caprese ravioli with prosciutto
Sasha P.

If I could give Azur 10 stars, I would. Hands down, one of the best meals and experiences we've had in Charleston. It was our first time here and all I can say is, WOW. We will absolutely be coming back again next trip! It's a cute little spot with pretty decor and a nice outdoor seating area with heaters. The sweet welcome we received when we checked in at the front was a great sign of the service to come. We were a party of 4 (make a reservation!) and were seated immediately and put in our drink orders. Our server was super knowledgeable and joked around with us, too. She had great recommendations and we took every piece of advice she had. The food was all SO GOOD. We had the beet salad, bread and olive oil, bread and whipped ricotta, Boeuf en Croute, caprese ravioli + prosciutto, affogato and a peanut butter bliss dessert. I'm drooling just thinking about this. The Boeuf en Croute was probably the best all 4 of us have ever had - and the gravy that it came with, holy cow. I even dipped one of my ravioli in it because it was THAT good. It's definitely not a touristy spot, and the locals we spoke to at the table next to us really appreciated that.

We stopped into Azur for a late lunch after a Garden and Gun event, and although it was our first visit, it will absolutely not be our last. Every dish placed before us was outstanding, from the seafood crepes to the smoked salmon crepes to the patatas bravas, and even the desserts we barely had room for but could not bring ourselves to leave without trying. We elected to dine outdoors on their private patio as the day was so beautiful. Perfect choice. One unusually delightful surprise was the tea. This was not standard sweet tea by any stretch. Our waitress offered to mix simple syrup into their hibiscus tea, and we went with that, and it was divine. I recommend it without the proverbial lemon wedge for the record. I have shared images of the massive platters of lunch we received. There was no single standout because everything was equally exceptional. Parking is easy in the adjoining garage, and the surrounding area is filled with very good small business shopping, all walkable from Azur. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My three friends and I were looking for a dinner spot for Saturday night. We found Azur and made a reservation. The place is very nicely decorated and we were seated very promptly. Our server was fantastic and gave excellent recommendations - we shared several dishes - the charcuterie board was phenomenal. The ptit basque was absolutely unreal. We also shared ratatouille, the ricotta zucchini gratin, and the duck leg confit. All were phenomenal, especially the fried Brussels sprouts and potatoes that were on the side of the duck leg confit. The drinks were also great. I had the Papillon and then tried the Parasol. By far the best meal we had in Charleston, and probably one of the best meals I've had in recent memory. Absolutely top notch service and extremely delicious food. My only complaint is that I wish we had saved room for dessert!

Azur is one of our favorite restaurants, which we will frequently visit. It's a cozy little French restaurant, just a step away from King street. There is even a parking garage nearby. The inside vibe is welcoming and I love the cool blue color. There is a nice long bar to sit at, then different tables inside, or sit outside when the weather is nice. We are always greeted by a friendly staff, first upon entering then by our server. The cocktail menu is appealing with many different wine choices, beers, and great cocktails by Mathis. I've enjoyed a few including the Riviera, the Lavandou, and my favorite the Last Word. My husband always getting Ze Old Fashioned, which is smoked right before serving. The food menu features small plates inspired by French, Italian and Spanish cuisine. There are many great sharable appetizers. Our last visit we sat at the bar and enjoyed the carpaccio beets, which was fantastic. A beautiful presentation of thin sliced beets, with arugala and whipped ricotta. We also enjoyed the eggplant gratin delight, and lamb meatballs. On previous visits we've enjoyed different entrees, my favorite is the beef burgundy. No visit would be complete without a dessert, and this time the peanut butter bliss served excellent flavor. We definitely would recommend visiting Azur, as their menu has a great variety that will satisfy everyone's taste. Appreciate that Charleston has this contemporary and inviting restaurant.

I kinda want to give these guys a bad review so I can keep them to myself. The food, service, and experience were amazing! Self proclaimed "European" food, they have dishes from all over. We ordered the tuna Crudo, burrata, and mussels. The mussels do not come with bread, so highly rec ordering a baguette to soak up the mussel broth. The oh la la and pallino were tasty cocktails and look forward to trying more selections on thur when they are on special.

AZUR is a cute and cozy restaurant tucked away just off King street. I was in town by myself and was looking for a place that was friendly to solo diners. It was a rainy night, but boy I'm glad I stumbled across this place. The bar is beautiful and I was able to grab a seat there easily. I ordered the Lavendou drink which was fabulous. Next I had the French onion soup which was quite possibly the best I've ever had (and I've had many at various high end restaurants) it was 10/10. Next I had the burrata which was very good as well. I would have liked more tomatoes, but still the flavors were great 8/10. After hearing through a local man I befriended at the bar that the owner is a pastry chef, I had to get dessert. And I'm so glad I did! Andrew's cheesecake was OUTSTANDING 10/10, honestly one of the lightest cheesecakes I've ever had. Yum. Everything was divine and the ambiance was perfect. Don't skip dessert here! I will definitely be back next time I'm in Charleston.

This is the 2nd time I have been to this fabulous spot, once for apps and drinks and this time for brunch. This is a nicely chic decorated establishment that is family owned. They a located about a block off of King St. The food today was absolutely fabulous and I loved my BLT croissant (so much that I dove into it). The croissant and the perfect texture and buttery flavor, the bacon was crisp and tasty, fresh butter lettuce, avocado, and house mayo (I left the Swiss off since it isn't my jam). The greens salad that it came with and the dressing they applied (vinaigrette) was a great addition). The patas bravas with house made tomato aioli satisfied my breakfast potato craving and I was in heaven as every potato was perfectly browned and cooked dusted with a pleasant seasoning. I had a espresso martini (since I already had my morning hot coffee) which was well made. The dessert was Millie's favorite which was chocolate mousse, raspberry, almond crust, a cookie/cake like base, covered in whipped cream and chocolate. Devine! When you walk in their desserts are showcased in a class case and are definitely a well deserved attention grabber. I definitely got all of my cravings satisfied in this meal today and it was so good I won't feel guilty and back to working out tomorrow. Definitely come check this spot out during your visit to Charleston.

Don't miss a Raclette Dinner at Azur! What a treat this decadent spread was, taking us back to the streets of Paris. It was such a fun experience for my colleagues and myself to DIY raclettes. The setup made the perfect bubbly cheese to drizzled over the baguette bites, prosciutto, and bottomless potatoes. It was so easy to use and left me wanting one for the house! The staff was incredibly accommodating with our last minute double raclette dining request. It felt like a true European restaurant where you have the table for the night and enjoy lots of wine and good conversation for hours. This gem is ideal for an intimate date night, a friends gather, or a business dinner. I can't wait to return to try some cute cocktails at the bar.

Service was pretty good. The ambiance is the most striking and unique - feels very cozy and aesthetically modern while feeling European. Food was pretty good. The apps were the most appealing and flavorful, would come back for those, the aesthetic and drinks. 8.5/10

This place is really special! Walking in I was amazed at the very thoughtful touches and the high-end decor. Such a BEAUTIFUL ambiance! Greeted by the owners who are French which I enjoyed they were so happy to be there. My husband and I came in for drinks specifically. We were visiting from Florida. Our bartender Mathis who was the owners son; he made our experience awesome! He was charismatic and very welcoming. We all conversed and shared laughs and he told us their family history and how they came about with this establishment. Even though we didn't eat dinner (which we regret as we were full from another restaurant) The drinks were AMAZING! A very diverse drink menu. Every drink was made with intent and memorable. Thank you Mathis for being a great mixologist. We will be back!

A Perfect Evening of Food, Drinks, and Atmosphere We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience Saturday night. From start to finish, everything was on point. We started with the mussels in great sauce -- fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked, with a broth so flavorful we ended up dipping our fries into it just to savor every last drop. Speaking of fries, they were crispy and golden, exactly how you want them. We also ordered the beef burgundy with tagliatelle, and it did not disappoint. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sauce was rich and savory, beautifully coating the pasta without overpowering it. But the pasta was good enough by itself. Every bite was comforting and delicious. To finish off the meal, the crème brûlée was silky smooth with the perfect crack of caramelized sugar on top -- a classic done exceptionally well. And the drinks -- hands down some of the best old fashions. Balanced, smooth, and crafted with care. The bartender was not only skilled but also friendly and attentive, adding a great personal touch to the whole evening. Between the amazing food, stellar drinks, and the warm, welcoming service, this is definitely a spot I'll be recommending to friends and coming back to soon.

Great food, cocktails/wine, ambiance. Might be our new go-to! In a town where it seems you can rarely walk in on a whim without a reservation, it was great to just pop in for an impromptu cozy meal. We had escargot, pan con tomate y jamon, frites, mussels, baguette w/ butter, and cheesecake. Amazing wine list. All pastries made in house. Very Euro, which I love!

Before visiting Charleston, my husband and I watched several videos about things to see or do...and most importantly, where to eat! As a good Yelper, I dutifully bookmarked places so I would remember them and Azur was on my list. We had walked the length of King Street and were heading back to the hotel thinking about food. Consulting my bookmarks, I saw that Bar 167 was right near us so we walked over that way but alas, there was already a wait line, even though it was early. Hopeful that we'd be able to try that another night, I saw that Azur was nearby and also in my bookmarks. We walked into a nearly empty restaurant (it was early) and they said they had two tables left, which was fortunate for because by the time we left they were completely packed...so I recommend making a reservation so you don't miss out! We were in that weird in-between stage where we weren't sure how hungry we were but we knew we were thirsty so cocktail orders went in immediately. Readers, can I tell you that my smoked old fashioned was only $10 because they had a happy hour special! It was smoked at the table and was delicious even more so because I know I'd pay twice that at home in NYC. We thought we'd start with a charcuterie plate and then if we were still hungry, we'd order something else, so we did a "build your own" plate with three cheeses and two meats. We also got an additional order of whipped brie with a baguette for good measure. Let me tell you what, that board filled up all four of us. The Italian salami and the roquefort cheeses were my standouts and I loved that they included grapes, figs and walnuts along with the meats & cheeses. Oh, and the whipped brie was outstanding. I'd never had it before but I am anxious to have it again. Because we didn't overdo dinner, we felt like we'd earned dessert. I had the peanut butter bliss which was like a peanut butter mousse coated in chocolate. It was delicious and surprisingly light. The standout for desserts was the apple strudel. Every named that the favorite of the evening. Service was exceptional from beginning to end. Really just a masterclass in hospitality. We never felt rushed, the pacing was right, the communication was excellent. All in all a terrific dining experience which confirms for me that Charleston is a serious food town.

I have never had a bad drink here. I got the Batata Clarified Milk Punch (description in picture) which was fantastic. The toasted marshmallow garnish was a great touch for the season we were in. My mom got the Bourbon and Clyde and she said it was incredible. Description also in picture. The orange foam and pistachio crumble was a great addition. Another great drink for autumn. My second drink was the Smokin Indo which was probably my favorite. They performed the smoked glass technique with applewood which was not only cool to watch but added a unique flavor to the drink. We always make a point to get the assorted cheeses when we are here because they make a great charcuterie board. They switch up the cheeses just like they change their cocktail menu. Love to sit at the bar because it is truly an art to watch the bartenders make these drinks and really adds to the experience. Everyone who works here is super kind and knowledgeable on their craft. However, if you are able to be there when the two Doar brothers are working it makes it truly special. They give postcards with their check and there's a bowl of matchbooks sitting on the bar. One of the best cocktail bars in Charleston. Debated writing this because I selfishly want to keep it under the radar but it definitely deserves its accolades.

We asked when we ordered about the flavor profile and supposedly it wasn't sweet, but all 3 of us agreed it was way oversweet. My black manhattan was phenomenal and my husband had a mocktail moscow mule that was awesome. To start Abigail, our waitress, was attentive, helpful, super sweet and just about the best waitress I have ever had. My wife and I ordered a round of cocktails, expecting the usual great description with subsequent lack luster drinks. Last night was different, midnight bloom which is their take on an old fashioned, but really in a different league; Smooth complex, and satisfying. My wife got the Ruby Ruby which is sort of a pomegranate martini with champagne. Refreshing and vibrant. For appetizers we had the blue crab fritters and the pork belly. The fritters were crispy, light, and full of crab flavor. Virtually no filler. I could have eaten a hundred. The pork belly was crispy, and rich without being too heavy. They also serve it in a white sauce that I was still thinking about the next day. For entrees we got the Roasted grouper and the pork shank. The grouper was maybe a bit overcooked and dry, but the accompanying butter beans stole the show. The were rich, and layered with flavor. I will never see the simple butter bean in the same way ever again. The pork was fall off the bone tender without being dry. The sauce it was served in was a masterpiece. There were hints of apple, berry, cinnamon, and many other notes, I would drink it by the glass if it was available. We split the gelato for dessert. Pure delight. Smooth, bursting with flavor, and leaving you wanting for more. All in all, except for a small misstep with the cook on the grouper a near perfect dinner.
