Thanks to Jason - our server and maitre'd - wonderful job during peak hrs of Mother's Day. He did everything for us perfectly from making sure that we were seated expeditiously; getting all our beverage orders correctly; providing suggestions in terms of quantity for our orders given that we were a group of eleven; and checking on us frequently to make sure we were happy at every stage of our experience. The staff were great from the kitchen to the food and beverage couriers. I was expecting a lower quality of food given the 100% capacity they were working with on Mother's Day but it was the same quality we were uss to when we would come in smaller groups and off peak times. We patronize Micas fairly regularly. Most recently, we visited in February for lunch. The food is routinely very good, but on this visit it was even better. Super tasty and fresh. We had the Loma Saltaldo and mixed empanadas. Both items were fantastic. Regarding the service, it was average, and could be improved by the servers checking in more frequently to refill drinks and see if customers need anything thing else. Their food is really good. For appetizers we always get the ceviche mixto. It is just too delicious not to try. Service is usually great. This last time I went I don't remember the guys name but he was great. Served my drink but it didn't taste right to me so he made me a different one to make sure I got something I liked. He was on point. The lomo saltado never disappoints. Just tried the picada de mariscos I think it was called or something. It was very good. Especially adding their amazing spicy sauce.! This place has good ambience, never gets too rowdy and lets you enjoy your food with your table. The tallarin de pollo is also highly recommended by my nephew. Discovered this place on accident but I am so happy i did. Peruvian spots are pretty rare in of their own, but a good one is even more rare. The food here us spot in and the portions can definitely feed two per plate. The service was fast, straight forward, and they are respectful. Peruvian restaurant near the Haven City Market food hall. It looks small from the outside but is fairly spacious inside with tables that can accommodate both small and large parties. The restaurant itself is located toward the back of the property away from the food court. I ordered Pollo Saltado, Trio de Empanadas as an appetizer, and Chicha Morada to drink. A complimentary warm dinner roll and butter comes with the meal as well as a small container of aji verde. The empanadas consisted of one each of beef, chicken, and cheese. There was a light sprinkling of powdered sugar which I found strange as a topping for a savory appetizer. However, the empanadas came very hot from the fryer, had flaky crusts, and tasted satisfactory. Chicha Morada was refreshing and can be ordered by the pitcher as well as by the glass. The Pollo Saltado tasted good with a nice, soy sauce flavor. It was not too salty. The dish had the perfect ratio of fries and vegetables to protein. Unfortunately, the chicken breast meat it was made with was slightly dry. I would have much preferred dark meat chicken in the preparation. The aji verde sauce did not have much of a heat level but helped to overcome some of the dryness of the chicken. We had lunch here and let me see. The food is absolutely outstanding. We ordered tallarín verde with the breaded chicken and the leche de tigre and both dishes exceededour expectations. The tallarín had so much flavor and went paired with the light green salsa. They give you to add on top. It pushed it over the edge of great flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a great texture. The leche de tigre was so delicious and milky. The corn nuts that we added into the ceviche made it the perfect combination of cold and crunchy. I'm taking off one star because our waitress wasn't as attentive as she could've been in at times we felt like the service wasn't great. However, the food was delicious. My only suggestion is that the the waiters and waitresses check in on the customers a little bit more during the meal. Overall, it's a clean place with amazing food. read more

The service was not good this time, we always go there and the food and service is always good but today I was very disappointed. Our waiter left for the day and nobody came to check on us till 15 mins after. They dropped our food, I asked for a box and another 15 mins goes by and without anybody. I asked to speak with the one in charged and he said his name was Victor, he said he didn't know our waiter left. How are you in charge of when you don't know your staff. The food was not tasty, the ceviche was bitter, like the lemon was squeezed with the peeling. My pesto spaghetti was dry . This was my second visit to the restaurant. My first experience was great, especially the sweet plantains, which brought me back. This time, I ordered grilled shrimp and three orders of sweet plantains. Unfortunately, the plantains were burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. When I called to provide feedback, I was told that's how they normally serve them. I also asked to speak with a manager, but the manager declined to speak with me. I love Peruvian food so when my coworkers brought me here I was way excited! Everything is very authentic and they have a wide variety of menu selection to choose from. Their iced tea is amazing and it is fresh brewed. The restaurant itself seem small from the outside, but it's pretty big on the inside with lots of tables and seats, great for large parties or if you're eating by yourself. The staff is friendly, but I noticed that they can be quite slow. I will still come back because the dishes here are just too good. I ordered Lomo saltado, a popular Peruvian stir-fry, was savory with will balanced sauce and the beef was tender, fries a bit soggy from the sauce, but still we're all very delicious one of my favorite Peruvian dishes that I will continue to order. We came out here since it was around the corner where we were at and wanted to celebrate the Peruvian way. We got anticuchos, ceviche de pescado, lomo saltados, chicha morada, arroz con pollito y papa la huanciana, jalea de mixto, y lucuma. Everything was delicious. The ceviche was okay. It was the first time I tried mahi mahi as the protein for the ceviche. The leche of the Tigre was alittle too sour. I enjoyed the diverse options on the menu. It def satisfied those cravings and presentation of the food was pretty. For my Arroz con Pollito y papa la hucaina, it was pretty good-the boiled egg and Olive was missing from the dish. The anticuchos were so good as an appetizer. We def wanted to order more of that dish. Service was great! They were very attentive and were able to provide recommendations. This is our family's go-to Peruvian spot. We are Peruvian American and love find the best of the best when it comes to Peruvian cuisine. Mica's bets out most in the IE. The portions are decent size, price is fair but the flavor - this is what makes it special. It's hard to replicate the authentic Peruvian flavors. It's also common for most restaurants to replace produce, spices and herbs with more common American/ Mexican options (i.e. ajis, aji verdes). Service is usually pretty good; however, it can get busy during dinner and/or weekend rush. We appreciate that the servers have been there for a while and usually recognize us since we are long time supporters. Ambiance is fine- nothing fancy. It's casual dining and it isn't the biggest restaurant. Some of our favorite dishes - Lomo Saltado de Carne, Tallarin Saltado de Carne, Papa La Huancaina, the ceviche is to die for. Our first time here, the food, service, and ambience were so impressive that we just know we'll be back. Our party of 4 chose to sit outside since we could avoid a wait. We really enjoyed the quiet, roomy backyard vibe. Sometimes when seated outside in restaurants, service can be lacking due to distance. But not here! Our waiter was so on it! We had the best experience and the owner Victor was just lovely. I searched this place out because I wanted to try Lomo Saltado a beautiful Peruvian dish that has a little Asian flair. I had never had this but a friend asked me to make it. So I had this and my Husband had steak and salad which was very good, we also tried the Peruvian version of cerviche, super delicious with key lime red onion, chili and coconut milk and finished with ice cream and churros. It's a nice place, beautifully kept and clean, you have a good feeling there. We will come back because the food is so fresh, it has a clean taste and an exciting different taste and feel, Mexican we love but it just can't touch this. I've been a loyal fan of Mica's in Rancho for years and always told everyone they're the best Peruvian spot in Southern California. I've tried so many places and nothing ever beat them. Today's visit really disappointed me. Our total was about $80 for three people, and I called ahead to order pollo saltado with white chicken breast, but my plate came out all dark meat. They did offer a two-week redemption, which I appreciated, but toward the end of my meal I pulled a piece of hair out of my mouth -- and that completely turned me off. It just feels like the standards aren't what they used to be, which is sad to say after supporting them for so long. I won't be redeeming the credit, and I won't be coming back. UPDATE 11/25 9p.m. The manager reached out afterward and explained that they've spent 12 years keeping their standards as high as possible, cooking everything from scratch with fresh ingredients, working with the best suppliers, and having cooks who treat the food like craftsmanship. Long overdue review for Micas; one of my go-to stops for Peruvian food! I got the lomo saltado, and it was incredible. The beef was tender, seasoned just right, and full of flavor. The food here is consistently good and keeps us coming back, but unfortunately the service hasn't matched that same level. Theres a young lady who served us a few times with such a warm, inviting personality, she always made sure we were taken care of and really stood out. I like Mica's Peruvian a lot. I've been quite a few times, but this most recent visit of mine was just a bit disappointing. The check came out to about $75 before tip for three people. Two of us ordered the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken with Peruvian Beans and Fries, the other got the Peruvian Fried Rice, and we shared an order of Fried Plantains as an appetizer. Our mains were pretty fantastic, the fries were hot and crisp and the beans were super hot temperature wise. However, the chicken breast was a tad dry. The Fried Plantains we ordered as an appetizer also came out well, except the centers of each plantain felt slightly frozen, which made me question their freshness. Also, a staff member was hovering over us while we were preparing the tip, which made us all feel a little on edge. All in all, not a bad experience, but some things could be improved. This is the 4th time we go here and the food is Amazing!! However, we get ignored every single time. No one asks if we need a refill or anything. I stood up and walked to the register to ask for a refill. Second time I got up to ask for to go containers. Our server walked right past me both times and completely ignored us. There's lots of hype for this place, went with some friends, had to check it out. The Aji Verde green peruvian sauce wasn't as spicy as other Peruvian restaurants. Ordered the Mixto grilled combo, the one with grilled chicken, shrimp and steak. The chicken was overcooked and kinda hard and the steak was overcooked too, so make sure to let the chef know how you like it. The waiters were not nice as well, debating if ever will go back there. If I do go back there, might try their rotisserie chicken, it was sold out when I went, so would call in before you go, if you are a rotisserie chicken lover. read more
