While in town, I caught up with a local friend. On her suggestion, we visited T&T. The waterfront location is everything. The dining room feels a bit elevated. Two bars located inside and out on the porch provide two different vibes. The al fresco option adds another way to enjoy. We chose to sit at the porch bar for a more casual vibe. Our bartender/server was great. He was friendly and professional, yet laid back. We shared two appetizers and loved them both. The Pimento Cheese & crackers had quite a zip to it. The Tuna Tostadas were excellent. Large and full of toppings made it a great choice. If I lived nearby, I would stop in often. read more

A few of us met up for happy hour here. We found a shaded table below near the water. We tried to order HH items but were told by our server that it was only at the bar which we weren't aware of. We closed out and made our way to their outdoor bar. They also didn't have their HH menu updated online so there were things we wanted but couldn't get because it was a different menu. We ended up getting a couple dozen oysters, smoked fish dip and crispy tuna rice. Oysters were fresh and nicely chilled, tuna rice was well seasoned and the fish dip was ok, didn't have any smoky flavor or element to it and lacked in flavor. We ended up moving back down with our friends who had dogs so they ordered from the regular menu. The server was very accommodating and friendly. My friend got the burnt ends Mac n cheese and that was delicious! The place itself was huge and I could see it being a great spot for private events. Overall we had a good time. read more

Had great service from start to finish. We got there and got placed on the waiting list. It was a very busy Saturday, but We did not have to wait long and they got to us right away. They got us a perfect view and an amazing table that overlooked the water in a private little Nook that wasn't too crowded. We didn't have to wait long to get seated. We ordered appetizers like the oysters, brusselsprouts, artichoke and crab dip, and seafood platter. All were so good! We got to see dolphins swim up to the side of where we were sitting and enjoyed a beautiful sunset! The interior deocor was really well done and looked fancy farmhouse like restoration hardware. My family had a 7:00 sunset cruise on a catamaran out of Shem creek so I did some research on restaurants in the area and this one seemed to get the best reviews. Not that the other spots weren't good. We were greeted and the place was pretty empty at 4:30. As an amateur to the area I requested outdoor dining and realized while we were the only few tables eating outside, it's quite hot in late June! I later went inside and saw the inside dining room was packed! Regardless our waiter was awesome and gave good suggestions. f you want a spot that reminds you why Shem Creek is worth the trip, Tavern & Table delivers. First off, the view. It is hard to beat. Dolphins are right there in front of you, cutting through the water and chasing the shrimp boats as they come in. You could sit there with a drink and be perfectly happy before the food even hits the table. We started strong with oysters, the ceviche, skillet cornbread, a pimento cheese board, and the smoked fish dip. Everything was good, but the smoked fish dip and pimento cheese were the clear standouts. Those are the kinds of dishes you keep going back to even when you are full. For mains, I had the fried whole sea bass special, and it was the best thing on the table. The herbs and honey pushed it over the top. My husband had the burger, someone else had the spatchcock chicken, and another ordered the shrimp and grits. All solid choices, but the ranking at our table was clear. The fish came out on top, followed by the chicken and then the shrimp and grits. The atmosphere feels exactly like what you want on Shem Creek. Lively but not chaotic, with that easy coastal energy. Visit with a group for Galentine's. Our server Sean W. was friendly and efficient. He was also patient with our large group. The lady who brought the food out seemed annoyed that we had switched seats with each other. I understand they take orders according to each seat number, but her attitude was unnecessary. Crab & artichoke dip was really good. I only wish there was more crab. The amount of pita bread provided is definitely proportionate to the amount of dip you receive. Location, Location, Location! Shem Creek has always been one of my favorite spots for decades, when I'm in the Charleston area and this visit marked my third time dining at this restaurant.  We had reservations--which I highly recommend making through OpenTable--and managed to snag a parking spot right by the main entrance. Considering how tricky parking can be in this area, I knew we were off to a great start!  The meal certainly did not disappoint. We ordered the "Diver Scallops" and the "Grilled Swordfish," both of which were absolutely delicious. I opted for the 8 oz portion, and while the 4 oz might have sufficed, the larger serving truly hit the spot.  To complement the stunning creekside views, where boaters casually drifted by, we indulged in a cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect finish to an already incredible dining experience.  I'm already looking forward to returning soon! read more

Enjoyed the burnt ends with mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, and the cornbread skillet. Tavern & Table has become one of my go-to spots over the past 8 months or so. I especially love going once the tourists clear out--there's nothing better than soaking in a Shem Creek sunset among locals. In no particular order, here are some of the dishes my friends and I have tried: Italian Flatbread - Loaded with pepperoni, nduja (still not totally sure what that is, lol), house robusto, mozzarella, and creamy ricotta. One of my absolute favorites on the menu. It's huge, perfect for sharing, or you can stretch it into multiple meals. Pimento Cheese & Bacon Jam - Served with Ritz crackers. Simple, classic, and just really good. Sesame-Seared Tuna Bowl - This was on the summer menu, but it was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad - You can never go wrong here. A solid Caesar with a generous portion of chicken and it was quite filling. Fire Roasted Oysters - Baked with casino butter, bacon, peppers, garlic, and Parmesan. They definitely have a little spicy kick to them but it also kind of overwhelmed the taste of the oysters. Ceviche - Bright, fresh, and packed with seafood. A great starter. Crab & Artichoke Dip - Artichoke, fontina, and toasted pita. So delicious and perfect for sharing. Very lovely scenery on offer here to enjoy while dining on some upscale classic southern eats! Vacationing in Charleston and picked this establishment for its location on Shem Creek. After walking the lovely boardwalk, we popped in shortly after 6pm and were able to get a table without a reservation on a Tuesday. We found the service friendly and enjoyed several dishes! I personally went for the shrimp and grits and loved it! Great variety of flavor with a touch of spice. But of course, all plates were delicious and I'd recommend. As the restaurant continued to get busier in the 7pm hour, I would note that the service diminished a bit. While he was friendly, I noticed that our server dropped the check without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else. We opted to head out for ice cream instead but a final check in would have been nice. Otherwise, no complaints. I do recommend reservations if you plan to dine at peak hour. Tavern & Table was such a great experience! The interior decor was really well thought out -- even the ladies room was beautifully done. We sat inside late afternoon and loved the atmosphere. We started with the Pineapple Martini and the T&T Martini (olive oil washed vodka, vermouth & blue cheese stuffed olives). Both were completely different but equally delicious! For dinner, my sister had the Brisket Mac & Cheese and I ordered the Shrimp & Grits. Both dishes were absolutely awesome. Everything was so flavorful that no extra salt or pepper was needed. The shrimp & grits had the perfect spicy kick -- seriously delicious. We skipped dessert, but the highlight afterward was spotting a dolphin swimming through the channel. Fantastic food but a few things I felt were overpriced. Example one drink $28 (Passion martini) One glass of pinot noir $14, dozen oysters $38, mushroom Flatbread app, $30. But the worst was the 3% credit card fee. If they want to be fine dining, they need more interesting desserts. Mushroom flatbread received rave reviews from all. Same for crab & artichoke dip and the brussel sprouts. The person who had oysters looked very happy. As did the dynamite shrimp patron, nice big shrimp. The whole yellowtail snapper received appreciative verbal sounds the entire time. Our friend raved over the yellowtail snapper. I could not eat the peel & eat shrimp. Way too much Old Bay, I do not like them dredged in it. Thr next day we washed it off and made shrimp and grits. Our waiter was fantastic. Attentive but not intrusive. My friend and I met for lunch last week and wanted to soak up the sunshine on Shem creek... Tavern & Table was perfect! The atmosphere was beautiful inside and more low key outside. We decided to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table and Nate our bartender recommended a watermelon drink. Fresh squeezed. It was delicious and refreshing! We started with the pimento cheese bacon jam and crackers(I'm not even a pimento cheese fan- but the bacon jam on the top was fabulous) We split a double double burger and the house Caesar salad! Both excellent! I loved the T&T sauce on the burger. The burger patties were thin so it wasn't an overload of meat. The service was great and this will be one of our new favorite spots on Shem Creek! read more

Food was outstanding. We ordered the pimento cheese and cornbread for appetizers. Pimento cheese is one of my favorite foods and I always like to experience new recipes. This one of the most unique recipes I have tasted and I will definitely be craving again. I had the mushroom flatbread and also roasted vegetables. You could watch them being made in brick oven as you waited. Both dishes were delicious. The mushroom flatbread had this delicious saba drizzled all over the flatbread. My husband had the double stack burger with fries and his was a completely addictive burger that he would order again and again. He said it was like eating steak on a burger. The edges were crusted and it was a very juicy bite. He said the homemade pickles were amazing. Came for a quick drink and bite with some girl friends and we were seated promptly on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the pretzel and it's a great portion to share with friends! My girls all loved their cocktails (I don't know what they ordered) and we all enjoyed my pretzel. The cheese sauce was so good with it. I'll start by saying the meat on most of our order was phenomena. The restaurant is on the water and there's a cute indoor seating area facing the water. There's also an enclosed patio where there was live music during the time we were present. I also appreciated the generous portion sizes. the issue we had was the overall taste of the meal. We ordered scallop meal, the tritip salad, and the burnt ends Mac and cheese. The scallops felt like they were a bit under cooked and the scallop was only seared on one side. The dish was also very bland and none of the flavors really stood out. The Mac&cheese itself was also bland, however, the burnt ends made up for it and carried the dish. The tritip salad was probably the best dish we had, it was relatively simple and the salad dressing had a little kick to it. The table ordered a round of espresso martinis and they weren't good. As a back up option a regular martini was ordered and it also wasn't good. Both drinks poorly balanced the alcohol with the flavors of the drink. read more

We had an amazing early dinner here on a Saturday night. made a 4:30PM reservation (all other slots were taken so make your reservation sooner rather than later!) We started off with the Burnt End Mac & Cheese and it was soo creamy and delicious! then we had the Sweet Corn + Leek Ravioli (my favorite) & the Grilled Swordfish which was cooked to perfection. After walking the entire Shem Creek marina in hopes that the establishment we HOPED and intended to visit by reading about it miserably failed once we arrived.....We happened into this establishment on the long walk back to the parking lot. The entire marina was a ZOO of activity and this was apparently the proverbial eye of the hurricane for this marina area. We were greeted at the bar and found two seats quickly and had a cocktail within minutes of sitting down. It was upscale and refined in its ambiance as was the staff and the leadership. All appropriately and professional dressed for the establishments image. We ordered the pretzel, the 3 cheese board, and the absolutely amazing cornbread skillet. All elevated in some respect with an amazing presentation and a variety of sauces and compliments. The old fashioned and wine were spot on and created perfectly in sight by the knowledgable bartenders. This oasis in the eye of the storm in the Shem's Creek location was a pleasant relief from the madness going on all around it. We were thankful that this establishment was able to salvage the trip to the marina area with professionalism and class not found anywhere nearby. read more

I lucked out as I arrived before the rush but only just. I dined here with a friend, enjoying the view, and the food. The menu is often changing as I glanced at it now and saw what I had ordered is no longer there. Yet, does it matter? Their food is very delicious and you will not be disappointed. Only thing better than their food is their cocktails. Their cocktails are amazing. Their house selections aren't vast, but their knowledge is great. I elected to order a gimlet and it was perfectly balanced, silky smooth. The service again was delightful.
