First time ever being to COD father, went with a friend who's been there before. First off when you get there, there is a line about 15-20 deep prior to even opening! That should tell you something. We got in, ordered 2 fish and chips baskets, and drinks. I believe we were order 17. It took maybe 15 mins for the server to bring to us, which as busy as they were was fast! When we made it through the door, I looked out the window, and the line was still long outside! There is lots of first responder memorabilia hanging up and on display which was historical, and nice to see! The cos was delicious! The fries were great as well. 100% recommend!

I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse... CODFATHER FISH & CHIPS | Randomly stumbled upon the CODfather on Google Maps and once we saw it, we couldn't not go. And we were not disappointed. We shared an order of the World Famous Fish & Chips and also tried a chicken curry pie. The fish fillet was HUGE! Came out hot and perfectly crispy. I tried to pick it up for a photo and it was hard to touch with my bare hands because it was so hot. The chips were exactly that, chips. Well, the British kind. Comes with a flavorful and creamy tartar sauce. And the pie was perfectly flakey and seasoned perfectly. TBH I love that they just keep it simple. Definitely will be stopping by here next time I'm in Charleston!!

The fish was fantastic! They were super busy but still managed to get the food out in a timely fashion. Fish was hot and not greasy with ample portions. The batter was perfect! The ambience was fish house style with bench style tables or high tops. I will be back!

We came just for a quick meal but maybe it was a little too casual for me. They charge for water so we brought our own and they don't have plates, just give you a paper wrapped parcel of food They have a pub side and fish & chips side. We got some mushy peas and an order of fish and chips to share because we weren't super hungry. It's one large filet per order with chips aka fries & tarter sauce Tbh, their tartar sauce was my favorite part. The chips were not what I was expecting, some were overcooked and some were undercooked? Or just hard? Maybe because we came late, but I'm not sure The mushy peas were pretty good, kinda tasted like bright green mashed potatoes The fish itself ( I think it was cod) was good! The fish was soft and moist while the shell was crunchy and broke easily - great texture The restaurant had a dive bar vibe imo There was plenty of parking in the private lot which was easy to get in and out of

Managed to finally get around and try some fish n chips at Codfather! Ordering is efficient thanks to a simple menu and bold sign without frills. I got the half order of fish n chips for $12.50 and the tartar sauce $3. Nicely breaded, flaky cod plus chips were not salty at all which I appreciate. The tartar sauce is a must, the texture is coarse, not blended. Staff was busting their chops to sling orders out in a fast manner. There's a numbering system so stay alert to get your order if you're taking-out. There's plenty of seating available indoors, bar seating at the window, tables outside. Parking is plenty on the side grassy lot area. Cheers!

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Light and extremely tasteful breading, cod was so fresh and tasted amazing. Fries made fresh. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend

The food is absolutely incredible. It's a huge piece of fish and a generous portion of fries. The food came out very quickly wrapped in white butchers paper. I would definitely come here again anytime I'm in the Charleston area.

Still one of the best Fish and Chips around!! Staff is friendly and just a great place to eat.

Surprised to find a British Fish & Chippy here in Charleston. Very casual establishment with both indoor and outdoor seating. Orders are taken at the "window", a receipt is received and your order will be brought to you where you have seated yourself. Cod was fried to perfection, crispy and light, although a mild oily presence remained, but did not deter from the taste. Delicious. Add some malt vinegar to the cod and chips, amazing. Check this venue out. Recommended.

Every time I come to Charleston, my guys always take me to incredible lunch restaurants and this trip the CODfather was the place. I was advised by my local colleagues to order the fish and chips and they did the same. Great crispy fish and the fries. Good portion size too! The CODfather has been on my list for Charleston for years so I was glad to finally give it a try. Traditional English fish N chips place. I highly recommend for any seafood lovers that live or are visiting North Charleston.

When I saw the codfather advertised as world famous fish 'n' chips, my husband and I decided to give this place a try. Parking is free on the side of the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is quaint with tables on one side and a large bar on the other side. The ambiance has a pub like fill. This is a very casual restaurant. We ordered our food and waited for about 30 minutes due to an influx of customers who arrived right after us. We ordered a whole fish and chips for my husband and a half order for me. The cod was fresh and hot, and the portions were large. If you are on a diet of any type, this is not the place for you. The fried cod was fresh, and the chips were hand cut. Both fried to perfection and delicious. The food was so good yet fattening that I didn't even feel guilty. If you are in the area and want some amazing fish and chips, this is the spot to come to.

The restaurant is roomy and decorated with both English staples and salutes to local first responders. Unlike its originator they cook their fish to order so there may be a slight wait, but it is very much worth it. When I go, I like to order the Tennet's lager which is smooth and crispy and full of flavor. Instead of chips we tried the Manchester Special which are their famous chips with gravy and cheese. The gravy was rich and savory with plenty of ooey gooey cheese. Perfect on a cold winter's day! We tried the Battered Sausage which had a large smokey sausage fried golden brown. It was ok but I wished the sausage was spicier but that's just me. I have never had a Doner Kebob, but I discovered that it is basically a gyro. Now I went with the standard lamb with onions, lettuce, and tomatoes with a feta spread and tzatziki sauce, but you could also order different sauces and toppings. All in all, a pretty decent gyro with lots of meat. Finally, you can't come here and not try the fish. Nicely battered and cooked to a perfect golden brown this filet really hit the spot. We may be losing Park Circle but at least Codfather lives on in the Nexton area!

I have difficulty with steps but there were enough railings to make it navigable for me. The building was likely to have at one time been a small house. There were six of us in our party and we were initially told we would be sharing one bill and the gratuity would be automatically added. A couple of our folks expressed concern and intentionally ordered cheaper items and no drinks to make sure they had adequate funds to split the bill. Fortunately our waitress, who was a joy, did individual bills and did not put on an automatic gratuity. The policy had the potential to seriously reduce the restaurant's income. They should probably rethink this stance. As noted, our waitress was terrific and rapidly got drink and food orders sorted. The menu is pretty short, but probably a good choice for a small pub type restaurant. My wife and I both selected an on-tap local brew, both of which were good and reasonably priced. We both also selected the fish and chips. The order came with a side of cole slaw that was pleasant. The chips were obviously made on site and both properly cooked and well seasoned. We are always surprised at restaurants that serve obviously bagged and frozen fries. The fish itself was reasonably sized and nicely fried. Quite tasty, but we sort of expected good seafood as this is a sister restaurant to a local seafood establishment. For the price the portion sizes of all the meals at the table seemed just a bit small. So we will quite likely return. It's not fancy. It's not high end dining. It's a tad pricey for pub food, but overall pretty good. I note here that had our waitress not been a gem or had they enforced the one check policy, this review would have been a good deal more negative. I suspect they have an accessible entrance but it was not obvious. That may be a consideration for some and checking ahead of time would be prudent.

My sandwich was good, not a great Reuben but a good sandwich. They definitely needed to get more of the water out of the kraut before putting it on the sandwich, and it wasn't really real rye bread. But I liked it. The Brussels and burnt ends were fine but needed a lot more meat, especially for a $4 up charge over fries (and I think they were $9 menu price which is insane for a side). My kid liked his burger and fries and it honestly looked good. Service was fine, or complaints or anything amazing there. I'm usually not a fan of gussied up burgers and fries but this spot was decent and should be a four star place, but the prices were simply not OK. I could have had a whole steak from Outback for the price of a burger here. I've had much better Reubens in big cities like Chicago, NYC, and Montreal that were bigger and with better sides for less money. If I am paying $22 for a sandwich and side it needs to absolutely change my reality and I that just didn't happen here. Prices need to drop here by 25% or more to be fair. J.Ja

Takeout and delivery via Uber Eats and DoorDash are options. Hush puppies were nice and onion-y. Catfish was light and fluffy and not overly breaded and the fish flavor actually came through which I appreciate! Fried were basic crinkle cut fries, nothing special there. Fountain drinks are Pepsi products which is fine. Wings were nice and crispy, not super big but not tiny, and the buffalo sauce was good. The dining in experience could use a couple of improvements, specifically napkin holders and ketchup on the table, but I am not too mad about it given that they just opened, it's really a takeout place, and that's an easy thing to remedy. This came as a nice discovery for me as I am new to the area and still learning where the hot spots are. Inside, the restaurant feels like a traditional Irish pub: dark wood, very dim-lit, regulars pooled around the bar, weird little corners and nooks everywhere. Our server was as nice as can be. Can't go wrong with the Fried Pickles, they hit the spot and were not too breaded. Fries were great. We all ordered the Shepherd's Pie, served with a side of Irish soda bread, each $18. For what you get, I feel it's a little steep. The angus beef was seasoned and cooked beautifully, very moist and not dry at all. However, all three of our meals mostly consisted of mashed potatoes on top and an off-ratio of angus beef on the bottom. It felt unbalanced and did not have nearly enough meat, and all of us had the same experience. The potatoes were dry and not particularly impressive; I expected more from a place billed as a traditional Irish restaurant. Given that I came with two others and we all ordered the same thing, though, I didn't get to try more of their menu and I wouldn't be opposed to going back to try more items on the menu. Maybe it's just not the best thing they have.
