I wanted to love this place so badly. The atmosphere and aesthetic are a 10/10, absolutely beautiful space and the kind of place you're excited to walk into. The drinks were also fantastic, I'd give them a solid 9/10. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment and completely missed the mark. I ordered the tuna crudo, and instead of letting the tuna shine, the dish was completely overwhelmed by hot sauce. There were only about six slices of tuna sitting in what felt like a bowl of sauce, almost a quarter inch deep. It honestly felt more like a hot sauce soup with a little bit of fish added in, which was really disappointing. The service was just okay. The staff wasn't rude, but it also didn't have the level of warmth or hospitality that makes a dining experience memorable. Overall, this place has incredible potential. The space and cocktails are amazing, but the food experience did not match. I really wish I could say I'd go back, but unfortunately I probably wouldn't. read more

I must admit that sometimes I'm skeptical of "renowned" restaurants...but Husk's brunch totally lived up to the hype. The biscuits and gravy were the best we've ever had. The gravy was chunky with bits of sausage, and so savory...I think flavored with fresh sage. The consistency was perfect. The biscuits were fantastic. The house made rabbit and pork sausages with my eggs was so good! Very rich, so flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The hash brown was so interesting...I think it was super finely sliced (maybe grated) potatoes, then pressed into a pan, and then cut into a slice. It was delicious! The cheese grits were like none I've ever had before...again, so savory...I couldn't place what herbs were used...maybe marjoram...not sure, regardless best grits I've ever had. Some highlights include: fresh oysters with a refreshing mignonette in a dropper bottle Tuna tostadas Tuna carpaccios Scallop crudo - it literally melted in your mouth. Exceptional! Wonderful experience! Stopped in for impromptu dinner and drinks. My husband got the fried catfish. It was perfectly cooked in a cornmeal coating. The collards were sweet yet vinegary in the best way. The rice it game with was also super flavorful. The shrimp lettuce wraps were delicious. They had a ton of protein on them and the ancho chile flakes gave just enough of a kick. The BEC egg salad sando was also great. A not so traditional take on an egg salad sandwich; cut up on thick bread with bacon crumbles... yum. Our drinks were tasty too, but I'd definitely go back for the food! Made sure they offered the full menu menu at this little off-shoot before sitting down....I had no reservation, I just found a good spot and sat, which was way cool and had the best bourbon bartender on the planet.... I told him my price range and my taste and he picked me the perfect bourbon sipper! I am usually a whiskey fan, but he chose the Old Forester 1910 bourbon whisky from Louisville. And could not have been happier. I also ordered the chicken fried wagyu beef tips...which you'd think would have ruined the beef, but nope - it was soooo good and the yellowfin tuna which was served with Gold rice, smoked trout roe - I opted out of the roe - with Koji Mayo and horseradish... both were like appetizers but were enough food for me. Husk's hostesses on the other hand were warm and friendly and had a clean cozy table for us upstairs on the balcony overlooking Queen St in 5 min. We were very hungry a ordered several apps to try: French fries with garlic aioli, a dozen oysters, and the snapper ceviche. I love French fries - these were so good!! The ceviche was fresh and I loved the sweet potato, it added a different texture and sweetness. We checked in with the hostess at Husk and asked to sit above the Bar on the second floor. Our wait was about 45 minutes so we headed over to the Bar for some cocktails! The cocktails were delicious! The Dragoon's Punch was our favorite out of the 4 we tried, followed by Summer Lovin' and Perfect Pear then Rhum Forrest Rhum brining up the rear. The food portions were perfect and everything was delicious! The Scallops Crudo was way more scallops than we could have hoped for and was very tasty - definitely the star of the show. The Ink Rigatoni left a little to be desired - the way the meat was shredded wasn't exactly what we anticipated and maybe could have been tied in better with a sauce. Usually we're early to places for reservations because I'm one of those kind of people that's "10 minutes early is on time and on time is late." Because of this, we end up hanging out places before our reservation time, and that's how we found husk bar. We had a reservation at opening of husk, but were there about 15 minutes early because I overestimated how long it would take for us to walk from our hotel to the restaurant. They told us that the bar was next door and that they were open for drinks, so we walked next door and went inside. It seems like a lot of people had the same idea as we did because the place was packed. It was hard for us to flag down a bartender, and it was hard for us to hear what the bartender was saying to us over the sound of all the people in the bar packed in so tightly. We finally got some menus and it was standing room only. Once we decided on drinks, try as we might, we could not get the attention of a bartender. Eventually, I very rudely parted a couple sitting at the bar in front of me and tried to hand my credit card across to get the attention of the bartender closest to me, and finally was able to place our order. The drinks were done quickly once we did get their attention. I ordered the winter Manhattan ($16) and my friend ordered the Cheer Up ($12).The drinks were good but nothing too exciting. The plus side was that they were not overly bitter or overly strong, and were also not too sweet or too light. That said, I did not feel like my drink was anything to rave about, and definitely not worth the time spent to flag down of bartender and to be packed in the bar area like a bunch of sardines. All in all, not terrible drinks, but an overall difficult experience to order and enjoy the drinks. Prices seemed a bit high for the overall experience, especially the loudness and the proximity to other people in the bar. This bar does one thing well, and that is it's closeness to the husk restaurant, otherwise I probably wouldn't be returning here. read more

It was my birthday and a perfect night so outside seating it is for us. We ordered two drinks, the barrel aged Manhattan and White Sangria. The Manhattan was smooth and strong, the Sangria was bright and citrusy. Both cocktails were dynamite, I'm glad we were able to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings. Here I am since I couldn't get a reservation at Husk. And I am glad I came to the bar instead since all I wanted was the fried chicken and the burger. Going to the bar allows me the flexibility to dine whenever I want without rushing from one event to another. If you can't get a seat at the bar, there is a 2nd floor with table seatings (also first come, first served). Please note that they serve food until 10pm and the bar closes at 1130/45pm. I had the 3-piece dark meat that came with cabbage on the side and a Charleston Light Dragoon's Punch (light and refreshing). The punch goes well with the fried chicken! I didn't have room for the burger but it is another popular item on the menu (both chicken and burger are permanent items). If you are a bourbon/whiskey lovers, you will enjoy their extensive whiskey list. I tried the Six & Twenty 5 grain whiskey which had Carolina gold rice as one of the ingredients and it was very smooth and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this place if you wanna grab some late night snack or just enjoy the bar ambiance that the Southern charm has to offer! read more

We randomly decided to pop into the Bar at Husk for a drink and a couple snacks while walking around downtown Charleston during the holidays. We quickly found a seat at the bar, while outdoor seating was also available. This is a cozy, small bar with the look and feel that you would expect from a high-level restaurant in Charleston's historic district. I had heard about their extensive whiskey list and wasn't disappointed. I had a neat (and very generous) pour of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, while my girlfriend had a glass of wine. We ordered the "deviled" pimento cheese on benne crackers, which came with a green tomato pickle relish, as well as the skillet cornbread that comes with a small dish of pork butter. Both appetizers were delicious. Husk had recently bounced back from a brief closure due to a staff COVID case, so they were operating at a slightly reduced capacity. They weren't able to offer the typical "bar menu" items, but they made up for it by allowing bar patrons to order from the restaurant menu, which previously wasn't an option from what I understand. Overall, we were thrilled with our first Husk bar experience. If you can't get a reservation at Husk next door, or you're just looking for a nice drink and a snack, you can't go wrong with the Bar at Husk. read more

Our server was the bomb.com she was very accommodating, friendly, and pretty much helped us order our whole "snack." We ordered the "dragoon punch" it tasted like an amazing sweet tea with no alcohol, but it has two Brandy's in It so you know it will creep up on you. Also got the burger and split it. It was good.
