I got their lomo saltado since I've been craving it. The beef is moist and tender and the sauce was not too salty. The red onions and chopped tomatoes with the french fries absorbed the sauce well with the fluffy rice. The staff is nice, the parking can get packed.

I had been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally made it happen. It was hard not to order 5+ dishes on their menu because everything looked so good!!! My family tried jalea, papas à la huancaina, and the lomo saltado. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared, the service was friendly, and the space was clean and family friendly. We already can't wait to come back.

Lomo Saltado, Ceviche Pescado, and Two Taco Al Pastor

Local here in Temecula and came here before a concert down in Chula Vista. My family and I use to always get Mario's Peruvian down in LA when we were younger, but obviously location wise we can't do that anymore. My girl and I got the ceviche pescado, two pastor tacos, and of course, Lomo Saltado. The portions were great, the food was delicious, and the lomo really brought me back. I inhaled that plate in a couple minutes. I will definitely be back 1000%.

Thought I would give this place a try once again after a while. This was my fourth time ever being here, but my first after a few years. Writing this place off and not coming back after this last experience. The mother and son were very nice. They're nice, that is, until they receive any type of valid criticism from what I remember from last time and from what I've read of others' critical reviews. The mother takes any valid criticism and handles it extremely poorly and very unprofessionally. I didn't give an opportunity to experience that once again. Although I'm a bit frustrated that I tipped because, again of the idiotic tipping system at the register before even getting the food or any kind of service, and just crossing my fingers, hoping I get well-intentioned, properly prepared food. The Chaufa de Mariscos was tragically bland. I don't know what it's supposed to taste like, but it was the flattest, blandest, most soulless fried rice I've ever tasted in my entire life, literally. There was absolutely nothing to the "flavor" other than cooking oil, salt and maybe some black pepper. How do you hold your head up and not feel guilty for charging people $20 for that after being in operation for 13 or so years? I saw other people's reviews that actually have some sense of what halfway decent food is, and they've said the same exact thing basically since you've opened. I couldn't fathom taking money from people, especially as ridiculously as you over-charge - from customers you serve day in and day out for as long as you have. Doesn't your conscience bother you when you're doing that? The Ceviche Mixto was decent, not great, especially considering that it was served in a sectioned polystyrene to-go container, where the peanuts and hominy each were separated from the rest of the ceviche, and they ran out of (something I frequently read in other people's reviews) of yams. It didn't taste right with the ingredients separated. The corn was really warm and soft, instead of having a nice bite and being chilled with the rest of the ceviche. The dish was just off being served that way, instead of mixed together in a single, unsectioned container. I know you'll just think that you'll be happy that I'm not coming back...after reading other people's negative experiences here since you've opened, and from my personal experience last time, you'll be too stubborn to look at your shortcomings, being blinded by your pride. The other reviews stating the lack of cleanliness is something I would like to echo as well. The unused kitchen/ cooking appliance sitting in the back area of the dining area and in front of the restroom for as long as it has is distasteful and shows a lack of real pride in wanting to provide a welcoming, presentable, pleasant atmosphere for your customers to dine in. Each time I've been in, there are very little to no customers - between 0 & 2 people that were in besides me, and I can see why. Anyway, don't mind me. I'm just baffled as to how deeply disappointing and gutting my entire experience has been living in this place for the entire duration I've unfortunately had to live here. There are very, very few people I've come across around here that hold high standards and intentions to deliver the best service possible, echoing a general deep respect for their mutual human beings. There's an overwhelming amount of fakeness with people smiling in your face but acting poorly and even horribly, everywhere I go here. And it's pretty baffling coming from a major city. You would think it's worse in the big city, and it's absolutely not. The way the vast majority of businesses are run around here basically just barely works at a bare minimum, and everyone puts up with it and sustains a low level of standard that just permeates throughout this place. You guys doing what you're doing for as long as you have obviously gets you by and works for you and your clientele. I guess, stick with it, or if you decide to try to evolve your business, I hope you begin to set a higher standard for everyone else to look up to and try to meet around here, changing things for the better. In the meanwhile, I'll just keep on trying to maintain any narrow trace of sanity I have left in me for as minimally long as I have to still live here. It's a miserable experience being constantly disappointed in the lack of integrity around here, every single day, throughout the day that I experience being here. What a horrific experience having to live here.

Carne Asada Taco and Al Pastor Taco

I came to the shopping center for something else and noticed this place while driving out and decided to stop and saw it had good Yelp reviews so I decided to try it out! I ordered 1 carne asada taco and then 1 Al pastor taco and they were both delicious! The green salsa was also flavorful and tasty! These are probably my favorite tacos I've had in Temecula since moving here last year. The cashier was super friendly and spoke great English and Spanish. I ended up ordering a third taco even though the two were enough food just cause it was so good and I wanted another! The interior has a homey feel, not upscale but pleasant. I will definitely come back and I'm excited to try other dishes.

Chorizo Burrito

I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and my husband ordered the bistec a lo pobre. I was craving a good breakfast burrito and man did they deliver! All the salsas had great flavor too there wasn't one I didn't like. The burrito was very filling. The tortilla was soft and chewy, chorizo had a nice spice, and plenty of potato, egg, and cheese was in each bite. There wasn't a price under the bistec a lo probre, so when it rang up over $20 we were shocked but still wanted to try it. Would we say it's worth $20? Kind of. There's a lot of rice and potatoes on the plate so you're filling up on a lot of carbs. The meat was a little chewy, but the plantains were our favorite part of the plate, nice and crispy edges just the way we like them! The restroom was pretty dirty, trash overflowing and needed a good cleaning. Lots of flies around too but I chose not to think about that too much haha the food was great. The service was amazing, the lady working the front was so sweet! Overall we enjoyed our visit here and we'll definitely be back!

What we ordered
Eric F.

First time here and was very happy with the experience. Seems like a mom and pop shop and who seemed like the owners were very personable and accommodating. We came for the Peruvian food and ordered the lomo Saltado and the pollo saltado(white meat) along with the extra order of fried plantains and a large orange bang and we were set. No need to drive an hour away to find decent Peruvian and glad we found this restaurant place.

Pollo saltado

Very good Peruvian food, I got the Pollo saltado and it was very good. I would recommend and go there again

Melina N.

I love coming to La Choza. As a Bolivian, the Peruvian food is as close as I can get! I love their kindness and the sense of family that I get when I come. The portions are big, freshly made and so full of flavor!

I had a short trio to Palm springs and decided to taste Peruvian food from places that i read above…read moreaverage reviews, this on has a 4.7 so I decide to give a try. Worst experience I had. I am a native Peruvian, with over 25 years experience as a private caterer, and the lesson I learned is that a big percentage of people who has given 5 stars to this place, don't have much knowledge of Peruvian food. I don't reviews often but in this I felt compelled to. I don't take food pictures like others that take 3 photos from different angles from the same plate, Why not?, because pictures are deceiving and don't give you the really perspective of what are you looking for. This review is based not only in the quality taste and execution of the food, but also on the worse service experience and the excessive lengthy time to had the food serviced at the table. Lets talk about service: 1.-Entered the restaurant, and the waiver without a proper acknowledgement mumble :"just anywhere" 2.- I took him about 7 seven minutes to come to our hour table to ask form drinks. We ordered TWO Diet Inka Kola. He confirmed they are in stock 3.- 5 minutes later he came to apologize as they didn't have in stock, we switch to 1 regular Inka Kola and 1 diet Coke as there were no more sugar or diet options. 4.- Another 6-7 minutes passed when we brough the drinks and took the food order. 5. The food order: Chicharron con yuca Leche de Tigre Causa rellena de pollo Anticuchos 6.- Another 7 minutes passed and he came apologizing because they were out of anticuchos. I asked for the menu to order something an it was another 5 minutes wait before he brough the menu. I ordered a Lomo al jugo sandwich. 7.- At this point we were seating at the table for about 30 and we have not been served any food. About 10 minutes after food start coming to our table. 8.- This is the last detail about service. The Lomo al jugo sandwich was NEVER served, the waiter never placed the order. Now lets talked about food: 1.- Chicharron con yuca. I was expecting maybe 1 or 2 pieces of yuca (REAL YUCA), what was served was 2 pieces of yuca fries from the frozen section of a market. For the chicharron most people use different pork cuts ( cushion meat, butt, shoulder, even pork leg) This case was pancetta or pork belly, we were served 5 small cubes about 1 inch, and they were 50% meat and 50% fat The meat portion had a good taste , but the fat was undercooked. No comments about the salsa criolla 2.- Leche de Tigre This was not leche de Tigre, it was a plain fish ceviche served in an 8 oz glass. I need to admit that is was correctly executed and had a good flavor for ceviche. But i ask for the Leche, with has a different execution flavor and texture 3.- Causa rellena de pollo There are several techniques to make causa, but the main ingredient aside of the potato is " pasta de aji Amarillo". This causa didn't have the texture or right color, I know some people cut corners and use food coloring (BIJOL in some cases). IDK what was used here but it was not the yellow chili paste. The portion was generous, but i chew a piece of chicken skin that were not supposed to be there. 4.-No comments on the anticuchos as they out, and on the sandwich as it was never served. 5. Finally we ask for a leche volteada for dessert. This was tasty well prepared and the amount of sweetness of the syrup was just right. Prices were about what other places charged, but the amount of food were small food portions. However 2 items I believe are overpriced are: 2 Sodas (we were charged for Inkas, maybe same price) $ 8.50 1 Crema volteada $ 8.84 Subtotal bill $ 59.84 Tax $ 5.54 Tip $ 11.77 ( I always tip Let's say the waiter had a bad day and he is not responsible for the quality of the food) Total BIll $ 77.15. Will not come back to this place again Receipt photo included

We started with the papa a la huancaína, followed by the pollo saltado, tallarines verdes con pollo, and a chicha morada. The papa a la huancaína was decent, but it lacked the rich, flavorful sauce I was expecting. Unfortunately, the chicken in the tallarines verdes con pollo was undercooked. I let our server know, and when the dish was returned, the chicken had been cooked to the point that parts of it were charred black. I also wasn't impressed with the quality of the chicken, as I bit into hard pieces that caused me to spit out my food. The noodles themselves also lacked flavor, so I ended up leaving most of the dish untouched. The pollo saltado was the better of the two entrées, and we finished that plate. The chicha morada was refreshing and enjoyable. As for the sauces, the ají verde was mild and lacked flavor, while the ají panca was much better full of flavor with a nice kick of spice. The service was also just okay. There was one server handling the dining room, and while he wasn't unfriendly, the service felt very minimal. Overall, I really wanted to love the food based on the reviews, but I found it to be average. The portions, however, were generous. I left disappointed and don't plan to return. It's possible I simply ordered the wrong dishes, but since these are classic Peruvian staples, I expected them to be much more flavorful and better executed.

There are plenty of options here in old town Temecula.

The chicken was tender and well seasoned with soy without being too salty. There was a fair amount of onions and tomatoes which were stir-fried along with the meat.
