First time ever being to COD father, went with a friend who's been there before. First off when you get there, there is a line about 15-20 deep prior to even opening! That should tell you something. We got in, ordered 2 fish and chips baskets, and drinks. I believe we were order 17. It took maybe 15 mins for the server to bring to us, which as busy as they were was fast! When we made it through the door, I looked out the window, and the line was still long outside! There is lots of first responder memorabilia hanging up and on display which was historical, and nice to see! The cos was delicious! The fries were great as well. 100% recommend!
I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse... CODFATHER FISH & CHIPS | Randomly stumbled upon the CODfather on Google Maps and once we saw it, we couldn't not go. And we were not disappointed. We shared an order of the World Famous Fish & Chips and also tried a chicken curry pie. The fish fillet was HUGE! Came out hot and perfectly crispy. I tried to pick it up for a photo and it was hard to touch with my bare hands because it was so hot. The chips were exactly that, chips. Well, the British kind. Comes with a flavorful and creamy tartar sauce. And the pie was perfectly flakey and seasoned perfectly. TBH I love that they just keep it simple. Definitely will be stopping by here next time I'm in Charleston!!
We came just for a quick meal but maybe it was a little too casual for me. They charge for water so we brought our own and they don't have plates, just give you a paper wrapped parcel of food They have a pub side and fish & chips side. We got some mushy peas and an order of fish and chips to share because we weren't super hungry. It's one large filet per order with chips aka fries & tarter sauce Tbh, their tartar sauce was my favorite part. The chips were not what I was expecting, some were overcooked and some were undercooked? Or just hard? Maybe because we came late, but I'm not sure The mushy peas were pretty good, kinda tasted like bright green mashed potatoes The fish itself ( I think it was cod) was good! The fish was soft and moist while the shell was crunchy and broke easily - great texture The restaurant had a dive bar vibe imo There was plenty of parking in the private lot which was easy to get in and out of
The fish was fantastic! They were super busy but still managed to get the food out in a timely fashion. Fish was hot and not greasy with ample portions. The batter was perfect! The ambience was fish house style with bench style tables or high tops. I will be back!

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Light and extremely tasteful breading, cod was so fresh and tasted amazing. Fries made fresh. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend
Managed to finally get around and try some fish n chips at Codfather! Ordering is efficient thanks to a simple menu and bold sign without frills. I got the half order of fish n chips for $12.50 and the tartar sauce $3. Nicely breaded, flaky cod plus chips were not salty at all which I appreciate. The tartar sauce is a must, the texture is coarse, not blended. Staff was busting their chops to sling orders out in a fast manner. There's a numbering system so stay alert to get your order if you're taking-out. There's plenty of seating available indoors, bar seating at the window, tables outside. Parking is plenty on the side grassy lot area. Cheers!

The food is absolutely incredible. It's a huge piece of fish and a generous portion of fries. The food came out very quickly wrapped in white butchers paper. I would definitely come here again anytime I'm in the Charleston area.

Orders are taken at the "window", a receipt is received and your order will be brought to you where you have seated yourself. Cod was fried to perfection, crispy and light, although a mild oily presence remained, but did not deter from the taste. Delicious. Add some malt vinegar to the cod and chips, amazing. Check this venue out. Recommended.
Every time I come to Charleston, my guys always take me to incredible lunch restaurants and this trip the CODfather was the place. I was advised by my local colleagues to order the fish and chips and they did the same. Great crispy fish and the fries. Good portion size too! The CODfather has been on my list for Charleston for years so I was glad to finally give it a try. Traditional English fish N chips place. I highly recommend for any seafood lovers that live or are visiting North Charleston.
When I saw the codfather advertised as world famous fish 'n' chips, my husband and I decided to give this place a try. Parking is free on the side of the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is quaint with tables on one side and a large bar on the other side. The ambiance has a pub like fill. This is a very casual restaurant. We ordered our food and waited for about 30 minutes due to an influx of customers who arrived right after us. We ordered a whole fish and chips for my husband and a half order for me. The cod was fresh and hot, and the portions were large. If you are on a diet of any type, this is not the place for you. The fried cod was fresh, and the chips were hand cut. Both fried to perfection and delicious. The food was so good yet fattening that I didn't even feel guilty. If you are in the area and want some amazing fish and chips, this is the spot to come to.
Oh how I missed you! So yummy! Ordered sausage roll for the first time and the whole fish for this weekend. Quick delivery, arrived hot and delicious.

Gone but never forgotten... I'm sad that it took me so long to try them, but it was mainly do to it's proximity from my house. I love all seafood. And who doesn't like French fries? But fish & chips specifically, is not something that I ever really crave. But luckily, I had a job outing at the CODfather and it literally blew all of our minds. Even if you get a half order, it's still huge! And same can be said about the fish sandwich. I usually cut the filet in half and ate one part separately. Aside from the size, it's always cooked perfectly. Great quality meat and not overly battered. My only complaint is I wish there was more seasoning in the batter. However, to offset that, they literally have some of the best cocktail sauce and tarter sauce that I've ever had. I've only had them twice, but they managed to earn a special place in my heart. Side note, though similar, there's no affiliation with the other CODfather restaurant. read more

My birthday dinner request was the best fish n chips in Charleston. My boyfriend didn't disappoint with finding the CODfather! Absolutely the best I've ever had. It was suggested to get the curry sauce to dip, which was amazing! Every fish n chips will be compared to this for the rest of my life. Very sad to see this place has been closed so soon after we visited!! read more

Saw the name of this restaurant and knew I had to try it on my short trip to CHS. Its an homage to British pub culture in a very unexpected part of town. It has a very casual feel to it and seems like it could be a local favorite. I came right before closing on a Sunday (7PM) and they were busy filling takeaway orders. The cashier at the front was super nice and apologetic and asked if I wouldn't mind ordering at the bar so I didn't have to wait. No bother, went to order at the bar and the bartender was extremely kind and pleasant. She was helping some other folks at the bar and kept convo with them and allowed them to eat in even though they were close to closing. Overall, service seemed impeccable. Food wise, I ordered fish and chips to go. Sadly, my order was messed up and I got a double order of fish and no chips. I was slightly disappointed until I tried the fish. It was super light and flakey, super tender meat and just overall an amazing piece of fried fish. I liked the batter so much, I was eating any and all stray pieces that flew off with my bites and tears. The tartar sauce was also amazing, I'm not usually a tartar sauce person but something about their house recipe had me using the whole container! Definitely found a staple for my visits to CHS! read more

I think the atmosphere is great. They don't have a ton of inside seating, but plenty of outdoor. They have a sectioned off small bar area with TVs. I like how the restaurant is decorated. My only complaint was the fish. To me I felt the fish batter tasted off and not the best. I have only ate here once, so I have no other experience to compare it too. I am hoping it was just an off day or maybe a cooking oil issue. But besides that, I liked the place. read more

I came here because I was craving fish and chips on a cold, rainy day. I've been here a lot but hadn't visited in a few years and have to say I was shocked at how expensive it became! The quality is great still, though. The breading on the fish is so flavorful and I love that they provide vinegar for the chips. I also got a sausage roll which was really yummy! Just the price of everything made me feel like it wasn't worth the visit. I asked for an extra tartar sauce because I thought they were served in small sauce containers and it was a 3$ charge. The woman working didn't tell me that it was a good amount of sauce. I will honestly still visit here when I'm craving it because it is some of the best fish and chips in Charleston but I am a little disappointed in my trip here! read more

We were craving some fish and this place was on Ubereats with no delivery fee so I finally got to try them, and they were everything I hoped they would be. I got a curry chicken pie, an extra fish, and a big fish meal for hubby. The pie, on arrival, was very dry. I took a little bite and the flavor was very mild. I put it away to eat my fish. The fish is INCREDIBLE. Flaky, light, perfectly battered and fried. The housemade tartar sauce is amazing, as good as or better than my own. The serving is generous. The fries were good even after traveling to us. The next day, the curry chicken pie was FAR better, the crust having soaked up the goodness and relaxed a bit. I recommend saving it overnight in the fridge for best taste and texture. These folks do so much for the community beyond selling us delicious fish, and I will be a repeat customer. If you need fried fish, you need The CODfather! read more

Perfection. Crispy, flakey cod with a tangy tartar sauce. Everything was so good. Mushy peas were surprisingly yummy, and the curry and gravy were phenomenal. No notes. Quick service, kind people, clean restaurant, and lots of parking. I can't wait to come back. read more

Come for the food, stay for the vibes. Best fish and chips I have had in the United States. Crispy, light and not greasy -- also the service g is pretty darn big, enough for a couple to share for sure. The menu is simply and that's because they know why we are all here and we know as well. Order the fish chips, sit in the cozy and authentic dining area, listen to 1980s and 1990s rock/pop music and enjoy. Families, couples and people eating alone... they all come to the CODfather. read more

The small places, are often ten times better than the over advertised places. This is one of those places you DEFINITELY want to stop at, the next time you are in the Charleston, SC area. One suggestion: spread the home made Tartar sauce on the fish, and eat the fish with your hands. read more
Some of the best fish n chips I've had! The beer battered breading is fried to perfection with juicy Northern cod. They gladly substituted fries (not much of a fries person) with a salad. The tartar sauce is also homemade and you can tell right off the bat! read more
