Lola Rose for the win. We were a little hesitant since this restaurant is in a strip mall, but let me tell you, it did not disappoint. They make all their own pastas, WAIT FOR IT including Gluten Free (GF pasta is only made at their sister restaurant called 'The Grocery'). Our waitress was Ava and she was fabulous. I started with the Cesar - the dressing had a nice mild taste, I felt like it was a mix of Cesar and creamy Italian. I loved it. Justin was ahhhh. Lol. But the lettuce was fresh, crisp and green. My main was the sea scallops - delish! Justin started with a special app "soft shell crap". Of course it was gone. His dinner was a spinach Rigatoni Verdi. He said it was very good. We will be back and must try their other restaurant. Oh and their pizza oven was imported from Italy. Can't get more Italian than that!!!! Really cute tshirts for the staff. #charleston #lolarose #thegrocery #charlestonfoodie #charlestonfoodandwine

Great service is the first thing I'll say about Lola Rose! The manager went out of his way to be accommodating and even gave us fresh Parmesan from the cheese wheel! I was actually expecting it to be a bit more Mediterranean like salads and gyros but it's more Italian and Italy is on the Mediterranean. Other than that, Lola Rose is good. It has an outdoor patio that allowed us to have a great view of the full moon and the tables are close and seem like family style sitting. The pizza was great, I even ate the crust! However, I wouldn't order the cavatelli pasta again. It's very shrimpy and I was not impressed with the way it looked. The fluffy cheese is really tasty, however the bread was a bit too toasted for my liking. Overall, I will definitely go to Lola Rose again and try some of the other pastas and pizzas!

First time visiting Lola Rose but as we have driven by dozens of times it always seems to be busy. Great gnocchi and risotto tonight. The olives in the risotto added a nice touch and the homemade pumpkin gnocchi was delicious! The sauce was almost like a condensed French onion soup and the two paired together very well! Try the focaccia to start!

We loved this spot. The bread here is so good, which is how you know the pizza is going to be great. We started with the fluffy cheese that was delish paired with the fresh warm focaccia. We then got the arancini, market salad, pepperoni pizza, pear and prosciutto pizza and ham and onion pizza with béchamel sauce. I'd honestly come back just for the arancini. It was packed with flavor and the lightest breading. The market salad was also amazing, our only complaint was we wish there was more! Pizzas also great. We wish this spot was closer to us so we could go more frequently.

It's great to have a developing local area for food! The restaurant is cute and decorated in a very modern, calm and soothing way. It has a very clean look. The tables are close by and when they are full, there isn't a lot of privacy, but it makes sense when you are trying to serve as many as possible. The service was great. We had a lovely young lady that spent a few moments chatting with us. That made us feel very welcome and cared for. The food; not as great as I had hoped. The appetizers were wonderful. We had the whipped cheese with focaccia, which was wonderful. The bread was warm and soft and the whipped cheese had a honey topping. Wonderful! We also had the calamari and clam appetizer. This was good. Not amazing, but decent. It was very crispy, almost over cooked for calamari. The main meal we ordered gnocchi with mushrooms and the mushroom pizza. We shared our entrees. Neither was good. It wasn't bad, but well below my expectations. Everything was very sharp tasting. Almost vinegary. The gnocchi became unpalatable after a few bites. The pizza was subpar for an Italian restaurant. The desserts were good. I chose the butterscotch budino and my friend had the strawberry tea cake. Both desserts were good. The main issue is the quality for the cost. As prices everywhere have gone up, we can expect to pay high prices but then we for those prices, I expect amazing food too. I was disappointed with our entrees mainly but I'm willing to return and give it another chance.

Meatballs. Wife said among the best she ever had. Not a red meat eater.

Wow. Folks. What a surprise. Maybe a hidden gem. Limoncello spritz is a must try. They make a mean martini too. Do not miss the Patatas Bravas. Prob best thing I had. The sweet potatoe hummus was so good I liked it. I don't do hummus. To be honest the meatballs are a little controversial. They were cooked perfect. Something about them I was not crazy about. I love the meatballs at Brico Braco. My wife said I am actually crazy because there are better. She doesn't like red meat and she finished the meatballs and the sauce. @taylored.drink Shout out to Taylor! Ask for her. She knows her stuff.

It sets the tone immediately, and the festive energy carries straight through the meal. We kicked things off with Bloody Marys and a Morning Fog -- simple, classic, and done right. For starters, we shared the Hula Hoisin Wings. They were definitely on the heavier side with the hoisin, but still absolutely delicious. The Mistletoe Mango Tuna Poke Tacos were a standout. They come as a small plate with three appetizer-sized tacos, and every bite was bright, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The Buddy the Elf Burger offers a choice of a single or double patty; ours was cooked perfectly. The smoky bacon really brought everything together and gave it that extra "wow" factor. We rounded things out with the O Come, All Ye Fried Rice with Hanger Steak, which was another winner -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. As if the meal wasn't great enough on its own, we happened to be there while Emily Curtis was performing. She's truly incredible and added such a fun, memorable vibe to the day. I'd be remiss not to mention Kevin our server. Go see him. He was great. The whole team works great together. Don't let the bar-like atmosphere fool you -- Prohibition is far from your typical bar food or bar scene. There's a great space in the back, and the elevated menu makes it absolutely worth the visit. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was intimate, beautiful, and the perfect setting for a relaxed Saturday night cap. What made the experience truly special was the bartender. There's no traditional menu, instead, he takes the time to learn what you like and crafts drinks based on your taste. I've never experienced anything like that before. The level of knowledge and creativity behind the bar was incredible. Every drink he made was stunning and tasted even better than it looked. I was honestly so impressed that I couldn't even remember all the ingredients he mentioned because I was too busy being amazed at how good everything was. It was one of those moments where you realize there are real levels to this craft. I walked in thinking I knew a thing or two about mixing drinks at home, and left with a whole new respect for the art of it. The atmosphere, the personal attention, and the quality of the cocktails made this place feel truly top tier. Huge shoutout to the bartender, easily a 15 out of 10. Cool, knowledgeable, and passionate about what he does. If you're looking for an intimate spot for date night or just want to experience thoughtfully crafted cocktails in a beautiful setting, the Annex is the place. (On occasion, I rant about how we need more cocktail bars and wine bars that don't serve food at all or just snacks like nuts - don't get me started.) Last Saint is a really cool dual concept cocktail bar. The front of Last Saint is more casual - small, cozy, allows walk-ins. But you can also make reservations (or try to get lucky walking in) at the Annex. The Annex is their weekends-only cocktail experience in the back of Last Saint. You walk to the back of the bar and press ring the bell by the yellow door. Someone answers and seats at one of six seats at the bar and three small (but private) tables. The Annex is a no-menu experience. The friendly and creative staff ask you questions about your preferences for drinks and then make you something that fits the bill. It was personal and fun, and we enjoyed all the drinks we had. A reservation at the Annex is good for a 1.5 hour time frame, which was perfect for us to have two drinks before closing out and heading to our dinner reservation. We sat at the bar, which I loved, because we got to chat with the staff and watch them make our and others' drinks while we enjoyed our creative cocktails. The staff have a wide knowledge of cocktails and an almost endless supply of ingredients to choose from when making your drinks. A truly fun experience. One I haven't had in any other city.
