We went to SAVI Cucina + Wine bar to enjoy their Feast of the Seven Fishes, which I always wanted to experience but never had an opportunity before now. There were a few amazing dishes, some good dishes, 1 miss, and 1 that was just awful. The service was super friendly, but the timing was off a tad. We waited a good bit of time between the 1st and 2nd course, but then the 3rd course came out before we had 2 bites of the 2nd. After that the timing was much better. The restaurant itself is large and nice, but does not give off a cozy vibe, and we felt too close to our neighbors. I wasn't sure if I should do the meal review from good to bad dish, or by course, but decided it makes sense to the latter Starting with the Aperitivo course, we both got the Scallop crudo. The wife and I disagreed on this dish, as I enjoyed the aroma of and taste of the fried capers, and thought lemon added a nice touch of acid. However, I thought the dish needed either more capers or salt as the sauce was bland and there were not enough capers to make up for it. For the Antipasti I had the Seafood Arancini which was a crispy, golden Italian rice balls consisting of a mix of lump crab meat, Miss Paula shrimp (which upon looking up is from the seafood market at Tarvin Seafood), along with scallops, mascarpone, and creme fraiche aioli. This was an OK dish The wife ordered the Sicilian Octopus, with summer squash, zucchini, smoked pecan romesco. Here is another dish we disagreed on, but only because my wife has decided she does not like Octopus. I on the other hand loved it and thought the dish was great. The meat was tender and had a great char flavor. There were two sauces, one was a romesco and the was green (I think pesto) that the wife and I both really enjoyed. For the Zuppa y insalata course I had the Lobster bisque with sherry cream, crispy focaccia crouton. I took the 1st bite and immediately knew it was good; however, I had to send it back because it was served room temperature at best. Upon having it reheated, I thought this was easily one of the best Lobster bisques ever. The flavors were bold and spicy, but not so bold that I could not taste the lobster. The wife ordered the Seafood salad. Another dish with Miss Paula shrimp, bay scallops and pieces of calamari, supposedly topped with lemon herb vinaigrette. We both agreed this dish was bland, bland, followed by more blandness. There was no salt, no acid from the Lemon Vinaigrette and not a whiff of spice or taste from the herbs. It was just Scallops, a few pieces of calamari and some thinly sliced shrimp with zero flavor. For the Secondo course I had the Scallop risotto, with fire roasted peppers, sweet corn, crispy pancetta, and parmigiano. Here we go another amazing dish. The Scallops were cooked perfectly, and the risotto was loaded with flavor. The fire roasted peppers with sweet corn just added extra pop. The dish was made more pleasing to the eye with a ring of green sauce halfway around the risotto and the other half with a red sauce. There was so much flavor in the risotto, I could not tell if it added flavor or not, but it was clearly added to the visual aspect. Here is where the meal really took a hit as the wife ordered the Grilled branzino mediterranean sea bass, with charred broccolini, potatoes, artichokes, fresh herb oil, yellow tomato vinaigrette. When I took a small bite my first reaction was OH NO, I don't think she is going to like this. When I took a second bite, I realized it was uneatable. The skin on the fish was a bit tough and Slimy making it hard to cut. The fish was covered in a sauce that was just gross and not eatable. The only good thing about this dish was the charred broccolini which we both agreed was good. After that Sea Bass we were both done and decided to get the Dolce course to go. I ordered the Tiramisu cheesecake which we both enjoyed when we got home. The wife's Limoncello cake which was an olive oil cake soaked in limoncello, sweet cranberries with orange marmalade, was OK but neither of us would order again. So here we are with a tale of two dinners experience. Except for the 1st dish, we both thought everything I ordered was really good, but on the other hand, the wife didn't like anything she ordered, while I really loved the octopus, thought her Antipasti And Dolce dishes were just OK, the Seafood salad was tasteless, and the Sea Bass was just awful. read more

Located in Towne Centre, it may blend into the strip mall setting from the outside but once you step inside, the atmosphere completely transforms. Now, let's talk about the must-order dish that deserves its own spotlight: PROSCIUTTO + BURRATA 24-month aged prosciutto and Italian-imported Artigiana burrata , need I say more? Do yourself a favor and ask for a side of balsamic glaze to drizzle over the burrata for an extra touch of magic. Our appetizer also came with warm focaccia and fig jam, which is absolutely divine!! My favorite pasta dish is any sort of pasta with Italian sausage and broccoli rabe. It is the reason why I chose to make a reservation for my family at this restaurant recently on a Saturday night. Their orecchiette barese sounded perfect: homemade pasta, Italian sausage, sautéed broccoli rabe, garlic, EVOO and chili flakes. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. It was very bland, almost flavorless. I can't exactly pinpoint where it went wrong. Just not enough punch. My husband had the eggplant parmigiana and he gave his 3 out of 5 stars as well. Good, but not great. I thought the sauce tasted very sweet, My son loved the pizza. It was a highlight. I tried a piece and thought it was delicious as well. SAVI Cucina + Wine Bar is the jewel of Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. I came in on a weeknight looking for something to eat and as Savi happened to be there and quiet at that moment I went in and sat at the bar. At first I felt a bit neglected. I sat there uncertain as the bartender and another employee chatted up a couple of regulars who seemed to have recently returned from a vacation. This feeling passed when the conversation had a natural conclusion and the bartender came over and gave me a menu and a rundown of what was delicious. I opted for the caesar salad with the addition of shrimp and wow! It was an incredible salad with an amazing amount of shrimp. Like there has been no restaurant before or since that was so generous with their shrimp portions. The lettuce was crispy and the lemon brighten it up, it was so fresh, so delicious, so crunchy I found I lost myself to each bite. I simply did not notice how full the bar became between my first and nearly last bite until another customer broke my reverie by snapping at a new bartender for a minor mistake. The new bartender confessed his newness and apologized for his misinformation. I thanked them profusely for the delicious dinner, marveled at the full bar, paid, and took my leave. We ordered the fresh focaccia and I have never had such good focaccia. It stood about 2" tall, fresh, great olive oil. This was my first time coming in and enjoyed it. I actually love that it's located right outside of the movie theater. Convenient for a movie and dinner. There is ample outdoor seating. When you first walk through the doors the bar area is open. I was greeted by the hostess and sat at the bar. The bartenders were super nice. I can't recall the name of it but it was delicious I didn't have a very big appetite so I ordered their meatballs and a side caesar salad. I am from New Jersey which is Italian Food "Mecca".. I have to say the pizza was very good. It is EXTREMELY hard to find good pizza in the South. I would definitely return for the pizza. I also had Linguine with Clams which was a little weird the way it was prepared. There was bits of breading in the pasta with small chunks of ham. There was also no clam sauce, which I found bizarre. Very different from what we serve in the NJ/NYC area. It wasn't terrible, but I'd probably not get that again. The wine selection was great. Many choices for wine, little on the pricey side but not terrible. I would definitely go back for Pizza. As I said earlier, it is hard to find good pizza in the south. I came back recently and have to do a review update. We came in without a reservation because we just happened to be in Towne Centre that night. They offered us a high top at the bar, but my friend has a particular issue with her knee making those stools uncomfortable. The owner overheard our conversation with the hostess and immediately seated us at a regular table in the dining room which was much appreciated. Considering the restaurant is in an outdoor mall/shopping plaza, you immediately forget about that once you're inside. They start you with a plate of house focaccia with the best dipping oil. Then we got a small Caesar salad and meatballs to start. The crispy pancetta on the Caesar really makes it next level and their meatballs are fantastic. For entrees we did a little sharing and ended up with two classics. The chicken parm was huge and the chicken was perfectly tender. On my last visit my brother had the lasagna al forno and I had been thinking about it ever since. You basically get your own long cast iron pan full of lasagna and it's so delicious. I ended up ordering a Sauvignon blanc which was decent but still had a little after taste. I went during wine Wednesday and they give an extra pour and they have a deal for 25% of a full bottle. Also, not sure if this is something to note, but when we requested to be seated outside the hostess lead us away from the empty tables in front of the restaurant, to the side of where no one else was being seated. We ended up asking to be seated in front and she obliged but it was odd because there were many tables in the front and she went on to seat the next table right behind us. Do not sleep on this stop, it was the best pizza I've had in a minute. We went for happy hour that is offered in the bar area (high tops included) until 6pm. We got the Brussels and arancini off the HH small plates menu. Both were delish but Brussels were our favorite. We also got some of the cocktails that were good as well. For the entree, we split the sausage and burrata pizza with a side of hot honey and I will be thinking about it for a very, very long time. It is packed with flavor and the crust actually is firm enough that all the toppings don't slide off when you pick it up. We finished the meal with the almond rum cake and the chocolate mousse desserts which were huge portion sizes (didn't stop us from finishing both however). The almond rum cake was really light and unique, would order again. Only complaint was service was quite slow. I don't recommend this place. We went here to try to get a relaxing drink after doing some shopping, but it was soooooo awkward and not relaxing at all. I really disliked the service here mostly, it was just really awkward and not welcoming. It seemed like the bartender just wished everyone in the bar would leave, which we did after only one drink. We had hoped to get two drinks at least, but we were like this is terrible and just ended up grabbing a bottle of wine on the way home so we could have a chill evening at the house we rented. The wine was fine, not amazing, but good enough. I got a quartino of the Somma Prosecco, and it wasn't bad. Not the best prosecco, but it was good enough. I originally wanted to get the Bubbles Trio flight, but after a couple of interactions with our bartender, I realized I just wanted a one and done type of thing. My friend ordered an old fashioned, which was presented kinda cool, except the bartender then messed up, dropped part of the stuff on the floor yet proceeded to just pick it up off the floor and continue making the drink. Omg, so gross in my opinion. I wouldn't have drank it and would have sent it back if it had been my drink, but my friend didn't want to make a big deal about it. He wasn't overly impressed by the fact that the stuff had been dropped on the floor and then just picked back up though. The bartender then went back behind the bar and started singing really loudly to himself - one of the people sitting at the bar was like "are you bored or something?." The bar cleared out pretty fast because the bartender kept either singing to people or oversharing his life stories. Like, fine if someone wants to talk, but it was pretty clear that NO ONE wanted to listen to him and everyone felt very uncomfortable. He also overshared every time he came over to us. Sir, maybe get a therapist that is paid to listen to you? While their food looked kinda yummy, we didn't want to stay with the service everyone at the bar was having and we were having. And then when we asked for the check, he brought it to us, said "No rush" while proceeding to stand directly behind us as we were getting a credit card out, and picked it up as soon as we set it on the table - it felt very rushed lol. Our first time dining at Savi Cucina and we will definitely be back! We ate in the wine bar area which has great ambiance, combined with the excellent service. Starting with the grilled octopus and chicken lollipops kicked off a very yummy dinner. I ordered the Branzino which was stuffed with risotto (that's right stuffed with delicious risotto). The fish was cooked perfectly and had been deboned which made us much easier to enjoy.
