Great breakfast spot when departing Hilton Head. Food was fresh and excellent. Service was quick. Best for small parties of 4. Bread pudding was delicious.

Found this gem through Yelp while traveling in Bluffton for a family reunion. The cafe was New Orleans themed pictures and decor all around. It was tough for me to decide what to order and I ended up getting the Cajun omelet with crawfish, and cheesy grits. Super tasty, they don't skip on the crawfish either. The grits were perfect and I contemplated getting order of it Overall a great experience!

Ugly egg burrito and cheese grits

This has to be one of the best brunch places I've been to since we moved here. It's a very small cafe with a New Orleans vibe with a nice jazzy background. The inside was great. Just a few tables with easy jazz playing and it was easy to make conversation without having to raise your voice. The service was great, they were very attentive and nice. Now to the reason we go out. The food was incredible. They have a wide selection of southern style Cajun foods and they all look and sound amazing. I picked the ugly egg burrito. It was wonderfully made and has great flavor. The presentation was top notch for a 13$ meal. It filled me up! Wife got the veggie omelette. She was very satisfied. She even tried some of my cheese grits for the first time and they were great! I can't recommend this place enough. It's small tho so call ahead or go early.

Sorry we missed River Road Cafe. We stopped in after vacationing in Hilton Head! They were closed for a break from June 26 until July 2nd.

The food here is great. It's a small dining area but worth the wait. We've been here for breakfast and never been disappointed.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

We came for the music, and it absolutely delivered but so did everything else. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed and encouraged to slow down, relax, and truly enjoy the experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was exceptional, and the entire evening felt special. I ordered the Duke Ellington ribeye, and without exaggeration, it was the best ribeye I have ever eaten. As ridiculous as it may sound, time seemed to stop for a moment. Every bite was packed with flavor that hit something deep inside me and took me back to simpler times. It was one of those rare meals that becomes a memory. The experience was so good it almost brought a tear to my eye. Not because it was fancy or expensive, but because the level of care, craftsmanship, and excellence put into that meal was something truly special. My wife ordered the pasta primavera and she described it as simple, light, but packed with flavor. We stayed for hours vibing to the incredible musicianship displayed. The warmth of the staff felt like family. Wish we were local so we could make this a regular date night spot. Thank you for an unforgettable evening. We'll be talking about it for a long time.

We paid for it as every person in the party had to pay $10.99 to listen. No one expected that. The service by our host, Hannah, was excellent! Hannah was friendly and attentive. My party shared mixed feelings about the food. The lemon pepper wings were tasteless - not your traditional lemon pepper rub. The collard greens unfortunately, tasted more like vinegar. The jambalaya was very good - seasoned very well. The chicken & waffles were really good, too! Lots of food and very flavorful. I'll always try a restaurant twice. Looking forward to my next visit.

The location itself is absolutely beautiful, sitting right on the water with an enormous amount of outdoor seating. We decided to sit inside at the bar, which had huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water, and we were even lucky enough to spot a couple of dolphins playing nearby. The first thing I noticed when we sat down was the massive selection of oysters displayed on ice. Even better, it was happy hour and all oysters were half off, so naturally I ordered a dozen and let the bartender choose the best ones for me. Every single one was fresh and delicious. We also shared a she-crab soup that was packed with flavor and had the perfect texture. Earlier in the trip we had ordered she-crab soup somewhere else and it was watery and disappointing, so this one definitely made up for it. The restaurant was pretty quiet during the daytime, although the bartender mentioned it gets much busier at night. Before leaving, we walked outside along the dockside of the building toward the front and saw the massive covered outdoor seating area overlooking the water. It definitely feels like the kind of place that comes alive at night, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have live music as well. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area.

Nothing we ordered really stood out. I know it's called the Old Oyster Factory, but we didn't order any. We mainly in because it was on the Island Bucks list. The fried green tomatoes had a good flavor, though the plate looked sparse with only three pieces. A fourth would have made the dish seem more complete. The flounder sandwich was under-seasoned and the "fresh fruit" did not live up to its name. The calamari came as small rings that were kind of chewy rather than crisp. Although not a lump crab crab cake it was mostly crab and had a good flavor. It was served with a scoop of potatoes and broccolini. The broccolini was very limp and had absolutely no flavor. We heard it's a great place to catch the sunset, but based on our meal, we would more than likely not visit again.
