I have loved this spot since the first time I visited. At least 20 wines for tasting and best part is they carry the wines you are tasting should you want to take a bottle home. The charcuterie is a menu of delicious choices that you select according to your tastes. Bread, walnuts, and honey, are also added to your board. This spot was recently sold and the owner has hired a wonderful couple to run the establishment and I loved learning from them. read more

Absolutely cannot stop talking about my experience at Ardoa. Clemént is so knowledgeable and passionate and recommended us some great cheeses and wines. I love how interactive it is with the self-pour feature. The vibe is perfect for date night! read more

Picture this.. A self pour brewery BUT....with wine. Yes you did read correctly. The process is as follows. You hand Mr. Cla mante (say it w a French accent) your dc or cc. He hands you a wine card that you stick into the pour system in which it charges the flat fee per each pour. There are 3 sizes on each case (3 cases): sample size/ half pour/ full pour. The sample sizes is what I liked the best. That way you can try a lil of everything. The wines. Got a wide variety from dry to sweet reds to dry to sweet whites. They do have tapas and charcuterie boards too but my girlfriend n I just went for the wine. Ambiance: great place to end on for a date night. Hey! Thatz what we did. Low tones of lighting filled jazzy tunes. Our total for the 2 of us came to $30. The time spent together on our Anniversary: priceless. read more

First timer - I'm a local resident and have passed by before. Looking for a quiet date night and found it here. The owner is so welcoming and walks you through the self-service wine machines and gives some suggestion (one of which was excellent). We ordered the maple bourbon goat cheese and the Champagne cheddar. Presentation was great with honey, mustard and other sauces. All of which, paired well with the wines. Atmosphere was super comfy and we enjoyed the night. This will be added onto the rotation for sure. read more

10/10 Recommend! The ambiance is spectacular. I have never been to a place quite like this and I will definitely be back! The owner was super nice and the whole experience felt so personal. The cheeses and wines were phenomenal and the system is so easy. Definitely check this place out! read more

So don't know which wine you are in the mood for. Then come here Don't know what you want to eat....well come here Want somewhere quiet and dark, you know what come here If you don't know by now; you need to try this very-understated gem of a wine bar read more

COVID era recommended. Super great place to get a drink and have a snack (I can't spell charcuterie). Fair priced self-service wine a little under what you'd pay in a sit down restaurant. So it's a pick your adventure place, can get a taste of 2 oz, half, or full glass. You get a card and go at it in any way that excites you. The charcuterie is good with a wide range of meats and cheeses. Plus a few beers for those like me. While the wine is a self-service (cool for the techie) the owner does an amazing job of customer service. It's a one man band but he makes you feel welcome like your in his house, well you are in his restaurant. Highly recommend visiting especially on a nice night and can sit outside. There are five tables well spaced outside and around 6-7 inside. read more

What a concept ... the gentleman that gave us the "how to" was great he showed us the ropes on tasting or drinking options. You open a tab and receive a drink card that allows you to pick a taste or a sip or a full on glass of various wines. Loved this giving me the opportunity to try and if I liked I went back for a full glass. Order a couple of cheeses again recommend the champagne cheddar and their euphoria cheese with Prochetta which came with a rustic bread walnuts and fig spread and spicy mustard and mini dill pickles which was plenty for us. Sadly fell in love with their sawtooth Chardonnay but found out I can't get that here at home in va. If your in Charleston mount pleasant are check this gem of a place out! read more

In town for the evening and unsure of what we wanted to eat, we decided to stop in here for a glass of wine. This is a serve yourself and pay by the ounce set up. When you enter you hand over your credit card to start a tab, and then the hostess will show you how the wine dispenser works. This is a great way to try different wines, especially if you're not sure what you like. The atmosphere is dimly lit and very nice, with high tops up front, a bar, and couches for groups towards the back. There are light bites to order with your wine, and we went with charcuterie with smoked duck and "Ewephoria", a sheep gouda, which was very good. Would love to see a place like this in downtown Greenville, SC. I think it would fit in nicely. read more

Ardoa is the perfect place to start any evening. Upon arrival the staff was so friendly and welcoming and was happy to educate us on how it all worked. After giving the hostess a credit card she gives you a card that allows you access to the self-serve spigots offering a plethora of wine choices and the cost is posted beside every choice so there are no surprises. You can start with a sampling size or choose either a half or full glass of any wine your mood desires. The bar tender was very knowledgeable about the large variety of cheeses and charcuterie available and he was very attentive to our cozy little group relaxed on the comfy sofas. The atmosphere is quaint and comfortable. The presentation was perfect and every choice we made was delicious. There are several wines on tap and the self-serve feature makes it very easy to sample different types of wine without going broke. They also offer a wide variety of beer. I definitely look forward to returning to Ardoa Wine Bar. read more

This place is a hidden gem! A friend took me here for the first time and I have to say I love it. Relaxed atmosphere and great service. Also the way you can get your own wine from their unique wine dispenser is such a great idea! read more

What a great addition Ardoa has become to this plaza. For the novice to pro, you'll get an extensive wine selection to sample. From the sip to the glass out of the sealed and temperature controlled dispensers, you really can explore your palate. I couldn't help but treat myself to a meat and cheese board. I built one with a few cheeses and they include bread and other accompaniments. In an hour or two you can try a handful of different wines and array of cheese. Feel free to ask questions as the staff are very knowledgeable about the available selections and are happy to help. read more

Ardoa wine bar is a great set up for a wine bar. Several tall tables to sit near the front or relax at the back in love seats & chairs. But the best part is how the wine is served. Using a card given upon arrival, for your credit card, you insert it then choose you wine pour. It's self serve. There are 15 different wines, with white, red and more. Then you have 3 different pour sizes. We really enjoy the setup, and it's fun either as an intimate stop for two or with a group of friends. If hungry, they have a nice menu of meats & cheeses to snack on. But come here for the wine, lots of great choices, so easy to use, and fun. read more

Update: Stopping again while in town, 7 months later, and they remembered us and we got the same excellent service and food! This is by far one of my favorites!!!! I absolutely love this hidden Mt. Pleasant gem!!! My boyfriend brought me here as a surprise and it turned out to be a great one!! I love the concept of this wine bar. You put a card in the machine and choose which wine you'd like and one of 3 sizes. You press the button and viola! Wine in your glass!!! There is a wonderful selection and the owner is VERY friendly and knowledgeable. He processed to help us pair some cheeses with the wine. Oh the cheeeeeeeese. I think I ate my body weight in cheese, bread, and preserves! It was absolutely fantastic! The flavors were on point and the bread was unbelievably fresh. I cannot wait to go back and have more! This will definitely be a place I frequent anytime I'm in the Charleston area!! read more

I was not expecting to be charmed by this little wine bar but boy howdy, was I. The wall of wine into which you insert a little card and then pour until your heart's content is just fabulous. But for the foodies, the charcuterie is something else. You choose the cheese and the meat for your platter, no pre-chosen selection, so you get exactly what you want. The Saint Angel cheese was what dreams are made of. And the bread? A hot, crispy loaf of light deliciousness. I hear they fly that bread in from NYC. Who knows but dayum. Get in there. It is delightful. read more

Service was on point, wines was very good as was the food. Relaxing ambiance, will be back for sure.

I love everything about this place. Starting with the atmosphere which is a nice blend of what I would traditionally think of in a french wine bar combined with the luxuries of a much more modern/industrial look. The carcuterie and cheese selection is always good and they have a bit of something for everyone. The German style Blue cheese they normally have is always awesome! For the best selection I would honestly ask the owner, he has never steered me wrong in helping me pick out a selection. (If it's your thing I 100% recommend the duck pate!!! The owner recommended it but also gave me the great tip of saving it for last so thst it had time to come to room temperature and allow all the flavors to emerge) The wine selection is normally very good and I have seen a lot of good wines come and go. Its nice that they keep them constantly rotating. I was told that they "only serve wine that they enjpy drinking", this might sound trivial and obvious but if you've ever worked in/managed a bar with a wine cellar you know it's much much easier said than done. I actually believe this is the case here! The only potential downside to the rotating menu is that if you pick a favorite it may not be there when you go back. They very conveniently solve this problem by offering a lot of their wine for retail sale....very clever good sir....very clever!! Every single member of the staff here has at one point or another gone out of their way to help me out going far above and beyond the call of duty. They even recently helped me pull off a very successful, very elaborate proposal plan!! (It worked she said yes!!) In conclusion this place is alright I guess. Kidding....go here....it's great. read more

Ardoa Wine Bar - More of all of this please!!!! - Wine Bars Near Me - Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

Love the concept of this wine bar! And such an innovative way to serve wine, through a self service system. A very easy one at that! How it works. You simply walk in, be greeted by the host/hostess, trade them a credit/debit card for an Ardoa card and then you can sample and drink to your hearts content. Whether you want to sample, try a half glass or a full glass the choice is yours. I love wine sampling so the sampling option is absolutely perfect if you really want to try everything they have to offer. The wines are arranged from white to red and I believe there are about twelve or so to chose from. Pair these with one of their Charcuterie boards or hummus plate and you have got you a perfect evening with friends or significant other. The only negative I have about Ardoa is that I wish they had more information available about the wines they have. Especially if you are one who only enjoys certain types of wines then it would be convenient to have more information to help guide us to the perfect wines for our taste. read more

Very cool place, comfy seating and neat concept. The charcuterie and cheese platter was tasty and seemed like a good value. I docked one star as it did take around 1/2 hour to get the platter. The server and owner were very apologetic for this however. The wines were also good and fun to try! There were 3 empty bottles at one point, however it wasn't long before the owner changed them. read more

What a nice little gem! Loved everything about this wine bar. First of all, cool concept. First time I see this self serve concept and I totally dig it. Upon walking in we were warmly greeted by a lovely host who we then found out owns the place with her husband who is behind the bar. She explained the whole process to us and was very knowledgable on recommending wines. When we got our wine card we all decided to get different types of wine. You can choose to get a small taste, half glass or full glass. This is great because there are some expensive bottles that I would normally never get to try and was able to enjoy it here. Then we went to the bar and ordered some cheeses and salami I believe it was. When we got our order it was beautifully presented to us and explained what each product was by the owner himself. We ate it all up! Everything was delicious! We had a wonderful experience here and can't wait to go back to SC to visit again. Wish the owners luck! read more

Ardoa is simple an amazing wine bar. First off the innovative way in which the wine is served is impressive. The idea of a self service wine bar seems like it would have many hurtles. However, the system in place inside of Ardoa solves all the problems. When you enter Ardoa you're greeted by a host that trades a form of payment for a card. This car is what enables you to delve the type of wine and the amount you want. Once done it automatically dispenses into your glass and you get a display of how much you currently have charged to your card. As for the food, my wife and I enjoyed a simple plate of hummus. Despite the fact that hummus is inherently simple, the hummus at Ardoa was great. A smooth creamy texture finished with a quality olive oil. Lastly the service was great. A knowledgeable staff that was always ready and quick to serve. This is a wine bar that I would recommend to anyone seeking to have a great night out with friends or an amazing and relaxing date with their partner. read more

This is a great place to start your evening out in Mt P. I like the interactive self serve concept here. Get a card from the hostess, push a button on the wine "vending" case and get a taste, half pour, or full glass of a large selection of wines. There is a wine for every taste, mood, and budget. You may also purchase a bottle. The friendly staff, including the French owner (I love his accent, merci beaucoup) is available to order gourmet nibblies from. Create your own platter with warm baguette, cheese, charcuterie, small bites, pate, and dessert. There are a few seating options: the bar, high top cafe tables, and comfy chair and sofa groupings. Hands down, this place was the highlight of my trip to Charleston/Mt Pleasant. -- We came down to visit and spent the first night in Mt Pleasant and the rest of our time was in Charleston. While I am not a creature of habit when it comes to dining out, I could have stayed in Mt Pleasant the entire time, just to come here again and again. Self serve wine is amazing. The Cabernet was wonderful!! - We got a plate of mimolette cheese, prosciutto de Parma, fig jam, honey, Dijon mustard (we weren't fond of this because it was super horseradish-y), pickles and sliced baguette. I could have had five of these plates! What a wonderful surprise. Also, the owner, I suppose, was there waiting on people and bartending. He was super helpful and went the extra mile to help us pick out the perfect cheese/meat combo. read more

It's a really nice way to have a wine tasting and selecting your own! The prices are displayed for each pour, tasting or 1/2 glass or full pour. Wait a hot second! I haven't written anything about Ardoa, yet? How is this possible?!? I love (LOVE) this wine bar!!! First of all, the pour-your-own-at-the-tap-of-a-button concept is genius. The setup allows you to try a number of wines and go back for more at your own pace. (Literally, more. Either another small pour to taste OR larger pours to fill the glass.) The self-serve experience allows you to pour either 1oz, 2.5oz or 5oz at a time. Its a wonderful way to try a bunch of different wines - and they have more than plenty - over 40 rotating bottles to choose from!!! They also have wine by the bottle and champagne available. For food options, cheese, charcuterie, pate and some small bites round out their menu. What is not to love??? Claymont and his wife (the owners) are very knowledgeable of the wines available, provide attentive service and know just the right time to interact without intruding on conversations. The ambiance is sophisticated, romantic and upscale without being pretentious or expensive. Yes, all those tastings and larger pours can add up, BUT they are really nicely priced to begin with and its a wonderful way to try some different wines without breaking the budget. (Or being stuck with a flight of wine that probably costs more and may not be to your liking.) Its a small space with a couple high top tables near the front windows, bar seating for maybe about a dozen people, a lounge area with comfy chairs and sofas in the back, and a couple bistro tables outside on the sidewalk. Its the perfect date spot or place to meet up with friends. Also for the budget minded folks: Wednesdays are 1/2 price cheese night! Perfect for a mid-week date or get-together with friends. This is one of those places that seems like a hidden treasure. Maybe that is why I waited so long to write my review .. I wanted to keep it a secret. But its too good to not share with the world. If you enjoy wine, you MUST (absolutely MUST) visit Ardoa. read more

Wife and I got wine flights and a meat and cheese tray. No prices on the flights should have been a clue. Turns out it's basically full price for three glasses of wine vs a smaller less expensive sample portion. The meat and cheese plate was laughable. Ardoa is one of those hidden gems in Mount Pleasant. Whether you are looking for a date spot, meeting place or a girls/(sofisticated) guys night out, this is a spot that should be on your radar. The dimmed light, soft jazzy music and high tops add to the flavor of you feeling in an expensive wine bar in France. Ardoa is any thing but expensive and it's an experience. You can tast around 18 different wines. They have a wide variety of old and new world. If you know what you want, obviously they have a select amount of bottles available for you and/or your company. Also when you are joining a bunch of wine afficianado's and you prefer beer, Ardoa has a small selection of craft brews available. The food that's served is all of high quality and not your everyday bar food. Going from cheese plates to charcuterie and even pate! A treat for every bon-vivant in Charleston. If you are coming for happy hour, make sure to arrive early tho because parking can be tricky at Seaside Farms during the day. After 7 pm... You should be good to park anywhere. read more

Loved the way this bar operated. You check in at the cash register, place money on a pre paid drinks card and then use the card for self service selection of a great range of red and white wines. You are able to choose from 3 drink sizes... Taster, small glass or large glass and the prices range from $1.20 to $18 depending which wine and which size. Any unused credit can be saved on your card for the next visit. The owner was very friendly and was eager to explain how the bar worked and the design of the bar had a very modern yet homely feel. A good selection of "nibbles" are offered on a specials board although I did not try any of these. Will definitely return! read more
