Really nice shareable appetizers and meals here. The service was nice and quick as well. Good ambiance with nice views of the water on Shem creek. I enjoyed my salad.
My family had a 7:00 sunset cruise on a catamaran out of Shem creek so I did some research on restaurants in the area and this one seemed to get the best reviews. Not that the other spots weren't good. We were greeted and the place was pretty empty at 4:30. As an amateur to the area I requested outdoor dining and realized while we were the only few tables eating outside, it's quite hot in late June! I later went inside and saw the inside dining room was packed! Regardless our waiter was awesome and gave good suggestions. The food was good and if it was a bit cooler we probably would have enjoyed eating outside more. It's worth a visit for sure
Stopped in for a quick lunch and ended up sharing drinks and several appetizers. Great spot right on the water. Friendly service. Absolutely loved the cast iron corn bread, pimento cheese with a bacon jam that was fantastic, brussel sprouts and peel and eat shrimp.
Had great service from start to finish. We got there and got placed on the waiting list. It was a very busy Saturday, but We did not have to wait long and they got to us right away. They got us a perfect view and an amazing table that overlooked the water in a private little Nook that wasn't too crowded. We didn't have to wait long to get seated. We ordered appetizers like the oysters, brusselsprouts, artichoke and crab dip, and seafood platter. All were so good! We got to see dolphins swim up to the side of where we were sitting and enjoyed a beautiful sunset! The interior deocor was really well done and looked fancy farmhouse like restoration hardware. Staff was so nice and we met other nice patrons that were having a great time here as well.
A few of us met up for happy hour here. We found a shaded table below near the water. We tried to order HH items but were told by our server that it was only at the bar which we weren't aware of. We closed out and made our way to their outdoor bar. They also didn't have their HH menu updated online so there were things we wanted but couldn't get because it was a different menu. We ended up getting a couple dozen oysters, smoked fish dip and crispy tuna rice. Oysters were fresh and nicely chilled, tuna rice was well seasoned and the fish dip was ok, didn't have any smoky flavor or element to it and lacked in flavor. We ended up moving back down with our friends who had dogs so they ordered from the regular menu. The server was very accommodating and friendly. My friend got the burnt ends Mac n cheese and that was delicious! The place itself was huge and I could see it being a great spot for private events. Overall we had a good time.
Visit with a group for Galentine's. Our server Sean W. was friendly and efficient. He was also patient with our large group. The lady who brought the food out seemed annoyed that we had switched seats with each other. I understand they take orders according to each seat number, but her attitude was unnecessary. Crab & artichoke dip was really good. I only wish there was more crab. The amount of pita bread provided is definitely proportionate to the amount of dip you receive. The pita bread tasted delicious, warm and lightly toasted. Dynamite shrimp was sweet and spicy, fried perfectly. I'd definitely get this again.
We liked this place. Right on the water and we walked around first then came in to hide from the wind. Ordered just apps and drinks for an early Monday dinner. Was around $60 with tip. Enjoyed the burnt ends with mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, and the cornbread skillet. We could've skipped the cornbread skillet just for how full we were from the other two and it wasn't that exceptional. Had a lovely waitress, who let us charge a phone since we were out on a day trip with no car and no charger. Would recommend!
Location, Location, Location! Shem Creek has always been one of my favorite spots for decades, when I'm in the Charleston area and this visit marked my third time dining at this restaurant. We had reservations--which I highly recommend making through OpenTable--and managed to snag a parking spot right by the main entrance. Considering how tricky parking can be in this area, I knew we were off to a great start! The meal certainly did not disappoint. We ordered the "Diver Scallops" and the "Grilled Swordfish," both of which were absolutely delicious. I opted for the 8 oz portion, and while the 4 oz might have sufficed, the larger serving truly hit the spot. To complement the stunning creekside views, where boaters casually drifted by, we indulged in a cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect finish to an already incredible dining experience. I'm already looking forward to returning soon!
Tavern & Table has become one of my go-to spots over the past 8 months or so. I especially love going once the tourists clear out--there's nothing better than soaking in a Shem Creek sunset among locals. In no particular order, here are some of the dishes my friends and I have tried: Italian Flatbread - Loaded with pepperoni, nduja (still not totally sure what that is, lol), house robusto, mozzarella, and creamy ricotta. One of my absolute favorites on the menu. It's huge, perfect for sharing, or you can stretch it into multiple meals. Pimento Cheese & Bacon Jam - Served with Ritz crackers. Simple, classic, and just really good. Sesame-Seared Tuna Bowl - This was on the summer menu, but it was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad - You can never go wrong here. A solid Caesar with a generous portion of chicken and it was quite filling. Fire Roasted Oysters - Baked with casino butter, bacon, peppers, garlic, and Parmesan. They definitely have a little spicy kick to them but it also kind of overwhelmed the taste of the oysters. Ceviche - Bright, fresh, and packed with seafood. A great starter. Crab & Artichoke Dip - Artichoke, fontina, and toasted pita. So delicious and perfect for sharing. The bartenders were nice and welcoming and even remembered our drinks the next time we came out.
We stopped by Tavern & Table for a Sunday lunch since it was such a beautiful, sunny day in Charleston. The location right by the water at Shem Creek is hard to beat! It was packed with people, so service was a little slow to start, but once we were seated on the outdoor patio, everything was great. It's the perfect spot to soak in the views and some sun.
Very lovely scenery on offer here to enjoy while dining on some upscale classic southern eats! Vacationing in Charleston and picked this establishment for its location on Shem Creek. After walking the lovely boardwalk, we popped in shortly after 6pm and were able to get a table without a reservation on a Tuesday. We found the service friendly and enjoyed several dishes! I personally went for the shrimp and grits and loved it! Great variety of flavor with a touch of spice. But of course, all plates were delicious and I'd recommend. As the restaurant continued to get busier in the 7pm hour, I would note that the service diminished a bit. While he was friendly, I noticed that our server dropped the check without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else. We opted to head out for ice cream instead but a final check in would have been nice. Otherwise, no complaints. I do recommend reservations if you plan to dine at peak hour. The place was quite packed when we left just before 8:00pm.
The place was cute inside and out. They do a lot of business it seems they were packed. Our server was super sweet. The food was good but I think it was a little over hyped. The scallops were amazing and the shrimp was good but the grits lacked flavor. The pretzel was good as well but the Mac and cheese was just alright.
Tavern & Table was such a great experience! The interior decor was really well thought out -- even the ladies room was beautifully done. We sat inside late afternoon and loved the atmosphere. We started with the Pineapple Martini and the T&T Martini (olive oil washed vodka, vermouth & blue cheese stuffed olives). Both were completely different but equally delicious! For dinner, my sister had the Brisket Mac & Cheese and I ordered the Shrimp & Grits. Both dishes were absolutely awesome. Everything was so flavorful that no extra salt or pepper was needed. The shrimp & grits had the perfect spicy kick -- seriously delicious. We skipped dessert, but the highlight afterward was spotting a dolphin swimming through the channel. Such a perfect ending to a really enjoyable meal. Definitely recommend! Shout out to the ladies at Trader Joe's for the recommendation.

avern and Table is located right on the Shem river, surrounded by other restaurants and lots of boat activity, which is really fun to see them coming and going. Of course they have a lot of indoor seating as well and you still get a great view. The sunset views here are incredible and they have a lot of outdoor seating available we are here in September and the weather is phenomenal so we sat right outside next to the river. The food was very good. I had the swordfish with German potato salad. It was really on a bed of rested finger potatoes with asparagus and awesome fixings. My wife had the flat iron steak and it was also delicious. Parking was a snap. Beer and wine very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants we've been to and drink prices were comparable to other places we've been to around $12- thank $14 a cock cocktail . Overall, I definitely come back here again with no problems and I recommend you check it out too! read more
While in town, I caught up with a local friend. On her suggestion, we visited T&T. The waterfront location is everything. The dining room feels a bit elevated. Two bars located inside and out on the porch provide two different vibes. The al fresco option adds another way to enjoy. We chose to sit at the porch bar for a more casual vibe. Our bartender/server was great. He was friendly and professional, yet laid back. We shared two appetizers and loved them both. The Pimento Cheese & crackers had quite a zip to it. The Tuna Tostadas were excellent. Large and full of toppings made it a great choice. If I lived nearby, I would stop in often. read more

Fantastic food but a few things I felt were overpriced. Example one drink $28 (Passion martini) One glass of pinot noir $14, dozen oysters $38, mushroom Flatbread app, $30. But the worst was the 3% credit card fee. If they want to be fine dining, they need more interesting desserts. Mushroom flatbread received rave reviews from all. Same for crab & artichoke dip and the brussel sprouts. The person who had oysters looked very happy. As did the dynamite shrimp patron, nice big shrimp. The whole yellowtail snapper received appreciative verbal sounds the entire time. Our friend raved over the yellowtail snapper. I could not eat the peel & eat shrimp. Way too much Old Bay, I do not like them dredged in it. Thr next day we washed it off and made shrimp and grits. Our waiter was fantastic. Attentive but not intrusive. Views of Shem Creek were great and now we're interested in the party barge. read more
My friend and I met for lunch last week and wanted to soak up the sunshine on Shem creek... Tavern & Table was perfect! The atmosphere was beautiful inside and more low key outside. We decided to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table and Nate our bartender recommended a watermelon drink. Fresh squeezed. It was delicious and refreshing! We started with the pimento cheese bacon jam and crackers(I'm not even a pimento cheese fan- but the bacon jam on the top was fabulous) We split a double double burger and the house Caesar salad! Both excellent! I loved the T&T sauce on the burger. The burger patties were thin so it wasn't an overload of meat. The service was great and this will be one of our new favorite spots on Shem Creek! read more
Went on a brunch date; the other times I had been were for dinner only. I did elect to set a reservation which was for 11 am; which was just before the main rush. The wait staff were very friendly, polite, and informative. The waitress explained the chef had prepared Rocky Road style doughnuts for an appetizer and we had to try them. They were delicious!!! For the main entree I ordered the Hash-brown bowl which was tender and seasoned perfectly. read more

Came for a quick drink and bite with some girl friends and we were seated promptly on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the pretzel and it's a great portion to share with friends! My girls all loved their cocktails (I don't know what they ordered) and we all enjoyed my pretzel. The cheese sauce was so good with it. Pretzel had more salt than I'd like but I was easily able to just dust off some of it. Great outdoor area to enjoy the water view. read more

Visting Mount Pleasant and found this Jem on Yelp! We had an amazing early dinner here on a Saturday night. made a 4:30PM reservation (all other slots were taken so make your reservation sooner rather than later!) We started off with the Burnt End Mac & Cheese and it was soo creamy and delicious! then we had the Sweet Corn + Leek Ravioli (my favorite) & the Grilled Swordfish which was cooked to perfection. We were too full for dessert, but everything sounded good! The service was great. We dined inside the dining room but wished we sat outside as the weather was stunning. Great food!!! I was a bit skeptical when I saw "collard greens" in the Shrimp & Grits dish but decided to try it. It was delicious!!! Didn't have any of the other stuff you normally see like sausage, peppers etc but it was different and flavorful and I'd definitely order it again! My daughter ordered the Mac n cheese and hands down best I've ver had! Service was as also great and ambiance can be formal (inside) or casual (on patio). Afterwards we got to watch a bunch of dolphins on the deck even though it was just 3:30pm in Mid March. read more
The skillet cornbread was crispy and delicious. A bit too sweet. The crab and artichoke dip was good. The seafood platter was delicious! A must get. They ran out of Branzino so we got the Snapper. It was okay. Nothing too special. I didn't order a drink but my husband got the old fashioned which he said was not good so he picked something else. We came on Saturday and it was super busy. The server was busy but definitely took care of us as soon as he could and check in on us. The view is beautiful when you sit outside. The only bad thing is the gnats bit at me so be sure to wear bug spray. I would definitely come back to eat the food with a great view of the water and try their drinks. read more

We dock parked with ease on a Saturday in October. The menu strikes a great balance between Lowcountry favorites and elevated twists. Our lunch choices of burnt ends mac & cheese, bison burger, smoked turkey sandwich, crispy chicken sandwich and kids meal crispy chicken received our table of 8 praise. The portions are generous without feeling sloppy, and the flavors are thoughtful--southern staples with just enough flair to feel special. Service is another high point. Staff are friendly, attentive, and seem genuinely invested in the guest experience. Many reviewers mention that the service adds a lot to the overall enjoyment--not overbearing, but helpful & warm. Ambiance is rustic-chic, relaxed but polished. The interior mixes warm finishes, large windows, cozy nooks, and a comfortably upscale decor without feeling stuffy. Outdoors, the terrace and dock areas are especially inviting--perfect for a relaxed dinner, brunch, or just drinks by the water. A few small notes: it's popular (no surprise), so wait times during peak hours or weekend brunch can be long. Tavern and Table is the best spot on Shem Creek for brunch, lunch or dinner. The views are beautiful from every table, which makes great dolphin watching. The food is unreal- we got the pesto flatbread, burnt end Mac and cheese (table favorite), and Brussels sprouts. Every dish has a unique twist on traditional foods that elevate it to the next level. read more

Great casual place to stop for a late night drink, mocktail, or beer. I really liked the ambience, as this place is located in Shem Creek (local waterfront area with dining and restaurants). After walking the entire Shem Creek marina in hopes that the establishment we HOPED and intended to visit by reading about it miserably failed once we arrived.....We happened into this establishment on the long walk back to the parking lot. The entire marina was a ZOO of activity and this was apparently the proverbial eye of the hurricane for this marina area. We were greeted at the bar and found two seats quickly and had a cocktail within minutes of sitting down. It was upscale and refined in its ambiance as was the staff and the leadership. All appropriately and professional dressed for the establishments image. We ordered the pretzel, the 3 cheese board, and the absolutely amazing cornbread skillet. All elevated in some respect with an amazing presentation and a variety of sauces and compliments. The old fashioned and wine were spot on and created perfectly in sight by the knowledgable bartenders. This oasis in the eye of the storm in the Shem's Creek location was a pleasant relief from the madness going on all around it. We were thankful that this establishment was able to salvage the trip to the marina area with professionalism and class not found anywhere nearby. read more
Shem Creek for date night. We ate at Table and Tavern with a delicious bottle of Oregons Pinot Noir. This wine was so smooth. I had the scallops and not sure what the red sauce was with tiny pancetta pieces. Definitely not my favorite at all. Justin wanted the osso bucco but apparently they just had a menu change and that dish is gone. He ended up with pasta bolanese. It was "ok". The sauce was sweet. Are reservations required or do they take walk-ins as well?
They take walk ins. But I'd get a reservation to be sure of a table before you spend 20 minutes finding a parking space.
Is there anything for the plain eater? Like fried shrimp and fries?
Dynamite shrimp are fried. And yes, we have fries, burgers, grilled chicken - lots of options for all palates.
IS there a Kid's menu? Or kid friendly options?
Yes, they have a kids menu for brunch and regular lunch/dinner service; typical chicken tenders, cheeseburger, mac and cheese, etc. It's listed on their website.
Do they have plain fried shrimp or fish?
They have peel and eat shrimp in multiple sizes, I believe it's unseasoned. The seafood tower is also just plain, fresh seafood. Not sure what exactly your definition of "plain" is, but they have one fish entree with lemon and capers that is pretty…
How is the brunch? Do they have a brunch buffet?
The brunch is awesome! They do not have a brunch buffet. Great cocktails and amazing unique dishes.
