I didn't realize I left my credit card behind...and I got a message in my Facebook account from the General Manager Blaine, letting me know they had my card. Thank you to Blaine and thank you for the delicious lunch!

I was disappointed in the food at this place. We had heard that the Beef Ribs were excellent so…read morethat is what one son and I ordered. It was not to our taste. It was nothing but gobs of fat in our bowls over mashed potatoes. Hardly any meat, tasted a little sweet. I was told the veggies would be squash, zucchini and broccoli when I asked what veggies come with it. Well, no broccoli or squash, they used eggplant. I HATE eggplant. So really I had about two bites of meat and a little mashed potatoes with two pieces of zuchini. We both intensely disliked it. Not to mention we didn't realize it would all be served together, meat on top of mashed potatoes in a bowl with the veggies mixed in. We don't like making a scene so we ate it in silence with me leaving half my bowl full of the fat and the eggplant. We had ordered a charcuterie board to share, so I ate a good portion of that as my main dinner. Also, the portion of food for the price was not a lot. The bowls were kind of small. The price is very expensive. $200 for four people. I gave it three stars because my meal may not have been to my satisfaction but my other son loved his lamb burger-otherwise it may have gotten two stars. I'm not sure if I will try it again. Probably not. First impressions can really make a difference. One glass of wine was $16 dollars here when they are around $8 dollars everywhere else so we paid $32 dollars for 10 ounces of wine. Maybe because it is downtown on Market Street? It was a little too expensive for sub-par food in our opinion. The one day I decided to eat Gluten and it was a meal not worthy of my pain that I always experience after. The Vibe of the place was nice. Rustic yet elegant. Nice tables with tablecloths. I loved the atmosphere. Just wish the food was better. Can't say I'd recommend it if you are visiting Charleston. There are too many other great places downtown to try. But who knows, you may like it if you try the burger. Or if you like fat.. by all means get the beef ribs. My son ate his fat.. he said if he didn't eat the fat he wouldn't have had much of a supper. But he can tolerate fat. I cannot.

We drive from Jacksonville Florida regularly because Alpha's attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and genuine care for both guests and employees set a standard that is rarely matched. We frequently dine at many of the higher-end restaurants in downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant,…read moreso we arrived with high expectations, especially given this restaurant's connection to the Halls group. The dining room is beautiful, and the ambiance is excellent. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality level or price point of the restaurant. When entrées range from $65-$70 for fish, $80+ for steaks, and side dishes approach $14 or more, guests reasonably expect an elevated and attentive dining experience. Throughout the evening, our server seemed rushed and disengaged. Despite our efforts to be friendly and conversational, interactions felt brief and transactional. A drink order was delivered incorrectly, and rather than improving as the meal progressed, the service became increasingly impersonal. We never felt particularly welcomed or valued as guests. A special night out with a $300-$400 check should feel memorable for the right reasons. While the food and atmosphere were good, the overall experience fell short of what we have come to expect from restaurants operating in this category and at this price level. We are glad we gave it a try, but in the future we'll likely choose other Charleston-area restaurants that deliver a more polished and hospitality-focused experience when entertaining family and friends from out of town.

What do you have is Chef Bob Waggoner who has been a recognized chef for 30+ years. An affable, friendly, humorous teacher of skills and cooking, who will answer your questions quickly and effectively. The food "we" prepared, obviously with a lot of help from Chef Bob, was delicious beyond belief. Bob of course chooses the menu and buys all of the ingredients for each one of the appetizers, of the main course, and the dessert. As you smell what you are cooking, it comes alive to your nose and to your other senses. After that you sit down and eat your appetizer and then go back to fix your main course and then of course the dessert later. I wish that my photos would give some idea of the tastiness of our meal. It is so difficult to explain the taste of a meal that you have created, although Chef Bob was quickly back and forth to each of the 6 stoves being used by 12 strangers, who by the end of the evening (2 1/2 hours!) were not strangers any longer.
