The food was SO good I almost forgot I'm NOT a vegetarian. At one point I was halfway through my meal thinking, "Wow, this chicken is amazing"... except there was no chicken. This is pretty much a hole in the wall kinda place. We chanced upon this during our trip to Palm Springs. This is one of those places which proves that the vegetarian food if done right beats any meat dishes anyday! I ordered the Hippie burger, it was just fantastic. The bread had a nice crunch, the hummus, the veggies, seitan everything just melted in the mouth. I couldn't resist the 2nd half I was hoping to save. They had a special dish, burrito, but they were kind to accommodate and do it without the tortilla. The Agua Fresca was muaah!! I'm obsessed with Chef Tanya's Kitchen and the vibe in here! This is my perfect hangout spot! If you want to escape to a vegan oasis, just read your book alone for a while with a warm soup, get some work done with a refreshing agua fresca, or catch up with a friend over some vegan ice cream, this is the place! The staff here was incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment I stepped in, great vibes! There's cute and fun tchotchkes all over to browse and shop, as well as the pre packaged food and desserts. I loved how open the space was and how much seating was available. I opted for the special, which pulls from their popular Chicken Chupacabra burger, in taco form instead, and comes with pozole and a melon mango agua fresca. I really enjoyed all three parts of this meal, it tasted flavorful but light, unlike typical restaurant food, and I especially enjoyed their vegan protein, which is unlike any other I've had. The melon mango agua fresca also really hit the spot for me, I was surprised at how much I liked the melon flavor, it was a very refreshing blend! I will definitely be back here, the food was pro level but had a homemade feel to it that just warmed my soul. This place is so good! Came here during Coachella hoping for a tasty cleanse and Chef Tanya did not disappoint! Some of the best vegan food you'll ever have! Everything felt so fresh and flavorful, was perfect for balancing out all the alcohol and festival food! I was visiting family and got to stop by Tanyas Kitchen just before heading back to Hesperia. The food was excellent and great customer service. Chef Tanya was there that Sunday night and introduced herself she was very kind. I purchased some of macaroni and cheese from the refrigerated items and ate today and it' was the best plant based macaroni and cheese I have tried so far. Will be back soon! Chef Tanya was featured at the BNP Paribas Open, and since this was the closest location, I thought it was worth leaving a review. I ordered the burrito and the chicken sando. Everyone knows that event food can be pretty pricey, so for about $25, you get a vegan dish. I'm glad there was a vegan option at the open, although I'm not vegan, I did celebrate Lent and avoid meat on Fridays. The pickled veggies needed a bit more work, but overall, the sando and the burrito were pretty solid! Great service! read more

My first time at Chef Tanya's Kitchen was a real pleasure. This location is in Palm Desert off El Paseo. They have a shady patio as you enter. The interior is spacious with a modern desert relaxed vibe. One area offers Vegan ice cream confections and dessert options. The center area is a dining space with gourmet vegan options offered for take home. Things like Vegan cheeses and spreads, Pickles, and cashew cream cheese. The third area is where you place your order. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Vegan Chili. It is made with Seitan. The seasoning was very good. New to the area and relied on Yelp to help us with vegetarian and gluten free friendly restaurant for your group. This came up as #1 and the food has been great! Nothing was bad and we enjoyed our food immensely. Due to holiday season and being short staffed, their fries were out both times we came. So come early for fries! When they are out they are out! I enjoyed the chicken tenders made of seitan/tempeh? And it was very good with the vegan sauce! I also had guac from the kids menu of jicama chips and guac and it went great with the tenders as well. Second time I came at 530pm and they were out of chicken tenders as well! The in laws loved their banh mi and you and BLTA as well as their quinoa salad bowl! Their aqua Fresca of the day has been great and comes with 1 free refill! We had tried their watermelon and their mango cantaloupe juice from 2 separate days and they were refreshing and amazing! I like talking to fellow long time patrons while waiting in the long ish line and he recommended the chupacabra burger and their fries. Unfortunately we didn't have luck in trying the fries but hopefully we can go to the palm spring location before leaving town to try those out. This restaurant also has items for purchase like a shop in a coop feel to it and it's very casual. Would recommend and uphold Yelp algorithm. Only minus is they no longer have gluten free bread and intend on phasing out their wraps as well so it's down to just lettuce wrap for GF people. We did get their GF apple cobbler and it was great. More than a restaurant, this is a mini vegan store with an assortment of pre-prepared foods, sauces, books, and more. I felt comfortable just wandering around and checking things out. No pressure. Can only speak for the soft serve. I ordered a mini chocolate vanilla swirl, which if you didn't tell me it was vegan, I would not have been able to tell. A MUST TRY! I found Chef Tanya's after looking for vegan restaurants near palm springs and i'm SO glad I did! My boyfriend and I went for lunch for the first time and the food was SO INSANELY good we went to the other location later that night to pick up the chocolate cake slice and peanut butter parfait for dessert AND went back the next morning for breakfast!! For lunch I got the Hippie sandwich, my boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich, and we shared seitan chicken tenders. We also got a cinnamon roll which was the best cinnamon roll we've ever had, and the main reason we went back the next morning for breakfast! (We were so sad to see they were sold out but TOTALLY understand why!!) The staff were also super friendly and accommodating with our questions about the menu! Not to mention the seating areas both inside and outside were so pretty, the outside had water misting due to the heat and the inside had the cutest shop items to browse through throughout the room. They even sell the ranch (which was insane btw), seitan deli slices, chickpea "tuna", and so much more, so if you liked something from what you ordered, you're likely to be able to buy some to take it home to enjoy later too! Recently, on a trip to Palm Desert, I stopped by Chef Tanya's Kitchen for dinner. The place was really cute--half ice cream shop and half small store stocked with lots of vegan items, plus a café where you can order food. The lady helping us was super nice and recommended some of their popular items. We went with the Guadalajara burger and a fried chicken sandwich from the special menu, plus a refreshing agua fresca (forgot the flavor, but it wasn't too sweet). We also got some fries. I'm not super familiar with vegan food, but I eat it often because my girl loves it. Both the burger and the sandwich had protein that tasted like real meat, which made them really enjoyable. The only downside was that the vegan bread was a bit dry, but nothing a little extra ketchup couldn't fix. Overall, I loved the meal and the atmosphere, and I'd definitely come back if I was in the area for a nice, healthy bite. read more

When I was in college, I was a HUGE FAN of Native Foods. I had no idea that cafe I randomly found on Yelp in my less-than-24 hr stay in Palm Desert would lead me to the soul chef behind one of my favorite vegan eateries of all time! My friend and I were looking for something quick and healthy to eat. I saw one vegan option on the menu and figured that was enough for me. Little did I realize that this entire place was actually vegan! That totally worked out since my friend used to be vegetarian and is still veg-preferring. We both ordered the Chupacabra Chikn and LOVED IT!!! We couldn't leave without grabbing a dessert. For her, she got the chocolate cake. For me, I grabbed the lemon. We loved this place so much we came back the next day for more! The service was super friendly and so were the customers in line. We made friends on both days while waiting to order. The decor of the cafe is upbeat and cheerful. There was also a side of the restaurant that served ice cream. You bet we each got ourselves a cone! Healthy food shouldn't cost a fortune and shouldn't be accessible only to those with credit cards. I wish Tanya took into consideration those who can only pay with cash so her business is truly inclusive and available to all levels of residents in the Coachella Valley. The space itself is curious. They have an indoor "picnic area" which is across the street from the kitchen. In that space, people feel free to have loud conversations or play video games on their phones. The food itself is nothing special. It's good, but your average home cook could do as well.
