My husband got the chilaquiles, he has they were flavorful and the chips were crispy & everything was fresh. I ordered the enchiladas, the sauce was tasty and the chicken was delicious. I was worried it would be boiled chicken but the chicken had onions and good spices. The rice was so yummy!! The margarita was a good size, perfectly sweet and the chamoy rim was a yummy touch. We were the only people in the restaurant, they open at 9 & we got there at 9:03. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Early this year our visit to Origen Mexican Cuisine....We decided to dine in instead of takeout, the carne en su jugo was absolutely packed with flavor, warm, savory, and the kind of dish that feels like true comfort food. Perfect! The wine-based cantarito paloma was a fun twist on a classic and beautifully presented. Great balance of citrus and spice with that Tajín rim but would prefer tequila instead of the fake stuff lol JUST SAYING... Service was friendly, not too attentive but ok, the ambiance was relaxed and catered to our kiddo by putting on a movie for him that was kind of them.... Very pleasantly surprised by Origen. Tiny parking lot with limited space made me wary when we arrived. However the food was excellent, as was the service. Our server was appropriately attentive, she even offered a hotter salsa when I commented on how much I enjoyed the one we had been given. Both salsas were excellent tho the first had great flavor along with adequate heat for my liking. My hardshell beef tacos were exceptional. My fellow diners enjoyed their meals as well. I will definitely return. Need to give a burrito an opportunity to impress me as well. Origen has only been here for four months but they are on a good path. I recommend sticking to smaller groups. The total wait time for our group was 2 hours before seeing any food besides chips and salsa. Seems pretty common to serve kids milder salsa but they gave us adults the mild and kids the super hot salsa. It was very frustrating while we watched a few tables arrive after us, get served and leave before we saw any of our entrees come out. Food was ok but after waiting that long I'd expect it would be served hot. I hoped for amazing after waiting for so long. One of our friends only ordered beans and she was the last to be served. We were celebrating our friend's graduation sadly it just fell short as a restaurant choice. After this experience it may be a long while before attempting a second visit. read more

Origen is right down the street from my house. This is where I go when I want home made Mexican food. I love to order the carne asada bean and cheese burrito! Asada tacos are always part of my order. The service is excellent, and the owner takes the time to stop at every table to ask how you're doing . I read an earlier review that the recently-opened Origen restaurant had a Taco Tuesday special, so I thought this would provide the perfect opportunity (excuse?) to pop in and check the place out. Hey, who can resist a Taco Tuesday deal? My wife and I both agree that it was well worth the visit. From the complimentary chips and salsa served upon being seated through our final bites, we had a wonderful lunch! Indeed, Origen is currently running a $1.99 Tuesday taco deal with a choice of four proteins (asada, carnitas, chicken, or fish) along with several other daily specials throughout the week. I ordered one of each along with a raspberry iced tea. These are of the smaller "street taco" size, but all were generously loaded with their respective proteins and ingredients - and, unlike many restaurants that customarily run such specials, the meat wasn't gristly nor fatty. To illustrate my satisfaction, let me add that I ordered three more tacos when finished with the first quartet! I also enjoyed the accompanying red sauce, though my wife found it a little too spicy for her (unlike the salsa with the chips). In terms of ambiance, the restaurant has two dining areas with the back section containing several large televisions (four, I believe) strategically placed to make it the perfect venue for watching sports. Festive Ranchera music plays in the background and the tables and booths appear to be new (despite the location previously serving stints as a burger joint and then a Thai restaurant over its many years). Our server was friendly and efficient, stopping by several times during our meal to ensure any needs were met. Having visited in the early afternoon, it wasn't real busy; however, I appreciated that a nearby table was immediately cleaned after that party left. I also spoke with a gentleman (who I believe is the owner) about the alcohol situation since Origen only serves beer and wine currently. Long term plans appear to include a possible bar area. We noticed there were many take-out orders being picked up while we were there, so Origen appears to be cultivating a loyal clientele. We look forward to our own future visits to sample some of the selections on their regular menu. Good Mexican food, good weekday deals, and good service = a return with good friends. Origen Mexican Cuisine Restaurant is in their "soft" opening phase, however, they are open 7 days a week from 9AM to 9PM, I think that's a pretty good start. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, and Children's menus were displayed on the hostess station. I saw many of my favorite dishes on the entree menu: Huevos Rancheros, Chicken in Mole, Chili Verde, Enchiladas, etc. These items were availble as a combo (with rice and beans). Average price $18 per person. I ordered the Sope Platter, comes with 3 sopes (no rice and beans). But, it was not available. As an alternate, I looked for a taco plate, but tacos were only listed ala carte for $5.99 each. The server indicated, he could request two tacos as a combo (with rice and beans). I ate one Birria taco (slightly crisp corn tortilla) and one of Carne Asada (two soft corn tortillas). $12.00, no extra charge for adding rice and beans. The food was very tasty, the Birria taco was jammed packed with meat and flavor. The Carne Asada was served in two soft corn tortillas, which is traditional for street tacos. A dab of Guacamole would have been extra delicious, I will request it next time. The restaurant has two dining rooms that could accommodate close to 100 guests. The rooms have a nice appearance with flowers, ceramic and pottery decorations. The food was delicious, the portions were good. I would return to try the Entrees in the near future. You cannot dip a tortilla into rubber and scoop any food. The chorizo is nice. The cheese has to be soupy enough to dip a chip. The tacos were over-fried so the shell was greasy. But the salsa was good. Please make your food better. You can!! It's not that difficult. The place is very clean and prices reasonable, but until you make your food better. I live a mile away from this new place and decided to look at the reviews which prompted me to go there today. Too bad they don't have six stars or even 10! The food was outstanding. I got the chili Colorado and had the best red chili sauce I've ever tasted. Our waitress Neyva was also outstanding, very thoughtful and gracious. They have the coldest beer I've ever had colder than a ice chest beer. I also got a Michilada without ice. It was outstanding. I will definitely go back and recommend this place to my family and friends. One more thing I never order corn tortillas, but when she told me they were homemade, I had to try them in the future when I go there, I will only eat their corn tortillas. The music...A lil louder please...I understand that people need to be able to hear when having a conversation, however, it's a Mexican Restaurant and we need to hear the music as well, let's meet in the middle:) Other than that....Everything else was great. For me, it's the service that makes my experience satisfactory. I took my daughters to pre-celebrate Mother's Day. I was Very disappointed! Especially on the food, we ordered kids hamburger plate(the patty was burn), Chile relleno plate(the cheese is not the correct one , the beef taquitos plate were ok and the huevo a la mexicana plate( the tradicional have eggs,onions,tomatoes and jalapeño., this plate had eggs,red & yellow bellpeppers). For a new restaurant we really enjoyed our time here! The service was attentive by all staff and they even gave us complimentary homemade quesadillas because the place had multiple families eating. Our Molcajete was so delicious and the strawberry margaritas were so refreshing. Horchata was also refreshing and sweet!! They give fresh warm tortillas whenever you run out and overall I would give Origen a chance. Always be kind towards new restaurants and I hope this one stays! This place just recently opened. My running group met up here on Monday and they were able to accommodate 20 plus people. The parking lot is fairly small and they share it with other businesses. I ended up parking at the Starbucks parking lot and just walking over. This place has potential to be great, there's plenty of food options on the menu. I ordered a tostada de ceviche de camarón and it was a descent size, the taste was really good I didn't have to add anything to it and I got a blended strawberry margarita. The chips they give are nice and crispy and fresh. I also ended up ordering my son a side of frijoles de la olla and they tasted home made. I will be back to try some of their other food. My wife and I decided to try this new restaurant in San Dimas called Origin Mexican Cuisine. I was expecting it to be remodeled, however it really was not much different than when the Thai restaurant was there, or B&J's restaurant before it. It is not their fault that they have such a small parking lot, but it can only accommodate about 10 cars and really there's no other place to park unless you go to 1st street where the undercover Sheriff's Department is, or park by the Walker house. The initial service was good, but the restaurant was incredibly quiet and not very festive. We received the menus, and comparative to the other Mexican restaurants in our area, it seemed a little pricey--we decided to try it anyway. My wife ordered sopes: chicken, birria, and carne asada. I ordered a chile relleno a la carte. There was no price for my a la carte item, or a price for any of their beverages. They had no beer on draft, which is strange because restaurants make more money from that, then they do the bottled beer. We finished our chips, but it was a while before the camarera came around and offered more chips. The salsa is very flavorful, but not spicy at all. When the food came, my wife said the sopes were good, but the masa was too hard. She ate the carne asada, birria, and chicken but not the actual sope. My chili relleno looked good, but when I cut into it, it was cool on the inside, the cheese was not melted and the chili was cool. it seemed that it had been sitting in the back probably waiting for them to finish my wife's sopes. I ordered one bottle of beer but that was it. I really hope this restaurant changes its level of food service. I am afraid however, if it does not, it is not going to make it with the San Dimas clientele. When I was in there, the other people did not feel like the San Dimas clientele--more like a place that I would find on Town Ave. or Holt in Pomona. When you have Mexican restaurants like Casa del Rey, or Las Palmas in the area, a business must really step it up to compete with them. I wish them the best. They told us they were going to have a grand opening with Mariachi music which again probably would be good for a different area. read more

October 11, 2025. Came today for the first time today. Saw some other reviews so we thought we would try it. Food was good. Salsa was really good. They don't have a complete liquor license so we were disappointed. We wanted to get some margaritas, but they only had wine margaritas. No thanks. So we just got a couple of bottles of beer. I had a chicken burrito my wife had a Chile Rellano. My only complaint with this place is they really like to use sour cream and onions a lot. Like in EVERYTHING. That doesn't work with me because I despise both sour crème and onions. So you have to tell them to leave that out of every little thing. other than that, no complaints. Parking is not great. Super small lot with just a few spaces. We had to park in the back and walk a little bit no big deal though. I will come here again. Support small restaurants! My Photos below. read more

this place has great potential. I wouldn't say the food was amazing but it didn't taste bad. I will say their horchata is 11/10 spot on and hand made served in a large cup. Exactly how I like horchata to taste, not too sweet and has the rice flavor In total we ordered the chilaquiles and quesabirria tacos The chilaquiles were good, the salsa was not spicy and was just okay. I loved the chips they used. I did not like the rice or beans, they tasted very dry and premade? My son and bf had the quesabirria tacos - they mentioned they lacked flavor and were dry. My son said one side was wet from the console and the other was dry. The tacos also did not come with consome, I'm not even sure they offer it. I know they just opened and are in the process of picking up business so I feel like they'll have improvements with time. There was only one server for the entire restaurant and I don't fault her at all but we did wait a bit longer than expected since there was only maybe 2-3 other tables that had been there when we walked in. Great spot. I've been here several times for sit down and take-out orders. For take-out I've picked up menudo and posole on the weekends, and those always hit the spot. They are very flavorful. They always include the pata separately to add into the soup. For sit-down meals we've visited on tuesdays for the taco sale. I've tried the fish, asada, and carnitas and all were delicious. The margaritas are a good size and I enjoy the hibiscus one the most. My husband orders micheladas and they always dress the rim with shrimp and sauces.. very tasty. I recommend the molcajete, we always score those based on how the chicken comes out, and so far they have had all the meats in them cooked perfectly. My husband enjoys the chile verde and chilaquiles and he's very picky with those dishes. Empanadas de camaron are great. It's never been super busy when we've gone, and we've had great service from the waitresses and owner/manager. They have several tv's for entertainment. I do think the radio could be just a tad bit louder to add a little to the ambiance. I also noticed they currently have mariachi on Thursday nights, which I haven't made it to yet, but hopefully soon. read more

Tried Origen's for the first time today. I ordered the Chorizo with Eggs. It was the best Chorizo I have found in our area.... The ratio of eggs and chorizo was spot on. The rice was good but the beans needed just a dash of salt to brighten it up. I enjoy potatoes with my breakfast. I asked if they had a potato they said they did not have one on the menu but could make them for me. They were very tasty with some tomato and onion. Flour tortillas were fresh and tasty really good. Salsa was very tasty, just not spicy for my liking. This is my new breakfast place for Mexican food. I encourage you try it!! read more

Very nice interior, clean and spacious. Only issue is when you sit by the front door cold air comes in. Front door doesn't close on its own. Food is tasty, salsa is spicy. Appreciate they offer free chips and salsa as well as free refill when all the chips are gone. The caldo was phenomenal. Definitely worth the price. Also have some lower price plates that are still delicious and filling. The only thing we didn't like with this order was the queso fundido. We have had better. I went to this restaurant hoping to have another good experience. My wife and I had eaten here once before and really enjoyed it, but unfortunately, our second visit with our family was disappointing. The restaurant wasn't busy--only three or four other families were there--so we expected timely service. I ordered the chicken flautas, and while the rest of my family received their food, my plate took over 35 minutes to arrive. By the time it finally came out, everyone else had already finished eating. I ended up not wanting the meal at that point because we prefer to eat together as a family. While I appreciate that the staff removed the dish from the bill, the delay was frustrating and really affected our experience. A 35-minute wait for one meal, especially especially when the restaurant isn't busy, is just far too long. read more
