    Monte Cristo with potatoes

Stumbled upon this great place while camping at Skidaway in Savannah. Cute inside with mixed variety of table and chairs. I had the western omelet that came with a tasty biscuit and Irish cheddar grits. Very yummy. My husband had their take on a Monte Cristo. Thick bread, grilled deli ham, Swiss cheese and jam. Dipped in French toast batter and pan grilled. We loved it! Service was very good. We were there for brunch which ended at 2 (we arrived at 1). Many arrived after us. Definitely recommend if you're in the area

This was a great carribean meal on our first night in Savannah visiting friends. It's a cute little spot and they're serving up jerk chicken and all your favorite carribean flavors. The carribean bruschetta and the friend shrimp were our favorite appetizers. The tartar sauce with the fried shrimp was incredible. I shared the PONCE de Leon and the hot mama with a friend and the flavors of the hot mama were my favorite. The lights were very dim inside and it made it kind of hard to see but maybe they were setting the mood. The staff was kind and food was paced nicely.

What a cute restaurant, in my town. Me and my daughter came for brunch and ordered from their brunch menu. I had a simple breakfast with oj and my daughter had the jerk BLT. I was completely satisfied with my meal everything was cooked perfectly. My daughter said her sandwich was very delicious but could be a bit more spicy (jerk style). All in all the service was friendly and the food didn't take long either. Would definitely come back to try the other interesting options. Loved it

Big Breakfast with homemade andouille sausage

You'll find a laid back, coastal, flip flop vibe with plenty of loyal customers at Tortuga's. Artwork of marine life and Caribbean Island scenes adorn the walls and are priced "For Sale". I opted for the Big Breakfast because it offered a variety of items, and it was recommended by a table of locals sitting nearby. The andouille sausage, made in house, was delish! The eggs were cooked as ordered, the biscuit was tender and hefty, and the coarse ground grits, topped with optional pepper jack cheese, were delish. The Big Breakfast also comes with a choice of pancakes or French toast. The option of Texas toast, French Toast with their homemade praline pecan topping was quite tasty! Always on the ready for fried shrimp, my daughter and I enjoyed a side of their lightly coated, crispy fried shrimp. I would certainly return just for the fried shrimp! Their homemade tartar sauce was very good, and I appreciated the lumps of horseradish, served on top of the ketchup, so that you could blend your desired amount. They sell beer, wine, have boozy brunch cocktails, and additional outdoor patio dining at their entrance.

This was the perfect spot for a local lunch! The food was fresh and seasoned uniquely. I had a Caesar salad with The fresh catch, jerk style. He had an andouille sausage Philly cheesesteak with in house made sausage. Our bloody Mary's were made with Soke. Oh my!!!! I could eat here everyday!

This is right along the river in Thunderbolt. My group of 6 rolled in for brunch right at 10 or so. There was plenty of seating available, indoors and out. We opted to stay inside where it was nice and cool. The food was great. The asiago on the grits was good, though cheddar was also. The french toast was far and away the best dish. Everyone in the group wanted to try some and said it was great. Though everything else we got (omelettes, sandwiches, etc) was really good. They state they are a little understaffed, but our server was always there when needed. Though our food wasn't all ready at exactly the same time. For a small restaurant and the group we had, not an issue. Especially since some of it was the server needing to make a second trip anyway.

    Menu and misspelled artwork

This place has lots of potential. Four of us arrived for a early dinner at about 6:30. The location is easy to get to and there's parking nearby. There's plenty of tables inside and the artwork on the walls is nice (except that they misspelled the name of their town- see picture). There was no effort to decorate the tables and the silverware was wrapped in paper napkins. They just don't have their act together at all. They had a decent beer list and a few wines but they don't have a liquor license and that's just slack. Their prices are high and the silly way the prices are presented impacted my decision. For example, their blackened pasta dish was $16.95 but the added protein was absurdly expensive ($13 for chicken, $16 for shrimp, & $21 for grouper). I got the pasta with no protein and it was pretty good. My wife's salad was ordered with dressing on the side and of course they dumped it on the salad and the waitress didn't catch it and delivered it that way. The service was fair, but she didn't know the specials and she didn't really know the menu. Overall I was quite disappointed and I doubt we will go back.

    The "big" breakfast... comforting food!

Best brunch in Savannah. Very creative daily special items on the menu. Never been disappointed in any meal or part of a meal here.

This is definitely a takeout spot, with two table tops and a small waiting area and front counter. However, this small place packs a big punch! They have a pretty extensive menu, which includes of variety of both jerk and Curry options as well as oxtails. They also have patties and several desserts. I ended up ordering the combo curry goat and oxtail platter with rice and peas, plantains and then a beef Patty and a slice of Red Velvet cake. I thought the food was really well done, well, seasoned, and excellent in terms of quality and quality. The patties were equally authentic and had the adequate amount of meat filling you would want. The only criticism was the red velvet, which I didn't think was legitimate Red Velvet, but rather red cake mix with a cream cheese icing. That being said, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't authentic Red Velvet. Service was also prompt and helpful with no more than a 7 to 8 minute weight from start to finish. Overall, I would definitely rate this as one of the better restaurants I have had a chance to enjoy in Savannah so far. Looking forward to another visit!

Both times I got my food to go, and was in and out pretty quickly. The homemade tropical punch is so good! If ordering a "made to order" menu item, expect to wait about 15 minutes. The curry shrimp is one of those items and I was not disappointed. My friend also got curry goat and the pork chop and both were SO GOOD! As always, I do wish they have more meat, but this is something I'm used to from Caribbean restaurants. BUT- they have all things on the menu when I went in, something that doesn't always happen at the Caribbean joints I'm used to. I decided to go with the brown stew fish with rice and peas and mac and cheese as my side. My friend ordered the turkey wings with white rice and sweet green peas. There was a small seating area adjacent to the ordering area, so we sat there while waiting for our food to be done. It took a little longer than expected, but the food was definitely worth the wait. The fish was very flavorful and was packed with onions and peppers. The rice and peas paired well with the fish and sauce. The mac and cheese was just okay. Island Breeze can be difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area. Located on Montgomery Street next door to BoBo's seafood and across the street from an auto body shop. The customer service is good but as a native New Yorker I expect a little attitude from all Carribean restaurants, that's how I know the food is going to be amazing. Haha. I don't get attitude from anyone here but I've called in orders before and the person has definitely been short with me. Again, not a negative because the food is bomb. The inside is small so not made for a crowd. I tend to order my food and then wait in my car or order ahead so the food is ready when I arrive. We made a reservation and when we arrived, were seated immediately. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was beautiful and very comfy. We liked the vibe very much. So far, we are thinking this is going to be a 5 star experience. Unfortunately the wine we ordered is no longer being served so we had to pivot to a different one. Which was fine. So, onto the food. My hubby is not as adventurous as I am in terms of trying new foods. He decided to play it safe. We started with the cornbread. It was served in a small cast iron skillet with butter and jam. The cornbread & jam was good. The butter was a bit odd. It was a whipped/fluffy consistency but the flavor was lacking. Honestly, it sort of reminded me more of old school Crisco from a can than a nice whipped butter. Hubs decided to get the ceaser with cabbage and the Mac & cheese. I ordered the cashew curry & Carolina Gold rice. Hubs absolutely loved his salad. He said it was the most flavorful salad he ever had. I am not a fan of cabbage but I tasted it and he is right, the flavor was unbelievably good. This was the best thing we tasted on our visit. I also tried a bite of his Mac & cheese and it was not something I would order here. I got an overwhelming taste of onion, which is not my favorite thing. Hubs thought it was ok, but not the best he's tasted. I was very excited to try the cashew curry. Unfortunately, it fell flat of my expectations. I expected a complex flavor profile with lots of layers. I got the earthiness & umami. But not much else. The veggies were good. But the lobster was chewy/rubbery in texture. I added Carolina Gold rice and it was ok, but sort of consistency of day old rice without a lot of flavor. It was very filling though, so we skipped dessert. Overall, service was 4 or 5 stars but the food (other than the salad) just fell a little flat for us. Not sure if we caught them on an off night food-wise.
