Do you ever just put off mandatory training for work to write an (urgent, duh) Yelp review? Me neither; never done it (eyes avoiding contact). The headliner here is the owners and staff of WSB really pay attention to detail and show great pride in what they do! Bravo! The fresh cut (real!) roses at every table were a nice touch. Yes, each member of our family did a mini iPhone photo shoot by those pretty pink and yellow centerpieces. While there is no dedicated kids' menu here, our waitress had a few recommendations, and we ordered the baked mac 'n cheese and ham and croissant sandwich for the kiddos. Both were fresh and plentiful. I had a satisfying tuna melt with onion rings (that ended up getting traded for the uncoveted side salad that came with my 6yo's ham croissant). My husband enjoyed the pickled okra (surprise!) that came with the deviled eggs, and he inhaled (faster than usual) his French dip sandwich. I wish I had saved room for dessert! The case had offerings like red velvet cupcakes, key lime poundcake, and coconut cake slices. Drool, drool, and triple drool. On the walls are also prize ribbons and articles about one of the staff's show corgis! So fun and congratulations! Thanks again to Yelp for putting this Savannah gem on our radar. A delightful meal! Upon arrival there was a fresh bouquet of roses on each table. Soft music played for our Saturday evening dinner. We ordered the minestrone soup and pork chop. Both were excellently prepared. The staff we very kind and attentive. They even brought us a slice of fresh peach pie because it was right out of the oven and we hadn't even ordered dessert. Wright Square Bistro is a charming, French-inspired bistro serving absolutely delicious quiches, salads, and sandwiches. One of my personal favorites is the meatloaf sandwich--bacon-wrapped meatloaf with cheddar cheese and a special sauce on country bread. So delicious! I was actually planning to visit another restaurant a few blocks away, but this one was closer to where I parked, so I just ate here. The Cafe has a small lunch menu of salads, sandwiches and apps. The space near the front entrance has a counter display with chocolates and other desserts. A few items looked good on the menu, but I ended up going with the meatloaf sandwich, which sounded unique and the waiter said its filling. It tasted good initially, as it is visually daunting due to its thick stature. Very hard to eat without cutting it in half. When I did that and took the 2nd bite, I noticed the inside was cold but outside was warm to melt the cheese. It's supposed to be completely warm of course, so for that I am deducting a star. It comes with potato chips, nothing special there. Overall for the price, I thought it was a 2/5 They have several different types of desserts, including chocolates, bars, cakes and a brownie. All are supposedly homemade by a local lady. I was going to order dessert anyway, but since my entree was cold in the middle, I was a comped a brownie and took this back to the hotel. I've eaten a ton of brownies all over the US and was extremely dissapointed in this one. I felt it was very basic and didn't seem to contain any exotic or high quality ingredients. To me, it seems like a teenager made it instead of a local town lady. In summary, I am sure other entrees are awesome, but I just happened to come on a bad day. read more

The sidewalk chalkboard beckoned us in with a $5 Blood Orange Mimosa, so in we went. Cute little shop with a dining area, and counter service. The guy behind the counter was quick to give us his attention but seemed deflated that we were not eating so our drinks were just plopped on the counter with no care given to presentation. * The "blood orange mimosa" was a small plastic cup of Prosecco with the juice frozen into a cube, so we had to wait for it to melt for any taste. * The peach Bellini was a semi frozen chunk of peach likewise dropped in a small cup of Prosecco with no discernible nectar or juice to help flavor it. I'd never tried marzipan (which looked really good!) so I ordered one, and was handed a cute little banana. I don't believe in coincidence however I do believe in happy accidents, and this one was prime. We planned to visit another Yelp location but could not locate a parking spot anywhere nearby. Lucky for us this gem has its own parking lot. Score You enter what looks to be just a counter cafe, yet after receiving a kind greeting you are led into a very light and airy room with small tables and side booths. See photos. Luca, our server was just stellar. After seating us he came back a few moments later introduced himself and took our drink order. Returning fairly quickly we ordered the flounder fish and chips and the bacon wrapped meatloaf sans the cheddar cheese. I also wanted to try the homemade onion rings, and the meatloaf came with homemade potatoes chips I also wanted to sample. Score again! The meatloaf was tender, and the bacon savoury. I took one slice of bread off, preferring a more open sandwich style. The chips were fantastically crunchy with perfect seasoning. The onion rings; some of the freshest and beautifully battered I could ever hope to enjoy. One of the owners, Todd, came out to enquire how we liked the food, and also serve us while Luca was busy, and regale us with tails of his championship corgi's he and his partner have shown and bred. I told him how much we enjoyed the food and also as West Coasters we have recently discovered the Atlantic flounder which makes for tasty eating. Todd told us his comes mostly from Florida. I mustn't forget how my husband spied the lime pound cake in the front as you walk in. So glad we ordered it. Not only an interesting green color but also comes with tasty fresh black berries on the side. Plenty to share. Don't be fooled by the outside of the restaurant which rather looks like a bar or a pub. Nice people and space but the food was mediocre to both me and my husband. Had the Waldorf salad and the deviled eggs. He had chicken pasta salad. Chicken was overcooked. Salad came with roasted fruit which was a full (not ripe?) apple and pear cut in half and barely fitting on the plate. When I expressed difficulty cutting the fruit with a table knife, they took it back to the kitchen and cut it for me and added some greens and it came back improved. A bite of candied pecan, greens, with goat cheese and a sliver of pear was delicious. read more

Since we were starving and couldn't find anything near by we decided to dine in. To our surprise, we turn the corner to a lovely dining area. Fit with quaint wooden tables and rustic blue chairs. and a very welcoming and whimsical ambiance overall. But to our concern, no one was in the restaurant.. We received our menus and took a look, i got the croissant with egg, cheese, and bacon. With an added side salad. My partner got the turkey BLT. and oh my god, we were speechless. I was expecting an egg on a croissant, and some lettuce on the side. but my god was i so far off, the most beautifully presented meal i have had, and along with the taste. I mean so fresh, delicate, simple but thoughtful, and overall extremely worth the cost. I will forever be making a stop here for a lovely meal, and fantastic service when i stop in savannah. I really, truly recommend if you come by here to make a stop and enjoy such lovely and well thought out food. The Bistro has a frequently changing dinner menu and what lured me in this past weekend was the duck confit. It met all of my hopes, tasty and beautifully cooked, and served on an orange carrot puree with roasted root vegetables. They have a small but select wine list of well priced French wines... I had the rose and was pleased. The staff is young and enthusiastic and seemed happy to be there, not just waiting for the night to end. My only mistake of the evening was skipping dessert; I passed them when leaving and they all looked inviting. Next time for sure. I'll certainly be back. read more

Wow! What a fabulous lunch we had at this charming bistro! Family of 4 (2 kids under 18) all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the lovely owners (ask them about their corgis!). Husband and I had the mimosas, and they were unique and delicious! Three of us had different option versions of the grilled cheese and LOVED them and I had the salad with the delicious Vidalia onion dressing (buy a bottle to take home!). Fabulous! This was the best find after too long of a line @ The Collins. We had the bacon glazed meatloaf sandwich, Brunswick stew, and a spiked coffee for lunch. This was followed by the lemon bar & pecan bar back at our hotel. The pecan bar was so delicious that we came back the next day for $45 worth of seconds! The owner not only was wonderful and welcoming but took pity on us when our car got towed. Btw don't park in the parking lot next door except for the three specifically marked parking spots!! Wish I could give this place 100 stars out of 5! The food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. Talk about stellar! We ordered deviled eggs for our appetizer which were cooked perfectly. Lots of flavor and no green eggs. They even had a beet egg which was very unique. For the food, I got a delish chicken salad sandwich with their house made potato chips and my boyfriend got a grilled cheese, house made fries, and tomato soup. Everything was so FRESH! They fries were the perfect texture and I loved the salt flakes on there. Best grilled cheese ever too. So much flavor and the pepper jack cheese actually tasted like it had spice. Then we had a melt in your mouth amazing lemon bar with berries. I don't think I've had a better lemon bar. I had some questions about Lottie Lees Deep Dish Pie , an lo and behold Tod had just pulled one out of the oven and showed me how it looked and how he made it . Of course I ordered that , with a side salad topped with house made sweet onion and pepper dressing . I couldn't have been happier , the egg pie had a deep flavor and almost creamy texture . Talk about a hidden gem... OMG! The menu was not expansive, but there were plenty of selections to satisfy everyone in our party of 5 adults. The calamari was wonderful...5 . The fried okra basket was fabulous... 4 .(she won't do okra). The side(?) salads were fresh and delicious and meal size... 5 . The entrees were just humongous... the meatloaf was incredible... 3. The shrimp ravioli was scrumptious... 1. The steak was stupendous... 1. The deserts were to die for... the key lime pound cake screamed "more,",as did the pineapple upside down cake. The lemon and blueberry bars cried "take me home", so we did. The ambiance was charming, classy, personal,quiet, and low key. The owner was delightful and told us where everything was sourced from, and noted his Corghi pics and awards. The service was impeccable. We stumbled on Wright Square Bistro after learning of a 45 minute wait elsewhere with no seating for a disabled person in our group.. WSB will be 1st on our wish list after this outing.
