I've lived in Charleston for 10 years and have tried many of the roof top bars over the years. This one is my most frequented. The prices are great for downtown, all seats in the restaurant have a great view, and the food is delicious! I also had a mocktail and that was really good, and under $10. Most recently we came on a Saturday at lunch and there was no wait.
It was a hot and windy day. The service was nice and it's a cute rooftop spot. The frozen cosmopolitan was refreshing and the espresso martini was legit. Food were good.
We stopped here for a super late lunch as all the other rooftop bars were taken on a busy warm Saturday. We weren't able to sit outside but at least we could sit, with a glimpse of the bridge view! We ordered: - The Mediterranean salad with arugula, chickpeas, tomato, cucumber, and shrimp swapped with chicken. Nothing special but hit the spot - Strawberry goat cheese salad: ditto - Truffle parmesan fries: hard to go wrong - Housemade sweet black lavender tea: this was delicious and the perfect amount of floral without being medicinal There was an issue with the kitchen and a huge wait to get our food but the waitstaff were kind and accommodating Logistics: - Take the elevator from the hotel garden courtyard near the coffee shop - Indoor and outdoor seating - Limited street parking nearby - Vegetarian options - Mocktail options
The Watch Rooftop Kitchen & Bar offers beautiful views overlooking the city and water, making it a great spot to relax and unwind. The dry-rubbed buffalo wings were crispy and packed with flavor, and the cheesy burger sliders were a crowd-pleaser. The truffle fries had great flavor, though they would have been even better if they were a bit crispier. The lemon drop struck the perfect balance of tart and sweet, but my favorite drink of the night was the peach amaretto sour--it was absolutely delicious!
If you're looking for cocktails with a view in Charleston, The Watch is where it's at. I came for the spritz flight and was not disappointed--four refreshing flavors (Aperol, Hugo, Lemon Strawberry, and Pomegranate) served ice cold and picture-perfect. Each one had its own personality, from classic and citrusy to sweet and fruity. I didn't eat but would be interested in coming back to try! The atmosphere was laid-back but still had that elevated rooftop vibe. There's indoor dining tables, a large bar and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view. Service was super friendly.
The two stars are for the food and the location/view. The food was good and the view was cute, however the service was atrocious. We were on a bachelorette trip (we went after yoga so we were not all flashy but only 5 of us) but thank goodness we had the company of each other because this was the slowest, lackadaisical service I've ever witnessed. From the servers to the hosts to the bussers, zero pep in their step or care for any sort of urgency. While we were in no rush, we were still there for almost two + hours waiting 30 minutes in between every interaction with our server and staring at dirty tables being walked passed. And I wasn't about to ask her 3 different times for hot sauce. Plenty of other options in Charleston that care a bit more about the patron and the cleanliness of their dining room.
A cute spot with a great vibe for drinks and light bites with friends. That said, the food was pretty mediocre. I had the shrimp tacos (served in a flour tortilla that had hardened by the time it arrived), a side salad, truffle fries, a glass of chardonnay, and the strawberry lemon spritz. The most frustrating part was the misleading service--when I ordered, the server asked "what side would you like?" indicating the tacos came with with a side, even pointing out other entrees that also came with sides but the menu just didn't show it. I later found out I was charged extra for the salad I didn't even want. Drinks took over 25 minutes to arrive, despite it being a quiet Tuesday at 2 p.m. Overall, great atmosphere--but the food and service didn't live up to the setting.
Great place for happy hour and a sunset with a view. The spritz flight was pretty good. The truffle fries were amazing especially with the aoili!! A must get! The strawberry very refreshing and tasty.
This restaurant is located on the seventh floor of the restoration Hotel downtown Charleston. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, special menu for Christmas dinner. May I mention the outstanding prime rib that I had! All the servers were the festive mood everybody's very happy to be there even though they're working on Christmas Day the food was great. The service was great. The view was great. I definitely recommend this place. Five stars all the way.
A great place to grab pre-dinner drinks and see the sunset. Amazing indoor and outdoor seating. There's no bad view. The staff at the hotel were friendly and showed us where to go. Elevator in the back of the outdoor lobby takes you right up to the 7th floor where the bar is located. Very expensive drinks unfortunately. Be prepared to spend $20 on a cocktail. Annoying, so go for one drink and then go somewhere reasonable.

Nice rooftop bar, good drinks, fun spritz flight. Has limited seating with good views and can get crowded fast. The spritz flight was pretty unique with a couple standard spritzes mixed with a couple more novel ones.
Great as always! I came by for happy hour and got their margarita and a slider, so good, especially for the price. We also got some truffle fries, so delicious! The waitresses they had today were good and very helpful. It was super hot out on the patio, which just made me wish they had some ceiling fans. read more
I always enjoy a trip to the Watch. You can't beat the views of Charleston and they have a pretty good happy hour! The food and cocktails are good, but definitely overpriced. If I'm paying almost $20 for a cocktail, I'm expecting it to rock my socks off. And that is simply not happening here. The service can also be hit or miss. But overall, I would say the Watch is worth the visit for the views alone read more

Mehh. Nothing special. The place is cute with nice views but I can't speak that highly of the food... My husband and I came here for a drink + a snack. We ordered the truffle fries and chicken wings to share. The fries tasted undercooked (not crispy) while the wings tasted overcooked (burned & dry). However, my dirty martini was excellent! I'd recommend coming here for the drinks and the views, but eating elsewhere ;) read more

The rooftop views are worth it!! We had reservations for a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. Quite a few bachelorette groups including the one I was in! I got the spicy honey glazed halibut and the "irresponsible jalapeño" for my drink. The halibut was delicious but If it weren't for the glaze the veggies would have been bland. My drink was amazing though and the Jalapeño gave it the right amount of kick! read more
After an afternoon of shopping on King St. we went to The Watch off of a recommendation from a local. The views and building itself were stellar- it's a really cool place! A few of us got the spritz flight and it was fun and tasty! All of the food we ordered looked and tasted great- the brussel sprouts are still talked about to this day because of how GOOD they were. Would definitely recommend The Watch! read more
Great place tucked away off King Street! On the rooftop of another set of buildings. It did have a great view of the city. The staff was super patient with us. I absolutely loved the pink starburst party pouch. I say it paired amazingly with the truffle fries. Amazing combo of sweet and salty!! Great place for a couple drinks or a whole meal read more

Came here for lunch on a bachelorette-- views from the restaurant are unmatched and the spritz flight is a MUST. Brussels sprouts were some of the best I've ever had! And service was fantastic read more

Came here for Sunday brunch with friends. Was excited to enjoy brunch on the rooftop. Where we arrived, it took a while for the hostess to arrive. Seems like they were short staffed cause she didn't greet us but sat a party that arrived before us. Luckily about 7-10min later, we were able to ask for a table. We were sat outside and after about 10 more min our waiter came (was just informed that we were his table). Alex was our waiter and he was great. We actually moved to the other side because it was cold and breezy and the other side was a lot warmer. I'm glad we could do that without any hassle. We ordered our food, and everything came out as ordered. I got the breakfast, and it was okay. The eggs were bland and the grits tasted like they had been overcooked and sat out. I could still taste the flavor but unfortunately the texture deterred me from really enjoying. We also ordered the bread pudding French toast but unfortunately it was just French toast. We were a bit disappointed about that. Also, the pancakes were a little too crispy on the edges, but it was okay. Overall, Alex made it a bit better of an experience. I'd be willing to try this place again, maybe for dinner. Recommend they make sure the hostess recognize people as they arrive as there were plenty of times that the stand was unattended to the point that I saw people leave. read more

Really great atmosphere and our server was amazing. We were there in the off time before dinner / after lunch and got some shareables-- sliders, truffle fries, and deviled eggs. Sliders and truffle fries were delish, deviled eggs needed some seasoning. It was a great experience as we were super hungry after walking around for st patty's day so I didn't take any pictures Drinks were the highlight ! I got the peach amaretto sour and my boyfriend got the house margarita on special (he said it was very well done). I am pretty picky with artificial peach flavoring and this drink did not disappoint, fresh and bold. read more

Nice view from the top. But everything else could be better. We came in for lunch and were seated outside on their deck, though they have indoor seating as well. We loved our server! He had great recommendations and was so friendly. They only had one bartender on a busy Friday, so the drinks took a while and came out the same time our food did. It's not the bartenders fault, they were working hard that day, and the restaurant just needed more staff behind the bar. I wanted to order an Apricot Spritz, their version of an Aperol Spritz, but they couldn't make it, so I ordered the Orange Basil Sunset. Like most of their cocktails, it's a nice drink for brunch, but I didn't love it (and I really like bourbon). For food, my friend and I shared the crispy buffalo brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tasted delicious, a little sweet and a little spicy, little did we know they would wreak havoc on our stomachs 4 hours later. I'm not saying it was the brussel sprouts, but it was the only thing we both ate, so be careful. I also ordered a skillet of Mac & Cheese, there's an option to add extra protein, but I had it by itself. It came straight from the oven with a nice crust and great flavor. read more
For lunch with a view I've been wanting to try "The Watch" at the Restoration Hotel on Wentworth Street. Got off to a great start with a cup of freshly brewed coffee before ordering lunch. Spencer was a welcoming server and was friendly and attentive. I could not make up my mind as to what to order so I just ordered the tomato soup, a Caesar salad and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. With great views of the city from the 7th floor of the Restoration Hotel I loved the fact that you had a panoramic view of Patriots Point across the river in Mt Pleasant. You will not be at a loss for noticing all the church steeples in the city also ~ "is that why Charleston is nicknamed "the Holy City?" ~ so give a count while you are dining at The Watch if you'd like! Had a nice relaxing lunch in the beautiful and breezy dining room. You will want to linger and enjoy! read more

I came here once at night at shared oysters and cocktails with a couple of friends. I came back again yesterday for dinner catchup and a gorgeous sunset with my friend and not only did we have a great time but the customer service was stellar, as was the food!! My mom LOVED my lobster ricotta gnocchi leftovers! For the sports lovers -- they televise sports games as well. read more
Ok just to give you an idea, my daughter turns 17 in December and she wanted to come to Charleston for her birthday for the weekend. We are here Friday to Sunday and BOTH nights she wanted to come to The Watch rooftop. We love this so much. Last night we came and while the food was great, the server was just "ok". While we were there we saw this lady (named Jenn) who we said "when we come back tomorrow we should ask for her specifically". She was so happy and so kind to the people. When we came back tonight we got her and wow. She is over the top. Her name is Jenn and we absolutely love her. We will be asking for her EACH AND EVERY TIME that we come. She was so sweet to my daughter and her two friends. And she gave her an apple pie desert for her birthday. WE LOVE THE WATCH!!!!! Thank you for being so good to us!!! read more
