    Veal Parmesan

Wow what an experience. Made a reservation to go before a concert. We both wanted to get veal, so we did. This bone in veal chop Parmesan could have fed both of us. It was cooked to perfection and so was the pasta. Our server made sure we always had full water and full alcoholic beverages without being overbearing. We sat in the bar and it was a fun atmosphere of others going to the concert, yet still felt upscale. Delicious meal!

We went on Tuesday and they were closed so we came back Thursday. The bread and herb butter dip was excellent. The pear cocktail was superb. The waiter said he'd never sold one but I bet he's singing a different tune a month from now because - wowza!!!! The spring salad was good. I loved the blackberries. There were a lot of fresh peach slices which my friends enjoyed helping me eat. More goat cheese would have been ideal. Happy hour was in the bar only and ended at 6 (everything we read said 7 so we were disappointed since we arrived at 6:01). My friend tried to order bruschetta but they took it off the menu. The veel was ok but not worth what they charged.

Informal Italian restaurant in the heart of Daniel Island . Upon entering the restaurant, the red checkered plastic tablecloths set a casual tone . Relaxed , family ambiance . Expect to see folks from all walks of life : kids , families , people just getting off work , dates etc . In regards to food : i found everything underwhelming with just average taste. Everything ordered seemed like it was missing something. We ordered : Stuffed mushrooms appetizer Meatballs appetizer Caprese salad Braised veal short rib entree Piccata entree The meatballs were the best thing we ordered . After trying multiple dishes and being disappointed in most of it , this is not a restaurant I'd likely go to again .

Went to Ristorante LIDI for dinner with my coworker. For a Thursday night, the restaurant was not busy at all. We ordered two appetizers to start with. The meatball was super tender and flavorful and the calamari were fried perfectly. I started with a Manhattan. It was good, but the glass was not filled to the rim. The second glass I had did. For our entrees, my coworker ordered chicken parm with pasta and I ordered a shrimp scampi. The chicken parm was good, but the scampi was mediocre. The shrimps were small, rubbery and salty with overcooked pasta. My least favorite dish. Our waitress was tentative and friendly. Outside of the shrimp scampi disappointment, everything else was pretty good.

I hadn't been in since doing pickup meals during covid times, but I recently had a group birthday dinner here and it was great. To be honest, I was looking a trying one of the hot new restaurants downtown that I have on my list, but I had some friends coming that weren't very adventurous eaters and didn't want to break the bank on dinner. I decided I would look for something that worked for everyone regarding price, cuisine, and easy of access. Well who doesn't love reasonably priced Italian food with that's centrally located in town and has free parking?!? It was a Monday night so it was pretty quiet in there but made us feel like we had a private dining experience. Our server was great and made sure to course everything out slowly while one person was super late. The eggplant rollatini is a great starter and a since I couldn't decide between pizza and pasta, I ordered both and shared the pizza... delicious but often overlooked as a shareable appetizer. For my entree I had the Fettuccine with Pancetta and Peas and it was great as well. While I wouldn't say it's my favorite Italian restaurant around Charleston, it's a great option that fit the bill for this dinner. I'm glad it's back on my radar, because I think I'll consider it more often now.

We headed here before a show we were seeing at the stadium nearby. This was super close and easy parking. We had made a reservation in advance to make sure we didn't have to worry. It wasn't busy when we got there on a Friday but it was also an early dinner time. Since it was early dinner, we were too hungry so we decided to split a salad and a pasta. They were so lovely to split them plate wise for us. We got complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic to dip. Yum. Salad was basic - croutons extra crunchy. Good though! We got the bolognese. It was still a lot even though I only had half of the serving. I liked the pasta type used - chewy like gnocchi.

Great New Spot on Clements Ferry!…read more We tried Salute for takeout and were really impressed! It's a new addition to Clements Ferry Road, so we wanted to give it a shot -- and they delivered (literally and figuratively). We ordered the Drunken Chicken, which is a fun play on words since it comes with vodka sauce, penne, and a perfectly crispy chicken cutlet. The portion size was generous, the chicken was fresh and crunchy, and the sauce was plentiful -- which I absolutely loved. I'm a "make it saucy" person, and they nailed it. Everything was wrapped in foil, and despite a 20-minute drive home, all the food was still piping hot. Huge win. We also tried the sausage meatball spaghetti (we subbed in angel hair), and my husband said the all-beef meatball was probably the best he's had at any restaurant around here. Another great portion size and great flavor. Overall, Salute made a fantastic first impression. Everything was delicious, fresh, and thoughtfully packed. We're definitely looking forward to trying more dishes!

There were a few amazing dishes, some good dishes, 1 miss, and 1 that was just awful. The service was super friendly, but the timing was off a tad. We waited a good bit of time between the 1st and 2nd course, but then the 3rd course came out before we had 2 bites of the 2nd. After that the timing was much better. The restaurant itself is large and nice, but does not give off a cozy vibe, and we felt too close to our neighbors. I wasn't sure if I should do the meal review from good to bad dish, or by course, but decided it makes sense to the latter Starting with the Aperitivo course, we both got the Scallop crudo. The wife and I disagreed on this dish, as I enjoyed the aroma of and taste of the fried capers, and thought lemon added a nice touch of acid. However, I thought the dish needed either more capers or salt as the sauce was bland and there were not enough capers to make up for it. For the Antipasti I had the Seafood Arancini which was a crispy, golden Italian rice balls consisting of a mix of lump crab meat, Miss Paula shrimp (which upon looking up is from the seafood market at Tarvin Seafood), along with scallops, mascarpone, and creme fraiche aioli. This was an OK dish The wife ordered the Sicilian Octopus, with summer squash, zucchini, smoked pecan romesco. Here is another dish we disagreed on, but only because my wife has decided she does not like Octopus. I on the other hand loved it and thought the dish was great. The meat was tender and had a great char flavor. There were two sauces, one was a romesco and the was green (I think pesto) that the wife and I both really enjoyed. For the Zuppa y insalata course I had the Lobster bisque with sherry cream, crispy focaccia crouton. I took the 1st bite and immediately knew it was good; however, I had to send it back because it was served room temperature at best. Upon having it reheated, I thought this was easily one of the best Lobster bisques ever. The flavors were bold and spicy, but not so bold that I could not taste the lobster. The wife ordered the Seafood salad. Another dish with Miss Paula shrimp, bay scallops and pieces of calamari, supposedly topped with lemon herb vinaigrette. We both agreed this dish was bland, bland, followed by more blandness. There was no salt, no acid from the Lemon Vinaigrette and not a whiff of spice or taste from the herbs. It was just Scallops, a few pieces of calamari and some thinly sliced shrimp with zero flavor. For the Secondo course I had the Scallop risotto, with fire roasted peppers, sweet corn, crispy pancetta, and parmigiano. Here we go another amazing dish. The Scallops were cooked perfectly, and the risotto was loaded with flavor. The fire roasted peppers with sweet corn just added extra pop. The dish was made more pleasing to the eye with a ring of green sauce halfway around the risotto and the other half with a red sauce. There was so much flavor in the risotto, I could not tell if it added flavor or not, but it was clearly added to the visual aspect. Here is where the meal really took a hit as the wife ordered the Grilled branzino mediterranean sea bass, with charred broccolini, potatoes, artichokes, fresh herb oil, yellow tomato vinaigrette. When I took a small bite my first reaction was OH NO, I don't think she is going to like this. When I took a second bite, I realized it was uneatable. The skin on the fish was a bit tough and Slimy making it hard to cut. The fish was covered in a sauce that was just gross and not eatable. The only good thing about this dish was the charred broccolini which we both agreed was good. After that Sea Bass we were both done and decided to get the Dolce course to go. I ordered the Tiramisu cheesecake which we both enjoyed when we got home. The wife's Limoncello cake which was an olive oil cake soaked in limoncello, sweet cranberries with orange marmalade, was OK but neither of us would order again. So here we are with a tale of two dinners experience. Except for the 1st dish, we both thought everything I ordered was really good, but on the other hand, the wife didn't like anything she ordered, while I really loved the octopus, thought her Antipasti And Dolce dishes were just OK, the Seafood salad was tasteless, and the Sea Bass was just awful.

The bread and butter was really good, and it was a great start to our lunch. Soon, our plates arrived, which had pasta and a sandwich. We started with pasta and it was delicious!
