Yum! I took my Work team to this place for a special treat, and it did not disappoint. I called ahead for our party of nine and they were ready when we got there. Each of us ordered different things across the menu so everyone can try the different dishes and nothing was less than stellar. I personally ordered. The tallarín verde with carne and it was phenomenal. I highly recommend this place.
Amazing service and staff! We came at a busy time on a Saturday. We were greeted right away and all the ladies were just so friendly especially our server Nuvia. The food was delicious and flavorful! 10/10!
We got the Combo marino- ceviche was good, fish in the middle tray was amazing, the rice was really good too. Lomo saltado- my girl said it was real good Chaufa taypa- i loved it. Better than any other place I have tried this dish at. Perfect blend of each ingredient. The sweet then spicy chiles that come on the side compliment this meal. Add the green sauce they serve and you have a fire worth fighting. I definitely recommend this dish if you stop by here. Tallarin verde con lomo- the lomo was delicious but the pasta was a little too harsh on the pesto. Still good though. Menu is limited but if you're into lomo you should give this place a try. They take good care of everyone that comes in. Small little spot that has calm energy and good vibes. Not a lot of space but a lot of flavor that will bring you back.
I have been wanting to try Peruvian food and I finally tried this spot. I ordered the Lomo Saltado dish and it's pretty good. I ordered online and the order was ready within 15 minutes. I wasn't too happy though with the minimal portion of tomatoes and the fries were a bit dry. However, the meat was really good and juicy. The green salsa it comes with pairs really well. It has a small kick so it's perfect if you're not used to spicy. There is plenty of parking outside, some outside seating , and plenty of indoor seating.
My husband and I came here for lunch yesterday and the food was great. We shared the potatoes in yellow bell pepper sauce appetizer, which we enjoyed, then I had the beef lomo saltado entree and he had the mixed seafood entree. Both entrees were good and the beef was tender. We also liked the passion fruit juice. We bought a box of 8 powdered sugar dulce de leche cookies to take home, and they had a nice flavor also. Cute Peruvian decor inside and friendly service. Not a huge place, so get there early if you want a table inside.
On our way home from an event, had a long drive, we were starving, yelped restaurants... this one came up... hmmm Peruvian food sounds great! The place is small, but full, they tell us we have to wait about 30 mins, they call us in about 15 mins later, wonderful! Love it when we get called before the expected time. We all got Lomo Salgado with either rice or linguine, because apparently that's what we were all craving. For appetizer we got papa à la huancaina, delicious and settled our hunger a bit. Food took some time, but don't mind if the food comes out hot... which it did! Yay! We all loved it, the green salsa was spicy and yummy and added so much flavor to our dishes. The service was great, friendly and attentive. We left happy, still tired, but satisfied! Delicious Peruvian food!
Good small little spot fish full of flavor portion was good and drink was on point. On the house the sauce and maíz.
The food is perfectly made and tastes AMAAZZZINGG with the servers being fast with great service. I'm especially happy to have a local shop that sells chica morada (purple corn juice) And the restaurant it self is a comfy and lax environment so it's a treat to eat there. If you work or live in the area, 100% worth trying this place
What a fantastic Peruvian spot. Came here randomly for lunch. Ordered to go. Cute little restaurant in an unassuming plaza. There aren't many Peruvian sports in the area so I've had my eye on Picante for a while and I'm kicking myself for not coming sooner. Ceviche - husband got the ceviche and said it was ok. I think maybe he was looking for something with a little more punch in flavor but liked that it was well made and fresh. Papas - these were really good. Potatoes were cooked to perfection. Nice thick, creamy slices. The sauce good. Just the right amount of seasoning to not be overpowering. Really creamy. I could eat a whole plate to myself. Tellarin Verde con Lomo - the star of the show. First of all, the steak was packed with wok hey. You could really taste the smokiness, which is key, in my opinion. Onions and peppers were equally cooked well. The linguine with the pesto was chef's kiss. The pesto sauce was just right. Balanced and paired perfectly with the lomo. I so much prefer this to the fries. The aji verde sauce had a nice citrusy punch with good heat. The spiciness doesn't linger, which is perfect. Really acts as the perfect brightness to cut through the rich meat and starch. Defiantly my new go-to Peruvian spot going forward. Everything we had here was amazing, though there's a lot more on the menu I'm looking forward to trying.
This spot is honestly some of the best Peruvian food I've ever had. My girl ordered their pesto pasta with steak and I ordered the steak. Everything was so delicious. We came in at 8:30 and they closed at nine but they were so welcoming. We were the only ones on a Thursday night. The atmosphere is nice. I really liked the decor and the music. I ordered a passionfruit drink and also got Jores to go. This was the first time my girl ever tried Peruvian food and she loved it. She said multiple times she's coming back.

This is a Peruvian restaurant just down the street from the Kaiser Permanente Ontario. The restaurant is smaller but can accommodate larger groups. The dining area is a very clean and comfortable. Once seated, an aji verde salsa and cancha was brought to the table. The cancha is a nice touch, the corn is crispy and light. I ordered the Pollo Saltado with an extra portion of rice and a Chicha Morada. The beverage was very refreshing. The meal came out quickly. The chicken was tender and well seasoned with soy without being too salty. There was a fair amount of onions and tomatoes which were stir-fried along with the meat. The fries were freshly made with a light crispy exterior and creamy interior to soak up the saltado sauce. The aji verde salsa was on the spicy side but tasted good as an accompaniment to the dish. There was plenty of sauce from the stir fry for the extra portion of rice I ordered. I plan on ordering the Lomo Saltado next time. The staff were polite and efficient. Plenty of parking in their lot. Definitely on the list for the next time I am in the area. read more
Very small, homey spot. The man that was working was very kind and patient as we ordered. He checked in on us during and also got us boxes toward the end of our meal. They give you corn nuts and a spicy sauce on the house. We tried the yuca fries which came with a cheese sauce and it was tasty. The ceviche had a perfect lime tang to it. I've only ever had Mexican ceviche so this one was different but delicious. There was sweet potato, red onion, corn and corn nuts. For the entrees, we tried the pesto pasta with beef. The pesto was a bit heavy but the beef was SOLID. So tender and flavorful especially if you drizzle the spicy sauce they give you at the start of the meal. The other dish we tried was the lomo saltado - beef with rice and fries. Also a very good option if you prefer rice/fries over pasta. read more
It was our first time at Picante! It's very rare to have a good Peruvian restaurant in this area, and we were a bit hesitant, but definitely glad we swung by! Parking is very easy and ample. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by their workers. There was a nice lady who seated the four of us towards the back. They had an AC machine blasting cold air in the back, and it was definitely needed on such a hot day. She was quick to give us waters, and after five minutes, she quickly came back to take our orders. Talk about efficient! She had also given us an appetizer to start our meal off: some nuts and a spicy green dip. It was a great start! We ordered the following: Yuca Fries - came out piping hot and crispy! They also paired it with a wonderful spice filled cheese dip. Platanos - also came out very hot with cripsy edges. Very sweet and ripe. Passion fruit Maracuya - tasted like passion fruit and was very refreshing! Tallarin Verde Con Lomo - The beef on top was to die for. It was juicy, savory, and tender. Absolutely fantastic! Their pesto and cheese on top of the pasta was fairly heavy. I was a bit disappointed with this dish. Tallarin Saltado De Pollo - Chicken was tender and well seasoned (though I preferred the beef). I actually liked the pasta on this dish more than the pesto - it was a bit salty, but kind of addicting to eat. You can taste the garlic and basil very well. Alfajores Box - I truly like these cookies more than the type of cookies I'd get at Porto's. These cookies are quite fragile, but absolutely fantastic. They're crumbly, sweet, and the center is perfection. For a box, you get 8 of them. Definitely worth the dime. My friends also ordered their seafood fried rice and another rice dish. I didn't taste theirs but I do have a photo! Their website states that this is the best Peruvian food in Ontario, and fortunately, I'd have to agree with them. When I come back, I'd definitely get their cookies and plantains again. Their Tallarin Saltado is also a must. Great atmosphere, clean restaurant, wonderful staff, and fantastic food! read more

Great food and service. Looks small from the outside but upon entering there is a good amount of seating. Dishes came out quickly and were all delicious. Portions were also large that we were able to take some home. Would recommend trying if you are looking for a new Peruvian spot! read more

Peruvian food is always so flavorful! I ordered the Tallarin Saltado with beef and the seafood rice, chaufa Mariscos. The green sauce was good, but not the best compared to other peruvian restaurants. It's more on the spicy side but still good to have a bit added to the dishes. If you want authentic, made to order Peruvian place you must try Picante. Its a little hole in the wall, but when you walk inside your welcomed with friendliness and simplicity. I typically go for the lomo saltado with plantains, yucca, and I get their little cookies to go. They do have a ceviche trio plate this is a burst of freshness in your mouth. I will say their price point is a bit high and keeps increasing it seems so I knocked off a star for that. Its hard to find consistently good Peruvian food but this one hits every time. read more
Had a great meal at Picante in Ontario -- a hidden gem if you're into Peruvian food with bold, vibrant flavors. I started with the Chicha Morada, and wow -- absolutely stunning. Super refreshing, not overly sweet, with that unique blend of purple corn, cinnamon, and fruit. Honestly one of the best I've had. The Ceviche de Pescado was another highlight -- super fresh fish, and the balance of acidity, texture, and flavor was spot on. The leche de tigre had just the right amount of citrusy kick without overwhelming the dish, and the mix of corn and sweet potato added great contrast. For the main, I had the Lomo con Tallarín Verde. The steak was tender and flavorful, and the green pasta sauce had that perfect creamy, herbal punch -- rich but not too heavy. It's a really satisfying combo of comfort and flavor. The space itself is casual and friendly, and service was attentive throughout the meal. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu -- the flavors here really stand out. read more

The last time I ate Peruvian food this great was in Peru. The complimentary corn nuts brought back nostalgia for Cusco. The ceviche and fried fish had a delicious flavor and the chaufa was excellent. I'm just sad I live so far away from this restaurant. read more

Okay the yellow one I had was delicious, too bad I didn't take note of what it was lol but it was so yummy I ate my leftover (big portion) for dinner and it was still as delicious! my friend had the green sauce one (sorry no names but the menu has pictures! lol) and I also had a taste and it too was so good! That fulfilled our Peruvian food craving for sure. We are definitely coming back. Loved the decor all around as well, attentive server. read more

Disappointed with the food. Ceviche needs improvement not quite sure if limes were used, not quite the salt point. Sweet potato was good. Overall: 5/10 Empanada: filling was a bit awkward, kinda old. Not enough sugar powder and black olives and egg white were found. The dough was good, though. Overall: 5/10 Lomo saltado: disappointed with the sauce had not enough soy, meat was sirloin but was not freshly cooked. Fries were good. Overall: 4/10 Although I did not have the aji de gallina, my son scored 6/10. Service was good, and ambiance, small place. Overall experience 5/10. read more

Picante is a Peruvian restaurant that I had an opportunity to experience about three years ago when they first opened. I thought I reviewed them, but I couldn't locate my review. Oh well...after dining there recently, I feel the quality of the food is still great and deserves another review. Six of us dinned here tonight and man, we all enjoyed our meals. My wife is a native of Peru and I've enjoyed many a meal cooked from her family members. I feel I'm a pretty good judge. The service here is top notch. It's family owned and you can tell they care about the customers. Casual yet elegant atmosphere made our dining experience perfect. Although we did find ourselves laughing a little too loud and someone from the kitchen poked their head out to check. "Sorry folks". Now to the food... The Lomo Saltaldo, a Peruvian restaurant signature dish, was great, Tender cuts of beef over sautéed red onions and tomatoes, with a scoop of rice and fries. Tallarin Saltado de pollo, linguine pasta with sautéed chicken, red onions, tomato, cilantro, green onions and in a delicious garlic and oyster sauce. The combination is heavenly. Tallarin Verde con Lomo, is the same , but served with beef instead of chicken over green pasta . Oh, so, good. Lomo A La Huancaina, linguine pasta cooked in a Huancaina sauce (like melted cheese), with tender cuts of delicious Lomo Saltado beef. This too was Devine. It's been a while since we had good Peruvian food . One of our chef friends recommended Picante to us. They open at 10:30am. We didn't have breakfast so we were pretty hungry by the time we arrived at 11am. The interior is simple and quaint with cool murals on the wall when you enter. We shared the Anticuchos de corazon to start. It was my first time having it but with the way the season and grill it, I just thought it was steak . We both got our "go to" Peruvian dishes; Lomo Saltado for me and Tallarin Verde con Lomo for my husband . We ate every last bit of our food, so delicious. Service was also super friendly. They're going to be opening a second location featuring Peruvian chicken in Upland so we're super excited for that. Can't wait... read more

Usually 5s but tonight Was extremely disappointing. Looked on yelp , and the website said they closed at 9pm. I drove twenty minutes out of my way because I love the food and I arrived at the counter at 833 ,on a Friday night TV told I could not eat inside.I could only get to go because they close at 9. If you're gonna stop serving people at 830 You should put that on your website. I got my food went outside and ate , and I was done by 9. Another customer walked in at 8:50 And Was refused service. In my opinion, that is very bad.Customer service. The girl was very nice and I understand she's following policy or maybe she just wants to go home, but that definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.. The food was exemplary delish! Every bite has exceeded our palates' expectations. It took a while but so worth it. Every dish was made to order. We didn't mind the wait at all cause everything was just so mouth watering. The place was clean and very inviting. The service was excellent!!!
