Every time I find myself in Charleston I must stop here. Not your average bar at all. I like that they change up their menu so every time I visit there is something new to try. I have never had a bad drink here. I got the Batata Clarified Milk Punch (description in picture) which was fantastic. The toasted marshmallow garnish was a great touch for the season we were in. My mom got the Bourbon and Clyde and she said it was incredible. Description also in picture. The orange foam and pistachio crumble was a great addition. Another great drink for autumn. My second drink was the Smokin Indo which was probably my favorite. They performed the smoked glass technique with applewood which was not only cool to watch but added a unique flavor to the drink. We always make a point to get the assorted cheeses when we are here because they make a great charcuterie board. They switch up the cheeses just like they change their cocktail menu. Love to sit at the bar because it is truly an art to watch the bartenders make these drinks and really adds to the experience. Everyone who works here is super kind and knowledgeable on their craft. However, if you are able to be there when the two Doar brothers are working it makes it truly special. They give postcards with their check and there's a bowl of matchbooks sitting on the bar. The last trip to Charleston, we made a reservation for Doar Bros to pop in for a cocktail after dinner. I loved the atmosphere! It's super cozy, very chic, and pretty small. The service was on point and the bartender was killing it at the bar - multitasking making 3 drinks all at once. It was super impressive and I took a few videos of him. I'm giving 4 stars because the first cocktail I ordered was SO SWEET that I couldn't get it down. I tried to drink it but had to send it back. We asked when we ordered about the flavor profile and supposedly it wasn't sweet, but all 3 of us agreed it was way oversweet. My black manhattan was phenomenal and my husband had a mocktail moscow mule that was awesome. So good. We went every day we were in Charleston. Get the bourbon and Clyde obviously. Also get the clarified milk punch. Total favorites. The Tatas is good too, very refreshing. Ticket to paradise is delicious but more grapefruit forward. The mole drink I think is good if you like mezcal and consider that you're drinking mole. I think a very craft quality drink just wasn't for me. The smoked drink was also delicious. The popcorn is so so good and the cheese board is really nice. The staff and owners are lovely. Loved it. Stopped here while in Charleston. Host was super kind and let us have a few drinks without a resy. If you are a craft cocktail aficionado, this is a must stop. Me wife had some delightful gin cocktails, including the elusive Last Word, and I had some Bourbon cocktails- Bonnie and Clyde and a manhattan. The Bonnie and Clyde was criminal. Bonnie up top with some pistachios and egg white with Clyde bringing that whiskey on the back end. Looked gorgeous and tasted even better than it looked. Manhattan was fantastic as well. Place was super charming with good vibes and great music. If we did not have dinner resys elsewhere, we would have gotten some bites which I'm sure would be just as good as the drinks. read more

The problem with Charleston is how many great places there are to drink and eat, it is hard to stand out but Doar Bros. manages to succeed well! Despite the number of people, it was very easy to hear everyone in my group which caught my attention. This place was packed and yet no issue carrying on conversation with ease. The service was amazing. Our waiter kept the drinks coming, discussed the various alcohols, and managed to somehow deliver very full cocktails without spilling a drop. I was hugely impressed. I love visiting a new city and checking out the best cocktail bar in town. In Charleston, that's Doar Brothers. And unlike most bougie cocktail spots, it also manages to stay comfortable and approachable at the same time. I had the Bourbon and Clyde, which was a delicious dessert cocktail, and another drink that is no longer on the menu and whose name I can't recall. Both were well balanced and delicious. I also had the bread pudding, which took a few minutes to come out but really hit the spot. I ended the night with a carajillo, which is a coffee drink that they make with Licor 43.
