It's always great to experience restaurants in other neighborhoods around Charleston. I used to work in the Hanahan area and I've been hearing a lot about Cane Pazzo so it was great to finally get to experience this new restaurant. As soon as you walk in the lighting was perfect for a romantic evening, and to celebrate our anniversary. The service was spot on, our server really knew the menu and described everything so well it was hard to make our food selections. For apps we went with the daily bread, crispy mozzarella and Tomato + Blue salad. For dinner, we went with the Lumache and Fusilli for our entrees both were very tasty. For dessert we had to try the tiramisu and the olive oil cake, highly recommend both so good. Good to know that there are other amazing restaurants to hit outside of our normal route. Very close to I-26 so easy to get too, make sure you stop by and experience their food and service. read more

My husband and I made reservations a little over a week in advance for a date night at Cane Pazzo. From the outside, it's an unassuming restaurant in a plaza, but inside it's cute, lively, and full of energy. We ordered the mozzarella sticks, meatballs, agnolotti, and wood-fired carrots, along with a beer and the Mrs. Robinson cocktail. The cocktail was really good and came in beautiful glassware. The kitchen also gifted us the wood-fired sourdough, which was such a nice touch since it was on my list to try. It was delicious. Our server must have shared that it was our first time -- nice touch! The standouts for me were definitely the mozzarella sticks and agnolotti. The mozzarella sticks were incredible--I might be craving them for the rest of my life. The agnolotti was delicious and a little on the sweeter side, but I really enjoyed it. We were so full that we didn't make it to dessert, though the one option I heard about sounded really interesting. Overall, we had a great date night and loved the atmosphere. I'm mad at myself for not coming here sooner. Hands down one of the best meals I've ever had! We sat at the chefs counter. It was so much fun watching everything going on. There's this elevated neighborhood vibe going on there that's hard to describe but you'll understand once you get there. Absolutely fantastic wine recommendation from our server Natalie and she gave us a run down of the menu and answered all our questions about it. Everyone we interacted with from the hostesses to the chefs were wonderful, it felt like it was a real team if that makes sense. This is the perfect spot for girls night. It was the rainiest evening and we came in and got cozy with a glass of wine. Our server was witty and knew the vibes for girls night. We had the daily bread and meatballs because we saw they were in everyone's pictures and the waiter said they were worth the hype (he was right). We had a party of four and among us we had the "papalina", the fusilli, the creamed corn agnolotti and the special smoked oyster agnolotti which was a nod to oysters Rockefeller. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The pasta is home made and changes often. We tried all of the desserts too but I think my olive oil cake was the best, really moist and citrusy topped with really ripe peaches. I can't say enough good things about this place. Handwritten birthday card waiting for him at the table, little dessert with a candle... it truly was a special night! We started with an array of appetizers. Ham and cheese, tomato salad, arancini, mozzarella sticks, meatballs, and of course the daily bread. Everything was so tasty!!! Daily bread and tomato salad were my faves. We've been meaning to check out Cane Pazzo for months! It's tucked in the corner of the Piggly Wiggly shopping plaza so parking is a'plenty. I love that finer dining areas exist beyond the downtown peninsula. With that being said, the staff did their best to provide excellent service and made sure our water cups were full and checked in on us. It's a good spot to celebrate engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, milestones..The ambiance feels like a study room library with Italian regalia. I enjoyed my aperol spritz and tried sips of my fiancés island drink, more frothy based. For the appetizer we tried the daily bread. The butter and herb center tied the appetizer together but the bread could be left in the oven to bake a little longer, felt raw and chewy. Our main dish my fiancé got the special of the day - a giant pork chop with dots of homemade gnocchi. Our side dish to share was the charred cabbage with fondue in between the leaves. For my main dish, I tried the linguini with local clams to which had about 6 in there. All their pasta is made in-house and our server was able to explain each one. I would say the one area that needs improvement is to scale back on the salt..our dishes were incredibly salty. It's hard because the pasta was cooked perfectly, but something in the sauce made it difficult to fully enjoy..felt like my mouth was pickling and kept downing cups of water to help with the saltiness. The food lives up to the hype. We had to sit outside under the canopy because all the inside tables were booked. Best cheese stick and sauce combo we've had in the Chuck. And yes, we're those people that always order cheese sticks if they're on the menu. The daily bread, meatballs, Caesar, Verde, and Bolognese were all flavorful and presented well. While Jack, other servers, and the GM were friendly, we had our exact meal delivered 3 times and other random dishes 4 times. Unsure what was going on with the ordering system, window, and the expo. This is a hidden gem in Hanahan. Our friends had been here several times and we finally were able to come check it out. We've had some disappointing Italian food before so we were looking forward to this recommendation. The ambience was lively and it was a very busy night for a weekday. We sat near the kitchen, so we got to see the executive chef in his team work the service. I loved that the menu was smaller and had many unique options. We started off with some cocktails and wine. My husband particularly enjoyed the Aperol-spritz with passionfruit. Our server was very helpful and accommodating my husband's celiac allergy. We were able to still get a handful of things to try. But first, the daily bread was out of this world. Every bite was delicious! We got a bunch of things to share. We could really taste the quality and love they put in these dishes. Everything was very flavorful and cooked well. The royal shrimp in the gramigna nero was the most tender I have ever had. It was truly a beautiful dish. The blue crab risotto was cooked really well, we did wish we could have a little more crab, but they went out of their way to pan sear the artichokes for my husband to be able to eat it since he couldn't eat it fried. Don't sleep on the side dishes now, because the bok choy was nicely charred, and the fried potatoes were also great. We had a fantastic meal at Cane Pazzo and truly loved everything we ordered. We started with the meatballs and Italian salad both were excellent and set the tone right away. For mains, we tried the Duck Spring Onion Risotto (a special) and the casoncelli with duck, and honestly, every dish was a hit. Thoughtful flavors, beautifully prepared, and deeply satisfying. Also a major plus is working with local farms for the most fresh ingredients! Service was great throughout the meal attentive, friendly, and paced well. The only minor downsides were related to seating. We sat at a high-top table where wine was served in a stylish water glass rather than a traditional wine glass, which felt a bit off for the experience. Also, the view from our table wasn't ideal one of us had a direct line of sight to the parking lot and the Piggly Wiggly sign, which definitely broke the ambiance a bit. That said, the food and service were strong enough that we'd absolutely come back next time opting for the chef's table or dining room instead. We had a wonderful evening at Cane Pazzo celebrating a friends birthday. I have been wanting to come here for a few months and was very excited to finally be able to see what all the hype was about! I was surprised to find the location tucked away in a shopping plaza next to Piggly Wiggly, but at least there was plenty of parking! Our appetizers were excellent, and all of our entrees were delicious. They also had a wonderful wine selection, and our server, Gracie, guided us perfectly between appetizer choices, helped us pick a bottle of wine, and gave us detailed descriptions of each of the entrees. We felt so well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and worth the drive to Hanahan! That said, we did have one downside: although we ordered a full spread including wine, appetizers, entrees, cocktails, and dessert, we started to feel a bit rushed. The manager, or who we assume was the manager, approached us twice while we were eating asking if we needed anything else, and eventually told us she needed us to leave to make sure the table was available for others, even though we were still enjoying our cocktails and dessert. It felt a bit surprising, especially since we were still happily lingering, enjoying a birthday celebration, and it had been less than two hours. We ended up leaving our unfinished dessert and cocktails on the table. Despite that, we would still recommend Cane Pazzo for the food and Gracie's excellent service--just know that they may not necessarily want you to enjoy your entire meal, and might ask you to leave before you're finished. read more

Service, ambiance, and food all lived up to the hype. What a gem in Hanahan! The restaurant is large but cozy and you can see into the kitchen. My water glass was never empty haha and service was friendly and thorough! They were very busy for a Thursday night but we still felt taken care of. We got the meatballs, bread service, mozzarella sticks, three pastas, steak, tiramisu, and gelato. Everything was delicious but if I had to choose a few from that order, I would get the meatballs, bread, filled pasta, steak, baked pasta, and gelato. The meatballs are a family recipe and have awesome flavor - sometimes I can be underwhelmed by meatball seasonings. The filled pasta was DELICIOUS and maybe the best part of the meal - autumn flavors with a tart but salty sauce - the perfect fall dish. And the banana gelato (and bday gelato for my bday!) was surprisingly good and creamy with salty cookie and dark chocolate/dulce de leche toppings. I am SO, SO excited for this addition to Hanahan. I wanted to come twice before I wrote a review to make sure it wasn't a fluke and I am so happy to report it wasn't! I've dined twice - once on a date night and once for a family birthday celebration - and both times Cane Pazzo was phenomenal. We've ordered quite a few items from the menu but the can't-miss dishes are definitely anything on the specials board, the fried mozzarella, the meatballs, the agnolotti, the risotto (I had a nice tomato, n'duja, stracciatella version), tiramisu, and the entire cocktail/mocktail list. If the long beans are still on the menu, grab those also. We also really, really enjoyed the potatoes if you have room for a side! The pastas are all made in house and I love that even a "simple" dish feels elevated. I can't wait to come with my friends and order family style so I can try even more! So excited to try out a local Italian spot that opened right outside of Charleston. Beautiful establishment located in a strip mall (do NOT let that prevent you from visiting). The interior was stunning and the view of the kitchen is a beautiful touch. There were so many mouth watering choices on the menu. From the moment we arrived, the restaurant was buzzing with energy while still feeling organized and welcoming. The host greeted us with anniversary wishes, and we were seated promptly. Waiting at our table was a handwritten anniversary card signed by the staff, an incredibly thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening. The service was exceptional--warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely engaging. Our server struck the perfect balance of professionalism and personality, making the meal feel both special and relaxed. The food was outstanding. We enjoyed the bread service and special pasta, both of which were extraordinary. The meatballs were brought out as a complimentary surprise, and the charred cabbage and pasta special were among the most memorable dishes we've had in a long time. Cane Pazzo truly lives up the idea of a hidden gem. Located in a strip mall off Yeaman's Hall Rd in Hanahan it's a startling transformation as you leave the parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly and step into a date night worthy classy Italian restaurant. The name means "Mad Dog", a nickname of the chef and owner. The interior is inviting with old photos of family lining the walls. We started with cocktails, my wife having the "against the wind", a tequila drink with Campari, grapefruit, blood orange, and lime. It was rich and fruity. I ordered the "a horse with no name" which was a bourbon drink with lemon, and langhe rosso. I was pleasantly surprised that a drink that has bourbon and red wine would pair so well. For our first appetizer we ordered the very popular daily bread which was wood-fired sourdough, ricotta, Little Wing honey, and benne seed. The bread arrived perfectly charred with sweet and spicy notes from the hot honey and rich ricotta dolloped on top. Ordering this is a must! Up next, the meatballs made with beef + pork, spicy tomato, polenta, and parmesan. The spice profile was excellent, but the true star of the dish was the rich, velvety polenta which you should dip each bite into. On Mondays they have what they call "Mad Dog Monday" where they offer an additional menu, so you have more choices. My wife ordered the chicken parmesan off the Mad Dog menu, which was a crispy chicken thigh, linguine, spicy tomato sauce, basil, and parmesan. The thigh meat meant the chicken was very juicy and the linguine was a perfect al dente. I ordered off the Mad Dog menu as well getting the lumache alla vodka with tomato, cream, whipped ricotta, and crispy prosciutto. The sauce was creamy and full of flavor and the pasta al dente all the way! Service here is on par with the fanciest downtown restaurants, attentive, polite and they even boxed up our leftover for us. A class act all the way! Service was great, always refilling our waters and keeping them cold! Love the "Rat Pack" music inside, though it is a little loud inside, which is good for kids. Food was delicious, we came in mid-April so soft shell crab season was in full swing. Had the non-alcoholic lychee/ginger Yellow Ledbetter drink which was very refreshing. My only complaint is that the Lumache beef bolognese was a little light on the meat, though the sauce was very rich. Highly recommend requesting to add one of their delicious meatballs to increase the protein in the dish. My son had the soft shell crab pasta nightly special, he said the lemon pasta was a little too sour for his taste but I sampled some and I thought it was fine. Who would have thought this unassuming little corner plaza in Hanahan would house multiple delicious restaurants? I have to start off with a shout out to our amazing server, Anne H. She treated us like family, to the point where I was wracking my brain to figure out if I had met her before or somehow knew her. If she had grabbed an extra chair to sit with us, it would have felt totally normal. If you get Anne as your server, count your blessings. You're off to a great start. As for food... This group of friends and I choose a restaurant for quarterly family dinner. We typically order the entire menu. CP's menu was a little too long for that to happen, but we did order most of it. Appetizers: 1. Two orders of meatballs (currently $13 each), honestly one of the best meatballs I have ever had the luck to eat. I could have just eaten that meatball and left happy. 2. The daily bread ($8) was crispy on the bottom and fluffy on top and melting deliciousness in my mouth. Anne described it as a Neapolitan pizza style crust and she was spot-on. 3. Two orders of Shuler Farms peach special ($14) - we ordered one and ate it so quickly that we asked for a second order. Even better than the meatballs, if I dare say. This is the dish that peaches were made for. 4. Two orders of fig & prosciutto special ($14) - I don't normally like gorgonzola anything, but this was delicious. 5. Crispy mozz ($10) I didn't actually try this but everyone else at the table loved it, especially with the leftover sauce from the meatballs. 6. Long beans ($8) - I would eat this every day for the rest of my life. The fontina fondue? Genius. Loved it. It was also really fun to pull the beans out like spaghetti. 7. Charred eggplant ($8) this was an afterthought and we ordered it with our entrees, but also deserves recognition. YUM. Entrees: We ordered all of the pastas. Six of us, six pastas, good math. 1. Linguine ($25) was my favorite. Lightly seasoned, the most summer-y dish in my opinion. 2. Agnolotti ($25) second favorite. The creamed corn made the dish for me. 3. Lumache ($24) the perfect bite and the perfect ragu. 4. Bucatini ($22) closest to standard spaghetti and sauce for our pickiest eater but we all went back for another bite. 5. Triangoli ($23) triangle raviolis, almost everyone's favorite but mine - it was a little al dente for me, but the filling was divine. 6. Risotto ($29) I don't love crab so it was my least favorite by no fault of its own. My friends also each ordered an affogato (I had a bite and wish I could have had room for more) and two got tiramisu to bring home for breakfast, which looked very good. Cane Pazzo was a great choice for Friendsgiving this year! It is an an unassuming place by its location but there is a delightful patio outdoors and the inside is cozy and warm. The drink menu is diverse and I had an old fashion that was perfect. I ordered the mushroom risotto that was the best I have had. Everyone else loved their meals and our server wad attentive and passionate about his job. The service was on point and the food was phenomenal. The pasta is made fresh and the ingredients local. The energy of the kitchen adds to the ambiance and experience. It's located in an out of the way old shopping mall in a modest part of Hanahan - but the parking lot is full every night with cars from all over CHS, and I'd say it's challenging some of the Charleston big dogs. The decor is warm and classic, it's got an excellent wine list - and really great service. The menu, of course, is all Italian. But like Italian restaurants in Italy, there's no such thing as a standard dish, since each chef makes the standards in his own way. Our group of four had two pastas, a risotto and their Monday night special, classic "Italian American Chicken Parm." We also had a couple of antipasti (pork belly and crispy mozzarella) - the pork belly was particularly amazing, with the silkiest fat and most melting meat ever and a wonderful muscadine agrodolce setting it off. We ubered from downtown CHS, a little expensive but probably worth it if you're not familiar with Hanahan. Our experience at Cane Pazzo was nothing short of amazing. From the greeting upon entrance until we walked out of the door, the service was extremely warm and welcoming. They have a great menu and the items they serve are done extremely well. We loved every single dish that we ordered. I'd also recommend sitting at the chef's table if it's available. It really felt like being inside of a truly authentic Italian restaurant, from the ambience and design to the carefully chosen music that was played. It sucks that I didn't take any pictures of the food because there was so much detail in the presentation. This was a great birthday dinner for my wife and they even got the entire staff to sign a birthday card for her. The attention to detail emphasis on doing the little things exceptionally well will make me a regular here! read more

I can not say enough amazing things about Cane Pazzo! We came later on a Saturday night. Packed house. Make sure to make a reservation way ahead thats for sure. The food, drinks, dessert, service, ambience.. fabulous! The waiter Nick, my man! Great service, very knowledgeable. The food, chefs kiss! Applause to all of the kitchen. Christmas decor, music & even a train that could easily be missed unless you're looking for it. Please keep the train year round! The Daily Bread is an absolute must to order everytime! You will not be disappointed. We loved it all honestly but I was a little sad with the roasted carrots. The dish tasted great, but i like vegetables and the 2 different sauces took over any carrot flavor. We learned that the Chef rotates the menu often to keep dishes & food items fresh & seasonal. Very happy to have such a restaurant like this close by and not all the way downtown. We will be back many times! read more
