Met a former coworker here for lunch and it was delicious! The space used to be a Mexican restaurant. We went right when they opened so we were the first ones there. We were seated in a comfy booth by the front window. The menu was pretty extensive, for a Peruvian restaurant! We were given room temperature bread with a watery, light green cream dip. Very tasty. I ordered my favorite: anything with huancaina! I got the spaghetti a la huancaina with slow cooked beef and it was DELICIOUS! The portion was huge, I had other take half of it home! Coming off Mt. Baldy the first weekend after a snow with a baby and a toddler. We just wanted food and to never do that again. We found this place on our way home and since we love Peruvian food we decided to give it a try. We got sat down quickly, despite it being the weekend and prime time. Ordered the Leche de Tigre mixto, lomo Saltado, airopuerto, and kids pollipapas. Leche de Tigre was 10/10 just wish it was bigger lomo saltado was as good as anywhere else Kids Pollipapas was a lot of food and very flavorful for a kids meal. Came here for lunch and loved the fried Peruvian corn that was complimentary. The summer bowls are a great deal: healthy, authentic choices, all for $15! I had the fish ceviche bowl and the marinade was delicious. My friend ordered the aji de gallina: fabulous, delicious! She liked the food so much she ordered two other meals to go. A few months ago my running club met at Micas Restobar and we ate after our run. The food was so good I decided to come back and bring my family so that they can try it. Right now they have the place decorated with Valentine's Day decorations. The food is really good, my favorite is the lomo saltado. The food is full of flavor, meat is super tender and portions are big. My daughter ordered the coconut margarita and it was better than my mojito. Service was great and the food came out pretty fast. We were able to sit in the back where it was nice and private. Looking forward to coming again soon! read more

We got the lomo saltado and the chaufa de pollo. Both were very good, but the first was exceptional! We could have easily shared it and not gotten the second meal at all. In fact, we ended up putting most of the second meal in a to-go box and sharing it for lunch the next day! Only complaint is that the prices are quite high, but I suppose if we only got one fish instead of two, it would have been okay. read more

I've only had Peruvian food a handful of times, so I'm definitely not as practiced in this cuisine but I was very impressed. Staff was very attentive and food came out quickly. My favorite dish was the potato appetizer that had a creamy eggy sauce. My mariscos plate was full of flavor and very generous with the fish & shrimp portioning. Next time I'll be trying the ceviche. There's a large parking lot and no wait on a Friday night. They have a bar which looked worth checking out as well. read more

First time at Micas... good outcome! We will return! Wife and I both had their Lomo Soltado. Traditional and flavorful, no doubt! Service was also good and attentive. Went on a Friday night and they had a jazz musician... volume and tempo was perfect. All in all, we both enjoyed our first visit. We do miss Domis in Upland. The sauce in their Lomo was more robust... perhaps they used dark soy sauce in theirs. There's definitely flavor difference between regular soy sauce vs dark soy sauce. read more

Mica's is one of the best Peruvian restaurants I have been to and I have been to many. The service is always excellent as is the food. My favorite dish is the Seco de Res. Their Aji de Gallina is sublime and the Ceviche de Pescado nice and spicy. read more

Best Peruvian food outside of Peru and I've eaten at all the best ones in the U.S. Nothing comes close to the flavor, huge portions, and great service here. Second visit was last week while my son and his girlfriend were in town, and unfortunately it didn't live up to our first experience. The ambiance definitely helped, the drinks were good (especially the chicha morada), and the appetizers were excellent -- the empanadas were a standout. But then the 4 lomo saltados came out, and that's where things fell flat. We came back mainly because of how much we enjoyed that dish on our previous visit, but this time it just didn't hit the spot. Out of my guests, 3 were not impressed at all. It honestly felt inconsistent, like maybe there was a different chef in the kitchen. One thing we did notice was narco corridos playing loudly in the kitchen, which felt a little odd for the vibe of a Peruvian restaurant. Maybe unrelated, maybe not -- but something was definitely off compared to our last visit. Service was great, and the staff took good care of us... although we were also the only people in the restaurant on a Saturday night, which was a little surprising. Really hoping this was just an off night, because our first visit was strong enough to bring us back. I'd still give it another try and hope it's better next time read more

Whoever takes their phone orders deserves a medal because not only is she friendly, she is patient and personable too. I usually feel stressed placing an order this way because typically the person on the other end rushes you to get to the next caller. Not these folks. The food is authentic and delicious but I do feel a little disappointed that my leche de tigre mixto was filled with corn and the leche de Tigre sauce and very little of the fish, or shrimp or squid. There was barely any seafood in it. For $16 (not sure how much it is because they didn't give me a receipt either). Same issue with the arroz con mariscos. On the menu, it's supposed to have shrimp, calamari and mussels. Mine did have shrimp but not the other types of seafood. That was a big letdown for a dish that cost well over $20 (I think). I didn't feel like I got the full value of what I paid. Another thing I noticed is they put powdered sugar on their meat empanadas. I guess it's a thing? The other Peruvian restaurants I go to don't do this so this is definitely unique to them. Next time I'll ask them to hold the powdered sugar. But they've only been open for 3 weeks so I'm sure they are ironing out some of the kinks. As with all other new businesses, they're finding their feet and I'm sure that with time, they would've hopefully addressed the issues I raised. It has so much promise! I'm so happy for La Verne to have this addition to its roster of wonderful restaurants. And I look forward to frequenting Mica's in the years to come. read more

Be aware that they over charge for nothing. I was there with 3 kids and 3 adults and they included a $30.64 fee labeled big parties. They are not friendly and do not provide great customer service. Newly opened Peruvian spot in La Verne. I am glad that we got an influx of South American cuisines in the area. For food alone, I would give it a 3 out of 5. They picked top sirloin as their main cut choice of beef protein. It's a very economical cut in high inflation California but the tenderness is very hard to nail. The beef in lomo Saltado and the Tacu Tacu is a bit tough, salty and overcooked. My girl said it's a little dry. And we all know when she said it is dry, life no good. The Ceviche is good but the lime part of the sauce is a bit overpowering. My favorite part of the spot is the house cilantro green sauce. It's 11/10. Perfectly balanced. Why we decided to give it a 4? Well, it's a new spot. Deserve some love from everyone especially for us, South American food lovers. Come and support this local business. We stumbled upon this hidden gem in Laverne. The ambiance was cute and casual, the food was really good. The server Skye was very friendly and guided us through the menu and recommended a few popular dishes. We had never had Peruvian food before so everything we ordered was different and so delicious! We had yucca as an appetizer and were pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The entrees we had were the Lomo Saltado and the Tallarin Saltado de carne, a passion fruit blended margarita and a Peruvian beer. The food did not disappoint! If you aren't familiar with anticuchos I would definitely recommend them. It sounds intimidating cause it's beef heart but these were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. This popped up on my feed and I got it first. Say it's a 10 out of 10. I didn't expect too much as I've had different Peruvian restaurants in the past in this one by far is the best I've ever had. The fried rice is very flavorful being Chinese ate a lot of fried rice. This was made perfectly with just the right amount of wok Hei. I got the rose con Rico, and there was a lot of seafood and the flavors were nice. I've had a touch more salt. The favorite dish here was the spaghetti with pesto and beef. I got the beef fried and it was the right decision. It was very tender and flavorful to help balance the pasta sauce. The service was just OK as right when we came. No one was there to greet us and see us however after a couple minutes, I'll be able to wave somebody down. Once we proceeded, the waiter was very nice and surf as well. The interior looks better than the exterior and it decorated very nice. I definitely wanna come back and try more. I've been sitting for another 10 minutes trying to pay my check. My dad and I came here on the way back from a weekend getaway and maybe it was just that it wasn't the live music night (which I would've loved), but I felt like it was kind of a dead atmosphere. Everything was clean and tidy and nice staff but nonetheless just not any type of character or charm to the place. I had the Lomo Saltado which was good but it just didn't feel like anything special. The service was not so good, the waiter only took our order and brought us the food. They never asked us how we were or if we needed anything. Finally, they charged us 18% for big parties when we were only 5 people (I didn't like that). The menu says they will charge 18% for serving 6 or more. Wow! So impressed to have this establishment open up in this area. It has a fancy yet relaxed vibe. The food is delicious. The staff are friendly and not too in your business, letting you enjoy your experience. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity. My husband and I had been wanting to try Micas for a while. We love Peruvian food, and Micas did not disappoint! We went at 6:00 p.m. on a Sunday night, and we were seated immediately. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere that makes it good for date night or a group dinner. They also have a separate party room that seats about 30 (according to the waiter whom we asked). The food was absolutely delicious! We had Chicharrón de Calamar as an appetizer; I had the Tallarin Saltado de Mariscos as my entree, and my husband had the Saltado de Mariscos. We both loved our meals, and the portions were HUGE. My entree was enough for two huge meals. Our server was attentive at first, and then we couldn't find her when we were finished with our meal, but we saw that she had apparently been assigned to the big party in the party room, so we just flagged down another server to pay our bill.
