Very cool vibes. Very good cocktails. Very reasonable prices. Very solid spot. We have been probably 4 or 5 times now, and it never disappoints. I really love the cocktails here and the service is awesome. Last trip it was a late night Saturday and we had to wait just a little bit to get a spot, but we perfectly timed it for four seats at the bar. Prime location on King St., pretty nice cocktail bar. The espresso martini was served in a small short glass which I have never seen before, but it tasted pretty good. Grey goose emblem was cool. I stumbled on Belmont Lounge when I was in a rare solitude mood. Not wanting to deal with a crowd and seeing the high reviews I decided to pop in and uncertainty took hold. The Belmont is indeed a lounge with low comfy seats for small groups and a bar. A black and white film played on the wall, the sound muted. It was dark, quiet, and moody indeed. My uncertainties melted away as I found a seat at the bar and was able to relax with a glass of excellent wine. As I munched on a quite cheesy and meaty flatbread I listened to a woman rapidly talk to the bartender. From the conversation I gathered they were friends and while she was interested in plans and gossip he was doing his best at being engaging while also ensuring everyone was being taken care of. I'm not sure why, but I appreciated how well he balanced the personal with the professional with ease. I ended the night with a cocktail because I figured if everyone in the reviews raved about the cocktails it would be weird to end the night without one. I can attest they are amazing. I'm not sure what it was - I explained what I enjoyed, we discussed spirits and flavor profiles, and in the end a marvelous creation was drunk. It was great! One thing I would really like to highlight is the price point. Belmont was by far the best meal I ate and drank for the price. Sure, its bar food, but Charleston is not inexpensive. Belmont gave me a great experience at a wonderful value. read more

They got a varied cocktail list, but I stuck with a Cabernet Sauvignon which was pretty good. I also got an espresso martini which I couldn't fully enjoy because it had an intensely distracting "lemon expression" on the nose which I've never heard of in such a cocktail. I enjoyed the intimate, space limited atmosphere (not uncommon in Downtown Charleston) even if it was crowded for happy hour and a Meetup event. The espresso martini is a crowd pleaser here (the grated lemon zest sets it apart) but they make another caffeinated elixir with tequila, Licor 43 and espresso. Thank you for such a wonderful time! We came on a Saturday night! 2/1/25 Unfortunately, we DID NOT have a good experience with the "bouncer" outside. He was rude to customers on the way out of the cocktail bar and told my fiancé "don't trip on your feet on your way out, mother*ucker." We just moved here and would have loved to visit again. I'll start by saying, I've visited the Belmont around 10-12 times for drinks. On my last visit with a group of 8 people total, we were welcomed in and sat at a table large enough for our party. Oddly, the owner of the Belmont immediately started showing hostility towards us upon sitting down. Mind you, we were all well dressed, polite, quiet, and excited for our cocktails. No rowdy business happening whatsoever. After ordering our drinks and finishing, the owner started being outright disrespectful towards our group. We still do not know why, but between making a HUGE ordeal out of correctly itemizing receipts for each couple together to split their mutual bills, we were treated with outward disrespect, malice, and complete hostility. This last experience has changed our opinion fully and will not be returning to the Belmont regardless of the circumstances. Also, be prepared to pay some of the highest prices on king street for your drinks. a single old fashioned with Green Spot Irish whiskey came to $42; if that were made with the 15 year whiskey, that would make sense. 10 year? nope. consider other options. read more

We met friends here on a Friday night, and enjoyed a good hour of chat while sipping their craft cocktails. I tend to go for the gin based drinks and started with the Corpse Reviver #2, then ventured to the Easy Street. Wow I'll take Easy Street every time! We also enjoyed some meats, cheeses and small nibbles while here. The cocktail menu is large, and if you cannot find what you want, then just order it. I am sure they can make it for you. With all the options on King Street, it's sometimes so difficult to figure out where to go when you're in Charleston. Belmont had the shortest line in, so we stopped there as we were walking up the street. The first thing we noticed were the old, black-and-white cartoons playing up on the wall from a projector. My father got a big kick out of watching the old re-runs of Popeye and Wile E. Coyote. The drinks were also really great. They have a nice selection of cocktails and beer, but their collection of aged whiskey was unexpected, so the SO was pretty excited to see that. This is the type of place not many people talk about but is worth to be talked about. It is right on king street but for some reason I never see a line to get in on weekends. The drinks are amazing. My favorite is black dog. There is a new server that needs to work on her people skills. She brought 2 drinks to the table and we asked what they were and who's they were and she said idk. Well we def don't know bc we never had them before... it's ok if you don't know either because you are new but the place only had 1 other table... she should've said one second let me ask and go to ask the bartender which is which. I absolutely love the vibe of this place! It was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for on a chill and chilly Saturday night. Big fan of their fancy (also meaning expensive in this case, typically around $13 per beverage) cocktails and their kind of different style to give them that special vibe. What we really came for was their home made pop tarts!! They currently have 3 flavors: nutella banana, biscoff cookie, and apple pie; all which are impeccable. They come out cut into triangles and HOT out of the oven. The servers seemed to be very busy and the guy who ran our pop tarts seemed to be one of the cooks and though that is what his presumed job was, he kindly asked if there was anything at all we needed while we had his full attention. Very classy little cocktail bar. I was looking for a place to get a drink on King Street and this place had room at the bar. The bartenders know their stuff. I ordered a Vieux Carré, which was perfect. When a guy inserted himself in the conversation I was having with a couple beside me, the bartender made it a point to ask if everything was ok and made eye contact to let me know he meant was EVERYTHING ok. As I left, one of the stakeholders was standing near the door. He asked if I had enjoyed myself and shook my hand. After getting some Insomnia cookies, I was waiting for my Uber and overheard him escorting two young men out to the sidewalk as he was explaining to one how should get the point that a chick is not interested. We tried a variety of cocktails (Pineapple daiquiri, Moscow mule, One Trick Pony, and the Cypress Lavender Martini) and all were delicious but the One Trick Pony was my favorite. We were looking for late night drinks on a Sunday night and someone recommended Belmont as a "Bartenders Bar". We loved the ambiance. Some tables, some low comfy couches and then the bar. The lights were low while a projector showed old Westerns. The vibe was great but the drinks were even better. Our bartender David had great energy and was such a professional, managing to greet every customer who came in while making amazing drinks and chatting up patrons sitting @ the bar. His drinks were delicious & mixed to perfection. If you're on King Street, do yourself a favor & stop into Belmont. You won't be disappointed. read more
