Everyone I bring here raves & then returns & brings others... and so on & so on. Chilaquiles are a must have- wow between the red sauce, poached egg, avocado & onion jam, the flavor combination in each bite is divine. Tamales are made fresh on site & melt in your mouth. It's not a stretch to say they are the best in town. If you want to bring some of the salsa home, they have 3 kinds. Best to order on line in the morning before its gone (pick up when you leave) The cilantro lime salad dressing is also amazing, can order that online for pick up too. Location is in a bit of an odd spot within office complex, so indoor seating is preferable. But if you have your pup, outdoor patio seating is available. Be mindful it does get hot out there during summer months. read more

We drove out to la quinta because this place got such great reviews. When we initially walked in, it was pretty dead and almost walked out but considering our current corona climate and coachella summers, it's understandable these days. We had to sit outside and although it was hot; not that unpleasant. Rita who served us was utterly charming. We had a watermelon salad to share followed By tacos. The watermelon was ice cold and sweet with tajin, arugula abs queso fresco and lime. Simple and very refreshing and tasty. To add to our experience a 'regular' just sat himself at our table and started talking to us...it added to the spontaneity. Everything here is FRESH, exceptionally plated and presented and DELICIOUS. It truly was a magnificent meal. My husband and I spoke about it all day. It's in a business park so a little hidden but not complicated to find. When we're back in La Quinta, this will be our No1 place to go to. You have to try this place. read more

We have been wanting to try Chula and finally did so. We will now be "regulars" as Chef Katherine demonstrates Food Artistry at the highest level. Don't come here expecting run of the mill Mexican food! Chef Katherine has unique blends of foods and spices that awaken taste buds down to one's very soul. Often, exceptional service can make the food even taste better! Calle was in charge of making our experience top notch and she was an all-star. She made it seem as if she was serving members of the Monarch. She truly made an effort to make sure we had a good experience. We felt as if she went out of her way to make us feel special. Note to Owner Katherine: Take good care of Calle as she knows what it takes to make people want to return to your restaurant. Let me start by saying "Thank God" we finally have a farm to table eatery on this side of the desert like Chula's. Can we just start with how unique and special the name itself is. I heard the name "Chula" growing up every time my grandmother would greet me with the kiss. Everything from the Joshua tree coffee, to the little side of foamed milk they give you if you require cream, The beautiful salt and pepper shakers, even their water glasses are adorable. You could really see all the love that's put into the details and most importantly the food at this beautiful new establishment located in La Quinta. I found the staff to be very knowledgeable about the menu, and excited about the items they served. You could tell they each have a personal interest in all the dishes that are made here. It definitely is my new favorite little corner of the world here in La Quinta. read more

We tried this place because my sister has gluten and dairy allergies. Their menu includes a gluten and dairy free pancake, which she was excited to try. She really liked it. Her juevos rancheros and my chilaquiles were both really good as well. Very authentic tasting. Coffee was good...I bought a bag to take home. Food was good, very cool modern Mexican. The setup and service was not. It was also confusing to get a reservation and a table, and not get table service. Getting a reservation and a table gave us the impression we would. Our mistake for thinking that of course. Very confusing. There were no signs or directions on ordering. We just sat there like morons, with our friends that invited us, trying to figure it out. When we figured it out, the line was out the door. I waited 30mins in line to place our order. Our food came out before our drinks. They didn't even bring cutlery. By then, we were already hangry. And our OJ we paid for never came. We were overly patient, especially knowing how short staffed restaurants are these days, but this was a horrible experience. Too bad, because the food was pretty good. Maybe try coming on a weekday for a better experience. read more

To say that service was lacking would be putting it nicely. Server completely forgot my drink order and had to be reminded. They also ignored our request for the check and with the second request acted as if we were rude to be in a rush, over 15 minutes after clearly finishing our meal. This is 1 of 2 restaurants that I have been wanting to try since they opened. I was more than surprised to say the food and the service were both excellent. I ordered the vegan bowl. I loved the taste and the variety of fresh vegetables and grains. The staff was friendly but not intrusive. The only minus was when cleaning the tables, the spray of the cleaner landed in our direction. Fortunately, we didn't have our food yet. I find no reason to take away a star on this review based on that. Instead I hope you find it constructive criticism. Can't wait to go again. read more

I absolutely loved this place! We were in town for a family event and I was looking for breakfast options and found this gem! From the moment you walk inside, the vibe is just so nice! The service was excellent, our waitress was an absolute blast! I ordered the Chile Relleno with Shrimp and it was delicious! I asked for a side of avocado and it complemented it so well! My husband got the chilquiles and he said it was very flavourful! It was pricey I wont lie, but to me it was worth it, my only regret is not getting dessert because we were so full! But I did take a tres leches latte to go and it was delicious, on our way out, one of the employees approached us as we were looking at the desserts and she was very helpful explaining what they were, we found out latet she was actually the owner, it was a very nice of the owner to do that, shows she cares for her business and you can definitely tell that her heart was poured into the restaurant! I found out about Chúla here on Yelp. It was listed as hot and new. I'm always on the lookout for what I refer to as 'conscious' food. As it turns out, it's both Mexican, my favorite, and totally conscious! Everything is freshly prepared, with an emphasis on locally sourced goods. We ordered the signature salsa flight which was outstanding. The salsas are unbelievably fresh and the chips are homemade and fried in grapeseed oil, which is so much healthier. We also split the farm bowl which has a wonderful, super fine sweet potato and house-made turkey sausage hash. The decor is fresh and beautiful, light and airy. Our server, Garret, was lovely and helpful. We also met the owner, Katherine, who came out to each table to check on the guests. A wonderful experience...we look forward to returning! read more

I expect the place to be busy. But another couple was seated before us. We were the next couple to be seated. That annoyed me a bit. We arrived and requested the table before the other couple. The hostess forgot that she talked to us and that's not okay. But whatever. We ordered the Chula special, huevos rancheros, the salsa flight, and the chocolate cake. The Chula special was a watered tamale. The sauce beneath the tamale was okay and not spicy. I had to add Cholula sauce to make it have more flavor. The huevos Ranchos was probably the best thing we ordered. The salsa flight was not spicy. It was partially my fault for not ordering the spicy salsa. Their mild salsa is quite sweet. Their pico de Gallo is really onionly and I like that. Their green salsa is probably the most flavorful out of the three. The chocolate cake was okay. The waitress said it was better than good. The sponge was a little dry. I wonder if it was a gluten free cake. The micheladas were very refreshing. I don't think it's worth $8, but they were good. I think it's one of the best in the desert. The service was nice accepted for the fact that another couple that came after us was seated before us. Their employees should try to educate the customers on what the salsa flight is. In most Mexican/southwestern restaurants salsa and chips come with no cost. You have to pay for them at this place. It was weird that they gave us two different looking glasses. That's unconventional, I'm used to identical glasses given. That's not too bothersome, as long as they were clean. The bathroom was a mess. There was an entire roll of toilet paper on the floor. I saw a baby diaper next to my toilet. It's not entirely Chúla Eatery's fault because they share a bathroom with Louise's Pantry. I would come back to try other things on their menu. read more

I love the menu. We ordered everything to go. However, the ratio of food served to the cost does not jive! It's VEGAN = quinoa, beans & veggies! Head over to Heirloom kitchen in Indio, down valley to Nature's in Palm Springs to get some food for $5-$7 less a plate & you won't be hungry half an hour later. Even Chipotle will serve you up a nice healthy portion of beans & veggies for 1/2 the price! We spent over $100 on 3 entrees, a quart of salsa and 5 Bakery items. None of the entrees came with meat or sides other than a bit of spring mix. read more

Zero stars for literally the worst cup of coffee I've ever had in my life. Back up to two because the food looks good and I don't want to be wildly unfair. So delish! Came here for brunch both weekend days when visiting the desert. The service is so sweet, food is delicious, and iced coffee is homemade and very refreshing. I had the avo toast with a poached egg on it, which is served with a light but flavorful onion jam on a thick toast. Wow, my husband and I were VERY impressed with this restaurant. We got the trio salads and chips, all 3 salsas were amazing, we couldn't pick a favorite. Chips were also perfectly fried, warm with a little salt on top. Best chips / salsa in the desert for sure. We both got the huevos rancheros, we were both very happy with our decision. The salsa on top, amazing. The retried black beans, perfectly seasoned. We both ate every single bite on the plate, it was that good. Staff is very nice.
