The service is located inside the Mall, but the owners were so nice, since I'm Peruvian we were talking about our country and asked each other what part of Peru we were from. As a Peruvian, I'm always a little picky when trying Peruvian food in the desert, but Volcanic Fusion Kitchen completely blew me away. I ordered their Leche de Tigre, and I can confidently say it was 100% authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The fish was incredibly fresh, the juice was perfectly balanced, and they nailed the exact level of spiciness I asked for. You can truly tell this family-owned restaurant puts their heart into bringing out the traditional Peruvian flavors in every dish they make. The service was warm, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I was so impressed that I ended up coming back and ordering the same dish twice in one week. It was very difficult finding Volcanic Fusion. I saw it on Yelp but had no idea it was in a mall, Palm Desert Shoppes. If you need directions, this place is on the second floor in the middle of the mall. The escalators in the middle are under reconstruction. The food court itself was kinda sad. Mrs Fields wasn't open and a Sushi place is permanently closed. It was not very busy on a Thursday night. There's a crepe and ramen place I'd like to try. My order was ready when I arrived. They were actually trying to call me to see when I was coming. The cashier was very nice. She asked what sauce I'd like. I had no idea. She offered sarsa which was good but I can't figure out what was in it. She couldn't explain it and I thought she said salsa. There are Peruvian items on a chalkboard that weren't online so I ordered the tamale and had to wait. While we're waiting we ate our online orders. The gyro fries were good. 8/10 I'm glad we didn't wait to eat as it would get soggy. There was the right amount of gyro. I like that there was plenty of feta cheese as well. The gyro meat didn't taste like the usual meat in used to buy it wasn't bad. This place is a fusion of Mediterranean and Peruvian food. I don't think they actually fused the food but they offer both types of food. I think they should stick to Peruvian and do it well. The falafel wrap was OK. 7/10 The falafel was crispy and had the right spice level but the lettuce in it was wilted and I would've enjoyed it without it. The chicken empanada was Peruvian style. 8/10 It was huge! I enjoyed it most with the sarsa and the garlic aoili sauce! It would've been better with Chimchurri! Finally, the surprise of the meal, was the chicken tamale Peruvian style. I'm so glad I ordered it. It was the size of a burrito! 10/10. There was chicken and an egg in it which I really liked. They removed the husk for me as I was going to eat it tight away. I almost ate the whole thing it was that good. It was different than a Mexican tamale, but I really enjoyed it. read more

We were looking for unique places to eat and we found Volcanic Fusion kitchen which seems to be a radically cool fusion of Peruvian and Greek food. It is on the food court of The Shops at Palm Desert, but don't let that dissuade you from trying it out. We ordered a he Gyro fries with feta, tzezki sauce, meat, tomatoes.Between me and my kids it did not last long. It was great. We also ordered the chicken empanada that was large, moist, and fresh. We loved their sauces and they freely gave us more tzezki, garlic ailoi (wow), and sarsa (yes it is called "sarsa") sauce. Lastly we ordered a chicken tamale that was large, moist, and tasty with a surprise egg inside that was a unique tasty addition. The service was quite friendly and accommodating. The service has been great both times my boyfriend and I have gone. The cashier with long wavy/curly is pretty friendly and answered all our questions. The blonde lady cook also smiles whenever customers come up. The volcanic salute is a good portion and pretty tasty. The lunch specials are for one individual, I wouldn't recommend sharing g unless you're only looking for something light. It comes with a dressing for some of the house salad included, rice and either grilled chicken or steak. This kind of feels like a more affordable, fast food type of option for Luna Grill. SEPERATE ISSUE for the mall I'm not fond of eating where it's high foot traffic so we eat in our car. However mall security always gives us the hardest time about it. They basically claim we're loitering in our car and that it's private property. Mind you, this is during open hours of the mall. We're not sitting in the car at night after all the shops have closed. We went to the one at the mall in Palm Desert. It was so so good. I had the Cucumber salad then I chose to put shrimp on it. My husband had the steak sandwich and fries. I wish I had taken a picture of his also. He loved it. That was probably the best cucumber salad I have ever had. Everything is made fresh when you order it even the dressing on my salad. The staff is great. We could not believe it did not cost more. Very good prices and awesome food. You have to go there if you're at the mall. This was the best Peruvian food hands down made by Peruvians so the taste was authentic with authentic ingredients. My wife and I met the chef and she's so passionate about her food and was very friendly. Think it may have been family working there every one was so polite and friendly engaged in conversation about Peru. My wife and I had the lomo saltado and I had to get the ceviche con chicharron it was absolutely delicious. We usually make stops throughout the places we visit to try the Peruvian food and this is it. The ceviche was fresh and had all the authentic ingredients it's like if we were sitting in Peru eating. discovered this amazing gem yesterday in the mall food court of all places. lovely family run Peruvian fusion. after asking questions about spiciness of the food (I can't eat spicy) we chose the half rib plate and the Chaufa Rice with Shrimp plate. oh my goodness!!! The sauce was so fresh and tasted the rocoto but very mild. It seemed they just made it fresh. We ordered Bistec a lo pobre with an over easy egg on top, a mixed ceviche so delicious and fresh. The portion were very reasonable n good size. Your money's worth. We also order to go Alfajores. Which is a butter cookie home made with maja blanco filling home made as well. Delicious. I've been coming here pretty consistently for about a year and have tried nearly everything on their menu. Every single dish I've tried has been delicious and had unique flavors. The family that runs the business are beautiful and kind people who always have great energy and smiles on their faces, they make you feel as if it is their pleasure to be serving you. I usually come with my now 1 year old son and the times I don't they always ask about him and love to see how big he is getting and new things he's learned. At first I came for the food, which is always great, but I ended up coming back over and over to see these genuinely kind people. The staff was extremely personal and offered us samples of their delicious Peruvian cookies (Alfajores). I ordered the lomo saltado and didn't expect much considering the low price, but was delicious and very filling. My dad and I split one serving. My other favorite place to order lomo is $6 more so definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more
