The cashier could tell it was our first time and she let us try everything from their ready to eat counter! The seasoning is ON POINT! flavorful, spicy, garlicky and delicious! We tried to conch, peeled shrimp, shell on shrimp, egg, green mussels, and black mussels! They were out of the garlic blue crabs. We ended up going with the snow crab boil and it was SOOO good! The price was also extremely reasonable for the quantity of food. We got a Large boil for the two of us to share and we still had leftovers. I have been to the Atlanta location (I'm not sure if it's the same owner or chain) but this is definitely the OG and much much better than the Atlanta location. This place is a MUST try! Sadly, my favorite crab spot was closed during my visit to Savannah, but my lovely Yelp app helped me find David's Crab House. If you're not paying attention, you'll definitely miss the location. The wait was short to order. When I got up to order, the owner asked if I had been to the location before. He was thrilled to know I was a first time customer. He gave me a sample plate of all the yummy seafood he had. He let me try the conch, shrimp, crawfish, and crab to help me make my decision. I think this a super nice gesture, and showed the owner took pride in what he was selling. With all the choices, I decided on the snow crab loaded with butter and seasoning. The only thing that was a bummer is that they don't warm up the plates anymore post Covid, and the hotel I was staying at only had a microwave downstairs. I am so happy I found David's crab house via google prior to my trip to Savannah. Stopping here was probable the highlight of our visit. You do have to drive here as it's a bit far from the main city, but it is well worth the ride. It's located in a neighborhood and it would be easy to miss, but thankfully it's on the corner. When we walked in, David was at the cash register. He instantly knew we had never been there. When we confirmed that, he proceeded to let us try a sample of all the different seafood he has. Everything was SO good! I highly recommend getting what you want in the garlic sauce. We got the low country boil, which comes with sausages, shrimp, potatoes, and corn. We also got an order of his crabs AND a hard boiled egg. Everything was amazing and it only cost us $50. That is unheard of in Southern California. Drive up and watch out for the Main Street for cars. Situated across the street from a hair/beauty supply and hectic in general. Upon entering we were met with a crowd of people waiting for their food. Fortunately we got in line and were offered samples of the spicy shrimp and the garlic dungeonous crab legs. We've lived in Savannah for 1.5 years and an out-of-towner who was visiting told us we *had* to go to David's Crab House. He said that David was very friendly and would give free samples of the food before we purchased. We were told that the shrimp had a secret hot sauce recipe, which I immediately recognized as gochujang. Turns out that David's wife is Korean and we had accidentally stumbled upon the best Korean restaurant in Savannah (excluding the shrimp, which was just shrimp and gochujang, let's be real...). Apparently David's wife uses a recipe that was handed down from her grandmother in Korea for the garlic crabs (our favorite). My in-laws (seafood snobs) came into to town and we ordered 1 pound of garlic crabs per person. According to them, it was the best meal they had in Savannah, soul satisfying after a long trip. Summary: Highly recommend. While clearly not advertised as such, this is the best Korean food in town, and along with Tricks BBQ, our go to for take-out in Savannah. read more

WHAT, this neighborhood place is super good and crazy cheap, with really nice people working. I got the Large Lowcountry Boil (because surely, the Small at such a price wouldn't be enough...), and I easily have enough food for two (maybe THREE) meals. Things to note: There is no seating inside- this is strictly a to-go place. The boil came plain and they show it to you and ask if you want seasoning or hot sauce and add it right there. This is my absolute favorite place to get garlic crabs in savannah. I go there for crabs shrimp and conch. These items are offered all precooked or raw. They are a seafood market so their are other things to choose from. But this is the go to place for my family and friends. I've Never b een disappointed. Some of us live in about 2 hours away. And although we have family in savannah we will sometimes make a trip just for David's. And FYI their is another place on this street also called David's Cha. When I come back home I always have to come to David's crab and bring some seafood back with me. The crabs are fresh and always packed with meat. I have not been disappointed with the quality of food here. I would say though, I do not like the fact that they are now charging $2 for the oil remnants they soak the crabs in. I mean all they are going to do is throw it away. The parking is not great and the neighborhood is sketchy but isn't that were most of the good food spots are? David's is not a huge restaurant; there are no seats and parking is along the street. But don't let that deter you. The flavor and customer service make up for it. When I walked in, I think they must have known I was from out of town. I stared at the menu, and someone asked if I had ever been there before. I think this was "David." David gave me samples of the various crab legs and some of the seafood salad. I decided on a pound of steamed crab legs and corn. My total with the cracker was less than $25. The prices can't be beat. I would spend more than $25 at a seafood restaurant in Atlanta. David even told me that they have a second location on Lawrenceville Highway. So this place is highly recommended by my mom for their garlic crab we got there too early so we had to wait an hour so we hit another spot the seafood shack (check for that review). It's a really small place in a dark area of the city no room for dining in so get it and go. The customer service was cool. I didn't get a pic of the menu but they have steamed seafood blue crab, snow crab, shrimp, conch, oysters crab fried rice, potatoes etc we got the garlic crab and shrimp and let me tell you it was some mmmmmmm good eating. The shrimp are shell on I usually don't eat those but this time I went in the sauce they use is sweet garlicky but it has a nice subtle kick at the end the crab meat was sweet and fresh the shells were steamed so bite and suck lol I definitely recommend this spot. Few things to note: This restaurant offers TAKE OUT. It is not a dine in restaurant. Parking, has also been a challenge. I parked on the side of the road during every visit.
