We've been to this restaurant many times. Food is pretty decent. But beware if you order anything extra expect to pay a very high price! Tuesday, 2-11-2025: My dear friend treated me here in celebration of my retirement. My daughter joined us later. We enjoyed the warm hospitality and the delicious food here. Lucy came over to check on us several times. She is so sweet & friendly. My friend has frequented this eatery for a while but it was a first time for me and my daughter. I love the decor and murals. I went to lunch today with my uncle and I told him that I want some good Mexican food. He said "Say no more" and brought me to Casa de Lucy. Right as we walked through the door, I knew that it would be some good food. We sat down and they were attentive right away. In California, it's hard to find a good salsa and they have one here. I'm used to a red salsa like Arizona and most places in California have pico style. My uncle has only eaten one thing at this restaurant and it's the Green Chili Plate. The portions here are large and the plates are hot. He says this is the best Green Chili in San Diego and he ate the whole thing. I decided to order the Chicharonnes Plate because it's a delicacy and something you can't find anywhere. The Chicharonnes were smothered in a spicy red sauce. I mixed it together with the beans, rice, salsa and slapped it into a flour tortilla. Near one of the best I've ever had. The service and staff here is very attentive, the food is amazing, and it has that little Mexican food charm. It's the type of atmosphere that you know the food will be good right as you walk on in. We've been coming here since my oldest was a baby and hes now 10. Its our go to place after church. My husband loves their Chile Verde and I love the surf and turf plate. I have 3 kids now and they all love the rice and my youngest, hes 3, lovesssss the beans. They also like the chicken that comes with the surf and turf. The ambiance and the people are always great. Went there as I was craving a good cheese enchilada and salsa. Lady sitting down (i believe the owner) said sit anywhere. Said something to another lady in spanish then came to table. I told her i wanted a cheese enchilada by itself. She asked what i wanted to drink and i told her i was fine as i had my bottle of water with me. She walked away. The other lady brought the chips and salsa with very few chips in there. The salsa was tasty and while I like hot salsa, I enjoyed it. I think it might be a little too hot for most people then enchilada came. It looked like canned sauce tasted like canned sauce little small for a seven dollar enchilada lady never came back to see if everything tasted OK if I need more salsa or anything else barely a minute after the enchilada was delivered she brought the check, then ignored me. Woke up in Temecula hungry after a long eve in Old Town. As always I began checking YELP reviews for Mexican food. It didn't take long to find Lucy's and the great reviews it had received. Lucy's is a bit hidden to the rear of a large shopping center. There's a sign by the street that's a bit faded but points you in the right direction. Parking is a plenty. You are immediately greeted once you walk in. I was the first customer of the day and literally helped by turning on the OPEN sign. My coffee came quick. Yes it was the great Mexican restaurant coffee that has a unique aroma and wonderful flavor. Chips and salsa were provided soon thereafter. The salsa was authentic and flavorful. One mild and one spicy were provided. The menu is easy to read and provides descriptions of each item. The prices are affordable. We soon tried chorizo and egg (real Mexican chorizo), Huevos Rancheros (amazing flavored yet not spicy sauce), Machaca (the meat was slightly grilled for great flavor), Chile verde burrito (wet of course) and a taco/ enchilada combination. ALL the food was SCRUMPTIOUS full of authentic flavors. It didn't take much to discover we were being waited on by Lucy herself. My Daughter and Grandson and myself looked up Mexican restaurants near our hotel and came up. Casa de Lucy had great reviews, so we decided to try it. We loved the decor inside, it was cozy and clean. The food we ordered was very good. I had a cheese enchilada plate, which included rice and beans. My grandson had a plate with a cheese, quesadilla, rice and beans, he loved the food. He is only 21 months and ate most of it. We ordered a small bowl of guacamole to go with the chips, salsa comes with the chips. The service was quick and the waitress was very friendly.
