I've just got to say, I'm so happy they are still here after all these years. Recently I rediscovered the John's in Palm Springs. Ever since, the Palm Desert location has been on my list to re-visit. I have many fond memories of visiting this location many moons ago. When I lived and worked in the area. The chicken sandwich and zucchini are still my favorite menu items. I love the distinct char flavor of the chicken. Plus the seasoned breading and large piece's of the fried zucchini are just perfect on their own or dipped in ranch sauce. Generous portions, friendly staff, comfortable booths and delicious food! They have their own parking lot to the rear of the building. read more

I love going to John's . Why Because they always get it right. I love that the ladies greet me are so friendly and just amazing . I started coming to Johns in the 1990's and loved the food. I recently moved back to the desert and have been in the restaurant 3 times. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed in the food all three times! The service is fine but today I ate the worst Machaca burrito I have ever eaten in my life! Wanted a late breakfast/brunch meal and by chance stopped into John's. I had a traditional pancakes, egg and bacon breakfast which was hot, prepared well and delicious. Others in my group had the lamb salad and gyro sandwich. The salad was enough for two, fresh and filling as well as the lamb. The service was friendly, fast and laid back. Had the carne asada breakfast burrito which I've ordered before but the morning of 1/17/2026 it was cooked to perfection, not over loaded with cheese or too oily... ingredients were portioned out just right & it was delicious!! I love John's in Palm Springs, so of course I had to stop by John's in Palm Desert because I just wanted to something good, fast, and cheap. I actually came here twice, but the first time was just to get a breakfast burrito to go. It was the greasy goodness that I was hoping to get. Had breakfast today, steak and eggs, it was so bad, I had to send my food back 3 times, 1, steak was under cooked red bloody and cool to the touch. 2. Hash browns were flat full of oil 3. I told the waitress, can't you see what you are serving, that the food is not presentable? She said oh I didn't really look. They gave me my money back and said they can make another plate but I said no, 3 times I had to send my food back never again, this place is a dump, bathrooms stink, upholstery is falling apart, waitresses seemed unshowered, i will be calling the health board. Ok this is a rarity for me, a one star. Pleasant counter staff but slow service. The restaurant was dirty, garage on the floors that needed to be mopped, it had an open ketchup dispenser with a paper scoop in it (yuk saw this as we were leaving), and the walls by the restroom were filthy with broken tiles. Not a Class A establishment. My omelette was tasteless, my English muffins were tough, and my wife's Greek salad was ok at best, lots of romaine lettuce ends and too much red onion. Had the Fish and Chips, and initially, the coleslaw tasted good but had an after taste, which deminished my interest. The fish was hot but greasy. The fries were plentiful but became less crispy the longer they were on the plate. I was the only person in the place for most of the time I was there, and I was surprised how long it took for the meal to get to me. Grilled ham and cheese was served with American cheese and no potato, chips, or even a lonely piece of parsley (not that I'm a big fan of parsley anyway). Coffee tasted like brown water. Once is more than enough. Oh, check out the sign on the counter. They invented a new cheese and can't take time to spell out the word "bacon." read more

It was horrible...everything, from the service, to the food, to the empty restaurant with nit one clean table to be found.

We went there for a burger and it was great! I think that they made smash burgers before there was a name for them. The fries were crisp and hot. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were friendly. It looks like an old fast food place from the 70's but it is a pleasant place to eat. So glad I found this little gem. I've made this my go to lunch spot. I've had burritos, sandwiches and a few breakfast items and this place is hands down the best food I've had in this area. I have been coming to that restaurant since 1988 and the quality of the food is very good, the service is great, especially one of the waitresses who has been working here for more than 30 years, her name is Rosy. Well our food came before our drinks.. I ordered a coffee see pic *just how I like my coffee alllll over the place* I had an egg white breakfast sandwich 10/10. My boyfriend ordered the French Toast Special 8/10, syrup has no flavor. The service was bad, only brought our food to us and never checked up on anything. No silverware was given, had to go up to the front to ask for it. Look at the cup that was given to us to drink out of, requested a straw and never got it. Tables were dirty, saw the workers "cleaning up" the booths not really lol. The lady that brought the coffee and food was rude. Creamers on table were sticky and gross.. Wow has this place gone to the dumps over the years. Terrible service and ripping people off for bad quality food. Tried charging me 7.17 for a SMALL cup of apple juice. The brand that you buy at Walmart then gave me the wrong bag of food. Unbelievable. And to make matters worse. As if things weren't bad enough. They put lettuce and tomatoes on their breakfast sandwiches. In what world do they put lettuce or tomatoes on an egg cheese and bacon sandwich? I recently posted a review. For a great hamburger I sure do recommend Johns Restaurant. Also super fries. Two weeks ago a former exchange student came to town with his brother from France, Sidney and Maiwenn. They wanted to go to In and Out. I said I know a place with the best hamburger. They said ok, but better be good. I took them to John's on Palm Canyon. They said I was so right. Flaver, delicious hamburgers. Great meal. And I'm sure they too will return. One day I'll try something different. I see other customers eating a variety of food. But this is my go to place for a hamburger.
