I've been to Lucho's twice. The first time was a few years ago for a lunch with some family that were driving from Las Vegas back to LA. When we got there, the staff were making some kind of soup that wasn't on the menu, and they shared it with us. The second time I was just craving some Lomo Saltado and wandered in there the other day. . . . Lucho himself was sitting at a table and asked if I wanted him to cook for me. I said yes, and he made my Lomo Saltado and sat with me for a while while I ate. Delicious!!!!! The place is very hole in the wall, which is not always a bad thing. We were the only table in the establishment and we were there around 630 pm on a Thursday night. The owner explained the menu to us and we ordered with him before sitting down. We ordered two orders of papa la huancaina and 2 orders of lomo saltado. Both were delicious. Only critique I had was the lomo had a bit too much gravy in it so things got a bit soggy towards the end of the bowl they served us in. We picked our drinks out of a fridge they had. It appears the restaurant is sharing the space with another restaurant at the same time. Both the owner and his wife were very friendly and hospitable and checked on us often. It is a bit expensive but everywhere is it seems these days. The total with two drinks came out to 71.00. Would I return, yes I would. Would I recommend to others, maybe, maybe not. Talk about hidden gems, this place is in a business center next to a bunch of commercial businesses and the only restaurant in sight. Thankfully we found them through yelp and reviews were spot on. I was a little worried at first since there really wasn't may customers during peak lunch and I saw the fries coming from the freezer and not house made, but the food and service was spectacular. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the owner helped us through the menu. He recommended the lomo saltado and we were glad he did. Was the best dish for me. Had an Asian flair like teriyaki which made the difference. The fries were great too in this dish. Even the white rice was great. Perfect. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice which had large shrimp and was the second best dish followed closely by the chicken tallarín saltado and fried plantains. Don't forget the salsa. I almost kept this to myself, but Lucho deserves to be reconciled . Listen to me closely, Rancho Cucamonga. We need to have a serious talk about the absolute wizardry happening right under your noses. ‍ I almost didn't write this review. I seriously debated gatekeeping this spot because I'm terrified that once you all find out about it, the line will be wrapped around the block and I'll never get a table again. But, my therapist tells me I need to be more "sharing," so here we are. This place is the definition of a Hidden Gem. And the man running the show? Lucho. We need to protect Lucho at all costs. Not only is he the owner, but he is also a culinary artist and arguably the one of the nicest human being in the Inland Empire. I have rolled in with a big party (don't ask, long day), and despite the space being on the smaller, cozy side, Lucho didn't blink. He helped us fit everything in like a game of Tetris. The place is spotless, by the way. You could eat off the floor, but please don't, because the plates are much better. A Warning/Disclaimer: If you are in a rush and need food in 3 minutes, go to a drive-thru. This is not fast food; this is fresh food. Everything is made to order. There are no sad heat lamps here keeping burgers warm since 10 AM. Relax, sit down, and wait. It is worth every single tick of the clock. Let's talk about the food (I'm getting emotional just typing this): The Lomo Saltado (The Star): I have eaten Lomo Saltado all over. But Lucho's? It's a flavorful experience. He cooks the steak to absolute perfection--tender, juicy, no chewing gum texture here. But the magic is in the seasoning and how it hits those fries and onions. It is worth every penny. I would pay double. Don't tell him that. Aeropuerto de Pollo (Chicken Fried Rice): I know, I know. You're thinking, "It's just chicken fried rice." WRONG. Stop it. It sounds crazy to rave about rice, but this dish is savory, smoky, and addictive. I planned to eat a few bites and take the rest home. I failed. I ate it all. The Chow Mein: Traditional? Yes. Boring? Absolutely not. There is a "minor twist" in the flavor profile that I can't quite put my finger on, but it makes the dish absolutely sing. It's out of this world. Mar y Tierra: If you can't decide between surf or turf, get this. It's the best of both worlds and plated beautifully. I love small businesses like this. This Peruvian jewel is located in a business park so follow your GPS. This family owned restaurant is small so please be patient. The dining room was full so the owner/chef asked we wouldn't mind sitting outside and we said no worries. He grabbed a folding table and two chairs and gave us a perfect set up outside. It was a gorgeous day so it was delightful. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was delicious! My husband had a dish which looked like fried rice and noodles with chicken - Aeropuerto de Pollo and it was a yummy combination of ingredients. However, the star of the show was the green chili sauce (which looked homemade). It was spicy, flavorful but not too hot. We got our own drinks which felt homey. Yes!!!! Today I was craving Peruvian food. I didn't want to drive 30+ minutes to Covina. I went on Yelp and found this place. I tried the Lomo Saltado and a noodle dish with shrimp. It was delicious! The place was packed and service was speedy. I've been living out here for 10+ years and have never seen/heard of this place. It's 5 minutes from me! I ordered 2 lomo Salvador from here about $20 a plate, via phone. The company offered to put them together in one tray, which I agreed to. I did not specify for Togo or dine and wasn't asked on the phone. I get there and food is ready to take Togo. We decided we wanted to eat there and I asked if we would be able to eat there and was told "No, if you ordered Togo, you have to take the food to go",by the owner Lucho, which I felt was pretty rude. I was never specific that we wanted the food to go. I only asked so we can get some plates and forks to eat. I did not expect the place the re-plate the order. Additionally, there was no one there eating at all, it was not busy and there was plenty of tables for my family of 4. A small restaurant in an office/industrial area. We came at night and the entire area was so dark, we were not sure it was the correct location. They only had an OPEN sign lights on. The restaurant was run by an older guy who took order, cooked and took the payment. He had an assistant. Both of them were very nice The restaurant was small but homey. It was clean. I really wanted this to be my new Peruvian spot. They show an "A" rating but I think they really need a good cleaning. The cashier area needs to be cleaned. (The entire restaurant really). The Lomo Saltado was way too salty. Had good flavor but left there with my lips tingling from the salt and feeling funny from all the salt. Their beverage station also needs to be cleaned up and the machine properly serviced. I will try them again sometime soon in hopes that they read this and make corrections. read more

I haven't ventured to much when it comes to Peruvian food. I am a fan of there ceviches though. I came across Luchos on accident. There was a lot of traffic on the road I was on so I turned on this side street, heading to a different Peruvian restaurant, but then my Yelp said this place was closer. It's in an area you wouldn't expect a restaurant to be in, maybe a small deli. It's not impressive when you walk in, and the menu is on the wall with hardly any description of what you are getting. So it's like a grab bag if you aren't familiar with the style of food. My dishes were so freaking good though! I ordered fried yuca, saltado con pollo, and the fried fish. They have one lady cooking and Don Lucho taking orders. The food was so full of flavor and fresh! The pollo dish had sautéed chicken with this gravy sauce and tomatoes with French fries mixed in. It sounds weird and first impression is WTH, but man that was a very tasty and savory dish. I'm glad I stumbled on this place. Also, Don Lucho has a son who is a Navy Officer, so please support Don Lucho. He is proud of his son! read more

We have been coming to one of Luis's restaurants for decades. He's a great chef and person. We always get a Calamari Frita appetizer because they are great here and one of the Saltado dishes (pollo or Lomo or both). Sometimes we will try other things but he makes these dishes better than any other Peruvian restaurant we have been to. The place is just a little hole in the wall but the food well makes up for it.
