The Griffon is a fun, laid-back pub right in downtown Charleston with tons of character. The walls covered in dollar bills give it a unique, old-school charm, and the vibe is lively but relaxed--perfect for hanging out with friends or grabbing a casual meal. We ordered a good mix of food: nachos, wings, shrimp BBQ, a Reuben, the Griffon burger, Philly chicken, and a chicken burger. The Griffon burger was the standout--soft, juicy, and absolutely delicious. The Reuben was good too and hit the spot. The nachos, wings, and shrimp BBQ were solid pub bites. That said, the Philly chicken and chicken burger weren't great and didn't really stand out compared to the rest. Overall, it's a great spot for drinks, atmosphere, and classic pub food--especially if you stick with their burgers. Definitely worth a stop when you're in Charleston.

The Griffon is full of character and right in the heart of Charleston, making it the perfect spot for a quick drink. The beer selections solid and the vibe feels lived in rather than made for tourists. But the real charm are the walls. They're covered floor to ceiling in dollar bills that patrons have stapled up over the years. Best part? When the walls fill up completely, the bar donates every dollar to charity. Such a cool spot!

Great and convenient location to have a beverage. Didn't try the food. Nice selection of beers and you can leave a dollar with your name- bar decorated with them.

We had a group of 6 only for drinks before we went on the ghost tour, we did not eat here. The prices did seem fair compared to most for the area. It is a tiny place so if it gets packed, might be tight but what little time we spent here it was OK for grabbing a drink.

Grabbed a bite with friends before a tattoo appointment but here's what we found. The ambiance is very dive bar-ISH. There is a slew of dollar bills all over from the top to the bottom of the pub. It was a little bit busy for a Monday afternoon. With the right group of people, it's a great time. The service was normal, nothing out of the norm but nothing bad. The food was decent, okay portions for the price (it is Charleston). Over all it wasn't a bad experience, but even better with great company.

Cute divey feeling pub downtown. No reservations, seat yourself so keep that in mind if you're going on a busy night/weekend. Kid friendly, has highchairs but no kids menu. I had a black bean burger with fries that made my vegetarian heart so happy. Husband really liked his fish and chips and my son was very happy with his fried shrimp and fries. Good beer options I had a blueberry blonde that was very light and refreshing. I would definitely go back for a pop in but wouldn't plan on a group of hungry people definitely getting a seat. Bathrooms are one at a time male and female

Quaint dive bar, with a quirky atmosphere. Usually packed, friendly staff. Food is okay, except for the fish & chips. That item is great.

Average bar but since the prices are good for downtown I'd recommend. The drinks are okay. Pretty watered down but it was $7 for a well drink so I can't really complain. I got what I paid for. The service was attentive (we sat at the bar). Typical dive bar feel inside with some harsh lighting. Bathrooms were pretty disgusting. Fries and fried pickles were decent but pickles were the spears if you're into that kind of thing. Ranch was weak.

This place is pure fun. Great service, authentic food, with a very fun European pub vibe. Best fish & chips I've had outside of England!

Beer at the bar. Cold. Good.

Got a beer. It was good. And cold. Highly recommend. Did I mention it was cold? And good.

Great atmosphere. The dollars covered every wall! It was great service and food and beer were delicious. Loved that they kept the door open to outside fresh air.

Our first stop on this Charleston trip & it wasn't on my list but I'm so glad we stumbled upon it!…read moreWe sat outside in the outdoor area, where you order at the bar and the bartenders will bring your drinks, and food out. It was easy & we loved our lunches! I chose the double smash burger which was so delicious and filling! Loved it! Hubs chose the Cobb chicken salad and he loved it! Ate every bite & reports that the chicken was fried perfectly without too many clumps or batter lumps. We would absolutely come back for brunch items! Cool things: the bathroom wallpaper was epic, outside they have a water cooler with cups for self help access & a dog bowl for those who bring their pups. Loved that!

A group of about 8 of us went out for drinks Saturday (5/2/26). We were having a great time (respectful, quiet, not causing a problem). Last call hit at 1:30 so we decided one more drink before we went our ways home. 10 mins later we're were asked to leave the courtyard and head inside - not a problem. We will finish our drinks inside. 5 minutes after that, we were asked to take our last sips and leave. 15 mins before the posted closing time. Again, we weren't causing a problem, weren't loud, weren't disruptive. This was a group of 8, most of us well into our 40s (or older). But they were telling all guests to leave at 1:45a?? Just after we bought drinks? The posted hours say they close at 2a. Not 1:45a. Most of us left half finished drinks. The large bouncer was nice enough, the tiny one in a hoodie with glasses was totally unprofessional. So beware. The Blind Tiger has what it takes to remain a Charleston institution. Their staff, might ruin that chance.

Stopped in mid day on Saturday and didn't have a reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes which isn't too bad. You can walk around the hotel while you wait. They had a specialty fall cocktail menu which was super cool. I ordered the Haunted Market Street Margarita and it was amazing. It had charcoal simple syrup and lava salt which gave it such an interesting flavor. We shared the Pimento cheese appetizer and I am so glad we ordered. It was so good and the presentation was beautiful. I don't normally enjoy pimento but I did here. My parents shared the turkey club and said it was great. Will always stop by when I'm in Charleston. Great place to watch a game if you can get a seat at the bar.

The service was warm and friendly, and their attitudes couldn't have been more pleasant. The pimento cheese was spot on and delivered by the executive sous chef herself. I have never had a Smashburger before, but if this is what I compare them all to this one is definitely a winner.

The Scene This is a solid spot to catch football or whatever…read moregame you're following. The restaurant is nicely spread out, so even when it's busy, you don't feel crammed in or shouting over the table next to you. There are plenty of TVs and good sightlines, making it easy to stay locked into the game without feeling overwhelmed. The Eats The food holds its own for a sports pub. I've ordered the wings and a couple of burgers, and they've always been enjoyable. That said, the real MVP here is the nachos. Loaded, satisfying, and perfect for sharing -- they're easily the best thing on the menu in my opinion and my go-to order every time. The Service Service has been consistently solid. The wait staff works their sections well, greets you quickly, and gets orders in without long waits. Even during game time, things move smoothly, which makes a big difference when you're there to relax and watch the action. Parting Thoughts If you're looking for a reliable place to watch a game with good food and enough space to be comfortable, Charleston Sports Pub is a strong choice. Come for the TVs, stay for the nachos, and enjoy not feeling rushed or crowded -- that alone earns repeat visits.

The 'popper' was a large pepper that was cut in half with PIMENTO cheese spread placed in the cut half. Then they coated it in TEMPURA batter. Really. It was a mess. The batter didn't stick. It was awful to look at. I took one bite. It tasted worse. The burger was ok, but the fries were so soggy and sprinkled with some crazy southwest spice that I didn't even taste them.
