For starters, we shared the Hula Hoisin Wings. They were definitely on the heavier side with the hoisin, but still absolutely delicious. The Mistletoe Mango Tuna Poke Tacos were a standout. They come as a small plate with three appetizer-sized tacos, and every bite was bright, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The Buddy the Elf Burger offers a choice of a single or double patty; ours was cooked perfectly. The smoky bacon really brought everything together and gave it that extra "wow" factor. We rounded things out with the O Come, All Ye Fried Rice with Hanger Steak, which was another winner -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. As if the meal wasn't great enough on its own, we happened to be there while Emily Curtis was performing. She's truly incredible and added such a fun, memorable vibe to the day. Food and drinks were both good... not the best I've ever had but good. Lunch on a Friday... several ppl at the bar but we were the only seat customers. The waitress was indifferent and seemed as they we were bothering her ....which is fine, as I was equally "bothered" by her and her attitude. I liked the bar and restaurant and the menu was solid. S U P E R B Dinner & Service We walked into Prohibition on King Street in Charleston on a crisp fall Saturday night without a reservation and were able to be seated in the rear bar area at a high top table. We we lucky as the restaurant and three bars quickly filled up with a fun crowd. We were in the middle bar (walk-up bar service and ordering only) which worked out great with the very friendly professional bar tenders. We ordered some craft beers, a great Parmesan Caesar salad, and the highlight was the manager recommended Swordfish Saltimbocca (WOW delicious). The Swordfish steak was quite large and we split the entree. The hot flavorful seafood entree came with crispy Prosciutto, sage, spinach, and roasted buttermilk puree. It was so flavorful and delicious I told the manager I could have ordered another serving! Compliments to the numerous managers on duty ensuring the guests were happy, as well as the bartenders, and serving staff. Workers obviously like working at Prohibition. Popped in here for a quick happy hour. They have a really good selection of Bourbons and happy hour menu. The bartender with the glitter glam :) it was very kind and accommodating for my husband celiac allergy. She brought me their cheat sheet for allergies, and even cut up some fresh cucumbers for us to eat with our dip. She definitely went above and beyond to ensure that he was able to enjoy some of the things I ordered. I've only been here during the daytime but I've seen it get packed during the evenings. Overall good vibes and friendly staff at the bar. The chicken wings are delicious and my go to on the HH menu! Brussels were also crispy and tasty with the chili sauce. My first time checking out this spot. It was later in the evening but luckily there was barely a line so it was easy to get in. There was no cover charge. The main room bar was packed and a dj was performing. The lights on the dance floor were a fun vibe. There were accessible restrooms. I liked the second room/bar, it gave me speakeasy vibes. Met some friends from work at this little establishment. We had reservations but mid week we could've got in there without. We were seated next to the stage which did have a a guitarist and she sounded pretty good. Nothing too crazy as far as ambience, it is like a bar establishment with tables but the seating is comfortable and if you did have kids you could bring them with but as the night goes on I imagine things could get a little more crowded and loud. The food was great everyone enjoyed the plating and the temperature of the food. Prices weren't too bad either. This place hits it off in all the right spots, location, food variety and quality (not typical bar food) the one thing that was a tad bit different was that almost all handhelds save for maybe one cheeseburger was off the dinner menu and we were not allowed to order anything from the lunch menu. This is a bit of a tapas spot. They have veggie, beef, and fish sections for "small plates." I had the deviled eggs, served with chicken "cracklin," fried capers, dill, and chives, which were fine. They would be great for a potluck, but in a restaurant setting, I wasn't overly impressed. Don't regret ordering them, but wouldn't order them again. I also had the heirloom tomato toast, which I also wouldn't order again. I couldn't pick up on the sharp cheddar at all, the tomatoes were tasteless (not the restaurants fault, all the taste has been bred out of tomatoes unless you grow your own these days). But they were fine. My favorite part of the meal was probably the smashed cucumber salad, made with ginger and avocado dressing, cherry blossom shoyu, black mint, and togarashi. The flavors were complex, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. For my main course (honestly the small plates were more than enough), I had the fish of the day, which was mahi mahi, corn chowder pancetta, leeks, and potatoes. The dish overall was savory (though a little salty) and overall good, but I've learned over time that mahi mahi is a bland, trashy fish. The sword fish I had at High Cotton the night before was much more succulent. I also tried their fries, which were cut like "chips," and they were delicious. Loved the tiny bottles of Hines ketchup. The drink list is long, and all I had was delicious. Nockturnal Days (tequila blanco, mezcal, pineapple, passionfruit, ginger, honey, cilantro, bitters), the warthog (gin, spiced pear, lemon, honey, rosemary), and the jackalope (gin, tonic, botanicals, grapefruit rose mist). All drinks were light and tasty, though nothing stood out as an amazing selection. Service was great. On top of it and helpful. Other dishes include red pepper Romesco dip, pierogis, caesar salad, liver mouse, wings, tartare, oysters, burgers, steaks, gnocchi, and more. Would definitely go back again. I loved my shrimp and grits and they have a fun version of French fries. The mimosas were amazing; I loved the Champaign they used. Our server was very helpful and was great to chat with. We wandered into Prohibition for a quick drink while waiting for our dinner reservation across the street! Our group of four grabbed four spots at the bar, which gave us front-row seats to admire all of the incredible Halloween decor. Seriously, their team went all out! From scary-movie-themed drinks to flashing orange lights and even a clever sign in the bathroom mirror that reads "You're Next," this is the perfect spot for a spooky soiree. Even without the decor though, I can tell this is a vibey spot for drinks or dinner. My husband ordered one of their seasonal cocktails and it was delicious! (We can't remember the name, but it was written on the blackboard on the far left of the bar). It was fizzy and refreshing! I had a glass of Prosecco, and it was OK. Next time, I would order a cocktail instead! We didn't try any of their food on this visit, but what we saw coming out of the kitchen looked tasty! The baked stuffed oysters were delicious as well. Stopped into prohibition on a Thursday night for dinner and we were immediately seated at a booth. The interior gives rustic vibes with modern American food & creative cocktails. Another one of the places we stopped at during a little Happy Hour Tour of places we hadn't been. I really wanted to check out the Halloween decor they lay out. They do go all out for the ambiance. From pamphlets for newly dead people to RIP tombstone chair covers. Very creative! It seems like a lively place after hours as they have a dance floor as well. The drinks were too expensive but strong. 20.00 for one drink when they are normally 15.00 in downtown charleston is too much. We sat on the heated patio which was actually decently warm but when we agreed to sit there we didn't realize there were so many open tables and weren't sure why those weren't an option. There's 3 bars and each area was decorated for Christmas and had different seating options. We got a few appetizers. My favorite was the nachos because they are very different from traditional nachos but very tasty. The portion led has with leftovers which unfortunately didn't reheat well at our hotel but I'm sure if you have an airfryer they will make great left overs. There is a special Christmas Tiki bar pop up. The place is decorated with 1000's of lights and makes it a magical place. The Poutine gravy is made with so much love and the chef said it was a Rue and Wine.
