I want to start off by saying how much we love coming here. My husband and I have been patronizing the club for years and the level of professionalism from the staff has stayed top-notch consistently. Nick Milak who works the door has always treated us like family and tells us to contact him if we have any trouble. The space has been renovated in recent years and is more spacious and comfortable than it already was. The synthetic grass is a welcome touch and gives a soft feel that also provides traction so guests don't slip on a spilled drink. My husband loves to have a cigar on the roof top because of the beautiful views and vibe the venue gives off. The bartenders are always accommodating even when they are slammed with customers and they make wonderfully crafted cocktails. We can't wait to come back because we are overdue for a fun night out. read more

I did NOT dig this place. On a rainy night, my friends popped in here to grab a drink. I can't really understand why. Perhaps we just hit a slow night, but the place was dead. Even full, I just didn't see it's appeal. I guess I'm told it's a club and Charleston doesn't have a lot. Maybe on a warmer day I'll come back and enjoy this place, but I just can't give them any higher than 2* based on my experience. Great Dance Club just upstairs from Henry's. I'm not much of a dancer but my wife loves to dance. This place is a perfect mix of people young and old we don't feel like we're out of place be the oldest ones in the room. Great staff, decent priced drinks, and a lively atmosphere. And the music stayed pumping through the speakers all night till close at 2. Definitely leave the kids at home they won't be allowed in! All in all a top notch downtown nightclub!! read more

My trips to Charleston have been very limited throughout my life. Until I came for a bachelor party a few years ago, I had only been as a child. So as far as the bar scene in the city, I am unaware of the evolution of how it has gone over the years. In Tim K's review, he says there aren't "a lot of clubs anymore". Personally, I don't trust Tim K a whole lot and take what he says with a grain of salt. But when it comes to local knowledge, he definitely has me beat. So I will take his word for it. But for the "clubs" I have been to, this didn't have a club vibe to me. It had a vibe like some of the other crowded places I have only experienced in Charleston. In that bachelor party, I was shocked at the lines outside of the bars. I was also amazed at the multi-room/multi floor bars that they had. We went to a few and they definitely had a vibe that was unique to Charleston. This seemed along that same feel as the other "clubs" I experienced. So I will now refer to them as "Charleston clubs". For a "Charleston club" it was one of the cooler ones I have been to. The bartenders were quick and it wasn't overly crowded. Which I enjoyed. The thing I didn't enjoy was that our party was cut short by pushy staff. Not sure why the place closed as early as it did. Or why people like Tim K and Scotty C took me to a place that was not staying open for long. And I also get why when it is closing, the staff has to be pushy. But for what was 5 stars while there, it definitely left a little sour taste on the way out. read more

NV has become a no brainer for my friends and I whenever we want to hang out. It's located on Market so it's a couple blocks away from King street. If you're looking to walk around and bar hop I wouldn't recommend NV but it's a great place to wrap up the night. We've gotten bottle service here multiple times and have always had wonderful service. Very friendly and thoughtful. If you need more mixers or ice or anything it's there before you know it. The VIP area is also very generous and has huge couches so it's able to accommodate even the largest of groups. The dance floor is also pretty generous and the DJ's always have great music playing. There's also a nice shared patio space with Henry's right next door and there's some bar space so you can still get served without walking back in. NV is a great place to hang out with some friends and do a little dancing. It's a great spot that's tucked away from all the King street commotion. read more

Charleston doesn't have a lot of clubs anymore. Basically they have one... And it is called NV... Hidden besides multiple layers of what one would assume is a tourist trap called Henry's Pub, is a multilevel venue. You can either enter through Henry's Pub take the stairs the Whiskey Bar where have live music, or continue going and end up at the patio entry to NV. Or go up the stairs to the rooftop. Obviously, NV has there own entry as well. As the club is mostly filled with college students, you can tell there's a lot of variety due to the different rooms. Most of the music in the club is RnB with a hint of dance music. At least it was on Friday. The service is good, on key and fast. I never had to really wait and there were plenty of bartenders available as well as waitress' in the VIP area. read more

This is one of my top choices for dancing and drinking in Charleston. The club is slightly hidden near the Moon Pie shop, or you can enter through Henry's. It is upstairs with a main dance floor, 2 bar areas, a patio, and stairs to the upper rooftop patio (connected to Henry's). The DJs are usually pretty good - weekends are definitely the best for crowds and fun dancing. I feel like this place has a good mix of people/ages, whereas sometimes if I go to upper King I feel like I'm surrounded by college students. The few things that make me give 4 stars instead of 5 is that the cover charges can be high at certain times ($10-20), they don't allow baseball caps (my boyfriend hates it for this reason alone... Who cares if you wear a hat?!), and the drinks are too pricey for what you get. I still highly recommend the place for a fun night of dancing! read more

It was cool...while exploring Charleston for food & drink I was recommended to Henrys and NV. Definitely a younger crowd, music the night I went was OK and a casual atmosphere. I'm more of a fan of the ambiance & drink/bar options. read more

Update: I have just created a Pandora station that can out perform, in every way, the weekend DJ at this establishment. This establishment continues to be a disappointing experience. 0/4 times in the last 5 months, has this nightclub been enjoyable for my wife and I. 5 stars to the "bouncer staff", "bartending staff", "wait staff" for being courteous and consistent. What made our visits so terrible consist of the following: 1) Inconsistent and absurd cover charges. I have never paid a second cover charge to go from Henry's to NV. They are the same establishment. $5 each, to get into Henry's (which was fine). Then the bouncer at the gate to NV wanted to charge another $15 each! We waited another 20 minutes or so, and it dropped to $5 each to get into NV. 2) I speak absolutely literally on this next matter. The DJ is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. This is a person who has demonstrated several times that they can neither properly transition from one song to another, but also that they cannot stay on one song for any length of time. 3) This establishment closes at 2. Not 1:40. Last call, so I'm used to, is usually between 1:30 and 1:45. The staff began trying to exit people around 1:35. Maybe they made their dollar quota for the evening, and customer services were no longer required? Sober or not, it was a pretty lousy experience overall. read more

The club was fun but the DJ tonight was absolutely awful, he was so rude and would not talk to anyone unless they were half naked.

Would give ZERO STARS if I could. The female brunette manager mckayla here is atrocious. Seriously who put this woman in charge??? She was cussing and making everyone feel unwanted and uncomfortable. Was she intoxicated? I just cannot understand why a MANAGER, someone who is the face of your business would be so rude and unprofessional to guests in your establishment. The space was rented out Thursday Feb 16th 6-10pm to film a music video. The manager was grunting and moaning because we weren't spending enough money in her opinion. It was a professional music video ....not a night out on the town keep in mind. I asked for water and others asked for sodas. She barked word.for.word that this was a waste of her f****** time and stormed off. Another bartender had to make my water and apologized. She then handed us an empty bottle of Grey Goose to use as a prop in the video, which we have on film as being handed to us as empty, then threw a hissy fit claiming it was a full bottle.... no way 10 of us could finish a magnum of Grey Goose within 10 minutes...no chasers on table and 4 cups.... just ridiculous. Everyone was sober too. She said no one could leave until that bottle was paid for when we have ON TAPE it being EMPTY to begin with. Guess she wanted $100 to make it feel like her night was worth something. We paid to shut her up. When moving the furniture back she was like a bull in a China shop. I asked where a bench belonged since someone moved it in the beginning of the shoot (I arrived 2 hours in) she barked at me "wherever the f*** you got it from" ....uh what??? Nvm. She made us all feel very uncomfortable. Will NEVER be returning unless that cow is fired. We 100% will be spreading the word on the god AWFUL verbal abuse received from this establishment. I get we all have bad days but this was a day from hell for her. Her negative energy made me feel sad for her and all her coworkers. read more

I am the director of special events for a sorority, and we had our semi formal at NV and I was very disappointed in the service I received. Entering the contract, it appeared we were getting a good deal: everything including security, photography, food, decor, and DJ. However, we did not get our money's worth. The security was way overstaffed and was kicking out guests that were not causing any problems at the drop of a hat. The 'photographer' was a man with a point and shoot SLR camera that was noticeably sitting down most of the night. The passed food and appetizers was not served throughout the night, and there was not nearly enough to feed 250 people. I understand that it can be tough serving a large group with a mix of underage and overage guests, but they were very rude to all of the guests. Needless to say, I received numerous complaints from my sorority sisters as well as their dates. I would not recommend any other college organization, particularly a fraternity or sorority, using this venue. The only redeeming quality about this event was the space itself is beautiful and spacious for large groups, which can be hard to find in downtown Charleston. But that is not enough to save the lack of quality service we received. read more

Warning I want to start this review with stating my love for Charleston, I have lived in New York City for the last 11 years and I am very familiar with how an establishment should be run, the importance of staying organized in business, and maintaining a sober brain for customers. I have always lived visiting Charleston, and have lived there. NV Dance Lounge is the poorest example of southern hospitality I have seen in my 15 years of knowing this great city. My best friend was celebrating her wedding, and reserved an area at this club to post party after her big day. I rushed to arrive to the venue quickly, to secure our reserved area, and to be sure we were ready for the 50 people that were coming after the wedding. I was met by two door people who had no reservation, and I then asked to speak with their manager. The manager arrived stumbling to the front door, and was clearly intoxicated, and on drugs. She slurred her speech, and gave me no eye contact, and proceeded to tell me there was nothing to be done, and charged us 30 dollars at the door. Trying to problem solve, I entered the club, opened a tab, and ordered the four people with me a round of drinks. When I finally saw the groom, he told me that they lost the reservation, had charged all of his friends (now arriving) cover charges, and he was extremely stressed out, and the bride was equally stressed. I spoke to someone about refunding the cover (which should have never been charged) and I was refunded, but my guess is that others were not. I asked to speak with the manager again. She stumbled over to me about 15 minutes later, moving her jaw rapidly, no eye contact, and clearly annihilated (I should also note that it was her birthday which she found to be signicantly more important than my best friends wedding day). I informed her that guests were charged covers, and told her that this was really unorganized. She finally gave me a drunken stare and said "you're out". My sister, who was standing next to me as well, trying to get to the bottom of all of these problems, was also kicked out. I was missing a day that my best friend and I had planned for months because of this woman's lack of organization and inability to correct her mistakes. She went to the bartender and said that he was not allowed to serve us. We were then escorted out by two doormen. My sister went to the restroom and when she came out, the doorman grabbed her by her hair, and threatened to push her down the stairs. She put both arms to the side of the wall and he pushed and broke three of her nails and almost pushed her down the stairs. She went to the police and filed a report on the bouncer that took these abusive, and highly risky assaults. Lastly - and very importantly, the manager did phone me to resolve this disaster, even though it was too late. I DID call him back and I left him a voicemail with my cell phone, and he never returned my call. Don't waste your time or money on this establishment read more
