No "we're about to close" energy, which I appreciated. We started with the creamy collard dip, which is basically their take on spinach-artichoke dip, but with collards. Really good. I do think the chips were a little too heavy for the dip--a thinner chip would've been perfect--but that's a small note. The chicken pancake tacos were probably my favorite. The chicken was fried perfectly and still really moist. And at this point, I'm convinced Savannah just knows how to cook chicken. Everywhere we went, the chicken was consistently good. My partner got the grilled apple pie sandwich, which has fried chicken, grilled apples and bacon. He's not even a big pork person, but that bacon was so crispy and the whole combination just worked. Even the waffle fries were good--crispy, fresh and actually seasoned. We had the Grateful Dead and Wicked Kiwi cocktails, plus a couple of shots, and the drinks were strong, good and reasonably priced. Honestly, I don't have a ton of notes here. I requested Rylee as my server. I met her when I had lunch this past year. Rylee is certainly one of the best servers I have ever had. Her recommendations were on point and I cannot say enough about her professionalism, friendly demeanor and menu knowledge. The short rib dish was beyond what I expected and absolutely delicious! Hands down, one of the best meals I have ever had! I also decided to get the flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was so yummy! I will definitely be back. She was attentive - even while taking care of what seemed like was the entire bar area. Friendly and knew her stuff. Her cocktails were balanced and though they didn't really pair with my food, I enjoyed them anyway. Food. See pics. Went with deviled eggs, tomato soup and mushroom gnocchi. Simple. Tasty and I'd have them again. Capped the night with a crunch cake (? - don't remember the name) and left feeling great having had a simple, but delicious meal in a lively fun gathering spot. We started with the mozzarella nuggets and disco fries. The mozzarella nuggets were some of the best I've had. Fresh cuts of mozzarella with this really thin, crispy, almost chicken-fried batter, so you actually get a good bite of CHEESE instead of mostly breading. They came with a chunky, fresh-tasting tomato marinara that worked really well with them. Then there were the disco fries. I'm just going to say it--they did not look good. Mushroom gravy and dollops of pimento cheese over fries is apparently not the most photogenic combination. But they were DELICIOUS. The fries stayed crispy under the gravy, and those little bites of pimento cheese were perfect with it. I'd zhuzh up the presentation a bit, but I wouldn't change much else. Now, back to these catfish and grits. The catfish comes over grits with a chorizo gravy, and when we first saw it, we thought there was no way the fish was going to stay crispy sitting in gravy. We were wrong. The batter was thin and perfectly crisp, the fish was cooked beautifully, and when you got the catfish, grits and chorizo gravy together in one bite? That was it. I'm personally not an over-easy egg person, but I understand why it's there because the dish needs that moisture. Without it, it's really short rib, potatoes and eggs. I think some type of gravy or sauce would round everything out and take it to the next level. Still good, still fresh--just missing that one thing for me. The chicken and waffles around the table got good reviews too, and for drinks we had the Pep Talk, peach and blueberry sangria, and mimosas with fresh-squeezed orange juice.
