This was our appetizer. We actually just got a couple of the scallops as an appetizer. It was the perfect size.

The service was impeccable, the food was delicious. The ambience was upbeat and fun. I would suggest anybody going to this restaurant. It was a big hit for us. Our serving Molly was the best!

Took my sister here for her graduation and High Cotton knocked it out of the park. We had the best window seat in the house beautiful views and a warm, elegant atmosphere that felt perfect for a celebration. The food was incredible start to finish. Baked Oysters to kick things off, a refreshing Waldorf Salad, and a Ribeye cooked to perfection. The Lobster Mac and Cheese and Whipped Potatoes were standout sides, the Lavender Haze cocktail was gorgeous, and the Strawberry Cake was the perfect finale. Our server Taylor was the highlight of the night, attentive, warm, and made the whole experience feel special. We'll definitely be back!

Solid spot. We walked in and grabbed a table in the longer area which is first come first serve, super easy. I had the eggs benedict and it hit the spot. They had a band playing which was a nice touch and made the vibe feel fun without being too much. Service was good and everything came out quick. Would definitely go back.

Food was incredible, service was beyond for our large party of 10, and the ambiance is old southern charm meeting elegance.

It was a lovely place with very kind staff. However, I am someone with many allergies and it was difficult for me to eat. They promised that my food would be made a specific way, but when it came out, it was not made correctly (came out without any modifications from the menu). So I had to wait for my food to be remade and once it came out again I was excited. However, I am someone with insane strict allergies, the more simple the food the better. Also, please note that I do not choose to go out to eat- I usually actively avoid going out to eat. This is the first time since my diagnosis that I went out because I wanted to see if I would ever be able to enjoy a restaurant again. With that being said, after explaining that I needed bland food with no additional things added on it, I was shocked to see that my fruit bowl came with honey drizzled on top of it. I had already eaten some of the fruit before noticing and once I did notice I stopped eating it since I cannot have honey. The server was extremely kind and she was doing her best to help assist me. I'm not sure if my diet is just too strict for them to be able to follow or what the deal was. Hopefully others with allergies have easier times here.

First off, service is amazing. They kept my sparking water cold on ice and kept it filled (I could see it in the ice bucket nearby, a touch that matters!). Annie M. was my server and was beautiful, warm, and helpful with the recommendations. A real girls girl, if that makes sense, and I really appreciated that. In fact, everyone here was so stylish and beautiful, but didn't make you feel less than or like you had to be dressed any fancier than you were. I started with the fried green tomatoes, with pimento cheese. These were fine, but could have used maybe a little more spice or seasoning? I've had better, especially when bacon is involved, but they were still good. I had the special, which was swordfish with beans, swimming in lobster bisque, dressed in crisp greens. It was a DELICIOUS meal, complex flavors that burst in my mouth. The sword fish was prepared expertly. I am so glad I took the chance! Other entrees available: she-crab soup calamari, oysters, scallops, salmon, halibut, shrimp and grits, crab cakes, steaks (wagyu, ribeye, filet mignon, NY strip). Bar: I had this summer rose (gin, st. Germaine, elderflower liqueur, rosemary, grapefruit juice, lime); reposado Royale (clase Azul, st. Germaine, maraschino liqueur, sparking wine, lemon twist), and high thyme (gin, blackberry liqueur, cranberry juice, orgeat syrup, thyme, lemon). The drinks were great, but unlike many places I've been, the food is the show here. Wonderful experience and would return without hesitation because this is a trifecta: ambiance/service, food, booze.

I came to High Cotton for brunch with friends: what a beautiful place!! At first we were irritated because our 11:15AM reservation had a delay in being seated (and we were on a time crunch), but honestly, everything afterwards was so good, I almost forgot about it! We were up front with staff about needing to be done by 12:45pm, and they 100% delivered! We were seated at a gorgeous table right by the windows. We loved the decor and overall ambiance, with classic Charleston paintings on the walls. The fans in the main room are also very pretty! For cocktails, we got peach nectar mimosas: SO GOOD!!! Our friends got Bloody Mary's, which they also enjoyed. For appetizers, my sister got a cup of the creamy crab soup (SO GOOD!) and we shared the crispy calamari (also good!) for my main, I ordered the Eggs Benedict with cheesy grits, my sister ordered the Crab Eggs Benedict with potato hash, and our friends ordered the High Cotton Cinnamon Roll, egg whites omelet, and the chicken and waffles. Honestly, everything was EXCELLENT. Good flavor, attentive service, and fabulous locale!! The servers are also so professional and neatly dressed! You truly feel like you are in a high-end restaurant in every sense. We would 100% return here on another trip to Charleston! Our friends treated us to this brunch, so I don't know the bill total! But believe me when I say that it's worth it!!

Service was fantastic! Ambiance top notch! The steak was cooked perfectly, just a little bland. I also had the oysters fried, excellent with the paired sauce.

One of the only places open downtown at 11:30 on a Saturday mornin--what's up with that?! Anyway the service was excellent. Food was tasty--great omelet and sweet potato hash. The Caesar salad was dry and the toast croutons were absolutely nothing special. Truffle fries, on the other hand, were outstanding. Truly a delicious experience.

We had great service at the bar and lounge. We came in because our original option was closed but really enjoyed our espresso martinis. The perfect amount of froth, sweetness and perfectly coffee forward. They had great live music and lots of intimate searing options. I will definitely be back to try some of their bar bites and the actual restaurant.

Ask the Community - High Cotton

    Do they have parking?

    No... you pay for parking

Is this place accessible for someone with a walker?

Yes. May be one step up but not steep.

    Do you need reservations?

It's depends on the day and time you are trying to dine. I would grab a reservation just in case! You're able to make reservations online.

    What is the dress code?

We dressed business casual but there were people there in jeans and sweats

What is parking like? Is it valet or is there a garage/lot to park in?

They didn't have valet but there's a parking garage a block from there that was reasonably priced. I think we paid $5.

    Is brunch available on Saturday?

Yes. According to their website, brunch is available Saturday and Sundays from 10am- 2pm

Is there live jazz on Saturday night?

The Saturday night I was there they have live jazz but most of the rooms you cannot actually see the musicians but you can hear them and it all adds up to an elegant dinner experience.

Who is the guy greeting guests (sorry I don't remember his name) and shaking hands as guests enter and leave?

    Alpha...he's amazing

Would this place be ok to bring my 10&8 year old for their fathers birthday?

Yes, we would welcome your children! We have Children's Menus for both brunch and dinner.

To start Abigail, our waitress, was attentive, helpful, super sweet and just about the best waitress I have ever had. My wife and I ordered a round of cocktails, expecting the usual great description with subsequent lack luster drinks. Last night was different, midnight bloom which is their take on an old fashioned, but really in a different league; Smooth complex, and satisfying. My wife got the Ruby Ruby which is sort of a pomegranate martini with champagne. Refreshing and vibrant. For appetizers we had the blue crab fritters and the pork belly. The fritters were crispy, light, and full of crab flavor. Virtually no filler. I could have eaten a hundred. The pork belly was crispy, and rich without being too heavy. They also serve it in a white sauce that I was still thinking about the next day. For entrees we got the Roasted grouper and the pork shank. The grouper was maybe a bit overcooked and dry, but the accompanying butter beans stole the show. The were rich, and layered with flavor. I will never see the simple butter bean in the same way ever again. The pork was fall off the bone tender without being dry. The sauce it was served in was a masterpiece. There were hints of apple, berry, cinnamon, and many other notes, I would drink it by the glass if it was available. We split the gelato for dessert. Pure delight. Smooth, bursting with flavor, and leaving you wanting for more. All in all, except for a small misstep with the cook on the grouper a near perfect dinner. I would go there soon because a Michelin star can not be far off, and then getting a table will be a near impossibility.

Nice list of 3 mocktails so even if not consuming alcohol one can look to play the part at the table and enjoy the flavor notes of a well made cocktail. The first meal we had was a bit of a work/get together meal. We ordered an assortment of items off of the menu and created a more tapas menu. The charcuterie board we picked the cheeses for and it was lovely. All as expected and quite surprised to find a cheddar I enjoyed. Came with some grapes, figs, nuts, honey and I think mustard. Glazed carrots were phenomenal. Heartily enjoyed the beet salad and thought the presentation was quite pretty. Lamb lettuce wraps are alright. Not my favorite of all the dishes served but delivered as promised, nicely cooked and presented. Spouse really liked the lamb wraps and were a stand out dish to them. Meatballs are excellent truly great texture and flavor. Escargot was a fun take on a classic dish. Finished with a unique strudel in its presentation it was quite pleasant. Spouse liked the peanut butter chocolate dessert. For brunch, I had the carrot ginger soup. Which I must say was a total delight. The soup had the hallmark texture and base flavor of the carrot ginger but it had a beautiful breath of savory and some heat seasoning wise to it. It was quite an elevated soup and heartily enjoyed! I followed the carrot soup with a French toast. I am all for softly scrambled eggs but the French toast was a touch undercooked. (I did not let the restaurant know or give them the chance to make right. I regularly eat soft boiled eggs and soft scrambled so I felt comfortable with consuming them.) Strawberries were ripe and tasty. The whipped cream was gorgeous in thickness and flavor. One in law had the caesar salad with croutons and grilled chicken. Their bowl was left clean so while they are not the talkative of sorts they did seem to enjoy it. Ordered a baguette with butter. Unfortunately the butter never made it to the table but the baguette was enjoyed. Spouse had the Azur burger with the side of tapas style potatoes. All was cooked properly to temperature and texture. Flavor and taste as promised. Wasn't their favorite dish at Azur as we had tried so many lovely dishes a few evenings before. But it did deliver on what was represented in the menu. Other in law had the quiche and a side salad. They liked the quiche and would order it again.
