The sever service is also absolutely lovely. She is so attentive . Not to mention they gave our kids a bag full of crayons for coloring - my kids were angel during the whole meal as they are occupied by the large coloring sheet and all that crayons lol. I stumbled upon CJ Diner while taking my car to AG Auto Care next door. I noticed there was a diner within walking distance, so my son and I decided to check it out--and I'm glad we did. We were seated right away and chose to sit on the patio since the weather was nice. The patio had a shaded seating area which made it really comfortable. My 3-year-old ordered the kids' egg breakfast, and the portions were very generous. I would have liked the hash browns to be a little crispier, but they were still good overall. I can't quite remember our server's name--I believe it was Pam--but she was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I kept things simple and ordered the 6 oz grilled chicken with a side of sweet potato and avocado since I'm trying to watch what I eat (doctor's orders). What I really had my eye on, though, was the Reuben sandwich--maybe next time! Overall, it was a great little diner and a nice surprise find. Cute little place. Spacious and welcoming. The staff was really nice and attentive. The food was fresh and decent. The Monte Christo is a little dry, you definitely need syrup or ask for extra cheese in it. The potatoes were slightly hard. Otherwise it was good. I'd like to go back and try their lunch. read more

The family and I were in Palm Desert this weekend and we had takeout breakfast from CJ's Diner. Saturday morning I had a breakfast burrito and chocolate chip pancakes and it was savory (the salsa had the right amount of spicy). Sunday I had the famous burger with pastrami and it was the driest burger I've ever had. Overall, a decent breakfast spot but it is hit or miss. read more

Came here for breakfast wasn't feeling too good so when they said the special of the day was Albondigas (Mexican meatball soup) I was super excited. Daughter had American breakfast and granddaughter a pancake which they had no complaints however when my soup was served I was totally disappointed! Whoever told the cooks that you make Albondigas with frozen Italian meatballs?? Not authentic at all, the veggies were so soggy just an absolute disappointment. Please take it off your menu!! Came back to CJs this morning, greeted by Antonio with complimentary Cinamon Rolls that were amazing. We were taken care of by Veronica today. Food was amazing as always, came out hot and ready like a little Caesar's pizza. Was able to meet CJ himself. The whole staff and environment was top of the lines. It's been years since we were at CJ's. We were greeted with good service and a friendly environment. We ended up there because I was looking for fish and chips, and CJ's didn't disappoint. Just flat out terrible. Food was dry and not very good. Waitress couldn't be worse! From the second we walked in, she was rude and didn't show much care. This spot is tucked between an industrial district, which reminded me of Karen's Cafe just northwest of this restaurant. It was clearly good because a lot of people were having breakfast. Seeing as I didn't need a table, I sat at the bar and had bacon and eggs with hash browns that were a bit greasy because I ended up yacking out the grease later that day. They were crispy perfectly but they needed to lighten up on the oil used. Eggs were plentiful and delicious, bacon was crispy and light. The toast was a tough consumption. I've never had sourdough that tough to chew before. Overall, I was pleased with breakfast before heading out for a long day of tennis, the help was at my need and they work hard there. I was disappointed that I couldn't try their cinnamon rolls because of Lent. I will give it a try next time. read more
