This was my first time here. The food was horrible!! My sister ordered the rib eye tacos and nothing was seasoned and was disappointed the pickled onions were not pickled. My cousin ordered chicken and rice and the chicken was so bad that she didn't eat her dish. read more

Was in the mood for Mexican food and this was close to our hotel. The place was packed but we were still seated right away. Server was super friendly and efficient. The skinny margarita was really good. For my main dish I got the open face enchiladas. I ate the entire plate! It was so good with the green sauce our server had recommended. I was visiting my sister in Palm Springs, she has been telling me about Maracas a restaurant in Rancho Mirage that has really good Mexican food, and she was not lying. We were seated and found out that we were in time for happy hour from 3pm to 5pm weekdays, a few TV's a enclosed cover patio, an open kitcher with huge bar in the center, there is another location in Palm Springs too, the chips & salsa was top notch it was spicy and so good. We ordered a margarita and sangria, the buffalo chicken wings and a combination enchilada plate, all of our food was very tasty plus delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful checking on usa few times. In the past I gave this place five stars, but that was a couple years ago. Today I ordered the beef fajitas and..., damn. The best part of the meal were the refried beans, and rice. Wish Yelp gave a six star option. We've been coming to Maraca's for years. My wife and I call it the "Cheers" of Mexican restaurants... it's where everybody knows your name! The food is consistently solid. The waitstaff are all amazing and their margaritas are fire! My go to dinner is the skirt steak, sautéed spinach, and chipotle mashed potatoes. All three items are amazing. I would venture to say that the chipotle mashed potatoes are the best mashed potatoes I've ever had anywhere. This place is a local gem that my wife and I enjoy dining at at least once a week. read more

Been here twice. Once for eat in lunch and then one for take out dinner. First time we ate here it was good. I had the Brie Cheese quesadilla and the regular quesadillas. Service was great. Next time we ordered for take out. Steak Grande Burrito had no flavor at all. The skirt steak salad was awful. Soggy apples and very little cheese but a lot of lettuce. Steak was chewy and could not eat it. I'd be up for trying the happy hour but won't order food. read more

There were a lot of places to choose from on the strip and we chose Maracas on a whim. So glad we did. Our waiter, (didn't catch his name but apparently his sister lives up the block from us in Garden Grove) was really friendly. He suggested Sarten de Maracas. My colleague and I stopped here for a beer after work. We arrived during happy hour. There were some good specials, but I didn't get any food because I had dinner plans later. Good music. Attentive service. The salsa that is brought to the table and the chips were perfect. I don't normally eat chips and salsa, but I attacked these. Prices seemed about right. The only thing consistent about this place is the chips and salsa. Tried the lunch bowl and it was mediocre at best. Tried the chicken tortilla soup and had to send it back it was soooo beyond strong and salty!! Then ordered the albóndigas soup and it was just broth with vegetables and strange tasting meatballs. Tried the poblano soup and it was decent the first time I ordered it. Tried to order it again another day and it was NOT EDIBLE. They tried to thicken it with flour and forgot to add the cream! It was chunky with balls of flour. Yuck!!! I have tried this place several times due to it being next to my work and I have to say HARD PASS. We wanted to round it up to an even number but was then charged more than that. After we paid the person taking credit cards said oh thats the extra credit card fee. You can judge a lot about a Mexican restaurant by the chips and salsa. Actually, the chips, salsa, and the Chile rellenos. Fresh, warm, crispy chips, with a huge bowl of salsa are placed at each table for you to much on. If you're adventurous, you need to ask for some of their spicy salsa; it has a kick that keeps on kicking! If you don't sweat when you eat, you might as well be eating baby food! You must try the carne tampiquea! The savory carne asada steak with small mouthfuls of cheese enchilada made me have a mouth-orgaism! My tongue was shaking little maracas in excitement! The corn cake and typical sides of beans and rice added flavors that literally made me say, "Fantastic!" Mix those up a little bit together. Trust me. I've enjoyed their potato tacos, burritos, and salads, but nothing has cast a shadow on how excited I was to jump into the tampiquea! The Chile rellanos are light and fluffy... absolutely perfect. They say their drinks are stiff, like a 19 year old when a breeze blows by, but I haven't been able to partake in a libation... yet! The service is every bit of a five star experience. The waiter gave menus to the guys first, took guys orders first, guys got their drinks and food first..... time for the check...he set it down on the table between the 2 ladies. Say what?! First time here and I will be back!! Anthony was my server and he was very helpful. I decided on the House Special salad with shreded beef and it was awesome! Like a giant taco salad without the shell. There were black beans, rice, and avocado. I loved that they used salad greens instead of iceberg lettuce that is a complete waste of time. Their chips and salsa were good too! The salsa was just spicy enough without setting your hair on fair. There was a nice stream of folks coming in for lunch and it appeared that some were regulars. I liked the look and vibe plus the service was consistent. Not real close to where I am in Indian Wells but definitely worth the little extra drive for such good food. read more

I didn't want anything spicy and they gave me pico de gallo and the guacamole with my chimichanga. I asked for no sauce. The guacamole is made with jalapeños. :( The chicken inside was a bit spicy. My coworker got a taco salad thinking it was the shell. She only ate half. She was disappointed. It just had a few tortilla strips. Soda tasted like sink water mixed with a fountain drink. Who knew you could get ribs at a Mexican food restaurant!! The ribs were meaty, the glaze delicious. Came with a side of veggies which were zucchini veggie mix. So yummy. I wasn't crazy about the mashed potatoes as they had some type of sauce mixed in. I'd still order this item again, I'd just choose a different side. The server was awesome, chips were hot, crispy with off the hook salsa. A few of our friends ordered the chili rellenos which were a generous size. I will definitely be back again soon. We arrived on a Sunday at 3, which is a perfect time as the lunch rush was over and right before dinner. We got a great table and the ambiance was relaxing .
