Visiting Charleston warranted us to dig for places to fit our themed outfit nights on my friend's Bach trip. After several searches we found us a good western bar that would complement the fits. If you've ever been to Cotton Eyed Joe's in Knoxville, Tn, then you can expect the same here. Very mixed crowd, great bar food, incredible wait staff, phenomenal Dj, exceptional libations, large dance floor, and plenty of fun to be had. Tip your Dj and servers. They did an amazing job here and made sure we had THE BEST time. They definitely knew we weren't local to the area, but ensured we achieved the mission for going. I was visiting the area so I stopped by for their Thursday Ladies Night and their Friday Line Dancing Lessons. On Thursday, my friend and I arrived around 8:15pm and stayed til 10:30pm. The floor started getting busy around 9pm. The first 45 minutes were a bit slow with fewer dancers but then as the night went on, more and more of the regulars (I presume) showed up. We requested a couple songs which were played pretty quickly and overall the music was similar to what I've danced to at country bars in Northern California. More club songs with line dances than I've ever seen before. People were friendly and the dance floor was big, so it wasn't too hard to pick up the dances on the floor. On Friday, we came around 7pm for the line dances. This was a much different crowd than the night before. A lot of seniors were there, and an older lady was teaching the lessons. She taught us a couple of improver dances and called the lessons "advanced." She moved rather quickly through the dances and often consulted her clipboard. I wish she would have used the stage so more of us could have watched her boots. I've been dancing pretty regularly the last year and it was even hard for me to keep up with her lessons. A number of others were struggling too. After the line dances, they played a lot of music - not necessarily typical country music - but every song had a line dance and the group of seniors knew every single one. It was pretty impressive. They also played some swing songs throughout the night. Probably about a 1:4 ratio once the younger crowd started showing up around 9pm. Overall it was a good time but not the best for newcomers. This was a good time though! I haven't been to many country bars around the country but I enjoyed the line dancing scene here and it reminded me of the bars back in Northern California. read more

I had the best dancing night at this place that I even forgot to take pictures! It's a line dancing place but every couple songs, they play regular club music. I was skeptical to go here but it's been a thing for me and friends to go here now! Highly recommend it for anybody who wants to dance the night away! Never will i eat here again.. Now the staff at 5pm were friendly but the ribs...wife could not cut them..... even with their serrated butter knife.. Now maybe they were made fresh...yea but that was days ago.... These were just reheated and OVER COOKED DRY....considering the dinner meal time was just starting the ribs should have been fresh....no way No kidding these were not close to being tender they were just plain tough. I've been to HonkeyTonk Saloon a handful of times now. I really enjoy the night scene there. The country dancing is so much fun and I love learning the line dances. I always go to Becky's bar because, of course, she is the SWEETEST. I love her so much. She is the bartender next to the pool tables. She always makes you feel like family when you come. They do have special events and happy hour specials. I know they also have wrestling and special guests, too. Go check it out on Friday...or even a weekday. read more

We drove past and made a joke about going to see what this place was about. We were absolutely not let down. Vibe was amazing, music was great, food was out of this world. It's not normally empty like the video when I've gone to the Honky Tonk Saloon. It was still early on and then it got busy. It's a nice place to relax and have fun with whomever you choose. Had the pleasure of speaking with the owner and he was super friendly and gave me his card. I had been asking how I'd be able to get a tiktok creator booked there and he was beyond helpful! I've been to honky tonk many times since my recent move to Charleston. Jordan W has somehow always outshined the other people there that have taken care of me. I work food and beverage as well so I love to give credit where it's due! She is knowledgeable of what is going on behind the bar and somehow always manages to make her job look fun all while taking excellent care of the guest. I particularly seek her out because she gives 5 star service and makes you feel at home. This bar is a 12/10 all together, I've not had a single bad experience. Great drinks, great music, great service and LINE DANCING!! Does not get better than that. I highly recommend checking out this bar! My husband and I drove up from Charleston while on vacation to check out this spot, which I've been to before. We read on the website that they were open on Tuesdays from 4 pm - 12 am. They were closed when we arrived at 6:40 pm. I am writing this review while in their parking lot. There is nothing on their website or Facebook that indicates they are closed. Google also says they are open. Their website and Facebook even promotes Taco Tuesday. My husband and I are avid country dancers and wanted to see this spot, even on a slow night, before we left town tomorrow. I am very disappointed that Charleston Hospitality Group, a large and well known company in the Charleston area, doesn't have their #*%+% together. read more

Was really looking forward to trying the Honky Tonk out for the first time, unfortunately neither management nor staff lived up to even the lowest of expectations. Doormen were condescending and seemed to take great pleasure in talking down to myself and my friend, I'm glad that they felt the need to 'mansplain' things to both of us. I didn't realize this place was as cool as it was. They serve Queology BBQ from downtown. The people here were friendly. The place is a little farther than I'd care to travel for an adult beverage but it was nice to see friends that I hadn't seen in a while. It's a little pricey. Guess cuz they have Queology food here. I didn't eat but the drinks were definitely more expensive than I expected. They had karaoke on Wednesdays which is far enough from the bar so it was enjoyable. read more

HonkyTonk is a good country bar with constant music playing, mostly focused on line dancing. There's two sides, the dance floor side and the pool hall. Both are full of friendly people, and the food's pretty good too! Not the largest beer selection though. read more

We had a fantastic time at the Magic Mike XXL show!!! Hoping it's true that they will be back in December because we WILL be there !! This was our first visit here. They removed 50% of all seating. While it does create more dance space, this space is now taken by customers with drinks standing against the wall on the dance floor due to the poor choice of DJ's not playing country music. They have a section of seating, but it will cost you $100.00 for one wobbly table and 4 chairs. Customers are just standing around anywhere and everywhere, spilling drinks and creating crowding. The main entrance is barricaded off. Due to lack of chairs, customers are now standing on the dance floor with drinks. The inside feels as if they have no A/C. The changes that are taking place at the Honky Tonk are not good. It concerns me as I been enjoying going there for a very long time and the 50 other regulars who have been going there every weekend as well. read more

Very good burgers cooked to the temperature that we ordered them! I was expecting the jalapeños to be the normally weak ones that we get from the store, so I kept them all on the burger I ordered. I've been to a couple of places that do line dancing before, and the people here were way more willing to help you out/ teach you the moves than at other places.
