The bar!

Cute, tiny little bar in a nice, shaded alley. Cold beer, great service! There were plenty of canned drink selections and two frozen cocktails.

Eddie the Best Bartender in the Smallest Bar

Busiest Smallest Bar in Charleston. Thanks to Scotty, @yelp and one of the finest bartenders in town known as Eddie. Located down a cozy little alley full of great restaurants which is where Eddie ordered us some yummy appetizers. Also right next to the Music Hall known for excellent entertainment. So glad to know of such a quiet little place in downtown Charleston full of exciting things to do.

Eddie is the best!! My second time here and I will still come back. Eddie always take care of his guests Ordered the Hudson Hooch for me and my friend Kim she liked it but needed something stronger. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu but the prices were the same as the menu so no real discount on the food- Management where is the deal. I ordered the mussels(ok needed more flavor) and the Fish Tacos were filled with fresh fish with the slaw and a tasty sauce. My guests had the Buffalo tacos and Kim loved her Manchego Oysters

What a fun place for a drink or to meet with friends after work on a Friday! Charleston's Smallest Bar has so much character and a fun vibe! I was lucky enough to visit during a Yelp event and tried their Hutson Alley Hooch drink, SO good! I snagged a chair at the bar and quickly made friends with the bartender and other patrons. Even though the bar is small, there is plenty of seating outside in the alley. They have Jenga, a small foosball table, cornhole, and good music! We were a larger party so we decided to eat at Coast, next door. I highly recommend this bar for a pre-game if you're going to an event at the Music Hall or looking for a low-key place to hang with friends.

This was an amazing experience! Eddie was so personable and nice. He kept the vibe up all night. The area is adorable. It is nestled in a alley. There are games on the tables outside and the music is popping! I was able to order food from Crust which was great! 10/10 recommend

Charleston's smallest bar with Bartender Eddie was a fun place to visit. Only 4 bar seats and this cozy little place. Outdoor seating area along the alley has different games for you to entertain yourself . Music playing in the ally way makes it a fun place to gather with friends. The bar itself has a small variety of alcohol choices . No tap beer. The Hutson Alley Hooch was delicious. The shrimp cocktail was yummy. They do offer a small appetizer menu as well a as food from Coastal seafood. Order your drink and food at this small bar and it delivered to you a short time. Wonderful atmosphere. Challenge is parking since it is located downtown Charleston. I do recommend you visit this small bar if you are In the Charleston area.

Hutson Alley Hootch

Came here for my 1st Yelp event! It's exactly what it sounds like...a small fun bar! The Hutson Alley Hooch was a delicious and mouthwatering cocktail! There are a few seats at the actual bar and then a few others outside. Bartender is fun to talk with too.

They offer some snacks (appetizers off coast menu) and these were the gluten free options! Also fried shrimp, etc.

Stopped here before our show at Charleston music hall. Coast next door offers a full dining experience but we only had 30 minutes. Grabbed a few canned cocktails and "snacks" which are the appetizers off coast's menu. Crab dip with grilled bread, shrimp ceviche with chips, fries, congrejo ceviche (scallop & crab), and shrimp cocktail. All delicious! All 3 of us were full. Great service, great food, and great vibes.

Love this gem! Eddie is friendly and personable. Drinks are yummy and flowing. Love the inside of this smallest bar but that they had additional seats right outside with games makes it so you can stay and relax longer than just a drink. There are snacks or food options for purchase if you're hungry too!

Stopped here before a night of yelp events. Hospitality was incredible. We got the Hutson Alley Hootch, and it was great! It is not a sweat drink at all. Paired with hush puppies and some Jenga it was a great time! Parking is tough but street parking is free after 6. Perfect place to go before a show at the music hall!

If you blink, you'll miss it. While walking down Hutson Alley, be sure to keep an eye out for Charleston's Smallest Bar. It's located behind Rue de Jean and right before reaching Coast Bar & Grill. 4-5 stools at the bar inside what looks like it was probably a storage room for the other restaurants. The bartender was very welcoming and offers a few selections of canned & bottles drinks, as well as 2 frozen premade drinks. There is also a menu of snacks that would be great while possibly waiting for a table at one of the restaurants it's sandwiched between. There are a few bar top tables along the walkway with tabletop games. I had the mango flavored frozen cocktail, but it tasted more like OJ and needed a way more Mango puree. They carry one of my favorite canned cocktail brands, Cutwater. The selection at the time was low, so hopefully, they'll be restocked with the other flavors listed on their menu the next time I stop by.

Not great service. Inappropriate commentary and touching from bartender. Won't return.

Church and Union is in a wonderful location as welll~ just across from the open air city market and steps from the waterfront. The Servers are friendly and efficient and aim to please. Everywhere else that had Halloween theme dinners were booked. So my daughters and I were elated that Church and Union had reservation times. We chose 8:30 for our party of 4. We dressed as 2000's rappers and were relieved that the hostess and other staff were also dressed up as well! We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation and were promptly seated. The last time I'd been inside, I was in college and it was a nightclub that had been an actual church. (sn: I'm old ). The decor gave slightly gothic, religious. We had an awesome server who made sure to ask about any allergies. Pita chips and humus were brought out but weren't fans. I couldn't eat the pita chips, we all tried the humus and it was bland, lacking any flavor or seasoning. I had the lamb burger with gluten free bun and another potato option as the fries were breaded. My oldest daughter had the lamb burger with fries and the twins both had only a serving of fries. The portion sizes for the sides were huge! Our dinner was delicious. I'd say that the burger could use a little more seasoning My cocktail was refreshing and I "learned" that it was the number one choice, although I probably wouldn't choose it again. Over all, we had a great time and we'd go back to try something new for brunch and/or dinner.

I know it sounds funny to rave about chicken nuggets, but these were honestly some of the best I've ever had. They reminded me so much of McDonald's chicken nuggets in the best possible way. I stayed for a drink and ended up getting treated to an incredible thunder and lightning show over the city. It wasn't even raining, which made it even cooler to watch from the rooftop. Between the amazing views, the friendly bartender who saved me from going to bed hungry, and unexpectedly fantastic chicken nuggets, this ended up being one of my favorite stops in Charleston. I'll definitely be back for another drink...and another order of chicken nuggets.

The roof top however gives off more of a college/dive bar vibe despite having a great view of the city. When we went on Monday only one bar, the downstairs one was open. Despite there being servers it didn't seem that anyone wanted to take tables so the solution was for guests to order drinks/food at the downstairs bar and bring it up to the deck themselves. While the bartender was nice, fast, and good at her job everyone else around her just didn't seem to care to provide service. The chips on the trio platter were beyond stale and since servers didn't care to serve the top deck tables were left unbussed and dirty. Not sure if this experience was a case of severe understaffing or just negligence on the management. I'd recommend going to literally any other rooftop bar for a more elevated experience where the staff actually wants to serve the guests.
