Little Jack's Tavern is the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer. The atmosphere feels timeless--warm, classic, and cozy without trying too hard. I ordered the Tavern Burger (a Charleston must), and it lived up to the hype: perfectly seasoned, juicy, and just the right size on that sesame bun. The garlic & herb fries were addictive--crispy, fragrant, and impossible to stop picking at. The Caesar salad was fresh and well-balanced with crunchy gremolata breadcrumbs, and the chicken cutlet (crispy Milanese-style) was golden, tender, and topped with a bright arugula salad that kept it light. To drink, I went with the Bohemian Rhaspberry cocktail--refreshing, slightly tart, and a fun contrast to the richer plates on the table. It tied the whole meal together. The service was friendly and attentive as well.

We were on our way from the beach in North Carolina to Florida. We used yelp to find a lunch place along the way and ended up in Charleston. We were planning on eating at Leon's Fine Poultry and Oyster Bar. We arrived and put our name on the list but the wait was over an hour and we still had a lot of driving to do. I remembered reading the Leon's had some sister establishments nearby so we walked around and looked at the nearby restaurants. Little Jacks was really cute and had a smallish menu and they had no wait. We all loved what we ordered. I had the salad with shrimp added. It was so good! Our wait staff was amazing. I think her name was Ansley. There was one strange thing. For a place that seemed to be predominantly a bar it did not have soda on tap. We ordered cokes and diet cokes and they came out of plastic bottles and were a little flat as they are.

Little Jacks Tavern for lunch is a great little gem. I can't recall one of the appetizers we had, but not pictured we had the brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Both were good especially if you like brussel sprouts. I got the shrimp burger and I didn't know what to expect, but when it came out and had my first bite it had that nice chargrilled flavor. I'm definitely glad I got this burger. Our waitress was really good and took good care of us. Restaurant was very clean and had an outdoor section to enjoy the nice Charleston days or nights.

The atmosphere was fun and the food was good! We sat outside and it was a screened in area with heaters which made it more comfortable. We order mainly appetizers with the chicken as the main course which I thought was a good balance. We liked everything but only loved a few items. Food was good for the price and can see it being a great lunch spot. Our server was attentive and nice. Great experience!

The Little Jack's burger truly lives up to the hype! Awesome signature sauce for the fries too. The cozy tavern has a great vibe, with excellent cocktails and a friendly staff. We took part in a Blackbird deal earlier this year and waited 3 hours for our burgers--totally worth it! (Especially when you can grab some drinks at Graft & get a text once your table is ready!) I'm definitely looking forward to visiting the Little Jack's team again soon!

Still the best burgers around. This is the first time we been to LJT where we went for lunch and could enjoy dinning outside. We both really enjoyed the quaint little patio and comfortable seating and it is so much quieter than eating inside. Service while not over the top was good. If you are not aware, Bon Appetit's Restaurant once named Little Jack's Tavern Burger as the nations best. And while I have not had the pleasure of eating every burger in the US, it might be hard to find one that is better. This is a a quarter-pound beef patty, with griddled onion, with gooey American cheese, served on a sesame seed bun. I ordered the larger double Tavern burger with extra cheese. The only thing that is disappointing, is that LJT no longer serves their house made chips with caviar.

My friend & I were in town for a girls trip & got a late dinner reservation for their patio on the day we drove in. Everything was lovely - service, food & cocktails! We got the burger & also an order of surf & turf - the server didn't steer us wrong! Service was attentive but not overwhelming, answered our questions & gave excellent recommendations- we weren't rushed & definitely recommend for a casual night with great vibes!

Yummy food for late eats! Veggie burger, fries & Brussels were pretty swinging! It was a little late so we had to get it to go & eat it at the hotel but it definitely hit the spot!

This may sound crazy but I have already been to Little Jacks twice in three days for lunch. I've been going here for years but lately it has been all I crave. I order the exact same thing every time- Crudités & Dip, Garlic Knots, and the Twins (two small burgers and fries). It is the perfect meal for two people and such a lovely lunch spot. Literally nothing beats it. The Crudités are some of the freshest, crunchiest veggies I've ever tasted, doused in olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt. It's served with an avocado mousse that pairs perfectly. Garlic knots are soft and flavorful and the cheese dip that comes with it also pairs perfectly. The burgers are out of this world; I love the size and that it's not too big of a burger but is packed with juiciness and taste. This has become my regular lunch spot because I love the balanced meal I get when ordering these things all together!

$16 Slider
Eric C.

Pretty misleading "burger". It's not a burger, it's a slider. Think White Castle, but for $16 per slider. It came highly recommended so we didn't ask a lot of questions. Fortunately it tasted good, but is very minimal (1/16 lb patty, 1/4 slice of cheddar, some sautéed onions on one bite, house sauce, and slider bun). No lettuce, tomato, etc... included or offered. It tasted good and the fries were good. It was served on a salad plate to make it appear to be more quantity (kind of like trimming the shrubs to make the porch look bigger). Also, the water tasted like dirty armpit so stick with bottled or an adult beverage. I think it was the particular bottle we had as the glass they served initially tasted fine, but when I poured from the bottle, I was hit with the putrid smell before I could ever take a sip. My wife said the same when she smelled it. Unfortunately no one came by and at that point we were ready to go. The most redeeming part was our server. She was friendly and very helpful with my wife's siliac in ordering, but then disappeared for the most part. I just wish she had given a heads up on the size of the burger and checked in to see if we needed anything right after we had a chance to taste it. At the end of the day it was fine. They were open. We were hungry. We're no longer hungry. It did the job.

Everything started off great. Food was really good. Service was really good. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Lots of character and cozy! Then my daughter-in-law ordered a slice of cheesecake to take home with her. When she got home and opened up the box, there was mold on top of the cheesecake. It honestly looked like whoever put it in the container, tried to scrape off the mold from the top of the cheesecake because there was bits of it all over on the top of the cheesecake, and the top of the cheesecake was not smooth like a normal cheesecake should be. So very disappointing! I was ready to give this place five stars until this happened.

Ask the Community - Little Jack's Tavern

Is there anything besides salad for vegetarians?

Yes- they have a wonderful veggie burger and I'd recommend the Brussels or fries as a side. Start with the beautiful crudités and finish with cheesecake and a cocktail and you're golden.

I see the price of the Tavern burger went up from $8 to $10, with everyone's complaint in the size, did it get bigger?

Not only is the burger small but it is NOW, $15! Tastes good but NOT WORTH $15. I will NOT be coming back.

Do they offer Gluten Free buns? Thanks :)

No. They do not

From the moment I walked in, the vibe was intimate, beautiful, and the perfect setting for a relaxed Saturday night cap. What made the experience truly special was the bartender. There's no traditional menu, instead, he takes the time to learn what you like and crafts drinks based on your taste. I've never experienced anything like that before. The level of knowledge and creativity behind the bar was incredible. Every drink he made was stunning and tasted even better than it looked. I was honestly so impressed that I couldn't even remember all the ingredients he mentioned because I was too busy being amazed at how good everything was. It was one of those moments where you realize there are real levels to this craft. I walked in thinking I knew a thing or two about mixing drinks at home, and left with a whole new respect for the art of it. The atmosphere, the personal attention, and the quality of the cocktails made this place feel truly top tier. Huge shoutout to the bartender, easily a 15 out of 10. Cool, knowledgeable, and passionate about what he does. If you're looking for an intimate spot for date night or just want to experience thoughtfully crafted cocktails in a beautiful setting, the Annex is the place. I will absolutely be back as soon as possible.

(On occasion, I rant about how we need more cocktail bars and wine bars that don't serve food at all or just snacks like nuts - don't get me started.) Last Saint is a really cool dual concept cocktail bar. The front of Last Saint is more casual - small, cozy, allows walk-ins. But you can also make reservations (or try to get lucky walking in) at the Annex. The Annex is their weekends-only cocktail experience in the back of Last Saint. You walk to the back of the bar and press ring the bell by the yellow door. Someone answers and seats at one of six seats at the bar and three small (but private) tables. The Annex is a no-menu experience. The friendly and creative staff ask you questions about your preferences for drinks and then make you something that fits the bill. It was personal and fun, and we enjoyed all the drinks we had. A reservation at the Annex is good for a 1.5 hour time frame, which was perfect for us to have two drinks before closing out and heading to our dinner reservation. We sat at the bar, which I loved, because we got to chat with the staff and watch them make our and others' drinks while we enjoyed our creative cocktails. The staff have a wide knowledge of cocktails and an almost endless supply of ingredients to choose from when making your drinks. A truly fun experience. One I haven't had in any other city. I wish there were more bars like Last Saint!

It sets the tone immediately, and the festive energy carries straight through the meal. We kicked things off with Bloody Marys and a Morning Fog -- simple, classic, and done right. They come as a small plate with three appetizer-sized tacos, and every bite was bright, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The Buddy the Elf Burger offers a choice of a single or double patty; ours was cooked perfectly. The smoky bacon really brought everything together and gave it that extra "wow" factor. We rounded things out with the O Come, All Ye Fried Rice with Hanger Steak, which was another winner -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. As if the meal wasn't great enough on its own, we happened to be there while Emily Curtis was performing. She's truly incredible and added such a fun, memorable vibe to the day. I'd be remiss not to mention Kevin our server. Go see him. He was great. The whole team works great together. Don't let the bar-like atmosphere fool you -- Prohibition is far from your typical bar food or bar scene. There's a great space in the back, and the elevated menu makes it absolutely worth the visit. The grand finale was the Boeuf En Croute which was their play on a beef wellington. The filet was a nice medium rare with a flaky pastry crust and a delicious sauce bordelaise.
