Best club to dance at in Charleston! Went one night a while back and they had such a great DJ that played a bunch of house/dubstep EDM bangers. We need more places like this in South Carolina, so I appreciate when clubs are hiring like actually good DJs that are playing fun club music that you can dance to and not just remixes of the top hits charts. read more

Bob Moses was unoriginal and unenjoyable. A nice venue but a bad and over priced set. Feels a bit like a strip mall but the sound system is nice and the staff is highly attentive. Drinks are a good price. read more

Not in the best part of town and it's incredibly crowded. Private shows have the overflow from the actual bar, security is very tense and will have no problem shoving through you to tend to bottle service. I wouldn't attend a show here again, but the bathrooms are very clean! Lol. read more

Had a horrible experience when I went there for the first time in 8 years. Was having a polite conversation then was aggressively approached by a bouncer who told me I had to leave now. He proceeded to aggressively force me out, another bouncer admitted that i had done nothing wrong. I'm convinced it was because I am gay and was slightly flamboyantly having a conversation with a female. Have filed a BBB report and will never go back read more

Always a fun environment with up to date, popular DJs and Artists playing on the regular. Just open a new Tiki Patio out back along with a food truck that has AMAZING food. it is the perfect way to bring in the summertime! Potential patrons take note: Trio is where you want to be if you're an attention-seeking uncultured rube. If I could give the waitresses here 5 stars, I would. They were super professional and friendly. Any spill on the dance floor they were on top of cleaning up and would walk around making sure everyone had a drink. I was DD and they still made sure I had water and soda to drink. This was the best part of being here. Now onto the negative. I came here as an invitation to a birthday party and we had a reserved spot in the corner. The place was unbelievably hot and it wasn't even full yet. The place should invest in some fans. The club needs to hire better DJ's. The music was mediocre at best. The DJ would play the music to songs and then sing the lyrics himself, mostly out of tune and with a synthesizer piano in between songs. Someone was there playing a saxophone WAY out of tune. It was like they were playing there own songs over the music. He had a big mix of different types of music which is good but he played Gold Digger by Kanye West 3 times in 2 hours, and he sang the lyrics.... I would not recommend this place to anyone. There's a club next door that was playing great music while I waited for my ride. Never again! read more

I cannot tell a lie. I had a blast at Trio a couple weeks ago. They hosted one of the after parties during Fashion Week. I was at every Fashion Week after party this year and aside for the official after party on Saturday, the one at Trio was my favorite. There was a good crowd, good music, and drinks were flowing. Sounds like a recipe for success and it absolutely was that night. Everyone was having a good time which really brought the energy up in the place. This is my second time in after the renovation. The first time was pretty lame and it was shortly after they opened. We ended up leaving after about twenty minutes as we were very unimpressed after all the "hype" of them re-opening. One good experience and one bad leaves me somewhere in the middle. I'll report back later because they can only go up or down from here. read more

I first learned of this location through their conversion from their old POS system to the Digital Dining system we installed there. We spent time there when they were about to open, while they were open and once the last customer left. I personally feel this is the best night club in Charleston, as I no longer 'club', but being from NYC, have been to many. Additionally, working in the F&B industry, I have been to many night life spots, this reinforces my opinion. Bartenders are great-fast-professional and friendly (they always remember my drink, which I like..thanks Tom) It is a bit of a attack on the ears, once you step in to the club, but if you can scurry off to the bar, order and settle in, it is a better option than what happens to some people, that get stuck in the first few steps into the main room. If your looking for a club scene, this is the place to go to. read more

honestly the worst service i've ever received. it was the end of the night bar for us and the bouncers were incredibly rude and even the people there were rude. the bouncers yelled at me to pick up someones cup that i WALKED BY drunk and spilled- which i went and picked up bc I understand that- but I went to go sit at a empty bar seat and was shoved off because the guy sitting next to me was married by a friend? okay? i was going to sit not hit on him. I wouldn't recommend. rude people work here and rude people go here. read more

We had an amazing time at Trio! My girls and I went for my bachelorette party over the weekend and we had the best time! We reserved a table for the night and Kate made sure we had everything we needed the whole night. She was great and even got my sister some flip flops when her heels were killing her from dancing. They made my night so special and I had the best night with my girls. Would definitely recommend for a great bachelorette night! read more

I've been coming to trio for years and every weekend is another amazing artist! The club itself has many different areas and different atmospheres. Just recently renovated their patio to a beautiful tiki summer spot. Come here before "Club Trio" opens to get some speciality drinks/cocktails in a tropical environment. Check this place out!! To start we paid $600 for a table in not even the popular part of the bar where we also waited longer than bar guests for alcohol. It took 20 minutes for our table to even be served any form of alcohol. We should have known then this "table service" was a joke. We were there for a bachelorette party and not only did not get alcohol worth the table payment (or the time it took to get it) but the night just continues to get worse. The staff does not monitor tables at all, you pay for table service to pour your own drinks, police who is actually in the area, and who's drinking the alcohol. A large wedding party came in and overtook the whole area, spilling drinks on the couch we paid for. Their guests were also allowed to come into our area to the point we had to ask them to leave and inform them our party and alcohol was not part of theirs. Our area was constantly covered in alcohol because of people who were way too drunk being allowed at our table and security not doing their job. So basically if you want to pay $600 to be covered in alcohol and sober by the time you leave being pushed out of your own table you paid for, then this is the place. They automatically tip 18% and we wouldn't have even left 15% considering we did not get any service. read more

Probably the worst bar/club I've ever been to. Well, been to is a stretch. My friends and I are out of towners and were turned away at the door after waiting in line for over a half hour. The bouncers said we did not have a key so we would not be let in. Flat out refusal to four attractive girls. Absolutely idiotic. Tell us this before we wait in line. We may not come from Southern money but our money is as good as anyone else's. Never experienced anything like this in Vegas, Chicago, even London. If it doesn't work there, it won't work in Charleston. read more

I AM GIVING THIS CLUB 1 MEASLY STAR BC THATS ALL IT DESERVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just picture this: 4 out of towners, looking for a nice time. Smiling, gliding through the streets, taking pictures in front of Palm trees, crossing the streets with caution, giving each other wet willys We heard this place would be playing gucci mane and bobby shmurda, so we walked 388329 blocks to Trio. We were so excited !!!!!!! Finally, it was time to twerk!!! We waited in line for 20 min. We got to the front and the door dudes demanded we have a "key" to enter. Huh???? A key? How the hell can I get my hands on this key if I'm from Atlanta? What The little door man told us we couldn't come inside. We were all looking very nice. 3 blondes and 1 brunette, ranging from 5'3 to 5'6, very nice figures, very straight teeth, very friendly. NO!! STILL CANT GET IN!!! So then we got rejected and left. Atmosphere: bro meets club. This is obviously where CofC grads in Charleston come to dance, drink, and get laid. I know this because I am a CofC grad... I have no idea why my fellow peers would chose to go to this shit hole when there are so many other amazing bars in Charleston. Not only was the staff rude to me (especially the ridiculously sort guy with the abnormally huge ego) but the bar is literally giant, dark rooms with no atmosphere. I left my ID at this bar and tried to retrieve it the entire next day. They said they would be open at 8 to get my card but I had dinner reservations at 8:15 so I figured I'd just pick it up after. When I got to trio the short man I referred to earlier told me that he could not open the safe for them to give me my ID. Not only that but he was the biggest asshole ever and acted like the most important man in the world. Having worked in the service industry for years, I have never witnessed a place where employees were allowed to treat their customers so poorly. I will not be returning to this place. I'm sure this review won't do much as this place does the business. However, I hope to visitors of the Holy City, that this review serves as an accurate depiction of this establishment. Never will go back and will urge everyone I know to stay away from this place. A few friends and I went to Trio after leaving Stars and Banner. We were celebrating a friends wedding and wanted a good night in town. When we arrived to Trio expecting to show our I.D. and get in... we were turned down by the bouncer at the door. Why? Just like everyone else has said.. "No Membership Key" No Membership Key is code word for we don't like your kind. We watched several people get into the lounge by showing their ID and others get rejected for not having the mysterious Membership Key. They literally hand picked who they wanted in their establishment. read more

Best Cover Band. Ever. They cover pop really well. I mean, Lady Gaga never sounded so good. THere is a realy great vibe, and everyone dances, so you don't feel akward if you decide to get down. Booze is cheap compared to NYC, but probably moderate for Charleston. We ordered two rounds of shots for 6 people, and two mixed drinks for $50. $8 to park, $5 dollars to get in p/p, $42 for 4 drinks (not including tip). I'm originally from Miami so this night was a bargain. Once you step in you are immediately attacked by the loud band. They did play some pretty hip songs, but what they lack in talent they make up in volume. So, we went upstairs. A DJ spins hip hop while the girls grind each other and the guys turn into wallflowers. Seriously, the ratio of guy to girl was nearly 10:1. The crowd ranged from young college kids to older (think mom & dad) I found that the music upstairs wasn't as updated as the cover band downstairs. They have a cove with couches and a pole for girls to let out their inner stripper. It was ok at best. read more

Best cub in Charleston hands down. The renovation is next to flawless. Bartenders are some of the best in town. The upstairs lighting and visual boards are absolutely insane. I'm somewhere between a 3 and 4 stars on this place. Calhoun is the street of clubs and I will say trio is my favorite outta the ones I've been to. That being said, nothing happens downstairs. The party is upstairs and if you don't have fun dancing, go to upper king bars instead. There's a DJ on the weekends, young crowd just wanting to party and cheap drinks. The past time I did go, there were some older guys that just didn't get the message that we didn't want to dance with them. This is expected of any dance club so can't downgrade trio because of that. The metallic wallpaper, the chandelier, the velvet banquets and pub chairs are all indulgent and immersively pink. However, the quality of the food and service were just not up to my expectations or the price point of $80.00 per person. Even though there were only 4 tables of two at our 11am Thursday reservation, there was only one server and the food took a while to come out. This is despite the fact that nothing was hot and I suspect it was all pre-prepared and came out of a fridge in the back. First bites of cornbread were served at 11:30 and our savory snacks at 11:45am. Sweet treats (including cold scones) were served at 12:10pm. The food was fine, but there wasn't any one thing that I really loved. I did like the timers on the table for the different types of tea. It was a fun and interactive way to see how long your type of tea should be steeped. However, there was no way to remove the tea leaves from your teapot once it had reached the correct steeping time... so it just continued to steep from there. Maybe it's better for champagne cocktails? Go for the aesthetics. I wouldn't recommend going for the tea.

It only poses an issue because I'd say that one section definitely has the nicer views and more audible music (the speakers are better situated on this section). That means you'll have to be specific with your server on where you want to sit in order to get the best views and music (and if it's a nice day out, I anticipate that these few seats will fill up fast). If they had stellar drinks, it almost wouldn't matter because a nice rooftop is a nice rooftop with the right drinks. However, because their drinks aren't the best in that I find they lack complexity (e.g., balancing sugar with the harshness of hard liquor), it's not the most ideal place for everyone.

Tonight they had a DJ playing and from Thursday through Saturday they have live jazz music. This seem like a fun place only if we were here on one of their busier night.
