Four of us came in a few Sundays around noon for brunch. I told the young woman at the desk that there were 4 of us, outside dining only. It was a pleasant day & we knew we'd have to wait, but we were engrossed in our conversations and didn't mind. After about 45 minutes another employee, an older woman came by & said they were trying to get us a table indoors. I explained that because of Covid, I was not comfortable dining indoors. Her reply? "That's a shame". She then proceeded to tell us that we were bothering the other customers by waiting. We had been patiently standing to the side of the door, out of the way of their servers and customers coming out & in, there was no other place to stand. We weren't really paying any attention to the seated guests as again, we were engrossed in our own conversations. When we were told we were bothering your guests I told her we'd go somewhere else but at that moment a table opened up and we stayed. The food was good and  the waitress gave us good service. But two points: 1). During this health pandemic no one should be judging or shaming anyone over the parameters they live with to stay safe. My doctor is on the NIH's Covid panel & has stated that we are unmasking far too soon and that another wave is coming. No customer should be judged by their staff on how we protect our own health. It was uncalled for and completely inappropriate. 2). If their employee truly believed we were bothering their seated customers, a far better way to have handled it would have been to direct us to another area to wait. And maybe even offer to open a tab so we could have had drinks while waiting. Again, her behavior and comments were completely inappropriate. We came with a La Quinta resident who has been a regular customer, but he was so disturbed by how we were treated, he's not sure he'll return. I live in Rancho Mirage and know that I would not choose to drive out to your restaurant again. I did reach out to the restaurant with my concerns. Their response? Crickets chirping. read more

Unfortunately, this may have been our last time here. As a year round resident we have supported this artisan restaurant on many occasions. This weeks trip left me sour, because of how expensive the selections have become. I ordered green Chile Omelette that is now 21 smackers, note this is a 3 eggs baked not sautéed, with roasted green Ortega Chile (not hatch) small amount of applewood bacon, menu said has queso oxaxca, didn't note this ingredient and a large helping of arugula. Plated along small side bowl of fresh pretty good salsa which was needed on the mostly boring omelette. Note this selection is sold as described, there are not any sides, beans, rise or papas. 21$ I'd expect to pay this price poolside or on a beach boardwalk, not in a commercial business center. My wife had the vegan bowl, plentiful also 21$ service was good. Almost forgot glass of icetea 5$ Bottom line, prices just seem expensive for what's offered, there only 4 stars read more

We saw this on DDD and it was ok, not great. The pina colada loaf looked amazing and it was moist, but had virtually no taste. The green chili quesadilla looked amazing, but I'd actually like to try it not breaded. The breading and deep frying made it heavy and didn't balance out in taste to me. I can't write this review fast enough. I had to put down my fork to do so. This is HANDS DOWN...the BEST EATING EXPERIENCE my wife and I have EVER HAD!! Vertarias (our waiter) was great!!! The Fritters (get em)...almost brought a tear to my eye...so crispy and perfect. Wife had the Harvest salad and added the Rosemary lemon chicken...she said she would eat that everyday. We also ordered the Chula Bowl (sweet potato and house-made chorizo, egg)....BRO!!!! We also got the Fish tacos...delish. Hard to fairly rate it compared to the previous things they served us! We got there in time for happy hour (Fri at 3p). Their Sangria is strong and delicious (wife says). They had a guitar duo here as well (found out they're called "Avenida")...they were so perfect for this place...even alone, I could listen to these 2 talented dudes all day...amazing voices, licks, perfect volume, great song selection, and just was perfect! Good for a festive happy hour - they support local artists by inviting them to perform live music Friday and Saturday afternoons and the entire menu is $2 off - including all drinks! They have a cute curated Mercado (market) where there are colorful artisan gifts for purchase, as well as a bakery section with delicious cakes and pastries (and churros!). Many selections are vegan :). I just started spending more time in the area again (lived in San Francisco for almost a decade and am now in the desert part-time) and it is awesome to find a place like this with an emphasis on artisan and sustainable foods + entertainment. A friend of mine raved about this Eatery, Vegan and gluten free. Seating and atmosphere was perfect! We were greeted with a big smile. My friend was looking forward to their french press coffee served at the table so she ordered it with our meal. Unfortunately our waiter had other plans :(. He brought us two cups of coffee (no french press) she politely asked about the french press and he stated that the coffee was made and it was much faster to serve so no press for us!! :( Today was the last day before closing for the summer so I wondered if maybe our waiter skipped a few services to make his last day a bit smoother?? I originally posted a review for this restaurant and it was a big mistake. I realize that after the owner contacted me and I did a little bit of research. I have not tried this restaurant, however I'm giving it a five star rating based on the communication and service that I was provided by the owner. I made the mistake, yet the owner apologized for the experience that she brought to my attention, may have been for the wrong restaurant. She was correct, I admittedly Made a mistake but I can truly say that I value the time the owner took to read the review, do the research to see if I was on the waiting list, and replied back to me. That says a lot about the owner. Also the response was apologetic and very kind. I Appreciate and value this type of commitment to quality of service. And yes, I will try the restaurant because of the high ratings that it has. If anybody has to apologize, it is myself for not paying attention of what I was posting. Came here on a Saturday in October. I had the soup offering of the day. Chicken pozole she said. When they brought it out it looked great. Plated with a small cup of cilantro, diced onions, and a couple lime wedges. And the kicker? Homemade/handmade corn tortillas. The soup was generously portioned with shredded chicken and maiz. I took a sip before adding everything and BAM! Sour salty savory goodness slapped me right in the mouth! The overall pozole-ness was unique compared to what I was accustomed to. The one thing I yearned for to accompany that slap was a kick of spice which wasn't there. But honestly it was so flavorful it could do without for most people. And granted the style of eatery I wasn't expecting a blaze. But I asked if they had any chiles and they brought me a fat sliced raw jalapeño that paired nicely in the soup. My companions ordered the chorizo frittata, chilaquiles, and huevos rancheros. They appeared to be skillfully (and beautifully) plated by an artist, though I cannot speak on their flavors (they weren't mine!) - Awesome pozole a ton of flavor and character! - will return Overall great place open seasonally I found. Holy Crap! We are so lucky to have stumbled on this place. It just reopened yesterday! Hands down one of the best meals I've had a in a while. The chicken pozole and chilaquiles took me back to Mexico, so tasty and full of flavor. My wife had the scone and green chile Mac and cheese; which of course I tried. Also very good. I stumbled upon this hidden gem in a medical plaza, of all places - and boy what a real find! I wasn't looking for a place to eat, but after seeing a couple pass the obvious restaurant to go here, I thought I'd check it out. Immediately, the bright, cheery atmosphere really pulled me in. The casual vibe, inviting decor and pastry counter made me want to investigate further. But the real hook for me was posters of the beautiful food. I was immediately drawn to the images of huevos rancheros and tamales - vibrant images calling to me! Surely I must be hungry? Since my husband was home, I ordered a tamale to take home to try. While waiting, I noticed a wonderful display of fresh scones and muffins and ordered a bacon and cheese scone along with the tamale, vowing to come back for their chilequiles and huevos rancheros. When I got home, I discovered a container of salsa roja for the tamale, which was superb! I knew this was the real deal that had to be house made. The scone was so delicious and fresh - and it turns out, very popular! So today, we came back for the chilequiles. I've been searching for good crispy ones ever since we moved to Indio a couple of years ago, and these have been the best by far! Salsa roja, pulled pork and a poached egg on chips - YES! The manager Alice was very friendly, and we briefly talked food and travel, and were so surprised when we asked about the bread pudding written up on one of the boards, and she brought us a deliciously warm piece topped with some warm fresh blueberry compote on the house! I also have to commend the sou chef Salvador's sauces and flavors - so delicious, I could have licked the bowl clean! Can't wait to come back to try the huevos rancheros on nopal tostadas next time! The food is great when they get it right, ever since Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives the quality of service has extremely declined. The waiter service lacks follow through & attention to detail, seems inexperienced and unable to deliver good customer service. Great new local spot. I almost alway love farm-to-table places and this place (for the most part) doesn't disappoint. First of all, let's start with the positives. #1: Great ambiance, well lit with natural lighting (plenty of windows), friendly staff, great open kitchen. #2Nice selection of dishes, multiple daily specials, great wine selection. Dishes were all great, especially the puff pastry with applewood smoke bacon and the red chilaquiles. The pancakes with camels butter Now the cons: #1 really slow service. we went during lunch hour and it was busy, but not overly packed (no wait for a table). After 40min of waiting for our food, had to inquire about it, because we had 10 minutes left on our lunch break. Food came out hot, and had to scarf it down, but it was all delicious. #2 orders weren't exactly correct. we order huevos ranchero with friend eggs, and one of the eggs was poached instead of fried (kinda weird, having one fried and one poached....). i also asked for my pico de gallo on the side (for my chilaquiles) and the just our right forgot to give it to me. not any major mistakes, but for having taken over 30 minutes who make our order, i would have expected to atleast be correct. For dessert, i grabbed a blueberry bread pudding to go, and it was PHENOMENAL. I will definitely be back for the food...hopefully they work on the wait time. If you are looking for a homemade and really fresh meal here is your spot. This place was a great brunch spot a little hidden. My wife had the farm fresh bowl and I had the chilaquiles. Both were amazing. We also had the esquitas for an appetizer which was really well flavored. Finished it up with cheesecake for desert. Definitely across the board the food was good. Our server seemed to be a little slow in checking on is but wasn't bad. Iced tea was almost as much as a mimosa but the tea was good I must admit. We definitely will be going back. Had a late breakfast of red chile chilaquiles & a chorizo omelette. Both had bold flavors & were rich in spices. Presentation was eye-catching. Joshua Tree Coffee Co. was dark & rich. Saw familiar faces, young professionals & some older folks enjoying their meals. Service was frequent & responsive to our questions. I enjoyed the open space & decor. It was busy, about 3/4 occupied & a bit cramped but the space is unique & they have done their best to maximize tables & chairs. Delicious organic food and coffee with amazing service! I ordered the grilled veggie tacos, and my server was kind enough to double-check that they were vegan. The result: a delicious, satisfying, and healthy cornucopia of veggies. This place is an incredible lunch spot for vegetarian/vegan, gluten free, and everyone else!
