We had so much fun looking for this place! It felt like a side quest, and we were rewarded with an amazingly hidden speakeasy. I enjoyed my friend's drink but didn't quite like mine. I still drank it but it was a little sour than what I was expecting compared to what was described. I believe it was the tequila drink. I would go back to this place and highly recommend this place because the vibes were awesome. This place is great for people looking for a more quiet and sit down place. This place would also be great for date night. Definitely should be a place people should try if they're in Charleston!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a true speakeasy! There's a nondescript black door and you have to flip a switch to be allowed in[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's bot a large place but it's very comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cocktails are creative and delicious. Food available was macarons, a charcuterie board or cake. We all felt like they could offer a bit more to snack on. Will def return if I was back in Charleston!

Scotty Doesn't Know might be one of South Carolina's best kept secrets. Tucked away with true speakeasy energy, it feels like the kind of place you only hear about from people in the know. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The moment you step inside, the Victorian-style décor sets the tone. Rich textures, warm lighting, and that unmistakable southern charm create an intimate, welcoming atmosphere that feels purposely hidden.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Katie, serving as both bartender and host, elevated the entire experience. She was gracious, professional, and genuinely friendly the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back before you've even left. Her Knob Creek whiskey sour was exceptional, easily one of the best in Charleston. Perfectly balanced with extra froth, it showed the kind of craft you expect from a top-tier mixology spot. If you're looking for a speakeasy that nails vibe, service, and cocktails, Scotty Doesn't Know should be at the top of your list. A standout gem in Charleston's bar scene.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great speakeasy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They got everything right, from the hidden door, to a quiet and elegant vibe, to the soft lighting, customized drink menu, everything was spot on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was also the bartender, and she was great at both, friendly and on top of everything.

If you're looking for a true hidden gem in Charleston, Scotty Doesn't Know absolutely hits the mark. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The moment you step inside, the Victorian-inspired décor sets the tone, giving the speakeasy a warm, southern charm that feels both elevated and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's the kind of room where you settle in and think, "Yeah... this is exactly the vibe I wanted tonight."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Caity, the bartender, deserves her own spotlight. She's genuinely delightful, the sort of craft mixologist who makes every cocktail feel intentional. Her whiskey sour was a masterclass in balance, smooth and bright with just the right pop of citrus. You can tell she cares about her work and takes pride in the details. If you're in Charleston and want a place that feels special instead of the usual tourist shuffle, Scotty Doesn't Know should be at the top of your list. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great drinks, killer atmosphere and Caity seals the deal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A must-visit while you're in town.

I mean, calling this place is speakeasy is a bit generous. There's no reservation system. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The hidden door is simply a door without a handle that you have to pry open with your fingernails[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and when we stopped by, there was one bartender, and she was very pleasant and made very good drinks, but other than this being a converted possible back room for big John's, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I didn't really get a speakeasy vibe about it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The craft cocktails were good, I just feel like calling this speakeasy is a bit of a reach. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Additionally, with the exception of the namesake and I don't really know what they could've done here, but the reference to "Scotty doesn't know" brought me there, but there was no real tie in with the movie.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe a cut out of Matt Damon for selfies, lol?

The service was great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the ambiance and antique decor throughout this sweet spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I especially love the antique mirrors along the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Oh, Scotty doesn't know So don't tell Scotty Scotty doesn't know Scotty doesn't know (So don't tell Scotty) This is a nice little speakeasy in Charleston. The entrance looks so fake but hey, A for effort. The drinks are pricey, but they're good. If you're looking for a good spot to feel secretive and classy, I recommend this drinking establishment. You can't go wrong with the Mezcal Old Fashioned.

    Finally cheersing!

I'd say it was probably an unusual night. We got there in time for our reservation and kept buzzing the light to get in and nothing. Finally someone came out so we went in. I went to the bar to check in and there was literally one person working a full room (two large parties) and multiple small tables. He made it clear there was going to be a wait and it didn't seem to matter that we had reservations (I would've gotten potentially charged for not showing up) we waited probably 30 min and I finally went and asked about how long before we could order and he said we were next up and apologized profusely. We waited another 15 min and finally ordered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Honestly we should've just left as it was so chaotic. I felt bad for the bartender.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got our drinks finally and they were pretty good, not great and not as creative as most speakeasy's. I think that was due to the stress he was under. I had a reservation to come back and canceled it.

Fun little speakeasy in Charleston. Went about 6 on a Saturday with no reservation and they still let us in. We ordered the black Manhattans and they were really good. Katie was very friendly and we talked with other patrons and learned of some great speakeasies in other cities from them. If you are looking for a good cocktail in a cool space, this is the place for you!

My husband and I are sober. Do they offer mocktails or NA options?

They have access to a full bar from the restaurant next door. I would think they could accommodate you.

It was nothing but gobs of fat in our bowls over mashed potatoes. Hardly any meat, tasted a little sweet. I was told the veggies would be squash, zucchini and broccoli when I asked what veggies come with it. Well, no broccoli or squash, they used eggplant. I HATE eggplant. So really I had about two bites of meat and a little mashed potatoes with two pieces of zuchini. We both intensely disliked it. Not to mention we didn't realize it would all be served together, meat on top of mashed potatoes in a bowl with the veggies mixed in. We don't like making a scene so we ate it in silence with me leaving half my bowl full of the fat and the eggplant. We had ordered a charcuterie board to share, so I ate a good portion of that as my main dinner. Also, the portion of food for the price was not a lot. The bowls were kind of small. The price is very expensive. $200 for four people. I gave it three stars because my meal may not have been to my satisfaction but my other son loved his lamb burger-otherwise it may have gotten two stars. I'm not sure if I will try it again. Probably not. First impressions can really make a difference. One glass of wine was $16 dollars here when they are around $8 dollars everywhere else so we paid $32 dollars for 10 ounces of wine. Maybe because it is downtown on Market Street? It was a little too expensive for sub-par food in our opinion. The one day I decided to eat Gluten and it was a meal not worthy of my pain that I always experience after. The Vibe of the place was nice. Rustic yet elegant. Nice tables with tablecloths. I loved the atmosphere. Just wish the food was better. Can't say I'd recommend it if you are visiting Charleston. There are too many other great places downtown to try. But who knows, you may like it if you try the burger. Or if you like fat.. by all means get the beef ribs. My son ate his fat.. he said if he didn't eat the fat he wouldn't have had much of a supper. But he can tolerate fat. I cannot.

The dining room is beautiful, and the ambiance is excellent. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality level or price point of the restaurant. When entrées range from $65-$70 for fish, $80+ for steaks, and side dishes approach $14 or more, guests reasonably expect an elevated and attentive dining experience. Throughout the evening, our server seemed rushed and disengaged. Despite our efforts to be friendly and conversational, interactions felt brief and transactional. A drink order was delivered incorrectly, and rather than improving as the meal progressed, the service became increasingly impersonal. We never felt particularly welcomed or valued as guests. A special night out with a $300-$400 check should feel memorable for the right reasons. While the food and atmosphere were good, the overall experience fell short of what we have come to expect from restaurants operating in this category and at this price level. We are glad we gave it a try, but in the future we'll likely choose other Charleston-area restaurants that deliver a more polished and hospitality-focused experience when entertaining family and friends from out of town.

The metallic wallpaper, the chandelier, the velvet banquets and pub chairs are all indulgent and immersively pink. However, the quality of the food and service were just not up to my expectations or the price point of $80.00 per person. Even though there were only 4 tables of two at our 11am Thursday reservation, there was only one server and the food took a while to come out. This is despite the fact that nothing was hot and I suspect it was all pre-prepared and came out of a fridge in the back. First bites of cornbread were served at 11:30 and our savory snacks at 11:45am. Sweet treats (including cold scones) were served at 12:10pm. The food was fine, but there wasn't any one thing that I really loved. I did like the timers on the table for the different types of tea. It was a fun and interactive way to see how long your type of tea should be steeped. However, there was no way to remove the tea leaves from your teapot once it had reached the correct steeping time... so it just continued to steep from there. Maybe it's better for champagne cocktails? Go for the aesthetics. I wouldn't recommend going for the tea.
