I have brought my staff here, as a thank you lunch, a few years now. The staff doesn't even blink at the size of our group. (Usually around 12.) Everyone gets what they want, no errors in orders. Food is good, but not always great. Consistency can sometimes be an issue. For example, I've gotten sopes that were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and the next time, they were hockey pucks that were hard as rocks. Prices are good, especially for the amount of food you get. The chairs are super heavy, but surprisingly comfortable. The murals on the walls....bless their heart. Terrible service; asked like three times for the bill. The lady that took our order got everything wrong, asked for a Coca Cola, got horchata . Asked for 4 waters , got 3. Asked for 3 menudos took 4 of them. Asked for a plate to share the menudo took about 15 minutes to even show back to the table with no plate. Had to ask AGAIN for the plate, still didn't take it until I asked someone else. I don't recommend this place to anyone, service is horrible. read more

Allende is my favorite Mexican spot in my area. The food is always delicious and service is always great! The chips and salsa are so yummy before your meal arrives. Usually start off with the chiles güeritos, they have the right amount of spicy kick the cheese and shrimp are the right amount & go so well with the chipotle sauce & soy sauce it comes with. My go to is always the Alpastor tacos! they are so well seasoned and meat is perfectly cooked! The customer service by all the servers and workers is always amazing. We are regulars here so it's nice to be recognized. But even if you are not a regular the staff is friendly to all customers. If you are in the area, you have to try this spot. It has gotten some upgrades in the recent years and they now have a little bar you can sit and eat. Come to Allende restaurant for good authentic Mexican food! :) read more

We live down the street so we come here often. Never anytime less than the best. One of my favorites is the shrimp enchiladas or the shrimp cocktail. We also ordered the queso fundio which was DELICIOUS! It was my husband's first time trying that appetizer. We usually like to switch it up every time we go so that we are trying different things on the menu. This is usually our go to when it comes to family dinner or just a date night with just my husband and I. We have been coming here for over 10 years. My coworkers recommended this place, so I decided to check it out. Waitress was nice. I was served tortilla chips with salsa to start. Quite spicy... The carne asada taco was okay, but I felt like it was missing something, maybe seasoning or sauce to add. The al pastor taco was packed with flavor and tasted good! Off the beaten path, yes it is. I didn't want to go through drive through and I was craving for Mexican food. With my trust Yelp, was able to find this place on our drive back from Arizona to Cali. Well, I'll admit I was hangry. Got to the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Nothing fancy on the outside, but remember you can't judge a book by its cover. I had the carnitas plate and my boyfriend had the fajitas. The server was accommodating and the prices are pretty decent. Living nearby and passing the nondescript front, located in a strip mall will not pull you inside. However was I mistaken. Do not judge the inside, both decor and food by the outside. Walking in we found a beautiful Mexican decor. Huge wooden tables shiny with added inlays add to your experience. The food was terrific. Apps and main courses were all terrific. I discovered an app that blew me away. Six green, tasty but not spicy peppers we're split, cleaned out and stuffed with white cheeses and a shrimp. It is served with a soy sauce for dipping. A new flavor was invented! Lol. The fajitas were flavorful and full of proteins. Our friends also raved about their food too. So don't drive by, drive in for a surprising local treat! read more

First time here, saw the patio from the corner of my eye driving down Jackson, had no idea there was an restaurant establishment. Drove by and stopped in, place was clean & very nicely decorated. Patio was also appealing. Drove in for a Friday night dinner, order the shrimp fajitas & friend ordered a different pork meal. No liquor but beer & anything drink they can make with it. No margaritas to flush the food down. So ... as far as food, ... I ended up paying $15 for onion fajitas. I do enjoy onions but I ordered shrimp fajitas. The onions were overbearing, no other veggies except a dash of green bell peppers. The shrimp that were on the dish were rubbery, small & pathetic. I am not kidding when I say I used the tortillas and had a difficult time scooping up any other substance but onions. Essential made 3 sautéed onion tacos . The salsa was fire for those you prefer not to taste your food, but I am not upset about that, I didn't except any mild salsa for the weak. Just sharing for others. There are no mild options. The two Salsas are either fire hot or ratchet burning. Done deal for me. However, the place was busy so onion (shrimp) fajitas was likely not the item to order. My friend didn't think much of her order either, it was "ok" but she clearly had meat on her plate than I did but the flavor wasn't appealing. BEWARE! Parties of 10 or more! The Hostess/waitress Maria was not accommodating for our party of 20 +. We tried to make it easier by suggesting we separate our Families tables, to 2 separate parties of 10. However, she refused to accommodate even with that easy request, remarking sternly "it would be too much work for herself and her team" making us feel even more so uncomfortable than we already felt. This led us to unfortunately take our business elsewhere with a very sarcastic "Goodbye Have a Good Day!" from your Hostess/Waitress Maria. We've been such loyal customers for over 20 years and have never had this issue before. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. This is nothing against the Owners. Unfortunately the staff has evolved into this treatment of guests. I suggest staff be properly trained in costumer service. read more

This was my first time here. It was recommended by a friend who said this was the best Mexican food in the area. I'm not sure if it's the best I've ever had but the carne asada burrito is really good. Not very expensive either. My buddy and I both got burritos and the total came out to just under $17. I can eat quite a lot so I didn't get full but it was still a good meal. The inside was nice and well set up. The lady that took our order was very nice as well. Overall great place for the price. Earlier today, My family and I went to eat at this restaurant but we were denied service because there were "too many" of us, the hostess told us very rudely if we have more then 20 people we cannot be served, without any other explanation as to why(There were about 30 of us). We even considered being separated at different tables but it was still a no. We've been there before with the same amount of people and it was never an issue until now. Great Mexican food. Slighty confused about the previous reviews because I did not encounter that here. Carne Asada was tender and very flavorful. Did not like the cactus on top though, that's fine - picked it off. The beans and rice it came with were cooked very well, beans had shredded cheese on top - yum! Ceviche camaron was very different than the ceviche I've had at a Salvadorian household. The shrimp would be in whole pieces and were marinated in the acidic juices to cook it rather than being precooked. Although the ceviche here was in pieces that I could not decipher if they were actually giving me shrimp, I'd say well done Allende, the ceviche was amazing, especially when added some of the salsa rojo and salsa verde they offered. Though, one tostada for a good amount of ceviche was not enough. Try to offer two next time! Hubs had the cheese enchilladas con frijoles y arroz. He thoroughly enjoyed his food cause who doesn't love cheese? I couldn't even get a bite of his cheese enchilladas cause he didn't want to share! This place would have gotten a 5 star review if the prices were not so steep. We spent about 30$ for a small amount of food-portions should be bigger. Hoping that this place would be different, my husband and I came here) Quick question for my readers, have you ever ate something so delicious that when you think about it, you want it again. That moment when you rmouth gets all watered up and you head over to get it? I had something similar. My husband and I make it a mission to try all the chile rellenos in the Coachella Valley that we possibly can. We like to try them and see which one taste best. Back to my story, I had read a previous review that mentioned seeds in a chile relleno, we came here hoping it was a mistake by the chef at the other location. We received our food and started eating. Oh my lanta, what an explosion of flavor this was. It was amazing. The melting cheese, the sauce, the battered stuff. Just amazing. Truly. We continue to eat. I get about half way through my chile relleno and you wouldn't believe what we found?! SEEDS!!!!! I called over the waitress and she said that is how they are made. There was nothing she could do about this. My husband asked for a refund, we didn't finish our plate and we did not want anything else. The flavor was there. This was going to be THEE best spot for a chile relleno. The feeling of someone giving you something you wanted for such a long time and then to have ripped right out of your mouth. Ugh, the despair. We wanted to give this place 5 stars, honestly, the service was great, up until we pointed out the seeds. They were in all four of the chili rellenos. So disappointing. read more

Fabulous Friday night Mariachi Show. Delicious food. What a great evening. We had the Tampiquena and the Barbacoa. We also, have had the carne asada taco and shrimp ceviche tostada. The seafood looked very fresh. A dozen oysters in the half shell is $16.95. Service is excellent. Fast and very attentive. Beer is very cold served in a frosty mug with a chilli salt rim. I can't believe this restaurant has been in business since 1985 and I did not know about it! Food is decent, better than most places. Service is great. Rating is based off the way they charge. Visit two weeks ago, I ordered a water with my meal and time to pay, charged as a soda. Last night, ordered a cheese quesadilla for $4.95 (menu price) and was charged $5.95 It's like they like to charge what they think and then laugh it off. read more

I was looking for a place that offered taco Tuesday deals. I found Allende's in Yelp and decided to try it. Although I have eaten here before for lunch, I've never tried there taco Tuesday deal. Service was great and tacos were delicious. Carne Asada, tripas and barbacoa were the best. Cabeza, lengua was good too. Al pastor was a little to oily but wasn't bad.
