SO and I were in Charleston for a few days and dined at Husk, one of Anthony Bourdain's stops. We started with the country ham and yellowfin crudo, both of which provided a variety of flavors and were fun to eat. For entrees, we had the scallops and wreckfish, both of which were perfectly seared and epitomized how seriously this establishment takes its seafood dishes. We probably would have had drinks and dessert if we could have gotten an earlier reservation, but we had an early flight back home the next morning. Bottom line, the food and service were excellent and four stars seems a tad low!

I was pretty underwhelmed by the brunch. I had heard some amazing things about this restaurant and there was nothing really special about the meal. Especially with so many amazing restaurants downtown. Everything was good and the service was good, but nothing stood out to me. I think everyone at our table tried a different brunch dish. I think the deviled eggs were the best dish. I do want to come back and try the dinner menu instead of the brunch menu.

Another delicious meal at Husk. This was my first brunch at Husk and we loved every minute!!! My friends and I went to Husk for brunch close to Christmas time and thank goodness we got there early! It was 2nd Sunday and it got really busy! I had the shrimp and grits and I could not have chosen better. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the flavors complemented each other well. We started with the deviled eggs and the biscuits-a perfect appetizer! The mimosas were good, but I felt like they overloaded the ice which minimized how much mimosa we actually got to enjoy. Overall, I highly recommend Husk and it's a nice treat for special occasions!

Visited here for the first time this weekend as I saw how Christmassy it was and couldn't resist! And the Christmas decor did NOT disappoint! Was immediately seated at our reservation time and had the most lovely lady as our waitress. Service was amazing and everyone in there is very kind. Food was great, perfect portion sizes and timing of the food was ideal as well. The cornbread with the butter was so light and to die for and was the perfect pair to my pretty heavy pasta I ordered. After dinner we couldn't resist the bar right next door that was also decked out for Christmas. We were quickly seated in the cozy upstairs and had a great class of wine. If you go to Husk, you can't miss the bar! Will totally be back to both Husk establishments.

Southern brunch done right. Everyone at our table loved their dishes, especially the shrimp and grits and fried chicken and biscuits. The grits were creamy, not too heavy and complimented the shrimp perfectly. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, brined well with some subtle rosemary aromatics. Biscuit was fluffy but dense in all the right ways. Bloody Mary mix was seasoned well and let the tomato flavor shine. We also tried the coffee cake and deviled eggs - coffee cake was good and the deviled egg yolk mix was a bit denser than expected. Space is beautiful and we were seated upstairs and on a nice day so the French doors to the balcony porch was open. Service was friendly and prompt. One of our favorite meals of the trip, would return to try dinner!

Husk is still a favorite. We stopped in Charleston and snagged seats at Husk's adjoining bar. The bar (separate building) is as warm and as charming as the dining room. Catfish, collards, and dirty rice--perfect dinners. The Old Fashioneds help. Then--the complimentary lemon meringue was delightful.

Right when you walk up to husk, you know it's going to be amazing. This restaurant is inside a plantation home. The host was extremely friendly and so was our server. We started with the tuna tartare and pimento cheese and biscuits with ham. Then we had scallops and the pastrami rubbed beef for dinner. Dessert.......don't sleep on these...omg. The Elvis ice box cake and yes it had bacon bits on it and then the German chocolate cake, which isn't a looker, but tasted amazing. Everything was top notch and you didn't need a knife for the pastrami rubbed beef. The app showstopper was the pimento cheese, biscuits, with ham. My wife doesn't like pimento cheese at all and she would had bathed in that it was so good haha. Absolutely go to this place!

My wife and I recently went to Husk for a weekend dinner and had a good experience. We first went to Husk's patio and bar while we waited for our reservation, and got the field green salad and the Parker House rolls with pimento cheese and pickles. The pimento cheese with chili crisp and the pickles were the stars- the cheese was rich and creamy with a good flavor kick from the chili crisp, and the pickles were perfectly cured and seasoned. The Parker House rolls and the salad were OK, although unremarkable. The bar overall had a good ambiance, although the lighting was so dim that it was difficult to read our menu and order. Husk has a nice ambiance with low lighting and nice placesettings. Our service was fine, although it did take almost 25 minutes for our first dishes to come out despite the restaurant not being at capacity. I started with the skillet corn bread and was very excited as it was cooked with duck fat (something I've never seen before). However, I couldn't taste the duck fat, the cornbread was dry, it needed more butter, and it didn't pair well with other dishes. I got the chicken-fried rabbit for my main dish. The rabbit was well-cooked but not noteworthy. The gumbo had good flavor but was extremely salty, and the grits could have added more to the dish. This dish also needed more of a fresh vegetable and acid element to cut through the fattiness and heaviness of the gumbo, rabbit, and grits. For dessert, we shared the corn miso ice cream and the apple blondie, both of which were delicious, creamy, and had the right amount of sweetness. I would recommend Husk for a nice dinner in Charleston.

    - Wood fired oysters 5/5 - my favorite item from everything I got - Seared diver scallops 4/5 - scallop flavor was good, potato & bacon cream at the bottom were ok... - pork ribeye chop 4/5 - flavor was good overall but too many fatty pieces for my liking - cornbread skillet 3/5 - not sure if i'm really a fan of cornbread but it was slightly salty for me Cute spot for dinner if you're in the area. Definitely need a reservation if you go here. Ambiance and service were good, waitress was helpful.

What can I say, absolutely stellar experience tonight at Husks. Lovely ambience, wonderful service by Jeremy and even better food. Not a huge selection of options especially since I don't eat pork. Had to try the chicken liver and mushroom mousse to start the night. Followed by a shared entree of snapper. The flavor combo is just superb on both. Since it was a late evening dinner, we didn't want to over do it with too much food. Wish we could have tried everything! Don't sleep on making reservations well in advance. Well worth what you pa

Such a great spot for a nice dinner! We shared the cornbread, chicken liver mousse (my favorite!), salad, carrots and steak - the kids ate every last bit. The staff were friendly and attentive. Would eat here again in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

A perfect spot for all the friends to gather and bid farewell after a weekend celebrating a friend's wedding. We were fortunate to have made a reservation for our party that morning as the place was packed by the time we arrived. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted with a friendly smile and seated within a few seconds. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming! The menu has a variety of options of local favorites. Our favorite was the Shrimp and Grits, which was flavorful and deliciously prepared with fresh ingredients. Overall, it was a great experience and will definitely be back again! Enjoy!

    Ask the Community - Husk

Do they really included a 20% gratuity on in-dining? I read it on the website afterwards- so I guess I tipped 40% - very deceiving

No, they don't. Nor is it shown as a disclaimer on their menu.

How hot is it in July on the porch for dinner? Resy says they've got fans, but if it's unbearable, would like to know. Thanks!

Hot! Uncomfortable to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended eating indoors

    What's the dress code?

You can glam it up or be casual.

Does Husk accept walk ins or are reservations required?

If they have an opening they do accept walk-ins but they tend to be fully booked.

    Is this place walker accessible?

Yes it is. I'd recommend calling in advance so they seat you in the rooms more accessible at the door. It's a spacious restaurant with various areas.

    Is there a dress code?

Most people dress nicely to enjoy a meal at this restaurant - however I don't believe management specifically states a level of dress in order to dine there.

    Do they offer Vegetarian entrees?

I do know their menu changes often. Weekly perhaps. You could probably order a "vegetable platter " and not be disappointed. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Is there a military discount offered?

We don't know. I researched it on the Net. Came up empty. Best to call them.

    Do servers wear masks?

    Yes

Is there bar seating for cocktail around 5:00pm?

Yes, but you'll need reservations even for the bar. The bartenders are fabulous!

Is there a kid's menu or kid-friendly options?

No. Not a good place for kids

Is there a tasting menu option and if so, how much does it typically cost?

No, standard a la carte menu.

Would it be okay to bring a newborn and toddler here for dinner? Newborn just sleeps. Toddler roams. Too fancy a place?

Please don't, the roaming is unacceptable in any restaurant, but especially here.

Hoping it's less pricey at lunch. Is there a separate lunch menu?

Yes, the best way to go for a less expensive experience is either lunch or the bar menu. In my opinion one of the best things on their entire menu is their burger, which is also one of the cheapest things--and NOT available on the dinner menu, only… Read more

We got there just before 6 PM, and although the restaurant was pretty full, they told us they'd try to seat us outside due to our party size. That worked perfectly since they had heaters going. They quoted us a 45-minute wait, but it ended up being closer to 15 minutes -- a great surprise. The service was seriously outstanding. I have zero complaints. Everyone was so personable and attentive. For appetizers, the beef carpaccio was my favorite. For entrées, we ordered the pork chop, tuna, duck, and lamb -- and we all shared bites. Everything was delicious. My pork chop did come out a little dry, but when I mentioned it, our waitress didn't hesitate at all. She immediately took it back and insisted on bringing a new one, making me feel completely comfortable about saying something. While I waited, she brought me a complimentary soup, which was such a thoughtful touch, and the replacement came out quickly. The manager personally brought out the new dish and waited while I cut into it to make sure it was perfect. She even came back later to check again. That level of attention to detail really stood out. To top it off, they brought out dessert and a round of champagne for the table. I wasn't drinking, and they noticed -- so they brought me a mocktail without me even asking. That kind of attentiveness is rare. The inside looked beautiful, and I'd love to sit inside next time to experience the full vibe, but outside was perfect -- not too cold, not windy, and overall just a great atmosphere. Overall, one of the best service experiences I've had in a long time. Highly recommend.

Stopped in here for dinner after doing a little bar hopping and checking out downtown Charleston…read more After looking over the menu and the recommendations of our server, I settled on the Carolina Platter. The platter consist of steamed snow crab legs, a crab cake, grilled shrimp with collard greens and grits. The seafood on the platter was all correctly prepared and delicious. The collards and grits were good but otherwise unremarkable. The service was outstanding and our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. Overall, I would recommend the Charleston Crab House and I would return when visiting the area.

The food is somewhat bland (out of 4 of us, one actually liked their meal while the rest of us were underwhelmed). Pros: location, easy to get seated, prices are decent (for DT Charleston) wait staff was good, drinks were good. Cons: primarily the food was bland. The host station was not running at its best either. We had a reservation and they told us they were "working on our table," and we should wait "under the stairs." Apparently "under the stairs" is also where they store napkins and supplies. We looked to our right and saw 3 empty and clean tables. After about 5 minutes of standing under the stairs, they sat us at one of those tables, which had not required any extra "getting ready." Just didn't sit well ( or stand well) with me.
