The quality and freshness is top notch. And they usually have some hard to find fresh catch. What makes CudaCo stand out from other markets is that you can pick your desired catch from the display case and then have them cook it to your liking. Everything that I've had was literally foot stomping good. And to add to that, they also offer frozen seafood, premade dips, and many other items in the freezer section. Was prob the worst fried flounder I've ever had, to be completely honest. But that's not why I give this place such a low rating. It's the service. Both times I've been here - the first time to eat there and the second time to just buy some fresh fish to cook at home - the people who worked there have been borderline rude. Maybe rude is the wrong word. Personality-less might be a better descriptor. There was a major vibe of - "what do you want...because you're bothering me..." if that makes sense. Contrast that with Crosby's down the road (heading towards Folly Beach on the right) and the difference is STARK. Crosby's people are *always* so nice and helpful. Can't tell you how many times I've struck up a conversation about what I was buying and how I was planning to cook it at Crosby's. CudaCo, on the other hand, is cold and their staff seems completely indifferent about their customers. It's why I never go there anymore and I tell everyone I know to avoid it like the plague. Bottom line, save your time and money and go to Crosby's instead. Life's too short to be treated the way CudaCo treats their customers.

Again...it was good...not great. I cook way better salmon at home on a cedar plank over real charcoal, so maybe I'm being unfair here? I dunno. The salad itself was heavy on arugula, which I'm not a huge fan of. Which is odd, because I love the flavor of pepper! Anyway, the menu made it sound like it was more fennel-oriented, so... There was plenty of outdoor seating, and the tables had umbrellas, which was nice.
